Lovely little pub just on York outskirts. We had the Turkey Pie of the day and Seabass. Both of which were delicious. All the staff were efficient and really friendly. We will be back.

Absolutely live the Dormouse. Becky was our waitress today and she always makes us feel extremely welcome. I had the chicken, bacon and avocado salad which was a really good size portion and very tasty and my two friends had the lasagne. Both said how lovely it was. Think it was Max and Reece who were in the kitchen today. Thank you for making our lunch date extra special (as always). X

Booked a table for a family dinner ..there was plenty of choice on the menu and all the food came at the same time ( we’ve been to places where half come straight away then the other half come 5 minutes later) the food was very tasty and a decent portion..the service was exceptional ..marek was very knowledgeable about the menu and was very friendly he made sure we all had enough drinks and nothing was too much trouble for him..we will be back we all had a very enjoyable evening thank you marek

Food, service and surroundings all just fantastic. Really couldn't fault any part of our experience here. Desserts, drinks, mains, everything was brilliant. Italian sounding man who was our server was lovely. Signature Burger I had was great and the vegetarian wellington the wife had looked and tasted incredible. All dishes well presented too I must say. Sticky Toffee Pudding plus Choux Bun Banoffee desserts very good and Lavazza Coffee spot on. Also nice to see a touch of the North East with Fentimanns drinks on offer too.

Me and my family went in for Sunday dinner today and was very disappointed with the quality of food. My wife and I had a roast dinner whilst our daughter had the kids Sunday dinner. The Yorkshire puddings were flat and small and seemed frozen. The roast potatoes had a hard/plastic like outer case and were burnt. The vegetables were all undercooked and difficult to eat. We've been to a lot of vintage inns and to the Dormouse and had wonderful meals in the past but today's meal was a real let down.

Went today for a late lunch. Disappointed, quality is lacking. The pie was mainly a crusty top. The salad was dry and the chicken was really dry. Mine was poor as well.

Gorgeous, warm, busy, friendly pub. Staff great, food delicious. Always come to eat here if staying at the Premier Inn. Recommend.

Very cold even though fire was roaring. No heat coming out and the draft from the windows was horrific.

We visited for my Grandma's birthday and were really looked after. Lovely food, good service, although it was quite cold - I expect it would warm up as the day goes on (table was booked for lunchtime and the lovely real fire had only just been lit)

Met as a group of 3 friends for Friday lunch on 28th January. Excellent service by Marek and his colleagues. Nice food. The very cold room temperature made the experience much less enjoyable, however.

This was a typical chain pub style food. The service was excellent and the food was what you would expect. I would recommend.

We visited this venue on a Sunday evening and the restaurant was fairly busy, however we was attended to quickly by a member of bar staff & sat down to our table. The choice of food was of a good variety with some options away from a traditional Sunday roast. The food arrived in good time and was absolutely delicious! I would definitely recommend and visit again.

Karen was a lovely server who made sure me and my sister had a wonderful time. The food was great and the atmosphere was cosy.

Had a fantastic time tonight with my entire family. Food was amazing so props to the chef on that one. But warren was an amazing server. Quick nice to talk to and had a great laugh with us! Definitely will be returning again and I hope warren will be my server again! Had me and my entire family laughing so much!

Food and service were excellent, but it was darned cold!

We had an absolutely wonderful meal for my mum’s birthday. Warren was brilliant and despite us having a large party, it felt like everyone was really well taken care of. The food (cooked by Scott) was great and everyone had a brilliant time. Thank you to the whole Dormouse team!

A great meal had for all at a birthday celebration! Warren was a personable and attentive server and the food (cooked by Scott) was delicious. the sticky toffee pudding was a personal fave! We will be returning :)

I visited on a Monday night so it was quiet, but everyone was friendly. I had a Hunters Chicken Schnitzel with a side of garlic bread. The garlic bread came out slightly cold but otherwise the food was excellent for the price. The chicken was cooked nicely, the chips had a good texture and I enjoyed the salad too. Karen (who served me) was polite, professional and friendly and the food came out very quickly too. I ate in the restaurant and didn't stay long enough to use the facilities, so can't comment on those. Ditto the outdoor area.

Great food, very well presented. Many options on the menu are cheese based so if like me you don't like cheese you will be restricted. The steaks are fantastic though.

Staying at the Premier Inn next door and came in for birthday meal for hubby. The service from Mariusz was outstanding. The food was exceptional and very reasonably priced. If we lived in York we would certainly be regulars. As it is we will be back at some time, for sure.

On my first visit with friends, I was not disappointed. Our server was Natasha, and she was wonderful. Attentive, funny, entertaining, and a total sweetheart. I arrived late to the party and yet my food arrived on time with everyone else's, and was delicious. I went for the vegetarian christmas meal, and it was gorgeous. I helped my friend finish her dessert, which was so tasty. Good value for money, gorgeous country pub, incredible service and tasty food. Thanks again to Natasha for her service, we will be returning as we had a great time!

Well, THANK YOU! A fabulous evening with good friends, but really helped by the staff who really were fabulous! From Jason who ensured every customer approaching the bar was greeted and with great banter, to Natasha who is always there, to the amazing Christmas fairy (whose name I can't remember) BUT dressed the Dormouse with Christmas beautifully throughout, and Colin - oh sorry - Warren! 😏😉 But also the fact I kept adding guests from an original party of 6 to 16, and nothing was too much bother, and all handled beautifully... and the food, even in a large party, was perfect too! So thankyou again, and I'd say the Dormouse is at it's best at the moment! HAPPY CHRISTMAS!

So great we came twice. First night we came in as a large party with kids. Food is great and staff was very accommodating. Came in another night just the two of us for cocktails, Jamie the mixology master catered to all of our needs and then some. Fun fact: he is a cutie and his favorite color is pink

I had macaroni cheese with garlic bread and a side salad. Delicious! Friend had fish and chips another had hunters chicken. It's a lovely place but draughty.

Limited vegetarian choice. The menu hasn’t changed all year at the sister Dormouse and Fox and Roman York pubs. The greens and grains salad gets worse, is small with a handful from mixed leaf bag of salad and two tablespoons of bulgar wheat and a smidgen of olive oil. Appalling for £15 and no love in my opinion, though I am a very good cook and know my greens and grains. This time the tasteless salad was served with atleast 2 black hairs; I stopped after a couple of mouthfuls - first I choked wondering what the stringy thing was stuck in my throat before my next bite, then curiously feeling and unravelling one very long black hair wrapped in a fork of oily leaves and sliced pepper which trapped inbetween my teeth, which made me gag. I’m blind in one eye and we were sat in a really dark area behind a brick column. I’d brought my very elderly relative out so I didn’t need to cook on a Friday after a long day at work followed by a late hospital visit and this did ruin our infrequent night out having arrive exhausted already. However, to be fair to them, the waiter immediately offered to remake it personally, but I couldn’t face touching another meal there again after that, especially as what was delivered looked extremely sorry for itself and ill prepared. The duty head waiter did come over and offer again as I was there with nothing, but I really couldn’t face consuming anything at that point, and by way of an apology he said he was wiping my aunts gammon and drink complimentary. She did say the meat was nice. I use to like it there as it reminded me a little of the moors pubs of home (albeit on York’s ring road) when I don’t have time to drive there, but the fire wasn’t lit, the table chairs are hard to sit on now and the pub is now showing signs of neglect, dust and cobwebs and wear and tear. Not ideal for vegetarians, but good for carnivores I think. Such a shame. Note, they did try to apologise and atleast my aunt was fed. It was okay as I soon passed through being hungry and the duty manager did ask me if I wanted him to come over to help us with the door. Not a great experience for us, but we’re in the minority, aged disabled and a vegetarian, so probably not the ideal patrons either.

What a wonderful experience we had at the Dormouse. Warren was an exceptional host who was accomodating, friendly and had a great sense of humor. His presence made our visit special and we reccomend visiting just to meet him. The food was well presented, very tasty and in good portion sizes. We had a plethora of drinks alongside our meals which were refreshing. The staff were very helpful and flexible with our booking. Overall an excellent experience!

Lovely food and well looked after by Karen!

Called in for lunch after a morning at clifton moore and was very pleased we did. There was an excellent choice of beers lager and cider including cask conditioned hand-pulled real ales which were in excellent condition when we visited. We both opted for the steak sandwich, which was excellent. There is a nice pub garden, plenty of car parking and the staff are friendly and welcoming. I have been back when i have been in the area as it is a good pub for food and drink. The pub is dog friendly.

I really like this classic Vintage Inn. The pub is very comfortable. I have only been in the dining area, though away from any dogs. The food was very nicely presented and tasted good. Although, I must have got the last chips in the bag. Lots of bits! I didn't catch the name of our waiter. Sorry, not English but an asset to the pub. Very friendly offered good table service.

Staying at the hotel next door and popped in after a long journey to get here. The pub was quite busy but managed to find us a table. Lovely atmosphere and the food was amazing. Not your regular pub fare to say the least! Would definitely recommend as the quality of the food met the price!

3 friends met at the Doormouse for wine and dinner. The food was lovely, although to be very honest could have been a bit warmer. Karen was our server, she was delightful. An asset to the pub.

We had fantastic time in Dormouse yesterday. Place is really nice, food very tasty, staff very friendly and service fantastic. Our table was served by Mariusz, who kept checking on us and made sure we had everything we needed.

Toady was our second visit and again it didn’t disappoint. Food was lovely (pie of the day!) and a really good portion. Service was also faultless by Mariusz, very professional and friendly. We will be back again.

We first visited here for my 40th birthday, many moons ago. We were disappointed on our last visit to York to find it closed. However, we were thrilled to be able to visit this time around and it was every bit as lovely as I remember. The pizza was huge, hot and tasty, my other half said the burger and sticky chicken starter were to die for and my lemon tart pudding was out of this world. Definitely to be recommended and we will always call in on our visits to York…we come for the Dormouse as well as to see the sights!

We really liked the atmosphere and feel of the pub and, on the whole, enjoyed our meals. We were served by Karen, who was efficient and friendly and she did a great job. The only downside was that some elements of our main course weren't sufficiently cooked, particularly the stuffing and the broccoli, which I couldn't even get my knife and fork into. We would return, in the hope that this was a one-off. The desserts were beautifully presented and delicious.

Booked for 12 people for a birthday meal, the welcome, service and food were excellent. All the staff went out of their way to look after us and were professional, friendly and made the visit memorable.

Such a shame but the Sunday roast was so disappointing. Cold and over cooked. Very dry vegetarian main and no gravy or sauces provided. Potato’s and veg bland. For nearly £20 I would have expected much nicer food, or at least apologies that I could barely touch it.

Have been here several times over the years as its a handy place to eat when visiting the near by Vue cinema.Always been a good experience,good value food,good portion sizes & plesent staff.Karen who served us was lovely. I do find that certain standards are slipping there were serviettes scattered all over floor in entrance that wasn't very welcoming & were still there when we left 2 hours later.The toilets to were grubby,floors wet & doors want wiping they were all sticky & grubby and need repainting. We had a lovely meal couldn't fault it or the staff just needs a bit of a spruce up.It wouldn't put me off going again as we love the venue & where its situated is lovely in summer to sit out,but I hope standard's of cleanliness have been addressed & improved on my next vist.
