Sat in conservatory, but overall cleanliness was not adequate and there were ants and flies in the plants. The food was very good and staff very pleasant but due to cleanliness will not be going again.

I visited The Dragon in Colgate 7 April with two guests and high expectations. Although I'd phoned to book for three a few days beforehand, on arrival we were told our booking was for two, so "wait here while I lay another place". My two guests had heard the BBQ ribs and Dragon's mixed grill were highly recommended and ordered these. I settled on Seafood mixed grill (Red Mullet, Sea Bream, Salmon, Calamari, Prawns with a Lobster Bisque served with New potatoes). None of the seafood had the slightest hint of having been grilled, no grill colour or flavour. Overall, very little flavour at all really. Lobster Bisque, prawns and calamari were luke warm, the rest slightly warmer. Such a waste of a rather small portion of potentially great seafood. I opted for fries rather than new potatoes, and received a tiny portion. Out of politeness to my guests I did not return the dish, nor photograph it, the further I progressed, the more I realised I should have done both. My guests were not impressed either, neither the BBQ ribs or Dragon's mixed grill seemed to have been near a grill. While the BBQ Ribs were flavoursome and tender, they were more slow baked than BBQ grilled. Also a small portion, the Dragon's mixed grill really needed the grill, chicken with soft, rubbery skin, less than premium cuts of meat. Very disappointing, and expensive, will definitely not return or recommend.

This was our first visit to the Dragon, our friends had been once before. The food was excellent as was the service with friendly and efficient staff. My only problem with this place was the prices. 2 medium glasses of wine, £19!! Beef and ale pie £30!! I wish them every success but I won’t be returning.

We booked for Sunday lunch and ordered roast dinners. I ordered the lamb which was okay, my husband ordered the Dragon Roast and was not impressed with the food, it arrived within 5 minutes of ordering. We were not offered any sauces or salt and pepper, until we could catch the young staffs eye to ask. We ordered desert, the chocolate fondant was average, although presented well. The ice cream was nice but it took about 45 minutes to arrive. Our meal cost £100 for 2 courses and 2 alcoholic drinks, which we thought was overpriced for the overall quality. The young staff were pleasant, but there was no atmosphere and we won’t be returning any time soon.

My son and I visited here today for lunch, we both ordered a first course and a Sunday roast for the main course, my son having beef and myself lamb. Both of our first courses were good apart from the fact that the menu said the baked camembert was with chorizo and my son received bacon lardons instead and my scallops were without seasoning with none provided on the table. The roast main meals arrived and looked fine, I tried my lamb to find I was tasting beef so called the manager over who was serving tables, he told me it was definitely lamb but may taste like beef as it had beef gravy, I said I had never tasted flavourless lamb meat that tasted of beef and if so why would the chef cover it in beef gravy and not lamb gravy! His reply was 'so you want me to waste this food'? My reply was 'I am unhappy with the tasteless lamb but would be happy to have a chicken roast to replace it to which I was told 'No, for if I were to bring you a chicken roast you will say it is not chicken'. Unbelievably rude! I was forced to eat just the side vegetables without the potatoes as my plate had been removed. The dumb thing is, we of course asked for the lamb roast charge to be removed from the bill when if he, like any eating establishment would with an unhappy customer, gone ahead and replaced the three poor quality slices of lamb with a chicken we would have paid the full bill. My further research shows that a lamb roast that tastes like beef is lamb that is particularly lean, poorly prepared, or from an older sheep (mutton), which can result in a milder, less "gamey" flavour that is closer to beef in taste. If you are thinking of going here for a meal I would completely avoid it with the poor quality meat and the managers bad way of handling unhappy customers forcing them leave hungry and angry.

Great looking place, fantastic staff. Came with family for Sunday Lunch. Had to take a photo of menu . Different but fun. Starters, soup is a must. THE DRAGON ROAST. Make sure you can swim. The whole meal is just smothered in Gravy . Very salty gravy as well. Totally ruined the complete meal. It’s the same on the Beef meal as well. I think what’s most annoying is the Manager could see we were not happy with it and just pushed his young staff over to try and deal with it. Still paid the complete Bill but will never being going back. Food with Potential, Great Staff , Poor leadership.

Very disappointed with food - chicken burger dry and over cooked - pork pasta dish full of fat - medium and medium rare grills both cooked the same! All in all a disappointing evening - plus prices have rocketed since previous visit 2 weeks ago!

In the main I'm not a great fan of pub chains as the quality can be inconsistent, however the Dragon was by far one of the best examples we've come across. The welcome was sincere and spontaneous and we were quickly shown to our table and a drinks order taken, being a H&W; pub their beers obviously featured and the lack of choice was made up by being well kept. The menu was quite comprehensive but not so much so as to overwhelm the kitchen with steaks featuring a lot. We opted for the Tomahawk which was cooked to the chef's recommendation of medium rare and was delicious, I mean really tasty; the older member of our party was well catered for with a smaller, child's portion of fish and chips. It is encouraging to see that child's meals can be just as inviting as their larger counterparts; not everyone with smaller appetites wants to eat children's meals. Overall I wouldn't hesitate to dine here again based on this experience of a well run pub and kitchen with a professional yet personal touch.

Went to the six bells with friends for an evening of drinks in the beer garden. It started to get late and I fancied some food so went for the Teriyaki Salmon on the menu. The food was amazing. Service was prompt and friendly, food was delicious and the atmosphere was good. My friends also ended up ordering food and raved about how nice it was. Great choice of food options, drinks, plenty of outdoor seating and also a quiet restaurant at the back. Highly recommend to anybody looking for a friendly family pub that serves good food and has something for everyone. If I could give more than 5 stars I would.

We were visiting the area for a house viewing, and called in on the off chance of getting a table without booking. We were met by apparently friendly staff who took us to a table. I asked for a gluten free menu, are you gluten free or coeliac? he asked. Once I said coeliac the attitude changed, I could have had gluten free if I’d booked in advance, the chef was covered with flour, so no, not even a soup! I was made to feel very uncomfortable and the whole place went quiet over it. My friends had a lunch but I had a bag of crisps. I tried to stay cheerful and make a joke of it. Everyone I have spoken to since has said, ‘ what not even a soup? Couldn’t the chef even wash his hands to open a tin? How difficult is it to have a gluten free roll in the freezer in case. I’m sad we are moving around here and already found a plac3 to avoid like the plague.

We were there for our first visit for a Sunday lunch with family. My view was the pub is really trying to improve itself and it showed for our visit. Not perfect and the Yorkshire puddings reminded me of school! But the roasts were good. enough, the day was perfect, dog friendly, staff friendly and great Harvey’s ale. All in all a very happy visit.

Been to the White Hart lots of times over many years and it was a favourite a few years ago. But having been last week it’s really gone downhill. Food was ok, nothing to shout about (it used to be amazing food) service was pretty terrible and the atmosphere was poor too- place was empty and silent, then half way through the meal they put loud and booming beaty music on, which seems completely inappropriate. Orders were forgotten, or given wrong. We were never offered desserts. We were made to shout our orders from the table. It’s a real shame and I hope that the current owners are able to turn it back to what it was, or hope that someone else takes it on and makes it great again!
