I grew up going to that restaurant as a McDonald's so visiting as an adult to see it reopen as something different was one of those look kids I used to come here conversations. The food was nothing to shout about, really should have gone to McDonald's. The drink was flat. The place hasn't been decorated since it was an open maccys and the toilets are exactly the same as they were very early 90s still with original fixtures. It may be a huge building to maintain but to be polite about it it's a craphole

We went as a family for fish and chips going on previous recommendation (few years previous) and I have to say I’ve never eaten anywhere as filthy as this place. My wife took 1 of the kids to the toilet only to find them blocked and waste everywhere. We will never go back and am seriously considering getting in touch with the FSA about the place. Absolutely disgusting!!

We had lunch at the dolphin it was not as good as it was before this visit was disappointing the cutlery needed a wipe and the toilets had to be desired still only working, one plus point the fish and chips was boiling hot and through enjoyed then

Been before and is a good restaurant but on today's visit I asked for a jumbo haddock only to have served up 2 small haddock if the waitress said they have no Jumbo's I would have asked for something else as 2 fish means more batter and more fish ends instead of one big price of lovely white meat I'm not a moaner as you can tell from my other reviews but I believe it was bad practice I will go back ad it's a good fish restaurant but will ask next time

The place is quite basic and would benefit from being updated, but it's clean and tidy. Our food was freshly cooked to order and was very enjoyable. A good size pot of tea with extra water. The guy who served us was friendly and efficient.

First time we've visited here, we found a comprehensive menu which offers plenty of choice both of us decided to have fish and chips . Ordering is from the counter, the young guy who took my order was really pleasant I tried paying with my credit minor thing is they only accept cash and do not do cards but that's unusual but not the end of the earth. We had tea for 2 which is a generous pit each plus extra water. The food arrived promptly and I have to say the chips were brilliant, crispy and golden brown. The fish was a regular size one and I have to say was plenty. The batter was crispy and the fish was white and really tender. It tasted and looked really fresh. I've worked in a fish shop and visited many in my time and have to say the product they served us today was too notch who ever prepared it knows what they are doing. As someone said "I'll be back"

Went to Brid today and first place we found that did cod and chips and not haddock and chips. Food was really nice, good portions, good service and not too expensive. Decor a bit dated but looked clean. Wife went to toilet upstairs and two were out of order and third looked like it hadn't been cleaned for a long time. This needs addressing but overall experience was ok.

We called in yesterday 20th at 4pm an hour before closing time really great service and food cooked to perfection. Great staff and a decent price...highly recommended

Yes very disappointed this is the second time we have tried this restaurant, the first time service was very very slow considering we were the only people in restaurant. A year later the service was to say the least hideous we will have to try somewhere else.

We visited at lunch time on Thursday. Very quiet in Bridlington and not many in the restaurant. It is dated and could do with some new seats as they are repaired with tape. We were in the self service and ordered 2 regular fish and chips, a kids fish and chips and kids sausage and chips. Food was freshly cooked and didn't take long. Very impressed with the fish and chips but the kids sausage was very small. We all enjoyed it and would go back as a great price.

My wife decided to treat me to a Sunday afternoon meal,which is a rarety to a restaurant her parents took her to as a child , well she is 40 now and they can't have changed the Deco since she was a child but it added to the charm of the place normally I'm paying so wife doesn't hold back so it's my turn ,Jumbo haddock chips peas ,pot of gravy to my wife's dismay apparently gravy doesn't go with fish and chips, well it does on my plate ,bread and butter ,wife said it should be cut into triangles like she remembered ,all washed down with a pot of tea ,we had window seat looking out over the harbour to South beach near spa ,the fish was lovely white succulent meat nicely browned chips,not enemic like some places all in all we had a lovely meal felt nicely full and my Emma paid , will definitely be back

This restaurant just off the harbour is a very ordinary homely place, friendly staff and a plain menu but the quality of the fish and chips were second to none Perfectly crisp batter tasty, moist flaky haddock , golden chips and beautifully seasoned mushy peas, what more do you want for a day out at the seaside

Visited on Friday of half term. Relatively clean and tidy, food was good and hot with enough for everyone. Only thing was one girl was trying to run the entire downstairs for the majority of our visit this made ordering take longer than it should have as she also had to pay bills, clear tables etc. Overall good but not great.

I have been to this restaurant many times and we have had good food and service we called in on 16/2/2019 not many people in so we was shown to our table and we waited a good 20 to 30 minutes before our food was ordered .We sat there for at least another 30 minutes and all around us people complaining about the length of time they had been waiting,when the food came the chips were cold and didn't look very inviting at all also minus the peas that we ordered very disappointing.

An average score may suggest less than acceptable, but not so, it was just how it should be. Clean and warm on a cold winter Sunday, polite and efficient waitress, food that was good for the price...everything we'd hoped it would be, so will definitely go again.

Popped in on new years day as walking past and wanting somewhere out of the cold to enjoy fish & chips. The Cod was one of the nicest tastiest iv ever had. Served hot too. Im not normally a chip fan but they were so nice too! The young lady who served us was very polite and friendly especially to our little girl, she couldn’t have done anymore. Would 100% recommend to anyone and will definitely come back on our next visit to Bridlington.

We were visiting the area on a mini break and decided to try The Dolphin for lunch based on a previous visit over 20 years ago.

Visited today on main street entrance. Had to wipe tables and baby chair down before using. Cutlery dirty as were baby change facility. Dead flies on juice machine at counter. Toilets disgusting. Seagull feathers stuck to entrance rug. Missing flooring. This is what you CAN see!!!! Food was ok. Just ate and left. Kids were starving and cold day. Such a horrible place for Bridlington.

This is nice place out on the pier. Parking can be an issue but worth it. Excellent clam chowder and fish and chips.

We have been here a few times over the years and we have never been disappointed yet. And this visit was no exception. The food was freshly cooked and well presented. We all had large fish and chips and it was definitely large. The service could of been better but no real complaints. The decor is a little dated but still quite pleasant. Great little hidden gem but please don’t confuse this with the one with the same name at the top of the street. Will call again on our next visit.

On our mini break to brid we popped into the Dolphin Restaurant for Fish & Chips and the Fish was massive and lovely and white with no bones in at all. Its kinda like a spit an sawdust self service restaurant but worth the visit for there massive tasty fish.

Visited bank holiday weekend, very attentive waitress (Louise), the food was delicious and very fresh. Me and my son had the fish and chips, so nice to find somewhere that does homemade chips and there was plenty for both of us

Well my day started off absolutely amazing, and then a girl in a sweaty waitress uniform handed me my bread and butter. I was over the moon to finally have some scran infront of me - only to find out they had given me 8 PACKETS OF BUTTER for only 2 SLICES OF BREAD! Well I was in such a state of shock I completely freaked out and went to cry in the toilets (ps they were rank).

Ok it may not be modern, but I've always enjoyed the Fish & Chips when I come to Bridlington, The fish was freshly fried lovely crips thin batter, 4 x regular Haddock Fish & Chips, bread and butter 4 drinks for £ 36.10 can't really go wrong. Will be back on my next visit to Brid.

Won't taker for fuzzy eaters like myself saying they won't offer scramble eggs instead of fry eggs!

Popped in for a quick snack and they were more than happy to accomodate to our requests. Very friendly and quick service, food was excellent and the curry sauce was beautiful! Would recommend and would visit again!

Meals consisted of old, bruised, frost burnt scraps for chips, scampi was cheap quality, curry sauce incorrectly mix. Crockery, cutlery etc. were filthy with stains and baked on food, tables and seating needed to come in contact with some hot water and detergent, toilets were totally disgusting and to complete the visit the (chief?) was extremely rude when advised about the quality of the meals. The best part of the visit was the door closing behind us when we left!

Food was ok, service not too bad, very very dated decor, toilets poor and very smelly. Pricey for the quality.

My wife and I popped in for fish and chips for dinner, there was only a couple of people in but then there was just us two. The fish and chips were lovely although the chips were abit under cooked but that's not my problem. I never complain about what I buy because I don't like a fuss but my fresh orange had a strange taste so when I mentioned it to the waitress she apologised and took it away my complaint is about the other waitress behind the counter telling the other one we had to pay for the drink as I'd taken a couple of drinks of it I found her attitude highly rude as I was valid in my complaint and the customer is always right even if there not(which I was right) I'm never one to not pay for anything but her whole demeanour left me with nothing but anger so if you pop in please don't complain.

Over priced with very poor service wouldn't Return again the kids that worked there couldn't be bothered in the least

It fails to impress me that an english seaside resort that lands its own fresh fish has such a poor selection to offer guests and visitors.. Initially we wanted to visit Jaqs fish bas which has been recently refurbished and offers a wide range of fresh fish but it was closed and after walking around several fish restaurants that only seem to sell cod or haddock ( boring) we arrived at The dolphin wh offered a fish plate,,, crispy cod loin, crab cakes, garlic prawns and pan fried mackerel with potato salad chips and salad.... we ordered, a lovely waitress,,, who then returned to say there was no mackeral so we chose extra prawns..... she returned 2 mins later to say thay had not enough variety of fish for a fish plate???? THey were so close to the harbour I could have scooped the fish out myself..... turns out the only selection was cod or haddock, so we chose what was billed as jumbo Cod..... yes you guessed, the only cod was bog standard pieces but rather than inform the customer they just put 2 pieces on the plate.... that to me is double fish and chips...... jumbo is a larger thicker more flakey piece of fish.... pleanty of chips and great batter, fish skinned and fresh but not what we asked for..... then to complicate matters we ordered bread and butter which arrived after 15 mins and having dispatched one of the waitresses to buy a loaf..... This was a sunday and BRidlington was packed, the service was great, lovely young waitress... the toilets are disgusting and akin to something you would find at a festival , dont get me wrong.... the food we ate was good but nothing of what we wanted to order which I found very poor indeed,,,, some people like hake and halibut and skate and more of the wide variety of fresh fish available and if any readers can point to where else I can get this in Bridlington I may return.... otherwise its The Magpie in Whitby who till reign supreme,,, very dissapointed

We are not great fish and chip eaters, but when on holiday!! Decided to try this place on the harbour. Ordered large haddock and chips with mushy peas, as we were hungry. What came was a medium and small piece of fish with chips and peas. Bread and lots of butter. The Medium size would have been sufficient however we tucked in. Now others may be better placed to evaluate but from our perspective the batter was thin, crispy and not greasy and the fish meaty and very tasty. Chips again were not greasy and tasted like fish and chip shop chips should be, or as I remember them to do.

My husband and I visited this restaurant for the first time today..the staff were polite and friendly and the food was great. We both had fish and chips and they were freshly cooked..fish was fresh and was delicious. I visited the ladies toilet afterwards and what a let down! They were clean enough I guess but smelled awful..the whole room smelled like people had been having a pee on the floor for a very long time.. I would eat here again but I would not visit their toilet again..hence 4 stars instead of 5

I have been coming to this restaraunt on and off for above 30 years and we have always had nice food.Me and my partner called in the other day on our day trip to Bridlington we had the Steak Pie EXCELLENT cannot wait until next time.Thank you

Been in here several times, food is pretty good and they do a very good cheap cooked breakfast.

We chose to go here for a change from our usual place and so glad that we did. The choice was good, I chose lasagne with salad and my partner had the dolphin grill. The service was exceptional, the staff are friendly, cheerful and polite. The food, although a little slow to arrive, again was excellent. Will definitely return.

Been coming for years, had my doubts due to negative reviews after expanding, but.....I'm very glad I stuck with my decision to go back and try the best fish and chips in Yorkshire once again

We called in at The Dolphin late in the day on Sunday 6th August 17 to eat before driving back to Derbyshire. The staff made us welcome and due to a large family they did not mind us moving tables in the end we sat together on a large round table we ordered our dishes some dishes they had run out of due a busy day which was not a problem because we enjoyed the meals we had freshly cooked hot and plenty to eat.We were the last ones in the restaurant but at no time did we feel they were rushing us to close for the day we would like to thank all the staff at the Dolphin and it finished a perfect day at Bridlington we would recommend The Dolphin to eat and will be back.

After our cruise we thought a bite to eat would be in order, so a very short walk from the harbour led us to a cafe in the shopping area where we had sausage egg chips and beans. Very hearty. Clean, comfy seats, generous portions and fast, polite table service. What more can I ask? Light airy surroundings too. Defo worth the top star rating, especially for the money.

We were on holiday in Bridlington for the week, we visited early on in the week and enjoyed the meal so much we returned before making the journey back down south, the food is delicious and portion sizes are huge! I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a lovely meal at a very reasonable price

We were looking for lunch place and came across The Dolphin good food, plenty of room for people with disabilities. Prices very good value for money, We had fish and chips which were excellent.

We were in Bridlington. We wanted some fish and chips. We found The Dolphin. The young lady who took our order was friendly, but not 'over the top'. And the man cooked it fresh for us. Didn't have to wait long. A word of advice, to anyone visiting Yorkshire for the first time. When they say 'Large' they don't mess about ! As for the restaurant, it's a basic 'no frills' place. Spotless. Sensibly priced. And proper fish and chips. Next time we go to 'Brid.' we know where we're going for our tea. We can recommend it.

We decided to go into this restaurant as it was advertising a roast dinner instead of the usual fish n chips. It was nice and relaxed in there not too busy nice atmosphere and great staff. We did order the roast beef for 2 and a childrens pizza meal. We was amazed with the beef we noth said how much it reminded us of our grandmas sunday dinners and the puddings too

We have just been in for dinner and we are both very impressed with the service. The young girl was extremely polite. The food was delicious and very large portions, reasonably priced too. We didn't have to wait long at all. I had the jumbo haddock which you can see was a big portion. We'd definitely go back and would highly recommend.

A large and spacious restaurant with table service just by the harbour. I visited with friends and wasn't disappointed. The menu is varied and the prices were very good. I had the haddock and chips which came with thick bread and a large pot of butter and was about £7. The haddock was lovely, well cooked with good batter.The staff were very helpful and friendly. The décor could do with a bit of a revamp but it was clean and tidy.A good place for a sit down and a good meal.

Not used this restaurant for a long time proberly 2o ago it was good then. So we have visited 3 in the past 4 weeks. My wife had fish n chips while I went for the roast. My sister in law had a salad when she came with us it was massive.The place is clean but a bit shabby inside it needs a revamp or a good decorating. The waiteresses are lovely going about their work smiling and very polite to the customers.This place is good value for money a really decent hot meal every time.

We had a great lunch at the dolphin. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Very good menu and my hubby and I decided to have a prawn cocktail,they were massive and served with lot's of lovely salad and rose Marie sauce, bread & butter. Then hubby had a cod,chips and mushy peas and I had haddock chips and mushy peas. They have the most lightest batter. The chips were delicious and peas were gorgeous. The prices were very reasonable, the hubby enjoyed his birthday meal. But there's no photo of the fish and chips because they looked so scrummy and I forgot. But needless to say the plates were clean.

I had the sea food platter which was tasty and well cooked nice and fresh my son had the fish in parsley sauce which came with lovely fresh veg and its own pot of parsley sauce which was a nice touch both where very good will try something different when we deffo return and very well priced to .

We travelled to Bridlington for a skydive, but as it was a bit windy, we went for a good wander about Bridlington. After some fun, we stopped by the Dolphin - it looked like a family run business, and the sort we all prefer to support and eat in.I think they must have had a rush as the service was a little slow, and the tables untidy, but soon our dishes were ordered. Our food arrived, and as the chips were a different colour to the light colour we're used to, my wife just asked whether the food was vegetarian friendly. We were told that everything was cooked in beef dripping. I don't mind this as I am not vegetarian, but my wife obviously does. We asked if we could exchange the dish as it was not something that she could eat, but we were told that if we wanted something more, then we would need to order and pay again because we should have asked what they cooked their food in. I explained that my wife has been vegetarian for over 20 years and never has had to ask, and that the vast majority of places we visit display some form of information about what the foods are cooked in. Nevertheless, the manager (or owner), who came over after a member of his staff said we could have a refund, then said that he would not refund nor exchange as we should have asked and because he didn't have £5 to just hand back to people. I accept that we could have asked, but having spent so long not asking, this was a surprising and uncompromising approach to businessI am sure that many locals prefer beef dripping, but we're from the South of the country and are very much used to chip shops using vegetable oil. Nevertheless, it did spoil out visit - I genuinely understand that we might have asked, but to get an utterly unrepentant reply was not the service I would expect

Went with my wife for a day out at Bridlington and ate at this fantastic fish and chip restaurant. Whenever were are in Bridlington we ensure we always eat at this restaurant. It is without doubt the best ever. The food is cooked to order not like some others were it is cooked and put under a warm light to keep hot. The quality is outstanding and portion size is very good. Price wise again good value for money. The restaurant is very clean and bright with comfortable seating. The staff are first class and the young lady who served us was very polite. Cannot wait to go back.

Just stopped for an early supper. Very friendly and helpful waitresses. Haddock fresh and perfectly cooked. The first table in - glad to have attracted some more diners by sitting in the window.

Visited here last week with my family and boyfriend. We're not greeted when we walked in - okay as self service - but were stared at from across the room by staff. Ordered food and I have to say the food was excellent hence the 3 stars, fish was lovely and chips nice and well done how I like them. Weren't asked if all was okay but I'm not sure if it was the type of place too. The place did look fairly unclean and quite tacky and needed modernising. However the food I could not fault.

All aspects of our fish and chip lunch were superb. The batter on the fish was absolutely first rate. The chips were also excellent. In fact even the curry sauce and mushy peas were spot on.

After using this restaurant for years we were very disappointed with the food that was served.. the chips were very over cooked, the food was swimming in grease , the bread was dry, and the food had little black bits on from the fryer.. the hygiene of the place wasn't brilliant either..it was late in the day and maybe this was the problem but I wouldn't recommend it to anyone

Fancied fish & chips but t we were looking for somewhere we could sit inside to ear and found this place. Shown to out table and served very quickly. The food came shortly after our drinks and was pipping hot. No complaints in either quality of the food or the standard of service. I would eat here again.

It's the end of the season, the restaurant was quiet & yes it could probably do with an upgraded but it was clean & tidy. We were greeted on arrival & shown to a table. We have eaten here before, the fish & chips are excellent. It's freshly cooked, well presented & not expensive.

Oh dear we have been using this establishment for as long as I can remember the last time 3 weeks ago . Today I took my elderly mother for lunch and headed straight here bypassing many other restaurants. The problem was the managers rules. My mum being 87 does not eat large portions preferring to use kids menus so as not to waste food. We was told that as she is over 12 she would have to have the full size serving meaning waste food with no exception. OK fine we left and went some 50 yards to JO'S to a warm welcome lovely food a third of the price and importantly what we wanted. Many years of dinning has stopped.

Called in to the fish restaurant on Thursday 1st sept, although the fish and sausage we ordered was very nice, the restaurant was grubby, the windows were filthy. All very young staff, the girl on the till looked fed up and was chewing chewing gum constantly. Such a shame as it was the former McDonalds, and could be a lot cleaner and more inviting.food was acceptable, the premises are not

First of all, I've been to The Dolphin many times over the years, always enjoyed my meals there. Stayed in Bridlington last week and met my niece and her young children who popped across from Hull. I suggested The Dolphin from past experience.....Standard fish and chips for me, what I normally have. The fish was 'small', and a sparse serving of chips too. No lemon. No offer of tartae sauce. Most worrying was my nieces daughter had the children's chicken and chips meal. She ate one piece of chicken and said she didn't like the taste. When we looked at the other pieces they were bright pink inside!!!!!! I immediately called the staff and explained. The chef apparently "apologised" and said it rarely happens (!)They said we didn't need to pay for her meal but no offer of anything else or to reduce the overall bill. Not that it's about the money, but a chef should be able to cook small pieces of chicken???????? Wouldn't take long to cook at all.Needless to say I'm very unhappy about this experience and sadly that'll be my last visit to the restaurant and I've been going there since I was young. Shameful.The only saving grace is that the serving staff were very polite but the ambience of that place has vanished along with what I perceive to be standard quality food that's cooked to a standard that's safe. Undercooked chicken is VERY bad for you........

We had lunch here today during our day trip to Bridlington. We both had fish, chips and mushy peas with bread and butter. We were both impressed with our meal and really enjoyed it.

Just perfect. I couldnt of had a better meal. Great staff lovely deserts to hahaha. Highly reccomended for anyone visiting the area.

Chips tasteless, complained to staff said he would sort it and come back, never came back, as well as dirty seating area more like a school cafeteria, unless customer service!

I love this restaurant. I had fish and chips and they were divine! The portions are big (you get more than you pay for!), the fish is amazing and the chips are delicious. I love mushy peas and they gave me loads! Other members of the party had other things, such as the seafood platter and everything looked delicious. I'd definitely recommend to anyone!

Fair prices for sitting in. We went to the downstairs restaurant. Nice staff. Not over faced with a huge plate of chips. Decent sized fish. Will go again.

Always lovely food. Husband loved to come here purely for the vinegar because it's strong and he doesn't have to drown his dinner to taste it. Always good sized portions and never had a bad meal.

Me and my mum came into the resturant on tuesday afternoon for abit of lunch, well what a mistake that was. The resturant looked dirty and grubby which really on seeing this i should of turned round and walked out. The service was shocking, one waitress was stood leaning against the counter with the most miserable face ever and the waitress that served us didnt even know what food they had available on the menu. The food well i had the homemade lasagne which was cold and very tasteless, my mum had roast beef which was just a pile of mess on the plate the beef was like chewing rubber and all the veg was raw. We werent offered any sauces so i ended up having to ask for mayo which when it came it had clearly been sat in the kitchen uncovered and not in the fridge because it was warm and had a crust on it so i didnt even end up touching. No check back was done and even when our plates were cleared we didnt even get asked if everything was ok with our meals all we got was DO YOU WANT THE BILL. I work in a resturant myself and i would be disgusted if my resturant was like this one and one things for certain we wont be coming back again

This is our favourite place to eat fish and chips because the food is always arrestees and hot. The prices are in line with other restaurants in the area, which is higher than inland towns. The toilets could do with a face-lift, but usually clean.

I've had considerable difficulty grading this fish and chip cafe. The fish was really nice with a traditional crispy batter. Probably beef dripping. Portion good size also. Then the chips, which looked prepared in house, were acceptable.Service on the slow size which is okay if it means the food is freshly prepared. Staff wandering around cleaning tables, not too effectively. Service a little impersonal. A good four stars.But why the difficulty in grading. Because the disabled toilet was filthy. Now it may have happened just before I used it in which case I guess the staff might not have had time to do anything. But toilets should be monitored.Now I don't live in Bridlington and am unlikely to be calling in the dolphin again. If I did and if the toilet was in the same disgusting condition then I should have been in touch with environmental health, as much as anything because if the toilets are dirty what is the kitchen like.So far I've suffered no ill effects from eating there but I'm not sure I'd go there again despite the quality of the food.And sorry guys but until your hygiene is sorted out I can't recommend anyone else to eat with you either.Which is why the grading of terrible.

last thursday me & my friend cames for our dinners, for starters the price was just as much as the other fish & chip shops in brid.I don't know why we went in the windows looked filthy you couldn't see through them, when we made our order at the counter the food took a while to arrive & when it arrived my friends fish had a black hair that went right though the fish which made megan feel sick and put me off my food.

Called in after a day watching birds. had fish & chips and burger and chips with onion rings. Portions were very big, service was quick and friendly and prices were very reasonable. Would go back.

Had a day out and called in for lunch, thoroughly enjoyed my meal. Being a coeliac I was catered for with no regrets and will go back on my next visit. Bridlington is not a place for gluten free foods, beware!

Nice place for fish and chips. Service a bit sporadic but nothing wrong with the food. I had jumbo haddock and couldn't see much difference between my meal and the rest of the family's who ordered large. £2.50 dearer for a bigger plate and a bit of smoke and mirrors. Food was good though.

Day out in Brid so it's got to be fish & chips. Had an excellent meal and prompt and polite service. Very reasonably priced and only 2 minutes from the sea front. Highly recommend this place.

We were warmly welcomed by the waitress and shown to our table. The restaurant is tastefully decorated and has a nice, peaceful ambience. When our meal was served we were blown away by how the food was presented and how much there was and it tasted as good as it looked. All in all we were more than satisfied with the service and the quality of the meal. Well done and keep up the good work.

I have always enjoyed the fish and chips at the Dolphin,it is up to standard as far as hygene and service goes.

Went on a visit to brid on a lovely sunny day walked in and got stared at like we was aliens. Sat down food order was taken quickly altho all she sed was are you ready to order? All the time we was there lots ov staff not having a clue what there doing making us feel quiet uncomfortable when I Asked for salt I got told to use the sugar no thanks!!!! Carnt complain about the lasagne I had was lovely fish and chips a bit small over all didn't feel like we had a good experience.

called in for fish and chips although we was expecting table service this was self service and got confusing as you went to the counter and ordered an number of fish and chips you then have to say how many peas, gravy etc and we took the drinks on a tray and they fetch the meal items to our table, however, once sorted meal was good. down side toilets upstairs and although the room was clean the toilets had poor flushing condition. food wise I would call again and the staff was polite and helpful

Been coming here for years last couple of visits not as good as previous but yesterday was terrible, 1st the place was empty took the waitress 10mins to seat us then when ordering she had the worst attitude I've ever seen from somebody that is supposed to be the face of a company. Once the food arrived it was cold and very oily. I don't mind fresh fish and accept we may find a bone or 2 but after taking a number out the food was flat cold and ruined. When speaking to the waitress to complain she was very rude and had a face like she was chewing a wasp. We even refused our 3yr old sons ice cream as we didn't want to be in that environment anymore. I even had to ask/tell her I was not paying for my food but would pay for my wife's and son's which I thought was a fair enough gesture. After paying for my food she then huffed and muttered some sweet nothings under her breath. Very very poor would definitely not recommend and will definitely be on the phone to environmental health on Monday morning with the lack of hygiene both restaurant and staff had.

I visited with my family on a sunny weekend in April, 2016.. Remember that one? We had the fish n chip dinner.. I know.. Who'd have thought it eh?? The service was friendly, along with the clean tables, and excellent food, I think I'll be coming back soon..

Me and my mother in law took my 7 month old daughter to the dolphin restaurant today the one down the slope towards the harbour and can't believe how much it's gone down hill always loved this restaurant but today our experience went from bad to worse. First we walked in and got stared at then the waitress got us a hair chair which the strap was broken so we asked for another and it was dirty so we had to clean it with baby wipes then we sat down and noticed how dirty the floor was then we got our food but the waitress then came back and asked if we wanted bread and butter with our fish and chips which we had paid for and then my mother inlaw asked if there was any baby change facilities the young girl said no but checked with the manager and got told we would have to go upstairs to the other dolphin restaurant to change her which is a joke why should I have to go to another restaurant to change her so had to change her in the toilets on the floor as she had a poo whilst we were still eating then to make matters worse there was no hot water to wash my hands so my mother inlaw spoke to the manager whilst paying and told her about having to change my baby on the floor and having no hot water so she replied in a snotty tone of voice did she tell you about upstairs yeh but my baby was covered in poo as it had leaked through her nappy so couldn't go upstairs then about the hot water she says there in the middle of a refurb well there no signs of a refurb going on but you should still have hot water they shouldn't even be open without hot water it's disgusting the only good thing was the food it was loverly but the service and cleanliness is terrible I won't be going there again really not a child friendly restaurant.

Ate here on a Sunday afternoon. Wasn't too busy which we liked as we have a 1 year old. Staff were helpful but wouldn't say friendly. They all seemed either new or very part time. A lot of standing around. The food was average the fish (haddock) was more batter than fish. A bit disappointing when having a trip to the seaside.

I will be totally honest, the only reason we came in here was because most other places were shut last Easter Sunday, but we were very impressed.The restaurant was not busy, and we were instantly escorted to a table. The service was excellent and the food was delivered very promptly.The haddock, cod and scampi were well cooked, the chips were excellent, and even the wife commented on how nice the mushy peas were..Portions were more than adequate, food well cooked, service excellent and the place was clean and tidy. On our visit we can not fault The Dolphin.

This set a little way from the main promenade and beach in the bust town shopping area. It is a simple set up similar to may pubs - get a seat, note the table number, order at the servery where you get any drinks too, return to your table and the food is brought to you. It is reasonably priced, good quality food - and there is plenty of it.We felt that it was a good choice on this occasion and would visit again.

We've been here several times but this time the food was greasy, the tea was undrinkable and we had to ask 3 times to get a glass of water. Times up!

We called in at The Dolphin restaurant yesterday, initially for a coffee and cake, but we were enticed by the menu and opted for lunch. We weren't disappointed - my husband chose to have the steak pie with chips and peas, whilest I had the all-day breakfast. The steak pie was a huge slice of pie, made with good quality steak filling and a lovely pastry crust. The chips were chunky and ....good. My all day breakfast was lovely. I passed the slice of black pudding to my husband who enjoys BP (and I do not), but the other items -2 rashers of good quality bacon, two sausages, two fried eggs, two hash browns, beans and tomatoes were excellent - so good that I ate the sausages which I can usually pass on. A coffee for my husband and a pot of tea for me (made three cups) finish out meal for a total £14.90. We hadn't been in here before yesterday, but I would definitely go again. It was clean and welcoming. Complements to the Chef.

First time we visited here, despite passing it on several other occasions and saying we'd give it a try sometime. Well worth the money. Food hot, tasty and served efficiently. Would definitely go again.

We visited their smaller unit on Prince Street and it was great the staff were very friendly and the special cooked breakfast we had was very good quality and unbelievably was only £2.25 each we were able to visit 3 times in the week because we didn't have our little Westie with us if they become dog friendly we would visit more times we visit Bridlington about 60 days a year
