Old Manor Inn in Torbay

Met here with a group of friends for a few drinks and what a fantastic little pub with a lovely atmosphere. Very welcoming and really friendly locals. Staff are very attentive and the service is excellent. Please ignore the previous review…I think maybe they were having a bad day!!!

Came here for a 40th birthday party. The food was excellent, the staff were absolutely awesome and so friendly. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Had a total blast.

Described as a Traditional Country Pub but unfortunately there is nothing traditional when you walk inside! Modern, clinical & soulless & worse. Six of us visited for lunch but should have walked straight back out again. 3 or 4 people sitting around who all looked at us as if we had recently landed in the car park in a spaceship from Mars. We had checked out their website beforehand & no mention of them NOT doing food on Mondays or indeed Sundays! Unfortunately we decided to buy a round whilst deciding where else to go which was another mistake. The Golden Hen was certainly not laying the Golden Egg, the beer being old or not drawn off. A pint of cloudy cider ordered was incorrectly served as a pint of clear cider but it wasn’t changed when we mentioned it! We took our drinks outside the atmosphere being better in the cold wind than inside! We left our undrinkable Golden Hen & left!

Went there to day just for drinks always made feel welcome but today was a different story said shut at 1030 but to b kicked out at 930 but was serving locals .there was trouble in there with some lads and thay didn't handle it very good and for them to kick us out when thay still out side was wrong .

Super cool pub with a great choice of beers. Food looked good in passing though I never ate here sadly. Even as a visitor only had to order once and the bar staff didn't need to ask what I was drinking each time over the three days I went in, in a particularly busy pub, which I'm guessing was mostly locals. Great vibe, friendly people. I hope I get to come back.

The food here is superb, it’s a great friendly local and as locals we noticed the food looked very good so we thought we would try it, wow we were blown away by the quality very tasty hot and tasty.

Went to the Inn on 7th for a Baby Shower. We were made to feel very welcome and the staff were very helful. We had a lovely buffet, with a variety of sweet and savoury items, all very tasty! A lovely afternoon, Thankyou to all the staff. Would definitely visit again, its a lovely place 😊

Always a must to drop in.....music nights with a great atmosphere....perfect combo.

While visiting relatives in Preston we went for our Sunday roast here unfortunately the beef was very tough and chewy spoiling the HoleMeal for us all never again

Old pub, currently undergoing some refurbishment including rethatching the roof, so hard to say on looks, but should be great when it's finished. Friendly enough, decent pint of the local standards of St Austell Tribute & Dartmoor Jail. Didn't have food, but a good menu. Worth a visit.

Great inside wirh a new thatched roof. Good service and very obliging. Real pub atmosphere.

We visited twice this weekend and had great service both times. We ate here on Friday night and we were really pleased with our food! Proper pub food, done well. Will definitely visit again when in the area!

Service is at least acceptable. Early Friday afternoon and packed. Pinot grigio was at least a week old and beer mats ragged...don't put your arms on the table you will stick !!! Dirty pub and disgusting toilets...at least the locals and the dogs like it !!! Enjoy your food

Nice little local place to have a drink and a bite to eat.... lovely staff who are very friendly and helpful... pool table and darts available too. I can't rate the food honestly because I've never eaten there myself, but plenty of people recommend highly so must be good.

Great staff, dog friendly, lovely ambience.. Mandie is the perfect landlady. (And not forgetting Martin of course)

Great live music in the garden, in the sun, dogs allowed and friendly atmosphere. Just down the hill from home so a big bonus

Pub is great I would highly recommend, but do be careful with the locals as I have been threatened by the locals for something trivial 6 years ago. It ruined my night and was not necessary

Brilliant food, great service and a lovely atmosphere in the pub. Nice beer garden. Highly recommend the homemade steak and ale pie, kids loved the burgers and the curry smelled amazing

Great for lunch, much better than eating on the harbor , our meal cost half the price and was much better quality.

Absolutely delicious food and a healthy portion to boot. Had the Return of the Mack burger which was cooked to perfection. Highly recommended

Friendly staff. Reasonable prices. Proper pub that serves food. Came in a few times and had a couple of nice quiet pints and watched the football. Will be back.

Lovely olde world pub, great staff..welcoming atmosphere

Had scampi and chips that was just about adequate nothing to rave about, quick fry up territory. I ordered elderflower cordial for my partner which wasn't strong enough and had two top ups which was met by the comment that l had used half the bottle. I hadn't, nowhere near. I had a pint of Doombar which l have very often so l can judge a good pint of it. This wasn't it unfortunately it was with very little taste and left the glass as clear as if l had drank water. Not to be totally negative the toilets were clean and the staff apart from Mr half a bottle were good. I won't hurry back though.

The place is filthy, material on seats grubby and torn, don’t lean on the tables or you’ll stick to them! The owner/manager starring at the TV very off putting when dining. Foul mouthed loud customer not asked politely to pipe down by staff in respect of other customers didn’t help matters. The only plus point was the kitchen person who was helpful and the food decent apart from that I could not leave fast enough.

Nice atmosphere. Lovely friendly young lady who found is a nice table as we had not booked. Food was stunning home made pie with large fries and veg with a think gravy. and fish and sausage fish meal..very fairly priced will definitely be back again

Visited as a family of 4 adults 2 children for my sons birthday whilst we were here on holiday in Paignton. The food was excellent, atmosphere was friendly and fun and the staff were brilliant and made it special for my son. Would definitely visit again if in the area.

This is a proper pub with good quality food and service. Great history to it and a lovely building inside and out. Very welcoming with a good garden and function room too.

Wow...🤩 This place is fantastic. Walked in and welcome was spot on with a smile. Pub its self is crips and clean. The staff couldn't help one enough... call it that extra mile for sure. Lots of beers etc to choose from. Excellent.. Many thanks Mandi and the staff.

We phoned for a last minute booking for a table of 3 and a young male member of staff was so lovely on the phone and from the minute we stepped into the pub we were welcomed by very friendly staff! Ordered steak and swapped a couple of things on our meals with no problem at all....steak was absolutely lovely and such good value!! Highly recommended this pub!!

We celebrated my mums 70th there, food was fantastic and the staff were brilliant which made a special day that much more special. Highly recommended

The pub used to be my local many years ago I have not been in there for about 20 years so not sure what it is like now but from what I hear it is still a good pub to frequent.

Popped in because it was close to the house we'd rented & we didn't want to go to far because of the weather that day and must say I was really pleased we did, the food was excellent and the beer was a really well kept pint,if this was my local I'd be in it all the time, very friendly staff too

What a let down. We were told it was great for food. The food was cold and said it was home made. No way was it home made. We certainly will not be going back there

Sat down in the pub,was looking to eat somewhere nice. Ordered 1/2 pint as the ale appeared limited and the waiter smirked at my 1/2 pint order so decided to drink it and leave for somewhere nicer. Had no atmosphere and old guy with little hospitality skills taking my order left a sour taste in my mouth. Such a same looks like a little gem from outside with lots of character, don't be fooled from outside. Just a pub for regulars drinking lager, not for tourists.

Lively atmosphere, plenty of people there for a Friday night. Food was nice, my husband got his meal, but I had to wait for mine, as I asked for mash with my pie and they gave me chips. I think the pie was put back in the oven, because when I eventually got it the crust was hard. But apart from that meal was tasty.

Lovely clean pub,excellent atmosphere

Not a good experience today, wasn't very clean in the restaurant area, my son was given a fruit shoot that was over a year out of date. The appetizers we ordered whilst looking at the menu were ok however we decided to finish our drinks and leave and will not return.

If I could give no stars I would. Booked a table on a Saturday now I know why NO ONE else was dinning. Entered with a cheery smile and asked the gentleman behind the bar about our reservation got met with a grunt. Shown to our table in the "restaurant" part of this establishment. It had no character and was freezing cold, my daughter put her coat on! We were presented with some dirty printed menus that were extremely limited. My sister decided on the pie which they didn't have in! We ordered drinks before looking at the dire menu so decided on ordering a couple of sides to keep the kids going whilst we looked for somewhere else to go for lunch. After taking our order we heard the waitress say that this was all we were ordering and a gentleman to reply with are you joking and some laughter. I ordered a savignon blanc which you can't really go wrong with it was awful, dark yellow and tasted like the cheapest plonk money can buy. After my three year old finished his fruit shoot we noticed it's expiry was June 2019 over a year out of date. After telling the waitress she gasped then left with bottle saying I must show the manager, no apology was given. I scanned the track and trace poster on entry which was just as well as no one pointed it out and a couple of staff were not wearing masks Awful, disgusting on paying the waitress said "I've removed that fruit shoot" still no apology. ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING!!! I know that times are hard, I would love to cheerlead any businesses at this time they need our support but this establishment was dirty unwelcoming and a complete joke! I will never return

Visited this pub for the last day of our weeks holiday, it looked a lovely pub to have an evening meal, arrived there and they were freindly enough ,they sat us down, got a drinks order from us which was ok, then they took a while to take our order for food, waited a while again for it to arrive , it was lamb with vegetables and i had chips , my husband had mash , the mash was a bit hard , the lamb was ver rare , the vegetables were just green beans which were hard ! We then waited 20 minutes for them to collect our plates , when the waiter came he asked if everything was alright with our meals as we had left quite a bit , we told him the meat was too rare , he said ' oh really ' and thats all ! He asked if we wanted to look at the puddings menue , we said yes to which we then waited 20 minutes again , after 30 mins we managed to catch another waiters attention and asked for the bill ! We left very disappointed with our meal out and the service we received.

Excellent selection of beverages. Cider was the best pulled one in the area so far. Bar staff always smiling. Covid compliant. See you next time for sure.

Came in for a evening meal with my family. We all chose something different from both the main menu and the specials menu and it was all lovely, served quickly and all still nice and hot,Staff were v pleasant and the safety precautions for covid were all adhered to. I often come here with my family as i always feel v welcome and they have a good balance of not feeling penned in but feel safe at the same time due to the covid situation. All in all a really pleasant pub with a lovely cozy feel. Highly recommended.

On arrival we waited just inside the door where the sign stated we should wait to be seated. The young barman then shouted from behind the bar asking for our name & if we had booked. He then pointed to our table & we sat down. No further information was given to us so we looked at the menu & waited for 10 minutes for someone to come over to us. I then approached the bar & asked if I should order there as we were not told. The guy apologised for the young barman & came over to take our drinks & food order. I must say I was somewhat disappointed with the temporary menu (although I fully understand that why it was limited) but the pub website clearly shows a different menu with fresh vegetables & creamy mash. The temporary menu had either steak or burgers all with chips. There was also fish & chips together with pizza. We ordered pizza which arrived after 15 minutes & was very nice but not the meal I had booked a table for. All I would say is that I was disappointed with the arrival re the barman & the food was not what I was expecting. Surely it doesn’t take much to keep the website up to date.

Great place friendly staff good beer

Pub looks nice on the outside, inside needs a bit of TLC. Customer on table next to us complained about their food, our food was not the best quality, had a burger and left half of it, not worth the money.

Fantastic meal! Couldn’t fault a thing, the meal was delicious and the staff were courteous and efficient. Will certainly be going back this week before leaving Torbay and the added bonus that it is 100% dog friendly! 😊🐶

This pub was an Excellent find at the end of a week’s holiday in Paignton. Booked over the phone with no hassle, temporary menu still had a varied selection of delicious meals on offer. The quality of the food was on point and the price was a bargain for such great food. Thank you for such a great meal.

We decided to call here tonight for a family meal out while on holiday from Cheshire. We were greeted by very pleasant and helpful staff, Seated quickly and given great service throughout. The food was also outstanding, the limited menu, still had a good selection to choose from and didn’t in any way diminish the standard of the food which was A*. The fact this pub is also signed up to the eat out to help out initiative is amazing because the food is well worth the price and to get a 50% reduction just topped off the night. Already hoping to visit again next year when we are back on our holidays. Thank you for a great meal and great evening. Andy Cheshire.

We visited The old Manor whilst on a weekend break from Weymouth on a Saturday evening. The atmosphere was great, The staff were very accomadating and the food was absolutely fantastic 10 out of 10 to the chef and staff

Popped in for lunch yesterday with a friend. I have never been to this pub/restaurant before and was very pleasantly surprised. The building is lovely and has lots of character. The food we had was very tasty, also it was reasonably priced. Good selection of drinks to choose from and we were made very welcome by the staff/owners. Had a lovely afternoon and will definitely go there again, well worth a visit!

The manor is without a doubt one of my favourite places on earth... so much so that when we were moving house my boyfriend and I made sure we moved within walking distance of the place! Been here tonight for dinner and the food keeps getting better and better. They have a new chef in and they make homemade pies which are to die for :) I would highly recommend this place to anyone passing by, once you come here you are part of the family. Thank you once again for another great memory. Xxx
