Really good food with a good choice fast and friendly service in a relaxing atmosphere right in the centre of town so easy to find

I had read the negative reviews, decided to give it a try anyway and had a lovely evening. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and shown to our table. It was early so there were only 2 others in the restaurant ( 2 other tables were ready with a four and an eight setting). My companion went to the bar to look at the beer/ale offerings and came back laughing having sampled a couple before making a choice! The menu is standard pub food. We had scampi and highland chicken (chicken breast stuffed with haggis and wrapped in bacon served with a mustard sauce). It came promptly, was piping hot and served up with a smile. A positive experience for us.

We have eaten at The Eagle Hotel a number of times. It’s typical pub grub, enjoyable and overall good service. However on our visit tonight we are very disappointed with the service. One waitress seemed to be doing all the work. 2 ladies behind the bar and a further staff member polishing bottles. We had to ask for our dinner plates to be cleared after waiting and no one attending. We asked for dessert menus and had to wait for these. We were ready to order desserts but second waiting member of staff continued to keep their back to us. Eventually we gave up, paid and walked along to Dornoch Stores and bought ice cream. We felt very sorry for the waitress who seemed to be running around while the others chatted. We won’t go back, there’s plenty of places to eat near us.

Popped in to this quaint little village pub for a meal with my family. We hadn't prebooked but was greeted as we walked in and led to a table straight away. The lady serving us was lovely, friendly and chatty without being too up in the face. The right balance of customer service. The food arrived in a timely manner and was good quality and delicious (even my fussy children loved it). The price of the food was a little higher than average but the quality was worth it.

Soup came out stone cold, the curry was a wash with oil and the pie top crust pastry was burnt. The dinning area needs a lot of tlc. I got the impression everything was cooked from a frozen pack of a supermarket shelve. Certainly not work the mark up price. We won't be returning anytime soon.

Service was slow and was only offered the table by the open door even though better tables were offered to walk ins after us. The menu was out of the 1980’s and pretty basic. There was a wait but it was busy, we had the soup and baked potato and the potato was cold however nobody checked back with us to check if everything was ok. We also had the toastie which was full of nicely melted cheese however the bread seemed slightly greasy.

Called in whilst looking round Dornoch. Staff friendly enough and service good. Food arrived promptly. Fish and chips nice and hot. Macaroni cheese dish had curdled. Despite THREE members of staff asking whether our food was alright and us pointing out issue with one dish nobody was interested. Comment from chef was “it was made fresh today”. I don’t usually put negative comments on Facebook but if you ask if food is good three times and we have an issue at least respond as though you care. Won’t be visiting again.

We had our dinner early 1800hrs… We were the only ones here for the first hour or so. Drinks order taken as usual, and starts, mains came on time. Great portions and great service, would recommend a visit. Only downside that a family came in and the husband wanted to watch the golf. Didn’t ask any other diners if that it was ok nor did staff ask.

Nice atmosphere, seated in a comfortable booth, staff very friendly. Good quality comfort food served hot and within an appropriate time.

We went to Eagle for a pint one day and loved the lively pub atmosphere of this pub. When leaving we made a booking for the following day for dinner. Food was awesome. We would highly recommend a visit to this pub for a pint or a meal.

Traditional bar. Lovely atmosphere. Friendly and courteous staff. Always smiling. Can recommend the sirloin steak, also roast dinner.

Stay at the eagle hotel every year for a week.. Eric & Suzi are excellent hosts go out of their way to make sure your stay is enjoyable.. all staff are friendly & make you feel at home..

Went for a family dinner last night, 31 July 2023. Unfortunately, I couldn’t recommend this place as I was served raw chicken for my fajitas. I mean 95% raw - see photo. Absolutely disgusting and extremely dangerous! Wouldn’t recommend.

Absolutely amazing, some of the best battered fist I have ever eaten!! Would definitely recommend!! They also do gluten free and vegan so everyone can eat!! Can't wait to come again!! Many thanks to Robbie DeVenny who was a fabulous waiter!!

First, even though we’d phoned ahead to book they couldn’t find our booking. They then sat us in a room that’s clearly used as the hotel breakfast room, with half the breakfast stuff still sitting on a table, with a big TV blaring. We had to ask them several times to turn the TV off as it was showing the news which was upsetting for our 7 year old. No one explained the specials or asked us if we wanted more drinks or a dessert. We just wanted to leave which we did after one course. Food was ok. Some improvements needed please to make people feel more welcome on their holidays.

Lunchtime visit for 7 friends having booked in advance. Lovely lunchtime fare - we all had sandwiches, toasties or starters rather than main meals but we all really enjoyed our food. Service was excellent and we sampled a good range of drinks from the bar. Recommended definitely, thank you for a lovely visit.

I went here for a meal with my mother while on holiday. We arrived for an early dinner and although the dining room was all reserved there was tables available in the bar end. We both ordered the macaroni and cheese. I chose with garlic bread and the other with chips. Delicious. We also had a dessert. One cheesecake and a trio of ice-cream with sadly I couldn't finish. The prices were really reasonable and the staff were friendly.

We stayed here for just one night whilst travelling in Scotland. The rooms are basic, clean and functional but the bed was very uncomfortable. The restaurant lacked any real atmosphere but it was packed out so I guess they must be doing something right. However I must say that the food was pretty good.

Pretty grim dinner, roast beef dinner with all the veg and potatoes, no gravy on the veg when asked they didnt have any more gravy.Think it was all frozen and then microwaved and chicken tenders and dried up chips. Told the waitress it was awful she just cleared the plates without a word.

My wife and I enjoyed a well cooked meal in friendly surroundings at this restaurant. We had the Highland Chicken, which was well presented and everything was cooked to perfection. Some great local ales on tap as well and the prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend eating here if you are in Dornoch.

Decent bar food in a village where this is not to much choice of this type of food and price bracket. We also stayed in the hotel overnight and rooms were basic but clean and all you need for a overnight stay. Would stay again

Recently had a staycation in dornoch. Booked a table for 3 in the eagle. I had the curry, my brother in-law the steak pie which we both enjoyed. My sister had chicken tenders. Wrong description, processed chicken in a nasty coating, flung on a plate with a few potatoes and salad...a couple of leaves of lettuce and 2 slice of tomato. A big let down and don't think we'll be back.
