Great place to meet and eat (Mon - sat lunches only). Proper home cooked food. Great hand pump ales and a good selection of lager and ciders. It's a family run pub with Damien behind the bar, Liz has taught Siobhan the kitchen and she works with bev to cook the fantastic, home cooked food. Seriously suggest you try the pies. They are amazing

Called in for lunch. Lovely friendly little pub that does very reasonably priced. Good quality, homemade food. You would have to go a long way to beat this for value for money. Would definitely recommend and will definitely comeback.

Wonderful cosy local, great atmosphere. The food looked and smells great!! The Management and staff are so friendly, very welcoming. I watched them interact with each and every customer, new or regular. Situated on the high street and great for many bus routes. Highly recommend.

Damien was very welcoming and seemed well respected with the customer's. Damian is Proper bar tender (shirt and tie) a true gent who was happy to help complete my work. Food from the kitchen looked fresh and tasty... Lots of happy people eating... That's always a good sign that these guys are doing it right. Fantastic little place with a big community heart.

Family lunch again today. Damien (landlord) lovely fella, very polite excellent customer service. All our meals were good home cooked food, compliments to the chef, excellent value for money, less than £25 for 3 Inc drinks. Would highly reccomend

Absolute terrible service! The elderly man behind the bar is so rude and I will never return. If you are a woman, I would advise not to go in this pub!

You won't get a better pint in Halifax than here. Landlord is great, food is beautiful especially the lamb curry.

Best pub in the locality by far. Professional, welcoming staff, and the homemade food (lunchtimes only and except for Sunday's) is superb. A warm atmosphere is ensured by the regulars. Altogether, a comfortable "proper" pub.

Went for a meal with a friend and we had a great experience. Food was excellent

Myself and partner met up with ³ 3 friends on their recommendation and we was NOT DISAPPOINTED we all had the home made còrned beef plate pie with proper chips mushy peas and fresh carrots and thick gravy i can tell you now if was perfection on a plate the pastry was scrummy the pub is a delight to sit in iwould say a lot of money as been spent on the refurbishments and best of all our meals cost 4.4.75p yes thats all what with the picken chicken practically next door that is at least one other reason. to visit king cross .

Nice little quiet pub on kingcross didn't know they did food and how tasty it really was if i dont go for an alcoholic beverage ill be definitely calling back to try something else from there food menu the hot beef sarnie was the best I've had in a very long time highy recommend 😋

Lovely pub, quite traditional with a modern feel. We had pies with proper chips and mushy peas, absolutely perfect although the portions were very large! We will be returning soon

Always a warm welcome from Damien the landlord.Great atmosphere and very popular. Today we decided to have lunch-£4.75 for the specials menu-unbelievable! I had scampi and my husband homemade pie.Both were generous portions and well cooked.Can’t fault for the price. Definitely worth a visit.

Went for lunch. Good home cooked food. Friendly service. Would recommend.

Lunchtime treat. Took my mum for lunch as some friends had said it was nice. The landlord is friendly and welcoming. Mum had the steak pie - home made. Loads of meat in it. I had the lasagne which was really good also home made. It was really tasty and filling. Just the right amount of meat to pasta. Drinks as well and under £20 for all. Would definitely go again next time I get a day off.

The staff are friendly as are the locals. The lunches are amazing and very easy on the pocket. There is a car park quite close so not too far to walk and is also wheelchair friendly as there are no steps. Well worth a visit

Regular visitor to this recently refurbished traditional pub. Serves excellent quality and value lunches Mon Fri for just £4,75. Super home made steak and corn beef pies an other trad bar meals. Not worth turning the oven on at home. One hour parking outside or behind. K

Whilst visiting from Devon we visited this pub. The food was delicious and such good value for money. Landlord was great with my little girl very friendly as were the locals

This is a small traditional pub, run by the landlord and his family. Not high-end, but reassuringly welcoming, with a small select menu, very reasonably priced, offering well established home cooked favourites, e.g. steak pie; chilli con carne and the chips look and taste like they did in the old days!

Perfect for a quiet pint in an old style Yorkshire town pub.

don't even bother coming in here if you're under 21 or look under 21 as the landlord will refuse to look at your perfectly valid ID and kick you out. didn't even have a chance to open my mouth and begin to order a drink before I was rudely shouted at and told to leave the premises with two other friends. all of us were of age yet he continued to tirade us and plainly refused to look at our ID when he suggested that he could challenge anyone who looks under 21. horribly rude staff, disgusting place, wish there was an option for 0 stars.

The food here is amazing probably the best pub food in halifax and its so cheap, definately worth checking out if your in kingc cross area. Steak and ale pie with mushy peas is awesome
