While staying at Gleneagles we ate here twice. The selection of Indian food was very good and everything that we ordered was excellent. I would suggest trying the Tandori Chicken. We also had a few good drams of whisky, in front of the roaring fireplace, after dinner one evening. Very reasonable and very nice.

I booked a table at The Dormy for myself and husband which we were really looking forward to. We went for a drink in the bar, Auchterarder 70 first, which we were quite surprised by the lack of customer service and basic cleanliness, there were quite a few empty tables but all had dirty glasses and crockery, so we took a table at the window with a lovely view over the golf course. The waitress did come over and took our order, she cleared the dirty glasses but did not clean the table which was covered in crumbs, I then thought they would clean it where the drinks came, but sadly did not! So we took our drinks through to the restaurant rather than sit in a very dirty bar! This takes me to the customer service in the restaurant, which was very poor. On entrance we were left standing, the head waiter or Maitre D made no effort to welcome us or make eye contact, surely that’s the very least you would expect, it really doesn’t matter on how many stars a hotel/restaurant has but being polite and welcoming is the very least and costs nothing! Food was good but please take on board the comments that are being left here about customer service. Adding 12% onto the bill for service charge is a bit much when the service is so poor.

After finishing a round of golf we arrived, the 4 of us, to have some drinks and food. When we arrived, half the venue was closed. We were initially seated and said we would be seated and served food in 5 minutes. After about 10 minutes we asked again if we could get food. Again, we were told to wait, finally the manager came and told us they were at capacity and could not serve us. Very dissapointing

Went as per many years to the Dormy on the first night of a week long stay in June. As usual - the service is poor - and bordering on offensive. I love the Daal Makhaani, and ordered a naan bread. When it came it was white and tasted of raw dough. A replacement did not come with that course. The waitress took it upon herself to say it was just the cheese that made it looked undercooked - and to make a point - informed nearby diners - loudly - that it the naans were not undercooked - just had cheese. When the bill came we had been charged for what had been sent back. No apology. When we were paying 12.5% for service - this time that was £25 per couple - I do expect service, not to have a sly dig made at me. Which takes me onto my second restaurant at Gleneagles. True service, by which I mean a greeting, nice table (not facing the door to the kitchen), wine poured for us, water topped up, good food - and check in that everything was fine. The difference between the Birnham Brasserie and the Dormy is so pronounced. If you do like actual service - go to the Birnham. After many years of going to the Dormy to be met by bad service, and there is ZERO point of giving feedback to the Dormy Manager - I think I've finally hit the end of the road. It charges for premium service - but does not deliver it. It's simply not good enough.

Awful meal at the Dormy on Saturday 15th June. The starter of crispy fish according to my dad was awful. The meal took ages to come out and when it did to say it was mediocre was an understatement. I had a salmon Caesar salad which was so basic. Nothing to it. A few flakes of salmon on a bed of lettuce that looked unappetizing. My dad had an Indian dish which he later said was the worse Indian food he had ever tasted. He is originally from Bangladesh so would be the best judge. My mum had salmon with broccoli and it came with chunky chips. What a weird combination. She ordered masked potato but said the fish was very over cooked. The coffee was cold at the end of the meal and they claimed they had run out of decaf. Disgraceful for a place attached to the Gleneagles hotel. The bill was well over £200. A waste of money in my viewpoint. My family and I won't be returning in a hurry. Avoid please.

Booked The Dormy for my husband and daughters birthday (which I was advised was noted on the booking), while I expected nothing, a simple ‘Happy Birthday’ on a plate would have made a 9 year old girl very happy and my husband would have appreciated the gesture. However no mention of any birthdays was made. We had an unfortunate ant situation and we had to ask to move table. Food was enjoyable but we weren’t blown away as can’t say there was much on the plate and our daughter was served her lunch on a toddlers plate that stuck to the table by suction, not age appropriate at all. Service started well however quickly disappeared, with no one asking mid meal how our food was, did we need any other drinks etc. Having eaten here previously I had high hopes however the whole experience was average and disappointing. Dress code also seems to have gone out the window with football shirts and joggers worn, whilst everyone has their own style it does take the class away from a Gleneagles eatery. On the whole won’t return and can say there are definitely nicer places in the area to visit.

We dined here during a golf break and were welcomed in despite the rest of Gleneagles’s restaurants being fully booked. The Chicken Milanese was superb as was the wine we chose to accompany it.Our waiter was on the ball and helpful. The lighting by the fire is very subdued and it was hard for both of us to read the menu. Thankfully the torches on our phones came to the rescue. Not sure why a Scottish hotel has such an Indian influence on the menu here but I’m sure it is delicious.Dined here on many many occasions and it was as good as always.Always recommend a visit here.

The food was extremely disappointing, the atmosphere was so loud and more like a kids club and the service wasn't exactly great. The food- the portions on some of the meals we ordered were absolutely tiny! The curries were kids sized portions. Whilst they were probably the more tasty options, there just simply wasn't enough of it! The fish and chips was disappointing- found several bones, the batter was soggy and gave me an upset stomach for most of the night. The desserts were okay, however I received a cold sticky toffee pudding which was a first. The atmosphere- you could hardly hear each other speak, and we were only a small table of four. Iv never been in such a loud restaurant and certainly wasn't expecting it to be like that. The service- whilst they were all friendly, they took far too long to serve us. Dirty plates were sitting there for a while. We also ordered a jug of tap water for the table, however they claimed they ran out of jugs. When I asked for glasses of water instead, they looked at me like I came from Mars. I absolutely will not be back. I feel 2 stars is probably too generous.

However, the waiter removed our plates whilst others hadn’t finished their meal then proceeded to remove the plates of those who hadn’t finished eating. The sides were also really good. The staff were efficient and polite, and the surroundings are very comfortable. I would like to have seen more beers available on the menu though. I'm not sure if cocktails are available at The Dormy as they are in the other bars on the resort, but if they are then these should also be displayed on the menu as we certainly would have tried some of these if we had been made aware that they were available.Overall, a very enjoyable meal.

We as a family have enjoyed many meals at the Dormy & always thoroughly enjoyed. So because of this we chose this venue to celebrate one of our groups birthday. To say we were disappointed is an understatement as the fact is, it has to be one of the worst meals out we’ve ever had! We happily pay a high price for good quality food but it is a disgrace what was served up. The fish hadn’t been filleted properly & was full of bones, plus the batter was so greasy & hard. The majority of chips were solid & inedible. The lasagna was just thick stodgy mince & white sauce with absolutely no flavour & was served with a scatter of lettuce leaves dumped at the side like an afterthought! To make matters even worse it was obvious that Covid-19 restrictions were not being taken seriously & in fact we couldn’t wait to leave. We were told not to bother wearing a mask unless we really wanted to. No care taken to keeping distance & tables just as they usually are, no screens or distance between! Put it this way if it hadn’t been that we got a table right at the back we would have had to leave & having tasted the awful food it’s a pity we didn’t! We have eaten out at a few different restaurants & hotels since restrictions have eased & this is the first time we felt unsafe, you actually wouldn’t think anything was different other than the staff wearing masks. When small businesses that certainly don’t bring in the profits if this place can manage to follow the Scottish Government guidelines it’s a disgrace what we witnessed here yesterday!

The hotel maybe 5 star but the Dormy is definitely way off the mark. We always see the Dormy as a proper treat and over the years have enjoyed many family meals there. Despite the heavily tandoor/curry influenced menu it reads well but sadly in reality it fails to deliver. Service at the Dormy is what you expect, slick and attentive and the views, even through the mist and the rain, are always great. But it’s the food that really lets it down. My pet hate is fish n chips done badly, the batter was heavy and oily, the fish sits on top of the chips making them sweat and they lose their crispness. The tuna and cucumber sandwiches appeared as a brown malted monolith to all things bread and butter, simply cut in half with a scattering of crisps, totally lacking refinement, actively needing some TLC in presentation, a wee splash of salad , a dash of slaw or drizzle of dressing would make all the difference And finally the king of sandwiches, The Club, seems to have been dethroned. It ticks all the boxes when it comes to its contents but sadly the free range chicken appears to have been replaced by some grey shredded chicken mayonnaise spread. Eating here is meant to be an enjoyable, pleasurable experience, the service out weighs the food and you don’t eat out just because the service is good. There are places locally that do it so much better with a real emphasis on the quality of their food compared to that of the Dormy. I will definitely think twice about eating at the Dormy again.

We recently had lunch at the Dormy. Cards on the table. I love Gleneagles. I am a golfer and regard Gleneagles as golfing heaven having played all the courses at various times. That means I have eaten in the Dormy several times. Like the main hotel my previous experiences have always been first class but I detected a slipping of standards at this most recent visit. The staff were welcoming on what appeared to be a quiet day. Firstly, the staff were slow in offering us a drink after bringing us water and we had to ask to see the wine list. The food was slightly disappointing. My club sandwich was feeble. At a golf club, I always used to use the Dormy’s version as setting the standard. Not now. A very insipid bland sandwich served with a few crisps. No salad, no fries. I did ask if it came with fries and was told it did but it turned out not to be the case. I had to order some as an extra. My wife had the mushroom risotto which she felt was a base risotto with a few mushrooms thrown in at the end. I wish I had opted for the bangers and mash which looked good. We felt the food didn’t match up to the excellent surroundings which is the first time I could have said that.

Ate here twice for lunch over a few days. Ambience is nice (if you book ask for a table overlooking the golf course) and excellent welcome. The menu is varied so plenty of choice. The pizzas are always good (real pizza oven) and I tried the calzone with a mild curried chicken filling. (This is the folded over variety). It arrived looking like the most ginormous Cornish pastie! It was beautifully made and tasted great, but the quantity was excessive. No other food was possible! I left about half of the pizza dough as a result. My companions had sandwiches (club excellent, pastrami good too) and fish and chips. This, too, was enormous. This dish used to be a couple of nicely battered pieces with skinny fries in a little basket - perfect size. My partner was overwhelmed by the jumbo chips!Having said that nice lunch. My second visit I tried the mackerel and quinoa salad. Unusual mix but tasty.

I've have been visiting the Hotel for over 68 years now and it is one of my favourite locations, apart from St Andrews. We went to The Dormy for tea and coffee and sausage or bacon rolls on arrival. Since the sausage roll consisted of a small Cumberland sausage, I opened for that and was delighted with what I received. The guy sitting next to me ordered the bacon roll and it was terrible. It was very streaky and not cooked nearly enough, but he was too shy to complain. I did it on his behalf and Lucy very promptly and pleasantly exchanged it. So my friends an I selected our options from what was on menu. I had asked for poached eggs with side of tomato, mushrooms and beans. My face fell as I was presented with pile of what looked like dry toast, rubbery eggs, ONE sad mushroom with one tomato for company. No butter offered for toast. I had a pot of tea from a teapot with a dodgy lid. The only thing I can say I truly enjoyed was the company of my friends and the view from the place.

We had an evening meal here in what is a very busy restaurant. The staff were friendly but the service a bit lacking as they forgot the only starter we ordered. The food was good but not excellent. There is a reasonable selection of food on the menu. The views over the golf course are interesting. Worth considering.

The menu here is very varied and the portions are good. My wife had chicken tikka Caesar salad a dish I’ve never seen on a menu before and tells you a lot about the type of dishes on the menu.

Had booked a special occasion with the Family and turned up at 7pm Saturday evening to find out I had mistakenly booked a table for 7 at 7am by mistake. The restaurant manager asked us to have a drink in the bar (which was a very pleasant experience given live music was on) while he sorted something out. After less than 30 minute wait he ushered us through to enjoy our family meal. Food was excellent and even though they missed an order which meant a wait for myself, they kept me informed of progress and applies some free french fries to stop me from wasting away. I would definitely recommend this asa great option when visiting Gleneagles whether you are playing golf or not.

Having multiple food allergies is challenging. But the manager Mark was not only knowledgeable and accommodating but also incredibly personable. We enjoyed the food (for vegans, the tandoori cauliflower is a must... for grain, dairy and sugar free, the steak and chicken were excellent) and even more, we enjoyed the camaraderie. Great staff. And Mark was truly the best!

This eatery is within the grounds of Gleneagles and it is about a five minute walk, which on a nice evening is fine but when we stayed it was bitterly cold and my husband and I were chauffeur driven from the hotel, which was lovely. The meal was very good and the staff lovely.

My other half and I had an exquiste dinner at the Gleneagles dormy clubhouse. The atmosphere was truly unPARed in the surrounding area and the warm hospitality of all the staff made such an experience all the more magical. We waited by a delightful and attentive young woman, Anna, who gave us fantastic service. The haggis was sumptuous and certainly a favourite to recommend. I will make sure I re-visit on my next excursion to Scotland!

My son treated me this month to breakfast on our day off. We have tried a few places but this was by a long way the best cooked breakfast that I have ever had. The ingredients were top notch and the view over Perthshire was stunning. All of this does reflect in the price but I reckon it was great.

The staff and surroundings were lovely. However, the risotto I ordered tasted like something I could have bought in Frankie and Benny's or a Tesco cafe, to be quite honest. If I'm paying so much money for a meal I expect the quality of the food to match the price. The best part of the meal was the bread.

Ordered the iconic Cullen Skink (£9.00) which usually comprises large flakes of smoked haddock with potato pieces in a creamy soup. Unfortunately the local version at Gleneagles majors on corn on the cob which is my least favourite vegetable by some distance. The fish and potato had been too well whisked together so it resembled porridge. The young waitress sensing my disappointment asked if I would like another starter and I readily agreed to the tomato and basil soup which was delicious.

Popped in here for lunch with our dog. Decent amount of choice on the lunch menu. The steak pie was steak with a pastry top, rather than the pie we expected. The omelette was tasty and the portions were large. The staff were friendly and the service was quick.

Almost 5 pounds for a cappuccino for which no order has been taken at first, for which you then have to wait more than 20 minutes, with a spoon and sugar missing and, as a highlight, a 10% service fee appears on the bill? As beautiful as it is in Gleneagles - unfortunately we didn't like it at all...

We were enjoying a nice drink in the beer garden one sunny afternoon, when a youth started shouting & swearing at us because we were English (which was funny in itself because none of us are 100% English). The locals were appalled at his behaviour & the landlord immediately ejected him, however, it cast a shadow on our visit.

Went for lunch yesterday with my parents and dog on arrival our table was clearly marked ours and there was already a bowl of water awaiting my dog I thought this was super sweet and thoughtful, the waitress we had was brilliant with my wee Jack Russell she gave him a few biscuits and attention he loved it. Service was quick and the food as always was delicious. Lovely warm welcoming place to eat out and we always choose here when we go for lunch. Great menu lots of choice.

I give up, I really do. Have stopped using the restaurant because the food is pretty poor and the staff are surly at best. This morning I wanted to purchase a food item which they have stocked for years. First young girl I asked couldn't understand what I was asking for, second one said they didn't stock it although she has served me in the past and the third one said it had sold out but they might be getting some in in a couple of weeks. Several other local people have mentioned how rude the staff were. Hospitable is not a word you can use for this place and yet years ago it used to be good on all counts.
