GeeGees Fish and Chips in Calderdale

Cake was very dry , didn’t enjoy it ended up throwing half in bin. Chips more of scrap ends than potato, didn’t enjoy tonight’s tea ☹️

Ordered from here quite a few times but won’t be going near this place after we’ve ordered tonight. Ordered via just eat (food was put in a tied bag) to find hair in both of our meals. Rang the restaurant to be told it was probably the delivery driver (baring in mind the bag was tied shut and boxes unopened) I then drove 10 minutes to the restaurant to be spoken to by the manager who had the attitude of a child and to continually say it wasn’t them, his staff had blonde hair (when in actual fact, he had brown hair along with another girl who worked there) and there was nothing he was going to do. Not a cheap do when we spent £30. Absolutely appalled by the customer service. Avoid like the plague. Had the audacity to accuse us of planting our own hairs in the food we’d paid good money for? Not sure what sort of person would do that, baring in mind we used to order from here lots of times before the new management took over.

Took my granddaughter in for her dinner and she absolutely loved it! She ate every bit! Staff were quick with her order & very polite. Food was served quickly, even did slush puppies when hot, perfect for the kids, I will definitely be ordering again!

Fish and Chips are always nice from here, however £8.65 is one of the most expensive around.

Don't order online, food does not turn up no contact or explanation unless you ring and then not really interested happened to me twice never again.

At last I’ve found a really good fish shop. The fish and chips were spot on, fresh cooked. Also had a spam fritter….lovely. Unfortunately I’m only in shelf for two weeks! Any chance you could move location to Baildon, Bradford. We desperately need a lovely fish shop like yours. Many thanks for such lovely food and service

Really tasty food and good portions. However had a deal on ( see image attached) and the man was adamant you could not swap the drink and sweets for mushy peas even though the deal said otherwise hey ho let it go and just bought the peas. Got home and neither of the sweets advertised came with the meals. Got an upset kid now who was only interested in sweets. Other than that top food. Probs look at your promotions with all staff before advertising though.

Hot , fresh , excellent quality , would definitely recommend

Sadly it was awful. The fish did not appear fresh but had a slightly pink colour and I ended up giving it to my cats. The fish and chips were cold and a few black parts to the chips which should have been taken out. I put them in the airfryer to heat them up and they were nicer and brown piping hot. For the price of the fish it was a small fish and in my opinion inedible. I won’t be returning I’m afraid. 👎

I ordered two sausage suppers with gravy, no gravy on, very dry and greasy.

Wow, what can I say. Chips fresh to order, good quality cooked. Cheap soft drinks and a service with a smile. Really stands out they pride themselves on standards and quality which is difficult to find nowadays. Definitely recommend.

just ordered from here as it has had nearly 5 stars. i was looking forward to it. I ordered two portions of chips, fishcake, curry, and two large sausages one for me one for the partner. one of the large sausages was missing. i phoned them and they said i had to submit a refund. as it was their mistake they should of brought one out to me. now i have no food as i was having curry and sausage. really upset. as refund takes 7 days. so no food for me tonight and im diabetic. wont be ordering here again. 👎 just had my food. couldnt eat fish cake as never seen so much grease and it was covered in fat. made me sick. thrown it in the bin. chips where bitty and dry and cold. really upset with this chippy

What a lovely fish and chip shop. Just happened to pass on our way home and as we were a little peckish I turned around as it looked so nice from outside. It was very clean inside and service was excellent. Food was freshly cooked and so tasty. Lunchtime special was small fish and chips with a side order (peas, curry sauce etc) £5.50 well worth it. Fish was beautiful, batter soft and no grease. Shame it was raining as it would have been nice to sit outside. Plenty of seating. Definitely will go back again

Beautiful piping hot and quick delivery. Slightly more expensive than usual outlet but definitely worth paying extra for perfect food and customer service.

After many visits to Gee Gee's. I can say that they are consistently the best chip shop around. The place is spotless and the staff are friendly. Prices are not the lowest, but I'm not buying take away food every day. So I think it's worth paying for quality. There are others I haven't tried, but they have weird opening hours, so are normally closed when I want to buy.

Great meal - fish, cake, chips and peas. All hot and good size portions. I haven't had a traditional cake like that for years!

Food is as good as ever, on this occasion one of the girls refused to take a £20 Scottish note, however Adam authorised it as it is legal currency in England as is English currency in Scotland, but she was only a kid so not really to blame. Only one downside to this place, the "music" is terrible.

Food is ok I would say average, lots of staff but painfully slow service, atmosphere is somewhat gloomy and lacks staff with a friendly approach to business.

What gas happened to GeeGees? They used to be first class, worth travelling to. Over the last 6-8 months really gone down hill! £16.60 for twice, the chips were hard bits no longer than an inch. The batter on the fish was hard too and the fish two thin slices atop of each other, with almost no taste. Very poor quality. Very poor meal. Definitely think twice before giving them another try. Disappointed with the quality especially for the price.

Called with my grandaughter. She opted for chips with curry sauce which she said was delicious. I went for a scallop butty which was OK however just one scallop on such a big bread cake seemed a little stingy. I asked for another scallop to be added which did the trick.

Best fish and chips I've had in a long time

One item missed off order, staff unhelpful in resolving this, not their problem apparently.

My number one go to chippy until they tipped me over the edge. I’m a very patient person so happy to wait! But on two separate occasions I’ve googled the opening times and they’ve been shut before advertised. I imagine this is due to running out of fish? I arrived tonight at 18:53 when advertised to close at 20:00. Stock more fish maybe? I’m not happy to drive somewhere and waste petrol for it to be closed. Prices have gone up when quality has unfortunately gone down. Anyway we went down the road to the trawler and found it much cheaper and quality much better.

We haven’t been here in quite a while and honestly not sure we will go again. This used to be the best chippy for miles. Today, there was a severely bad attitude in the shop from the blonde lady serving on who was just rude to one poor customer who had done nothing wrong, other than expecting his order to be correct. How dare he?! And she was plain rude to him in front of a shop full of people. In terms of the food, the fish was good but the chips were riddled with black bits. It’s expensive too. Unimpressed.

Fish was small and poor quality. Normally it is very good so they must have been having an off day.

I live locally and GeeGees is the best. Their food is fantastic even if the wait is a little long. But every time I’ve been all the staff are miserable and sometimes quite rude. Which is a shame.

What an absolute shame, this fish and chips shop used to be excellent with great tasting fish and chips, we went today and ordered at the door at 11.50, we then had to wait outside in 1°c and snowing, 30 mins later we were given our food, yes that's right 30 minutes, how the hell does it take 30 mins to cook fish and chips ? Not to mention we were first in line, and then the final kick in the teeth was when I opened them, undercooked chips, flat fish and one of the fish was smaller than the t-cake, oh and maybe the owner should give the shop staff training in manners, after telling the lass at the window that we'd been waiting 30 mins she replied with a yeah and closed the window, shame!!!

Pretty pricey for fish and chips but the fish are excellent.

Quick service, really good fish and chips

We used to love coming for fish and chips , but don’t know what has happened? We went there about 4 weeks ago and we’re told they were closing as they had run out of batter! We have been up today and the shop is closed, with no signs up and nothing on the web site. This is not good enough and we won’t be travelling there again now.

This place is ridiculous for length of time waiting. 25 minutes for a fish butty where there are only 5 other in front. What ever system you have on place isn’t working. Friday night you should be faster. it’s the busiest day. Won’t come here again- will head to Queensbury Fisheries instead.

I actually had my order flung at me, never had that happen to me anywhere! I was polite , paid what I was asked and waited patiently. A lady came to the window and flung it at me and to make it worse it was the wrong order. I won't be back, the fish and chips are OK, nothing special and definitely not worth putting up with that attitude.
