We booked this for a family reunion post Christmas meal for 8, as could not get into the main Last Drop restaurant. Overall it was a very nice experience, friendly attentive staff and good wholesome food. Would recommend the rag pudding, which is a bit like a steak and kidney pudding but with minced beef and onion inside. Much cheaper than the more formal Last Drop restaurant and we would definitely eat here again. Fairly spartan no frills setting and decor.

Recently took my grandson for afternoon tea intending to eat in the Tea Room. However as this was closed we ate in the Courtyard Bar. There ws a long wait for the food by which time my coffee ws cold but another one was provided at my request. The food was supplied with only one plate, despite there being three of us, no cutlery or serviettes and i had to ask for jam to accompany the scones. We were then brought marmalade!! Sandwiches were grated cheese and ham and cakes were poor and dry. I was very disappointed as the cost was £16.95 per person, so not cheap!

Not worth £2, let alone the heavy price tag of £20 p/p for a buffet (if that’s what you call it, I’d call it School dinners!) and a 1970’s disco Don’t really know where to start; drinks prices are a joke! (It’s Bolton not central London!) The buffet food was bland at best, the deserts frozen! The DJ!! OMG I’ve been to better School discos!!! Toilets dirty with no hand drying facilities! This place is stuck in the 1970’s (actually that’s an insult to the 1970’s). We should have been paid for ‘attempting’ to eat there, not the other way round! How is this place still in business???? Do us all a favour and close down (like you should have done 40 years ago). I’ve only one question to ask, are the lovely people of Bolton that desperate for a night out? Do yourselves a big favour, stay in, order a pizza and watch Saturday night fever, you’ll be glad you did!

Called at the hotel to have a look at the facilities as my partner was considering a Spa break for her hen party I had seen a Wowcher deal for afternoon tea and though it would give us an opportunity to see the place. To be honest the afternoon tea was that poor it was comically. The small cobs were around an inch I diameter and looked like they had been made for the borrowers. One had ham on that didn't even cover the cob it was so sparse. The other I think was gerkin and onion there was also a small wrap with cheese sandwich filler. The cakes were as small as the cobs a tiny soggy custard, a small tart with a sliver if strawberry, a chocolate along with a fairy cake that would just about feed a fairy. The only thing that was of any size was the scene however this could have been better used on one of the many stone walls around the place. If I hadn't already paid for the voucher I would have just left. The food was of poor quality and even at £20 vastly over priced. I will not be returning and we will be looking elsewhere for a spa break. If I could give a one word review it would be AVOID!.

Been here before and had an enjoyable time we live local so decided to walk up. We saw a small dog covered in mud lay on one of the seats so we asked if dogs were allowed in (we had ours with us) the waitress was lovely and said yes then the manager refused and said "are they your dogs outside? no they're not coming in theyre too big". This was quite insulting as there was a dirty dog sat at table level on the nice seats where food was served and our 3 would've been in the bar area on the floor and probably asleep! im not bothered if you dont allow dogs but it cant be one rule for one size and one for another just a well behaved dog rule would suffice, very dissappointed in the way your management dealt with this.

Having moved into the area in February this year, it's taken us till August to actually get up to our new 'local' and sample out the Sunday roast that they advertise so much! We've never actually been into the pub before and first impressions were pretty good! The only thing i did notice, was that there wasn't many people there. That wasn't a good sign. When we walked in, a man in a suit completely ignored us, clearly seeing that we didn't know where to go or what to do, So we went into the bar area. We ordered a pint of Fosters and glass of white wine. Approx 5 mins later, the barmaid served us a pint of £3.30 flat lager. We had to ask to put it in a different glass to get a bit of fizz! Then a short while later, i got my wine. My £4 glass of cheap white wine. We were given the choice of 1, 2 or 3 courses. We chose 2 and decided on desert over starters. Once we'd received our 'coupons' we were asked to choose our desert before we ate. Bit of a crappy move when I've not even eaten my main yet. I don't know what i'll fancy after i've eaten!! We sat at our dimly lit table and went up to the buffet area. There was already 5 people stood at the 'veg stand' with their plates under the heated lamps. They had been waiting 10 minutes for gravy! They were getting really annoyed and so was I. 15 minutes later and the chef showed up with the gravy. I was still standing at the buffet area and another 10 minutes later, he showed up with the meat (after i'd asked the waiter to get him AGAIN). The veg was cold and anemic, the meat was tough and the gravy was in short supply. I hardly touched my meal and my partner was the same. We were really dissapointed. We just wanted to get our deserts and leave. We saw the barmaid put out deserts behind the buffet area so we knew they were ready. After the waiter cleared our plates, we asked for our deserts... 15 MINUTES LATER, we got them. It's not like the place was rushed off it's feet!! I would have got them myself if i knew he thought folding napkins was more important! Saying that, the deserts were lovely. Best part of the meal. It's such a huge shame that we had this experience and looking at other views, it seems a lot of other people have had the same. It's right on our door step in a lovely little 'village' that could potentially attract hundreds of people each Sunday! We have a large family and we are so glad we didn't bring them with us like we said we would do. Don't waste your money. The prices are preposterous and the service/food was even worse. Sadly, We wont be coming here again.

The drop inn from outside looked amazing, like stepping into a qwerty quaint village, although inside the furniture and decor was very dated and looked shabby. There wasn't a good variety off drinks behind the bar, and very over priced. The staff was friendly, although quite flat. We booked Sunday lunch here last weekend as part of my parents' 30th wedding anniversary celebration (they held their reception at the Last Drop back in 1984). We were led to believe it was a carvery, but it was actually a table d'hôte menu. Having said that, the food was excellent with a range to suit most tastes. For the starter, I opted for tomato soup with a swirl of creme fraiche. I then chose roast beef which was beautifully tender and served with an assortment of fresh vegetables. I ended on rich sticky toffee pudding with quality ice cream. My mother chose baked fish and creme brûlée, whilst my father opted for the dessert of the day - an unusual but innovative peanut butter cheesecake. The service was prompt, friendly and welcoming whilst the atmosphere was 'olde worlde', but probably in need of modernisation. As with the Last Drop as a whole, this restaurant is a hidden gem, but very under-utilised. Nevertheless, I'm sure we will be back again soon.

We decided to visit The Drop Inn Pub in Bolton since we had visited years ago when we were courting and thought it would bring back happy memories. How wrong can you be? The courtyard is still pretty but not many shops. The Drop Inn is dark, miserable and the food is awful. We decided to try the carvery. There was a choice of beef and or gammon. The beef was rock hard and tasted as if it had been there for hours and the gammon was really salty. My daughter usually loves yorkshire pudding but she could not get her knife in to cut it because it was rock hard. The veg was bland. I know it is only £5 but it was awful and we all had indigestion afterwards! The tables are all squashed together so you feel as if you are sitting at the same table as strangers. Just to add to the ambience there is a large speaker just above your table blasting out football. What a lovely family meal out not!! Would definitely not recommend. We have had much cheaper and tastier carvery.
