Have eaten here many times , always top notch food and service. Beautiful place and surroundings , lovely polite staff. Quite expensive but it is a lovely place , always have to book well in advance so can't really decide to ever drop in , but that's not a problem. Is a restaurant rather than pub that does food , very very nice place , will always visit

Booked a meal for a family celebration, got placed in our seats and shown the menu. Didn’t see anyone for 20 minutes another family came in and sat behind us ,5 minutes later the waitress appeared and took their drinks and food order and then asked us if we were ready to order drinks!! We ordered drinks and meals we had been sat in the seats for about 35 minutes before we got a drink the starters arrived which were very nice Korean chicken and Prawn cocktails. We sat for another 40 minutes before we had to ask the waitress who was more interested in talking to her friends on another table instead of seeing to our table we asked if we could order drinks again and was our food ready, the food came out and looked really nice Sunday roast, but that’s where it ended the potatoes were hard the meat was fatty the vegetables raw and cold we complained when the waitress eventually came back to our table, she said she would go and get some more meat and apologised, we didn’t want anymore meat but she didn’t want to listen. The roast was an absolute disaster and probably the worst we have had, the service was terrible it may just have been the one waitress who seemed not to care. We asked for the bill and again she disappeared so we end having to go to front desk to pay. The place was busy so people must like it but I wouldn’t order a roast again.

Having called in the Eagle for a drink, it was busy at 18:00pm. The management couldn't be bothered to speak going past the high table on numerous times. Only 2 of the staff who know us actually spoke. If any disabled people go in, the access to the toilet was impassable as the tables were so close the staff were struggling. Courtesy costs nothing, so we won't use it as often as we could.

Went as a party of six But we had to cheat to make the booking. When we originally tried to book they did not have a table for six so phoned back and booked for 4 Phoned later to ask if it was ok to bring 6 and they said yes Why could they not have done that to start with Sat at a nice table and waitress took our drinks order that came pretty quickly She then took our food order that took AGES No matter, when the food did arrive it was tasty, well cooked and presented but watch out - large portions All in all - lovely place - good food but mediocre service Not the waitresses fault (she was lovely) but the kitchen was obviously struggling a bit

The wife and I yesterday visited the Eagle for the 4th time since it was refurbished; the first visit (the week after it reopened) was excellent, but unfortunately it has got progressively worse since, with yesterday particularly disappointing. My wife had the the fish and chips, the fish was very good but the chips and mushy peas were stone cold; the waitress took it back but when the new meal arrived the batter on the fish was under-cooked and inedible. The menu is fairly limited and it is over-priced for what you get. The other annoying thing is that each time we have been, there seem to be different "rules" about where you can eat and what you can eat - on our 2nd visit (a lovely hot day) we were told that food was not being served in the front garden but was in the rear garden - which was full of children (fair enough - but they weren't ours!) and for reasons which are not clear, there is a limited menu if you are eating outside (the items on that menu are not significantly different from the full menu, so it does not seem to be anything to do with hot food/heavy dishes or anything else obvious). A promising start, but now we won't be going back any time soon.

Average Pub food at top restaurant prices £29 for a fillet steak £3 for an appletiser. The restaurant had been refurbished to a good standard but with high levels of background noise not a place where you can have a conversation. Lots of flies in the restaurant and no visible signs of devices to remove them. Staff in the main seemed untrained in catering service. No intention of returning any time soon.

A complete make over of this village pub into a large restaurant, tastefully done with the addition of a conservatory and exterior dining area. We must advise however that we where very disappointed with the menu.
