We visited The Drum on New Year’s Eve lunchtime. Four of us wanted a family get together during the day, before the madness of New Year kicked in. I have to admit it wasn’t our first choice, purely because we have been to another restaurant for the past 3 New Year lunchtime but this year it was closed. I was so pleased we went to The Drum. On walking in, the decor and ambience was very warm and welcoming. It was quite busy so we were glad to have booked. We were seated up the stairs off the main restaurant which was very nice. Our waitress Keira was very friendly. 3 of us started with the pate with bramble chutney. Very delicious with a nice amount of bread. Our mains were served very promptly. I had the fishcakes which was not too filling after having a starter and quite delicious. My husband had the venison pie with chunky chips which he said was the best he had tasted. The lasagne and signature burger was also chosen and deemed to be lovely. Desserts all round of brownie, lemon tart and apple and mincemeat crumble were all very well received. All the food arrived promptly and piping hot, the staff were all smiles and chatty, the atmosphere was very cosy and festive, the drinks were flowing. All this in a fairytale location. Well done to all the staff of The Drum. It was a perfect lunchtime for me. My husband doesn’t have a great appetite but it was the most I’ve seen him eat at lunchtime for a long time. Can’t wait to visit again soon.

We’ve been wanting to come over the Christmas period for years so had high hopes, sadly the whole experience was a disappointment. There were 8 of us so we thought it was easier to order via the app but as some items from the festive menu weren’t showing we ordered those from the bar, assuming that would work as all the same table number. Anyway that resulted in half the meals coming 30 minutes before the other half! When the food did come it was small for the price and disappointing, especially the roast turkey. We then had to chase up our puddings twice (it took 20 mins for two scoops of ice cream) and ended up being in there for around three hours in total, with only half the party having deserts as we didn’t want to give them any more money!! We did complain about the whole experience but were simply told it was our fault for ordering via the app as well as at the bar, which in hindsight was a mistake as they clearly don’t sort out the cooking order by table number. It’s lovely inside but sadly we won’t be returning as we spent over £200 for a disappointing meal and it ruined our family Christmas gathering.

We were regulars in here until headoffice changed everything. Wish headoffice would stop messing with menus. Where have all the hearty meals gone? Everything we liked has been taken from the menu. Most things on the menu are in breadcrumbs, or quick easy food to make. Hunters chicken shouldn’t be in a Schnitzel, and pepperonis should be always on a pizza in a pub. Bring back the Sweet potato fries, bring back pepperoni on pizza, Bring back prawn and crayfish linguine, Bring back rib of beef, pork belly and all the other hearty meals. This is a pub, not a 5 start Michelin restaurant that Head office are trying to make it be. We want our local pub grub back and not process foods. It would be nice if beef/chicken stew, chilli or shepherds pie was on the menu too.

Second time visiting The Drum now, 1st time was an evening meal (Starter and Main) and today was a Sunday Lunch meal (Main and Dessert) Service on both occasions was incredible and purely by chance we had Emily both times. She was polite, friendly, welcoming and very professional. My other half works in hospitality himself and really appreciated the care she showed us. The food was delicious and served within a reasonable time frame, The Drum was comfortably busy and nothing felt rushed. The interior is beautifully decorated and the atmosphere was very autumnal and cosy. Todays visit we both had the Sunday Trio (Beef, Turkey and Pork) and it just melted in the mouth. We weren't originally planning on desserts but after looking it was hard to resist! Amazing value for money too and downloading the app gave us the incentive to return as we were offered a £10.00 off voucher. Already looking forward to our future visits with you all.

X4 of us visited on Saturday evening after booking a few hours ahead, we were thrilled to be able get a reservation to eat at our desired time so last minute. We were let down 3 hours ahead of our booking time by a nearby restaurant due to my friend having a shellfish allergy. The Drum team were great handling it & had suggested she download an app which would tell her exactly what she could/couldn’t eat. They talked us through how the food was prepared, and it even arrived with little flags on to acknowledge that food was hers & safe. Fantastic food & superb service, we were glad our plans had changed. We will definitely be back, and may even bring the dogs next time. The warm scotch egg was delicous, The trio of meats was lovely, the only criticism was the roast potato's were incredibly tough to cut and so was the pork belly that was not part of the trio of meats, the Cauliflower cheese was quite hard too but very tasty. My husband and 1 , and our 7 year old daughter come here quite a lot as it is convenient and near by. We are aware the food isn't great but we're starting to feel ripped off. £17 for Hunters chicken? And few chips with a handful of cress! Really? I had to buy a side salad otherwise I would of gone home hungry. Our daughter has the kids pasta which she enjoys but likes to have cheese on top. You charged us £1 for the smallest amount of cheese not to mention a very small portion of pasta. It shouldn't had cost anything for cheese, very tight!. Potion sizes are ridiculous, especially when the prices are high. It's NOT fine dining!.

My friend & I visited here last Saturday night for dinner before going to the theatre, all I can say is WOW😃🌟💫🙌😋! The service was impeccable, SO friendly, funny, welcoming & professional...simply first class (thank you Andy & Michael🤩) & the food was beyond delicious, super portions & sooo tasty & fresh. We'd highly recommend without a doubt...but book first as it gets very busy (not surprised😅). Thank you so much guys...& to the wonderful chef too🙏🌟😍.

Thankyou so much for letting us hire your hall. The hot buffet was amazing, everyone loved the pasties. Really appreciate all your help to make our evening special. Caroline and Chris Harris.

My partner and I attended the New Year's Eve bash at The Spinning Wheel on Tuesday. The atmosphere was great, bar service really quick. We had a great time overall but had a disappointing encounter when my partner and I entered the ladies toilets and we were told by a security guard that my partner couldn't be in there. It was worded very badly and felt very uncomfortable. I informed the security guard that my partner's pronouns are she/her and was met with "how was I supposed to know with the beard?". There were people dressed up in different ways so I do get the initial confusion but this should have been the end of it. Unfortunately it was not. Therefore she had to use the male bathroom which she was not comfortable with. She should have been able to use the bathroom that she was most comfortable using. I was with her to support her so anyone already inside could have seen that's all she was there for. My partner and I get that not everyone understands or is sympathetic to gender differences but maybe we should be past the point of questioning when anyone is using a certain bathroom. People just need piss.
