Decent pint of Guinness. Some cask ales on tap too. Long bar with lots of tables and good quality TV screens. Great place to watch the footy. Decent music too. 5 stars for me.

Went in here today and it was nearly £10 for 2 pints of Carlsberg. I questioned this and they said it was because the races were on. The barman then offered to give us a pound back. Terrible prices for a bar that isn't that great and is ruining things for local drinkers. I won't be going there again

No cask ales at all. ? The lunchtime atmosphere was zero. The service was like from a zombie . The food was ok. Why not let the Chef be more creative ? I am sure he / she would like to be . You may get more and varied customers . I ordered pie of the day and chips. I fancied that. It came with lots of meat and oodles of gravy. It wasn’t a pie. It was a dish with reheated precooked meat. Topped with a rough puff pastry lid, which had a soggy bottom and a crispy hard to cut top. The chips didn’t taste of potato . ( 😂😕). They were dried out oven fried ready made ones . Yuk! Overall it was a bad experience and not one to be recommended . whoever leases or manages this place should have the rent increased and a warning . It may give him her the kick up xxxx that is needed .No wonder it was dead . Very badly managed . City Centre Chester !!!

Popped in to The Packet for a cheeky Guinness with 2 work colleagues (well 🍺 monsters 👻!😉😂)... Just watched the Mickey Mouse Final and wanted to watch Wrexham 1st home game. Guinness was Bob on..the guys behind the bar sorted the Wrexham game out and put the Stone Roses "This is the one", just to alleviate the disappointment of losin to Ciddy and raise the spirits for YANITED 1st home game v Fulham...gr8 bar.... #UTFR

One of only Irish bars in Chester unfortunately doesn't bring the same energy as others and is overpriced. Recommend if you doing a pub crawl or few vibey drinks

Not a bad pint of Guinness, and I've been to Ireland, but I don't like talking about it

First time going in on Saturday.. one toilet was blocked with poo and a sanitary pad. The other was taped together, literally. Both were covered in black mould. And both me and my sister in law had to physically boot the door of the stall to get out. Staff were pretty miserable. We were given a glass for our ciders but decided against because they were actually filthy.

Lovely city centre pub in the heart of Chester.

Very average experience. We ordered Fish and Chips, server later informed us that they were out. I don't think the cook/chef does much real cooking. OK drink prices and fairly clean bathrooms. You probably can do better nearby.

Brilliant pub such a good laugh and karaoke was a blast! I come here quite often wit my friends to watch the sports and decided to stay for karaoke and wow what a blast we had stu is such a great guy we will Be back

Check your receipt!! I was charged £7.40 more for the same order I had made half an hour before. I was suspicious straight away because the bar staff always say how much you're paying, this staff member didn't, he then proceeded to tear off the receipt and place it in the till. I checked my banking app and noticed I'd been over charged. I challenged it and, in all fairness, I was refunded straight away. I had been charged for doubles instead of singles. I understand that mistakes happen but if I hadn't checked I would have been out of pocket. It's actually never happened to me before so I was a little annoyed and haven't darkened their door again.

Bar staff not helpful at all they were more interested in eating crisps and being on there phone behind the bar.drinks over priced a pint of carling was 4.20 and tasted disgusting Not very clean and doesn't have a great atmosphere 😕

Decent guinness in here, quite a busy pub only downside was the bar man appeared to be an Adele super fan and kept playing her music, bit depressing on a saturday

A nice little tucked away pub in the middle of Chester with a great atmosphere. You can easily pretend Chester doesn't exist from inside.

Good old fashioned traditional pub/bar serving beers wines and spirits...I had a Guinness which was served to perfection,its a pity some other places can't do the same with my favorite tipple so if you love the Black stuff dont miss or walk past this great little bar.

A pub with moderate character but over-abundance of screens. The lunch was OK but the portions very small. Leaving the front door propped open in mid - February may increase footfall, but makes for a frigid dining experience.

Give the roast dinner a miss. Frozen veg, greasy watery gravy, tough meat, and everything tasted the same. It was a very poor toast dinner, we should have realised when we went in there on a Sunday lunchtime and it was very quiet and nobody else was eating. Staff were lovely and friendly but go elsewhere for your roast, sorry.

Awful Sunday roast! We called in for a few drinks on a day out to Chester & decided to try the Sunday lunch but a terrible mistake as the order was wrong, then by the time we had waited for it to be rectified the rest of it was barely warm The beef was really tough. The lamb chops were so thin & fatty. The chicken was just a chicken steak too. They did appear to be short staffed as only one barman & one chef we presumed.

Only called in for drinks,but good music in background and reasonable priced drinks.

Busy, quiet a narrow pub but good atmosphere and live sports on

Beers fine but bloody noisy with the music. You will find it difficult to hold a conversation. If loud music is your thing this is the place. We were there early door's tea time.

Payed £6.90 for a pint of madri, well over priced , safe to say I won't drink in there again.

Popped into the pub and asked if they did food, the lady behind the bar was very helpful, my client is in a wheelchair, she got us a table, moved it to accommodate the wheelchair,,ordering food was great and it didn't take long to arrive. The food was lovely,piping hot, the bacon was cooked nicely, egg was nice and runny as requested, there was nothing to complain about, we met the chef and thanked him for the meal, the lady behind the bar was very easy to talk to, needless to say next time we are in Chester we will be back for a meal.

Good location, prices are ok but don't go there to eat. Not fantastic.

Don't be fooled into thinking this is an Irish themed pub. It is a Green King sports bar. We had tomato soup for a quick lunch. HEINZ out if a tin and lukewarm at best.

Barmaid extremely rude would never go in this place again.

Sara and Vanessa were so welcoming and very chatty so much so we came back later on in the evening and enjoyed some more drinks at a reasonable price too

The only good thing about this place was the barmaid who was lovely, friendly and helpful. The food was awful, cheap frozen stuff. I only managed to eat a couple of mouthfuls before I gave up. Stay clear.

Great fun - barman Harry - top bloke 👏. Let us do Karaoke 🎤 on an otherwise quiet night as we had friends over from South Wales. Turned into a proper night to remember. Harry even belted out a few tunes himself.

Dixie Dean's old pub so a great spot for blues. Good old fashioned pub with friendly barmaid. Could spend hours in there. I didn't eat but fish n chips looked nice!

Went in for one drink and ended up staying all night! Harry the barman was an absolute star. Friendly, helpful, accommodating and fab on the karaoke. Well worth a visit!

Stu behind the bar was a true Gent and excelled himself re: customer service, he exchanged a cup of tea (milk was off) for a Tia Maria & coke (for my missus) with no fuss, just apologies, which was very nice 😊 P.S. great entertainment from the old guy attempting a Whitney Houston classic 🙉

A decent pub, reasonably priced for the city of Chester. Has a small seating area outside on the pavement if the weather allows. Apparently they do food but that wasn't what we were there for. It's quite small inside and was quite lively as the races were on. We went in everyday we were in Chester as its our kind of bar but probably not for everyone. Basic toilet facilities but easy access for people who may struggle with mobility as there are no steps that I can recall.

Cheap and good drinks. Not much else to say.

Great traditional pub. Interesting fact about it, it was once owned by Dixie Dean. famous football player from 1930s.....

I have frequented the Dublin Packet many times and have never had a problem until last night in questioning our bill which was a different price for the same drinks sara who said she was the manager was very rude saying we were undercharged the first time thats fair enough but sara interfered when I asked another member of staff to add up my bill very rude member of staff

December 2022: had a pint of Wadsworth Brewery 6X amber ale 4.1%. Dog friendly. Welcoming staff.

Popped in for a drink when we arrived in the city waiting for our hotel to become available. The bar had a good atmosphere and thought we would try something to eat. Went to order and was informed the chef wasn’t taking any additional orders. Returned the next night for a drink and there was a lot of undesirable people in there. Also no straws!

I stopped here for a drink, I had to use the toilet there was no toilet roll , on looking in both toilets there was loads of dirty sanitary towels all over the floor and the bin was over flowing woth them. I told a member of staff and he explained it was busy the night before and people use the pub as a public toilet. I wanted to vomit 🤢. He did however get the toilet roll. Drinks are expensive and the place os very dark , cars machine wasn't working

Yeah, not good ! At best ! No disability access ! Darker than the owners soul ! We have “fish n chips” yeah …..? The side salad was the best part of fish n chips. Owners were rude and basically “bitched” about customers in the faces…not very friendly are we Dublin packet ?????? Vaping in the bar and drinking on the job ????? Very professional! Well done for the worst pub in Britain! Won’t be coming back ! Pfttttt !! I’ll be back next week with a health inspector and the FDA !
