Used to come here as a kid and I swear the decor is exactly the same which I am very pleased about!

We literally could go back and fourth about you not getting what you want, how rubbish we are, your dislike for Michelle, the Walkthrough, the ales you say we serve which we don't and so on until you run out of Google profiles. All you do is show everyone that visits that they can rest assure that we do not have intolerable people like yourself in here.

First the positives, been coming here for 30 years and seen many landlords come and go. Peter was excellent and was sad when he left a few years back. Even Hoss had his moments keeping a decent pint going. This is a splendid Edwardian structure and far from a basic back street boozer and worth a visit just to take in the glorious facia and original fittings. For this reason alone, it continues to feature in Camra's South East addition of intact and original pubs in Pompey, although the back bar and canopy are clearly 1960s etc additions and the bottle and jug has since long gone, it does maintains some original features still. Sadly the public and lounge bar are no longer separated joined now by a archway as of summer 2024, a trend first started in the 1970s, some like, some not I'm the latter but that is my own personal preference. The history of why there are public and lounge bars is explained well in the mentioned book above. As a ale drinker the choice is limited but normally two ales are offered with Razor back being a perennial offering. Too weak for my taste but generally well kept. Now the downside, it seems to get civil and courteous service requires a patron to be a regular in the eyes of the newer management. I am old fashioned enough to know if a customer calls in whether they are regular or not they should expect at the very least a greeting of sorts and if it is warm and friendly this would help faciltate a relationship. However, my recent experience is far removed from this to the point of being blatantly ignored. I was made to feel an inconvenience nay, dealt with contemptuously by the landlady who told me she was having a bad day, with stony silence throughout a transaction of me asking for a pint on a quiet afternoon. It took me to instigate initial contact, with a clear lack of response from the landlady who explained she was concentrating pouring the purchase rather than wishing to engage with said customer. Quite extraordinary, basically I was ignored. This aside, it is a lovely pub and needs support however sadly, my trade has now gone to other establishments in the area where you do not get ignored, treated with respect and upmost civility. Lose one customer and word of mouth means you do not lose just the one customer but many many more potential customers something the current management would do best to reflect upon. The old adage, the customer is always right doesn't fit the template of service delivered by the current leaseholder.

Suzanne's review- Why would you want to come here if you think it is a terrible pub? If we are rude and pretty much rubbish at running our pub why would you want to come here? If the pub up the road caters for all your needs why do you want to come here? Anyway everyone is more than welcome here because we do not let people like this in our pub. We cannot cater for the needs of the entitled. We wish you the best in running your own pub. The best of luck to The Sir Loin of Beef because when all there customers have finished and gone home and they are left with just you they will understand why you are not welcome here.

Nice proper boozer, garden area was nice, staff were lovely only one lad on but he had a big smile, and it was just as the workman were in on a Friday afternoon. Everyone was nice, would definitely use again

Third family occasion here and it was a lovely experience. Attentive staff, great atmosphere and wonderful food. The very best of Italian food in the warmest environment.

I may be a little bias about this establishment as I have been frequently , but, the service is excellent the food, when food is on, is of generous portions and very tasty the staff are very friendly and helpful and when live music is on it is has a very lively atmosphere

Wanted to go somewhere local to watch the England v USA group match in Qatar 2022. Local pub with local atmosphere and brilliant staff who were so accommodating. Not too many in which made the experience so much better with no hassle. Good food to boot! Only so sorry the boot was not as good as the food! Thank you all so very much!

Cold beer, big garden but very hot inside

The Fewcett is a very friendly pub and the Thursday quizz nights are great fun and everyone has a good laugh, among the serious answering of questions.

Been a Portsmouth fixture for many years and it has evolved with the times. Lovely pub, open mic Mondays and a basic but great menu. Highly recommended. FYI. Food is not served on Tuesday and Wednesday

A lovely pub, the chef is brilliant and the bar staff lovely. It's good for a drink and also food. Went for a roast and it was incredibly good, so much food! The gravy was made with meat juices and really elevated the whole thing. Brilliant value for money!

Lovely bar staff, fresh ale, great food and a spacious outside area

It was too overcrowded on the night we went. Took too long to get a drink, as only had about 3 bar staff on, or so it seemed. It could of had something to do with the band that was playing in there that night. Mojo Dollar, always brings a big crowd.

Staff can be hot and cold when serving you. However this over a year ago and they likely don't work there anymore as didnt seem to care about their job! Great selection of beers though.

Although this is primarily a pub it does do extremely good Thai food. We were recommended the Fawcett Inn, so my wife and I decided to try it. We were not disappointed. Extremely good value for money. If you do not mind the pub surroundings, then this is definitely worth a try.
