The Dusty Miller Pub in East Hertfordshire

Was a bit worried having seen a few other reviews but it was unnecessary as we had an excellent Sunday Lunch . The staff were very helpful especially Amelia and Maureen, her first shift. All the others were equally good, badges would have helped to be able to mention them. Portion sizes were excellent in all 3 courses and the food was hot, when necessary. Prices are competitive and definitely worth it. Sorry forgot to do a tip, as took service off the bill to give cash and then I didn't realise no one had left anything... Will double up next time.

Visited for lunch. New sandwich menu at very reasonable prices. We opted for full menu and we're not disappointed. Food was superb. Bar staff very friendly and could not do enough for us. Highly recommend and will certainly be going back

After searching for a suitable venue for our engagement party for weeks, we finally decided on The Dusty Miller and I’m very glad we did. Lukasz and the whole team at The Dusty Miller were friendly, helpful and a pleasure to deal with from the start. Our requests were all met and they worked to give us an amazing day. We were able to decorate how we wanted, play the music we wanted and run the day how we wanted! The food and drink was all lovely with all of our guests being well looked after all day. If you’re looking for an event venue I highly recommend The Dusty Miller!

This was my first visit and will definitely not be my last! A warm, friendly welcome, great menu, and superb choice of wines. We all had the trio of roast meats, and it was all so tasty, large portions-lots of roast potatoes and fresh veg. Nothing was too much trouble. Our waitress Sophie was efficient, friendly, and very professional. The wine was out of stock that we wanted so we chose a different one which was chilled to perfection. We were on our way home from a girls' weekend, so we all had luggage, which was kindly stored in the office while we ate our meals. It was the perfect ending to our weekend and we all said we would return and recommend. Thank you to all the staff for a lovely dining experience.

Four of us visited starters were ok main meals were not nice seafood linguine was watery and tasteless not very fresh / ham egg and chips eggs 1 broken yolk both hard not soft chips on cold side / fish and chips ok/ dirty burger dreadful no bacon couldn’t put egg in as has run out of eggs but had beetroot in it. Have been here before and was good but not this time

A lovely menu of chef’s specials as well as pub classics on offer. Beautifully prepared food full of flavour. We enjoyed Beetroot Wellington and a dish of Gurnard on a pea risotto absolutely delightful served by welcoming charming staff, Amelia being ours today. Will definitely return.

We enjoyed a Sunday roast here. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was great. There’s a really good atmosphere here although a yelping dog spoiled it a little bit. Unfortunately there wasn’t a facility to add a tip to our card payment. From our server’s reaction I don’t believe it was the first time a diner wanted to show their appreciation but couldn’t. I’ll take some cash next time.

An outstanding evening meal with my boyfriend. Our ribeye steaks were cooked to perfection. Crispy pork belly bites were amazing and salt and pepper squid all overly ample portion sizes. A great variety of wines we had a bottle Albarino. Staff all very friendly and knowledgeable.

We booked lunch here to celebrate an anniversary. The young lady who served us was very attentive and friendly. We ordered crispy pork belly bites, very tasty and portion of nachos. Also the Cajun chicken breast salad and house burger. All of the food was well cooked and plentiful. As we were the only 2 people in the pub at the time, Friday noon, the atmosphere was very quiet so can't really comment too much on that however the food was good.

We had a lovely steak lunch at the Dusty Miller - a quaint old country pub. It was mid-week so not very crowded. We had a set meal - rib eye steak, which was cooked just as we like, with the usual accompaniments, and fries and peppercorn sauce. Although we were on a set meal, the menu was varied with some other very nice sounding dishes. The young servers, Sophie and Amelia, were very pleasant, competent and helpful, and they looked after us well - attentive and there when we needed them without being intrusive. We will return soon to try some of those other lovely dishes.

We had a meal here to celebrate my husband's birthday and loved it. I booked using a Groupon voucher (2 steak meals and 2 drinks for £29.95). We also had the crispy mixed seafood to start and vanilla cheesecake for dessert, both of which were gluten free (so nice to see interesting gluten free options available). The food was delicious and generous portion sizes. We were served by Sophie who was friendly and attentive. We'll definitely go back.

We went because there was a steak offer on Groupon. Excellent value. nicely cooked steaks, good wines and beers and plenty of dessert choice. We were served by a waitress Sophie and although there was a full room, she was great at keeping all the tables going. It felt very personal and we will go again.

We ordered from the takeaway menu at around 11.30am to collect the same day at 19.30. Ordered chicken wings, 2 chicken burgers and a sticky toffee pudding. All were delicious and freshly made. Was still more than hot enough to eat by the time we got home. Would happily recommend getting a takeaway from this pub during lockdown as a treat / change from your usual takeaway.

Absolutely delicious! For my daughter's birthday she had the sirloin steak, we had braised featherblade of beef....such a treat! Cooked to perfection and so flavoursome. Our last Sunday lunch before lockdown! Crab salad bruschetta was a good starter which my husband shared. We all had Sunday roast, beef very good and also turkey. his McMullens 'gastropub' is on the edge of Harlow in a fairly rural area. The pub has plenty of parking and an extensive outdoor area (which I'm guessing is busy in the summer) surrounded by fields and trees. It's a reasonably sized interior, farmhouse style, with tables suitably distanced for privacy and, of course, COVID restrictions. The staff members we encountered were friendly and efficient. Orders for drinks (it offers a selection of ales and beers) and our meal were taken swiftly and with a smile, the meals arrived fairly quickly thereafter. It's an interesting menu with a good selection to choose from and the food, which is delicious, is presented beautifully. Prices are mid-range and reflect the quality of the food. It's one of those places you simply know you'll visit again but, as we discovered, it's best to book in advance - this place is popular.

After looking for somewhere to eat in the area on Trip Advisor, we decided The Dusty Miller looked like a safe bet and I’m really pleased to say we were not disappointed! The ambience is lovely, the staff are friendly and they’re following all the appropriate social distancing measures, which as a first night out since before March, was really reassuring.The food is totally delicious, I had the cauliflower soup, the steak and the chocolate mousse and I couldn’t have chosen better - so, so tasty! It was our first visit to the dusty miller through a recommendation from a friend. During the circumstances I was a little apprehensive regarding eating out but I couldn’t of felt safer. The pub was clean and very welcoming. Me, my partner and two children thoroughly enjoyed our meals (i had the fish and chips) and A good time was had by all. All staff were very attentive and remembered my children’s names and engaged with them as well as us grown ups (my kids love to have a conversation) so it took service levels above and beyond! We will be returning very soon! Couldn’t recommend enough and gutted it’s taken so long to eat here!

Amazing food choices, wonderful experience all round. Nothing too much trouble for our family of 16 visit including some with allergies. The chateaubriand was out of this world. Loved having a chat with the in house chef who told us all food was locally sourced too. We will definitely be back!

Visited here on Saturday evening with my wife and 2 children. We hadn't been before but was recommended by a couple of friends who visit regularly. All I can say is what a surprise. The pub is very unassuming from the outside but do not let put you off. The shrimps on toast and the lemon sole were really delicious and well presented. The 2 ladies working/serving were very friendly and welcoming. Loved how cosy it felt with the fairy lights, nice little touch. All in all a wonderful evening and we will be back!

Myself and partner visited for the first time last sunday as we have just moved into the area. We had an amazing beef (sirolin) roast lunch. All in all a great all round experience, service, food and drinks. We look forward to our next visit.

Booked here after googling for pubs in the area as we were staying over for a night nearby. We eat out a lot and can honestly say this was one of the best meals we have ever had. All of the courses for both of us were amazing. The scallops and chorizo starter was delicious and the haddock gougons which sounded very simple were just fabulous. The crispiest most amazing batter you’ve ever tasted. Then my partner had the rib eye steak and it was cooked to perfection...perfectly caramelised on the outside but meltingly soft tasty meat inside. I had the chicken breast and that too was divine...deliciously juicy (which many restaurants cannot achieve) with yummy crispy skin and lovely buttery mash and mushroom sauce. You need to eat here people...you will not be disappointed! We live over an hour away but will definitely be going back at some point!

We went out for our first post lockdown meal on a Saturday night. Everything was perfect. The food is great local produce from quality farmers. The highlights were the scallops with chorizo and the blade steak both bursting with flavour.We enjoyed chatting with the owner and felt very relaxed and welcome. Looking forward to returning soon.

We have been getting a takeaway on a Friday night almost weekly since April. Food has always been excellent especially the garlic and paprika chicken!! Collection has been seamless.

The food was fantastic and setting was quaint. However the bill at the end was a shocker. We were a table of 6, 4 adults and 2 children, the children ate adult meals as the only options provided were fish fingers or roast chicken dinner - they did not want either.I must say that the food quality, delivery and the waitress were all amazing, but next time we visit we will have babysitters! The food was absolutely fine (although the stupid bits of paper on the plates is ridiculous). But the service was nothing more than functional. If I'd bought the most expensive thing on the menu (steak at over £30!!!) I would have been really cheesed off.Also the ladies toilet is in dire need of a revamp. All of the wall fixings were rusty, the walls dated, the white paint was yellow, the water cold into a small sink and the hand drier was also cold. The toilet roll had no choice but to fall onto the sanitary bin. A new mirror and some twigs in a vase are not enough.

As soon as we walked in we were impressed by the nice lighting, not too bright or too dark. It was a Saturday night and all the tables were taken. We liked the way the tables were arranged - no one overlooked another. The staff were busy but helpful. The menu was interesting, not large , but comprehensive. We were a group of six and we all enjoyed our meals, well cooked, very flavoursome and well presented .
