The Duke of Wellington in Calderdale

When we arrived we were told we might have to wait up to 40 minutes for the food. As the atmosphere was good and it was quite busy so we thought why not. The lady who looked after us Sarah was lovely and took our orders quickly. She did say they would try their best to bring the food out asap but 40 mins was an estimate. At the end we waited just under 25 minutes for the food to arrive. Sarah made sure we were okay and checked if we were happy. She also talked to our children and they had a good laugh. It was busy but the quality of the food was really good. The portion size was huge and we all enjoyed what we have ordered. We were so happy that we did give extra tips and Sarah was so grateful telling us that she would ensure the chefs get their share too. Overall lovely service.

Visited with the family on Saturday after a day out in Halifax. Served very quickly. Only intended coming in for a quick drink before heading home, however the food looked good and the kids said they were hungry. We chose nuggets and chips, a Margherita pizza. Chicken wings, burger spring rolls, beef tacos, prawns and the hot chicken bites. Arrived 20 minutes later, hot fresh and tasty. The best part of the visit was the service. Tom and Sarah were brilliant. Completely run off their feet, but dealing with everyone in the same friendly way. Will definitely return.

Spot on, couldn't fault it. Nice atmosphere, good selection of beers, lovely staff, polite and well mannered. Had a lovely lunch

It was fed to the dog. The chips were rock hard & cold & the burger was like old leather! I used to order from here regularly but it’s really fine down hill. I definitely won’t be ordering again

Burger was dry and burnt, chips cold. Chicken was warm but burnt. Mushrooms where cold and mushy

Travelling for work and this pub was local. Tasty food, great staff and brilliant value. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area

Been in here loads of times on nights out with friends and family also been in here with my mom , Patricia Walsh dad , john Walsh sister zoe, walsh my eldest son Owen Walsh and my youngest son Jack white.still go in here for drinks regularly.

What a gem of a pub with fabulous staff and Sarah leading the way cannot do enough to make your visit enjoyable. Will deffo be back 🥳🥳

Came to a piece hall gig and seen on Facebook that this pub offered 20% off the bill when we showed our tickets. Huge pub, with great staff. They were very busy and only had a limited event menu, however this worked perfectly for us. Food came out in 15 minutes which for the amount of people in was excellent. I can understand why they had a limited menu now. For 2 pizzas a chicken burger, a portion of wings, smiley faces and 2 portions of chips. Along with 6 drinks, it came to less than £60. An absolute bargain.

Food is amazing. The staff are very attentive, especially Liv & Sarah. We got 20% off because we was going to the piece hall, which was a very kind gesture. We will definitely be returning.

Such a friendly pub, bar staff were absolutely outstanding. Came in for a bite to eat and a drink and one of the bar staff was absolutely amazing. Pretty sure her name was Olivia-really made the visit worth the time we was there. Didn’t wait too long for service, food was great and service was absolutely top notch👍

Good selection of drinks and a brilliant food menu. It's also the best pub in Halifax to watch live sport, biggest screens and the best atmosphere.

Came in to watch some football. Stayed for the live entertainment and ordered a bite to eat. Brilliant afternoon in the town centre again. Liv and ash were excellent. The food was spot on.

Service wasn’t great, young lad delivering the food was quite rude. Limited menu during football hours which was even more limited when they didn’t have half the stuff on the menu. Forgot our fries with our food which took ages to eventually get there. Not even an apology for forgetting. Food was alright, genuinely tasted better in Wetherspoon. Wouldn’t recommend it

food came Stone cold and missing items not like we had before don't give burger options on the meal deal and give us 2 burgers no bacon or cheese like we asked for must be new owners or something never going back

I booked a table to enjoy with my partner through the dining club gift card which was a gift.. we were hoping to enjoy a nice meal and drinks at this place, as soon as we walked in we sensed it wasn’t what the photos online were showing.. it was a rough dive with very loud music (you couldn’t have a decent conversation) we were shown to a high table that was totally unsuitable for eating, we had already chosen our meals from the online menu.. I went to order at the bar and was told the food we had picked was not available, we were given menus by very unfriendly staff of what I’d call bar snacks of pizza etc.. very limited choice and not what is being advertised on there website.. we finished our drinks and left as quickly as we could I’d say this place is falsely advertised AVOID!

Called in this afternoon for a cold beer as it was a hot day only to be met by the most ignorent by bar service I ve ever had. I was charged before my drink was poured and when it was ready it was put down at the end of the bar and I was told curtly to go and get it appalling service.

Got 1/2 an order and that was wrong , rang Burger Dudes to be told kitchen closed and to contact Just Eat . Will never use them again .

Food was immaculate could not say a bad word… staff were really polite and got the food to their customers as fast as they could. Atmosphere was great. Leaves me with no choice but to return this rating as a thank you message. Overall, a night well spent.

Ordered a Double Cheese & Bacon burger with no lettuce and swapped to twister fries, got the burger with no cheese and a lot of lettuce and normal fries. Everything else was correct though. Without cheese the burger was bland.

Basic pub food , coleslaw was missing on both meals. Bar service slow .

Bad food, took too long, made us late, we'd waited over half an hour for the food, most of which was over cooked or burnt, won't return

Paid £53 and never received my order. Driver was in our street but never bothered to call me and before I went outside he was gone and just clicked it was delivered. There is not their number or address so no chance to get in touch with them.

Sarah is the most brilliant bar staff I’ve ever come across

Several years ago I complained about the high level of the music and got no response, my friends and I stopped going in until a good while later when whoever was responsible for the music had the common sense to tone it down a bit. The last few weeks the noise level has returned to being very high. We went in last night while the football was on. At half time the music came on and the noise level was far too high. Needless to say we left and it is annoying that a good pub is spoilt by the level of noise created by the music being so high.

Liv is a great asset to your team. As well as Jay in the kitchen, his food is great. Lovely service from them all and they always look after me. The atmosphere is great and it’s a great regulars pub.

Great tasting breakfast the sausages were lovely. We ordered the mega Irish breakfast and small Irish breakfast they were both absolutely spot on and free coffe refills are a winner for me. Staff were also great and friendly 😁

I am currently living in wakefield and this was my first time travelling to halifax. I was previously referred into going to the Duke of Wellington halifax As I walked him, the music was great. The atmosphere was quite warm and I was greeted by. I believe her name was olivia. I ordered the mega mixed grill. The meat was succulent. And the portion sizes were great. My wife ordered the steak and guiness pie. She said it was beautiful. Our pints were poured perfectly

Very tasty food, friendly staff, good atmosphere...Great place to dine before a visit to the theatre.

Food was terrible! Took over an hour for it to arrive and when it finally did (served by a hostile waitress, who turned out to be the general manager!) it was cold. Didn’t feel I could complain about this as was already put off by the general demeanour of our server Sarah. Later on I over heard the chef (blonde hair) laughing on the phone about an ice machine that had caught fire!! It seems that the attitude of the head honcho has had a ripple affect. The one good thing was the other waitress on shift who somehow made this ordeal bearable. Thank you Ash you are an absolute blessing to that place. I will not be returning!!!!

Lovely pub food, better than expected!

Had a takeaway from here several times, however this time the burger was dry the buns over cooked so very hard. The chips were cold and no where near as good as they used to be. The mushroom were soggy and the portion small. Unfortunately will not be using this takeaway again

Had a couple of drinks late afternoon. Spent an hour or so during which time not one table cleared of empty glasses, food plates even though place was almost empty. Not very inviting and definitely would not go again. Back to Spoons for us

Went to watch the football. Put it on for me and my son with sound on. Even tho it was a Friday night. Had snacks while watching football. Great food and friendly service from Ashley and Ben. Would recommend for food at responsible prices. Happy hour between 5 and 8 on a Friday. Happ days

Love this place because the chicken burgers are proper chicken, the staff are always great, the music is great, live music is always quality and prices are fab.

picture shows fries no fries come with burger ordered extra fries they were not on the order neither were the onion rings or the single burger. can't call them as they don't have a number absolutely ridiculous for the price we paid. won't be using again!

Ordered gammon took ages too come and when it did Food well done was awfull. Sent it back and asked too be redone as it could not be eaten

Not going to lie found this food bland! Wouldn't say it's home cooked, tastes like microwave food and griddle food! Staff where lovely though! Prices good too!

Great little boozer in Halifax, friendly atmosphere and welcoming staff. Received great service from Reegan, the food came quickly and all was delicious. Would come again and would highly recommend!

Cheap and cheerful and not bad food. Shame there's no outside seating but that's the only let down really.

Lovely pub with some good live music getting played.

Walked in with my wife and kids for pre-show dinner and drinks before a show at the Victoria theatre. The music was so loud I could barely speak to the waitress to get our booked table of four. We were seated next to a group of 6 20 somethings who were very loud (so they hear each other over the music) It was so unpleasant we left and went to Yate’s and had a decent meal and a couple of drinks.

Think they were a bit short staffed but the ones who were there were friendly and helpful xxx
