The Edith Cavell in Norwich

We came here on a relaxing Sunday afternoon, nice little bar on the corner. Great little area of Norwich to pop into and try a drink. I expect it must get busy here on Saturday nights but we were happy with the slower pace. Music was nice and set a nice relaxing atmosphere, not too loud. I really liked their furniture, their high tables looked great in the setting. Drinks were roughly £5.50 each, I had a Cruzcampo and my other half had a cherries and berries cider. Well worth a visit if you ever in Norwich. Next stop after this is brew dog,

We had promised ourselves a visit to Prime (in its new location) since having a great meal at the Edit Cavell venue. It was well worth the wait. The staff were great, super friendly and engaging whilst not being over powering. We had two starters, chicken lollipops and fish and chips, both were great and would definitely recommend. The steaks were just what we had hoped for - we went with a sirloin and two ribeye, sides included thick cut chips, garlic mushrooms, onion rings and potato rosti - 10/10. After letting everything settle we then enjoyed two puddings and a compliment birthday dessert - we couldn't fault it. 100% recommended - already planning on heading back in the New Year - Thank you Prime for a great night - thoroughly enjoyed by us all!!!!

Awful. Rude bar staff. Attempted to return a pint after one sip that was clearly faulty, with phenolic off flavours. Someone who claimed to be the owner responded with only abrupt and borderline abusive response. Shocked and very unhappy. Avoid this place

Firstly I must say the service was good. The bar man was lovely, very attentive and knew a lot about his wines. The setting is a bit odd for lunch, very dark all painted black/dark blue and it felt more night club than restaurant. We were taken through to the back which was also very dark… nicely done but no windows so felt much more of an evening than day time place. We had the set menu, the starter I gave 4/10. The bbq chicken Caesar salad was just ok. It was chicken, lettuce, powdered Parmesan and some soggy croutons. We ate it but it was very underwhelming. Then we had the miso salmon, it was very salty, very garlicky and the sweet potato mash had an unpleasant grainy texture. Good value at £20 but sadly not very nice :-/ Wouldn’t rush back.

Absolutely disgusted at the fact i was turned away for wearing shorts when i had broken my leg + back with a cast on and was on crutches. They said that they don't allow 'sports wear' yet when i returned for a family birthday last week there was a table sitting next to us in full lycra and shorts with sports t shirts on!!! Could not believe how rude the staff were complete disgrace and the food was below average for the price! Do not bother unless you want an awful, over priced experience

Beer was bad and mangers response was rude as we gave the first pint the benefit or the doubt so some tipped over beers (2nd pint) on the bar not any staff went to a different pub and manger came in and tipped over a beer and run away. Manger was either a idiot or stupid as we could have taken him a proper pint but we did not escalate. And if he has proof of tipping a beer over staff produce it!!! PS I was a witness to all not the person that made the first action or receive the childish response!

Excellent steak! Just perfect! My husband and I visited Prime on a passing whim. It is strangely atmospheric, but bear with! We had amazing cocktails. Excellent starters.I had the plaice,totally amazing. My hubby had the chicken lollipops,delicious. We were then tempted by the Porterhouse steak for two. My goodness,totally wonderful! It is presented on a board with bone adjacent,we both had hot stones with accoutrements of chimichurri rub with peppercorn(for hubs) all the cheeses for moisture, garlic and parmesan rub with blue cheese sauce. It was carnivore heaven! A treat,but we are worth it! Go on, try it,you know you deserve it! staff adorable. Brilliant lunch,just that little bit special. Thanks Prime,you made our day! X

Having been many times to the old Edith Cavel site and new , and always had a great meal I was looking forward to Friday . Another great night and now the meat is pre seasoned Clothes were as they were when we arrived ♥️ saying never bothered me previously . We checked the Edith Cavell out in summer 😎. It was such a chilled atmosphere, refreshing drinks and the food was immense. I'd heard of Bao buns but never tried one before, so glad I did, quick service and the prices are very reasonable. Pleasant staff and I was very relaxed 👍

Overpriced, rude staff, poor use of very limited space with tacky decor and uncomfortable bar stools (though none at the actual bar for some reason?). Bizarre atmosphere - it can’t seem to work out if it’s a comfy ale bar or a mini night club, blaring noisy 00’s pop music to a near-empty Friday night. Coffees and cocktails are made by a machine, and half the food can only be ordered on Deliveroo. Feels a bit like you asked an AI to make a venue! Edit: contrary to the owner’s comments I have never worked for Edith Cavell though I have been a customer several times - I was even photographed in the paper as their first customer when they reopened this summer. I do know someone who has worked here and was unfairly dismissed for calling in sick due to a long-term kidney condition. I chose not to mention that and keep my review specific to my experience of the venue which has been consistently poor.

Hope my experience was unusual, as do like steak and unfortunately there are so few decent eateries in Norwich. When into this place earlier in the week, no one to greet us, no one at the bar, in fact no one anywhere at all. Dim lighting, (very dim), with weird blue tones, and the restaurant apparently round the back somewhere. Made it feel like I'd entered Platinum Lace! Will try again another day to eat there, but experience so far has been really off-putting.

This place has zero customer service skills. We booked for a Saturday and on the way our car caught on fire. We called to change the booking to a different day and they refused and kept our deposit. Disgusting service. Will never use.

This was our first time at the new venue for Prime and must say they have done a fantastic job with the decor. Upon arrival you are met with an art deco theme, resembling a swanky up market London restaurant. There is a real sense of grandeur at this new location. To the food and service. For me the novelty of cooking your steak at your table has now worn off. It's a really good gimmick, however when going out for a meal the last thing I want to do is cook my meal.. If the steaks are to be cooked at the table going forward I'd suggest better ventilation above the tables. I'm think given this the cost for the evening out is on the heavy/expensive side. I think if the meal was prepared in the kitchen without input from the customers you could justify the cost to the meal. The table service was excellent and staff were friendly and knowledgeable. Would I return again.. I'm not sure! I think there are better restaurants out there, maybe not steakhouses I would add. The meal itself doesn't meat the fancy feel of the venue and if you are after finery I would go elsewhere. To become better it might be time to give up the gimmick of cooking the steak yourself to elevate this place to the next level.

Really friendly staff. A chilled place for a midweek pint or two

Unfortunately, my mum and 73 year old nanny were nearly physically attacked today by the so-called landlord who looked like he was nearly past his expiry date. He got in their face, in the women’s toilets, for wanting to use the toilet. My mum had an empty can which he snatched out of her hand. Correct me if I’m wrong but I wasn’t aware this was illegal, and definitely doesn’t elicit physical and verbal abuse. If you enjoy being verbally and physically abused, feel free to enjoy your time at Edith Cavell. * in response to your sarcastic reply: Call me old fashioned, but squaring up to and shouting in someone's face isn't a very pleasant experience and certainly isn't an acceptable response in any circumstance. This, alongside verbal abuse (insulting my mum on what she was wearing - a maxi dress and trainers), and snatching something out of someone's hand is in fact assault. You were extremely threatening and rude and your condescending response shows your attitude. My mum had an empty can and was not using your toilet, but was instead assisting her mother - who paid you £5 for using the toilet, despite your arrogant and threatening demeanour. You soon took that £5!

The newly renovated Edith Cavell was worth the wait. I have been here twice, had a Diet Cola twice. Both times it wasn't too busy, the first time was in the evening of the opening day.

We loved Prime when it was above Edith Cavell but didn't enjoy leaving smelling like roast beef. Well Prime has totally got that sorted now. Having discovered that not melting butter or the condiments on the rocks means no smoke, you can go and have an amazing meal without smelling like a bbq! It has a totally different feel too, the lighting is intimate, took a while for my eyes to adjust but then I felt it was just me and hubby in the restaurant and we forgot everyone around us, it felt very special. A big mention for Stefan who was excellent and one of the most professional and knowledgeable hosts we've experienced. Thank you! I feel Prime has really upped its game. It's not cheap but it was totally worth every penny. This was also to celebrate our wedding anniversary so we were willing to push the boat out. The food and cocktails were absolutely delicious. In summary - one of the best meals we'd had in a long time!

Visited as a couple for Primes set lunch menu. Really impressed. We paid the supplement for fillet steak and the entire meal was lovely. Really liked the new location. Hot stones a great touch, such a nice idea to be able to cook your steak as you like it. Staff really friendly and we thought the 3 course meal we had was amazing value for money. Will definitely be returning!

This was our second recent visit and we again opted for the ‘Set Lunch Menu’ as we feel that this is good value for money. Starters are tasty and just the right quantity. We like the option of self cooking your steak so opted for this and between us had the two steak choices and burger. The steaks were very tender and flavoursome especially as the were ‘done’ exactly how we wanted, the medium rare burger also getting the seal of approval. There was just about enough room for desert and our four different choices were all pleasant and enjoyable. There is a good drinks menu but with the wines, though enjoyable, marked up to at prices somewhat higher than they should be.

We visited Molten, a cosy fondue restaurant above the Edith Cavell pub on a Friday eve when the pub was very busy, but upstairs in the restaurant it's a more quiet and relaxed atmosphere. The fondue menu is a 2 or 3 course set menu and between 4 of us we opted for 4 starter cheese fondues, 2 mains and 1 dessert... We all agreed the cheese fondue, which comes served with very good bread, was delicious... Gooey, exceedingly cheesey, well flavoured and extra bread given when requested to mop every last drop.. The main fondue is served as a cook yourself option, and we had one meat, and one vegetarian option...both served with a selection of dips and some side vegetables. The meat eaters were happy, not overwhelmed... but the vegetarian option consisted of some cubed tofu and gnocchi..both flavourless and just didn't work in a pot of boiling oil with the gnocchi completely falling apart in the oil, which we had been warned about when it was served 🤷‍♀️. We left most of it and have to say without doubt, in over 50 years of being vegetarian this was undoubtedly one of the worst dishes ever to have been served.. The final chocolate fondue however, was again fab and we all agreed that had we stuck to the starter and dessert options it would have been a great meal. Despite the main course we all had a fun evening, it's a different dining experience which is relaxed and unhurried... cocktails, drinks and service were all good and would recommend giving it a go for just the cheese and chocolate options..
