The Dragon - Dive Bar North Laine Brighton in Brighton and Hove

I went to this all-you-can-eat sushi restaurant with my partner, and unfortunately, our experience was far from pleasant. Midway through the meal, my partner became unwell and vomited. To make matters worse, no one from the staff checked in on us or showed any concern. We couldn’t find any waiters or even a manager to address the situation. When it came time to leave, we were still asked to pay the bill, despite the awful experience. We will definitely never be returning.

A woman working at the bar was complaining how bad their food smells 😳 right in front of customers eating their food... that's just terrible.

Always go in for the pies, found out they are now doing brownies so decided to go for a meal. Both delicious and excellent staff as always.

Great service and good choices for beer. Had a red stripe for the first time in ages, but there were plenty of options. Live music was excellent and loved to see people of all ages hanging out; gave a nice family vibe. Didn’t eat but the food smelled and looked AMAZING.

Vegan pie with jackfruit is DELICIOUS! Local people are friendly and kind.

Fabulous to see this infamous Brighton boozer back to the correct name. Brilliant team running the shop. Well worth a visit. Nice cheeky garden out the back to.

Nice moody little pub to jump in off the lanes. The toilets could do with a good clean. We went early in the day and the toilet hadn’t been cleaned at all.

Lovely waitress (dark hair red top) and very nice food- I got the mooless moo pie and it was so delicious- best vegan pie I’ve ever had. Great value too.

I was profoundly disheartened to revisit a place I had previously rated five stars just eight months ago, only to find it drastically altered for the worse. The quality of the food has noticeably declined. The mashed potatoes were nearly dry, the pie appeared hastily reheated in a microwave, and the pork scratchings had an unmistakable hint of butane, as if they were hastily prepared with a handheld blowtorch rather than being properly deep-fried or baked. Equally disappointing was the transformation of the atmosphere. What once was a lively, welcoming LGBT+ safe space now feels like just another nondescript pub. The removal of LGBT+ flags and symbols, which previously signified its inclusivity, and the disappearance of the distinctive Green Dragon art from the pub's front and sign, have stripped away its unique character. This change seems to stem from the venue being under new management. This shift is evident and regrettable. With a heavy heart, I must say that I won't be returning and can no longer recommend this establishment to friends and colleagues.

Lively but not overly full pub. We found a table straight away, ordered drinks. The staff was kind. Very nice music.

Great cocktails and beer range but a guest of the bar staff kept on skipping tracks before they’d ended which… was self indulgent and infuriating.

If you love gin and you love Thai food, I would highly recommend stopping here for lunch/dinner. The extensive gin list means you can try something different every-time you visit. What’s also nice about their drink offering is there are a number of unique, local gins to try. The customer service is always good and the staff are friendly. If there’s a large number of you wanting to visit, it’s worth calling up for a table as the pub isn’t that big inside and you might be disappointed when you turn up and it’s full. On to the food - I always go for the pad Thai and have had the chicken, beef and prawn variations. The beef was a tad tough so now I stick with chicken or prawn. That aside, this place is serving the freshest, authentic Thai food you could hope for. The menu is big enough for you to have enough choice when you visit but not too big it’s impossible to make a decision. Give this place a try!

Great pub and an excellent stop off for a great pie and pint while you poke around the lanes. Lovely staff, hope it survives the change of ownership.

Love it here. Called in on my own while I was waiting to meet my friends, last Friday afternoon. Had to go in as I love dragons! 😊😆Just had one drink, if I hadn't already had a late breakfast I would have had food here as the pies sound delicious. Good North Lanes pub. Way above the average even in these parts. Not the most mind blowing beer choice but a couple of good ones. Great if pricey pies. Nice place for a couple while your other half is shopping! (great indy shops all around)

Excellent beers and fantastic choice of gins. Bar staff are wise and friendly. Go for a shot with your preferred choice of long drink 😉

Lovely little pub with a huge selection of gins two for one cocktails all day everyday. Plenty of choice. Pies available. Warm and cosy also has a small outside area.

Wednesday 19th April 2023 This pub visited at 8 o'clock at night It's really easy-going pub up date music played🤔 not my taste but I'm 60 The staff is really friendly and helpful 3 beers on hand pump, not cheapest pub but sel a vie such is life I liked this pub a lot about this pub and its attractions to getting young kids in the mid-20s to get into real ale a good thing

Saw this Inn/Pub on our way to our accommodation for the weekend and decided to give it a go. So glad we did as we had a very enjoyable evening. The staff were attentive and cheerful even though I believe they had a few issues with customers. In particular our server who was obviously very new to the job was doing his best to tend to our needs even though he’d tipped drink all down his trousers. The only thing that stopped me giving full marks was that we had to prompt a few times for our food order and my dish had the sauce missing which kinda spoilt it. I would like to know where the chef gets his chips from as they were very good

Me and my boyfriend have started coming here as we love a game to play over a drink. We've had a go at scrabble and chess and the staff really go the extra mile. Luke in particular was a very friendly guy, made the whole experience so nice and welcoming. Also does Pieminister pies, used to have these when I lived in Cardiff and excited to try over a pint soon! Thanks guys xxx

Pre booked the table via a website, nice and easy, excellent pie and mash, thankfully not to shy with the gravy and excellent service all round.

After many times visiting this lovely pub we decided to book there for NYE! Their food was amazing as always, and the staff bent over backwards to accommodate us into the new year! Cam in late on a weeknight with friends, and have been a few ties before. Music was too loud as could not hear each other, but was open late and had a good range of gin.

We popped into this cosy pub for. Welcome break from shopping and were pleasantly surprised. The pub was warm cosy and welcoming. We enjoyed our afternoon in the pub so much we decided to go back on Sunday evening to try the pies and quiz night. The pies were delicious. Really well presented, piping hot, full of filling and so tasty. The staff were very friendly and clearly enjoy working in the pub. The Green Dragon is now our favourite pub in Brighton and we will be returning.

Mentre passeggiavamo a North Laine abbiamo deciso di fermarci per bere una birra. Visto che era l'ora di pranzo abbiamo deciso di prendere una Moo Pie, è stata una piacevolissima scoperta. La carne di manzo all'interno era deliziosa, così come la salsa da aggiungere sopra e il purè di patate. Ambiente molto confortevole, ci tornerò sicuramente.

Helpful barman, decent beer and cider, comfortable 'college style' room and atmosphere, which suits the location. A nice alternative to the olde-type traditional pubs.

Pie and a pint for £10 is the best thing I have experienced in Brighton. Well worth the money, then you get the pie and mash, which make you feel like you've underpaid. Nice gaff

We have visited this pub several times over the last few months. The level of service is always excellent and the young manager who serves us is always friendly kind and courteous and makes a real effort to interact with us. The food is great, we absolutely can’t get enough of the pies. portions are generous and the food is freshly cooked and arrives promptly. The garden is lovely to and is a great sun trap in the afternoons. 5 star would highly recommend

Great service from all parts of the team making you feel warm welcome right from the start, Charlie and jack made for good conversation and created such a fun and friendly atmosphere. Got a little bit of everything for everyone worth every minute!

This place is amazing the staff were so nice and friendly especially Matthew who was very patient with my food order and gave great service. The food was excellent I almost liked the plate clean and the inside is nice and cosy for a rainy day !!!!

I cannot recommend this pub enough!! The food, the drinks and the staff are all welcoming and very friendly ! There is also a secret beer garden which is nicely decorated !!

Great pub the staff is so welcoming! They do great shots! I have spend most of my time when I'm off work in here! Great beer! They have so many options for Rum and not just bad taste Captain Morgan! Great quality Rum, Gin, Vodka, Wisky! Jack, Xavy, Ricky and every other staff are brilliant costumer service! Big 5 for you guys!

Enjoyed my time at the Green Dragon. The staff are great. They are really friendly and attentive. The place was nice and clean. The food was delicious! I have Coeliac disease and was very pleased that they catered for that. I had a gluten free pie and mash with mushy peas and the most delicious gravy! I absolutely recommend this pub!
