We went to the dolphin last Sunday , had a brill roast dinner . The chef was so brill The food outstanding .

Had a great Sunday lunch here when on holiday in Combe Martin. Friendly atmosphere, tasty food and great staff. Well done.

Very accommodating, we came with our family of 6 and a dog - explained our dog was nervous of other people and dogs so found us a quiet corner, also kept their pub dog away from our which helped keep our calm ☺️ Ordered traditional pub food, 6 full and happy tummies. Would go again, and thank you to the manager / owner who made adjustments around us

Was recommended by a local and we weren’t disappointed. Sat upstairs in the restaurant overlooking the beach & sea. Good sized starters and the steak main was cooked nicely. Friendly staff and good service throughout.

We had our wedding here and they did a fantastic job. Helga and all of her staff went above and beyond with the welcome drinks, canapés, carvery, and desserts. This was the perfect venue as it was only a two minute walk from Arches where we had our ceremony. We also hired one of their recommended bands for post-meal dancing and they were fabulous as well. All around great venue, highly recommend!

Great outdoor sitting area. No customer parking however there is public car park just across the road. Main meal was delicious and brought by chef with smile on face 👌🏼 Children meals were tasty too we would have just added some greens as none of kids meals came with any. Fish from fish and chips dish on kids menu was sadly ready made one rather than fresh fish but we could have ask that prior to ordering. Fish from the main menu was delicious. Tasty chips and gluten free beer available. We would visit again.

Lovely place in an ideal situation right by the beach. Large, sunny beer garden. Food was excellent and very well priced. Staff were friendly. Will definitely visit again.

Visited to check it out for an evening meal. Bar (and later the beer garden) stank of weed. Clientele were effing and jeffing. Beer garden has potential but needs tidying up. When I asked the bar lady if dogs could go in the bistro she said "absolutely not" - alright, love, a " no" would have sufficed! Can't comment on the food as we won't be bothering.

Food took ages to get it and then it was overpriced and not really very tasty. I paid £17 I thin it was for each meal and it did seem pricey. I would not go there again. It is a nice location just needs to have some investment to make it really work I feel. Met later a guy at another pub called Josh and he mentioned the owners there did not get to deliver well. Such a shame.

Absolutely fantastic food and brilliant service- also very dog friendly. We were staying in Combe Martin for the week and came here twice as the food was absolutely delicious. Great music, lovely and welcoming. We will be back when we return to Combe Martin. Thank you :)

Great fish platter for 2 people, excellent cider, very friendly staff

Went in for a meal as we are down on holiday, which was absolutely delicious. Had the plaice, new potatoes and salad along with a few muscles and king prawn. Wonderful.

The best food I've eaten in ages. I had the hake with the mussels. Can't recommend this place enough. The staff were lovely.

A charmless, scruffy pub with charmless scruffy locals, had a decent pint but the full blast trance music blasting out kinda ruined the vibe. Shame because has tons of potential.

Lovely place lovely food and lovely staff

We went to the Dolphin Inn first for drinks and saw the food, so decided to eat dinner there the following day. I had the fish stew and highly recommend it. The mussles were delish, and the biggest and juiciest I have ever eaten! My partner had the curry and enjoyed his too. The portions were generous. We went on to stay for drinks as the atmosphere was so relaxed and the staff super attentive and friendly. Overall a warm and inviting place to eat, drink or while away some time.

My wife and I, with our two dogs (Vinny and Daisy) stayed in Combe Martin from the 6th-12th October. We visited the Dolphin Inn a few times during our stay. We firstly went for drinks and were made to feel really welcome, they made a fuss of our dogs (who loved it). We went back for Sunday carvery (which was amazing) and also visited again for an evening meal (very, very good). They brought some left over meat for our two dogs which they absolutely loved. Couldn’t recommend any higher for great food, great drink and friendly staff and atmosphere.

Excellent group meal for 24 people! They went above and beyond to serve us a group meal after a days hard walking. Food all hot and delicious plus loads of choice and quantity!

We was here last week Me and hubby came for our last meal of our holiday I had steak he had the fish stew both meals was amazing 🤩 all cooked fresh to order. Lovely staff highly recommend ❤️

Booked for the Sunday Cavery, which was outstanding . The selection of meats and huge selection of vegetables was amazing . Not only the selection but the quality and taste was right up there.

Initially everything went well, my wife and I ordered lunch and drinks at the bar, service was friendly. Our food arrived in reasonable time and everything looked fine, however when I tried my fish pie it was cold in the centre, I went back to the bar to quietly point this out to the barman who had served us, he apologised, then at this point the chef walked passed, the barman called him over so I again quietly explained that the centre of my pie was chilled, he said that there was no way my food could be cold and basically called me a liar in what I can only describe as a confrontational manner. The barman to his credit took control of the situation and ordered me a new meal and offered me a drink on the house and apologised for the chef. When my food arrived was piping hot and adequate however I didn’t enjoy it or the whole experience. We left without having the house drink offered.

Popped in on the off chance that we could get a meal post Kayaking tour and really enjoyed the food and friendly service. Great beer and friendly atmosphere.

Booked a table on the Saturday morning for 8pm that night, was told it had to be for 7:30 pm as they stop serving food at 8pm which was fine even though once there they carried on taking food bookings well past 8:30pm. There is a large area as you walk in and a pool table to the right, we were seated on a couple of stools next to the pool table even though there was plenty of room in the more spacious area, we had a lovely view though even though the window contained more flies than the bar did people, again didn't want to moan as it was a young lad who seated us (could have only been 13) and he was the only positive about the whole experience. The bar staff were clueless and literally served locals before people who were already waiting, this happened with me and the local apologised and let me go first but the cocky male bar tender just pulled my drink, it was this same bar tender who had a go at the very young waiter shouting at him to just serve the food to the table in front of people, the manageress then ran up the stairs to have a go at him, very awkward. The food was basic, i had chicken burger which was ok, my wife had the cottage pie that came with veg and about half a pint of water. Love Combe Martin but will not be going back to this place.

Knowing that coastal destinations can sometimes be difficult to get into on the day, we had called ahead of our holiday to book a table. We we’re advised that parties of our size (8) needed to pre-order and pay a £50 non-refundable deposit, again, not uncommon for holiday destinations. We pre ordered from the menu sent to us, it later transpired that this was only half the available menu. We called ahead twice more to arrange payment of our deposit however our calls were not returned. We arrived on the Tuesday evening, and were seated. Food quality was mediocre with a number of the starters, mussels, prawns & mushrooms all appeared to have the same sauce with either chilli, herbs, or garlic added prior to service depending what the menu stated as their accompaniment. Starters were cleared whilst some diners were still eating, and the first main courses arrived shortly after I’d finished chewing the last mouthful of starter, no chance of a breather between courses. The remaining main courses arrived over the course of the next ten minutes. We opted not to stay for desserts. In summary, the food was palatable but overpriced, atmosphere was lacking (Sky News on the TV and Capitol Chilled on the sound system), service was poorly executed and beware the 12.5% service charge that is applied to parties of 7 people or more, which, had we known about in advance (it wasn’t on the menus we were sent), might have avoided the awkward, fumbled responses from the management about it after our bill was presented. We would not return, and subsequently found better places to dine a short drive away. **EDIT** - in reply to the 'owner repsonse', we were asked for a non-refundable deposit, and we never paid it despite our best efforts to contact the establishment and pay it. We left a message, we called again and were promised a call back, it never came. I'll happily share the email sent to my wife asking for the deposit in case anyone is interested in whether or not my review is 'true'.

I don’t normally write reviews for places but after our visit this evening was so bad I felt I had to. At 6pm we rung the pub and was told to get there for 7pm. So we got there early expecting to have a drink first. We walked in to be greeted by the waitress and said we would like to sit outside. The waitress told us to find a table and she would bring menu’s out. Anyway after getting our own menu’s, I went in to order at 7pm. To be told that we couldn’t order for another 45 minutes as a big table had come in. Baring in mind we had already waited an hour to go down with a 3yr old to get dinner. I mentioned this and all I met with was rudeness. My partner who phoned went in to speak to them to be told the big table of 8 were 30 mins late. We ordered anyway as by the time we found somewhere else and ordered it would have taken that long if not longer. The food was in my opinion average at best. I ordered the mushroom and wild mushroom starter, there was no wild mushroom in sight. Just plain mushrooms in a watery sauce. My partner’s prawns were overcooked, rubbery and also in a watery tasteless sauce. For my little boy we ordered the “fresh chicken nuggets”. They were about as fresh as Mcdonalds. The mussels were also watery and curdled. My honest opinion is avoid. Rude staff below average food. Don't waste your time or money!!

If you’re looking for a great meal you can go wrong here. Good food and atmosphere are hard to find nowadays at the right price.

So unorganised, couldnt organise a piss up in thier own pub. Food was overpriced and substandard. Had prawns which was £9.50 as a starter 4 small prawns and 2 languistines and chef ommited the garlic from it, tasted of grease. French lady behind bar was rude and not interested in customers walked off half way through serving. Waited 1hr 20mins for food. Most of the food was out of stock so ordered chilli, (pictured) was a mess no presentation. Asked for salt given sachets that were damp and stuck together changed but all were like it. Probably the worst place ive been... had a bottle of wine £18 when reseached you can buy for £3.50 massive mark up and tasted like cooking wine. Really save your money, seems like they are just after a quick buck and on your bike attitude.

Went here for a family meal, was told there was a 45min wait for food which was fine. Had our 7yr old granddaughter with us 1hr 30mins ( my granddaughter had fallen asleep by now ) later they came over to say they hadn't got the fish pies we ordered could we have fish stew instead , which we said yes to, then had to wait a further 30mins, didnt stay for desserts as it was now gone 9pm ( we arrived at 6.15pm)

we were advised to eat here as the food was meant to be great we walked into a dirty, filthy place Hubby asked for an ale - barmaid pured a inch or two then took a half pint glass that had beer in it poured that into his pint and then filled his pint up from the pull again (hubby didnt tell me this until we had sat down) i asked for a glass to pour my drink into..... sat down at a dirty table pured inch of my drink into a filthy glass......took it back to the bar....bar man thought i had drank a pink and then was complaining about the glass.....gave me another glass....back to the bar as again it was filthy.....third time lucky with a clean glass......no apology or offering me a fresh can to replace half the can i had wasted in dirty glasses.......then hubby told me about what bar maid did to his pint. had already decided to leave drinks and the place by then. bar satff very very rude and not a clue. i'm a publicans daughter and have lived in pubs all my life......this is the worse pub i have ever been in

The Dophin is a great old pub with an external area to the rear for extra fine weather seating. It offers a section of drinks to enjoy with views of the sea. Disappointed to have to order in advance for a table of 8 as this was deemed a party. As a consequence we were charged 12.5% service charge for extra staff! Tips are discretionary for service, although on this occasion my service could have been better. With dropped cutlery on trousers, asking three times for water and no table service for drinks, 12.5% a little rich. Food was good and came out quick, which you would expect with a booking, so a thumbs up to the cook. Although food good and setting nice, I will not be rushing back.

The place looks a bit run down & in need of a spruce up & so does the menu but don't be fooled people! The food was amazing ! The best chicken wings I have ever eaten! Lots of them & lots of spice, sprinkled with fresh chili's with little pots of mayo & chili sauce. Served with a big bowl of chunky chips.

Had a drink (or two) in the Dolphin Inn, very friendly typical harbour pub, food looked delicious and atmosphere was great.

We visited as a large party of 12. We had pre booked and had pre ordered food. When we got there we were immediately made to feel very welcome. The food came exactly as ordered. The food itself was delicious and all generous portions. I would highly recommend the mussels and also the half tandoori chicken. Nothing was too much effort and the staff really did make our experience fantastic. Well worth a visit.

Popped in with my wife for a celebratory cocktail for our wedding anniversary , the bar staff were very fun and friendly and the cocktails were a good price , we sat outside in a lovely part covered beer garden , could have easily stayed for a few more and look forward to returning again .

I had a really nice meal here yesterday. You get a generous portion for the sea food stew and mussels. The seafood definitely tastes fresh as well. Drinks are also reasonably priced. It is first come first serve and no reservations, but the waitress/manager was happy to keep an eye out for the next empty table while we had a drink.

Most of the table's were booked or reserved so your probably best booking a table as for the food there wasn't much to choose from and I think it was a bit over priced.

Came here for a vegetarian roast and it was the best nutroast I have EVER had. The chef clearly cares that all dietary needs! 10/10!

Hmmmmm not getting the sea front fun times vibes on the tastebuds I was looking for. Seafood stew was fairly average and it came with warm crusty bread which was a room temperature baguette from supermarket. To be fair, 2 of the 4 of us liked the stew. But then I questioned whether it was frozen seafood. We don’t know if it was but was a bit buzz killington ya know Staff came to table to ask if we had empties. We didn’t. Staff member walked back into the pub past two unmanned tables which had at least 12 empties between them… maybe it’s some sort of mind games… if so it worked. Utensil madness was rife. Seafood stew was a liquid but served with a fork whaaa. I might be a London w**ker (and probably am because I ordered a Guinness zero) but the 440ml can came with a half pint glass. And then the same thing happened to my mate. Was it power play from the bar staff… we’ll never know. If you try and book a table here within 48 hours of your planned visit, the staff will tell you it’s not possible and find it slightly amusing that you thought it was possible.

Came because of the real ale however, stopped for lunch, which was excellent. Nice to see an establishment offering fresh food as opposed to the general chips with everything. Lovely pub inside and benefits a beer garden and dog friendly. Will be back.

We had a lovely lady serving us who kept apologising for the long wait for our food. The menu here is very limited in that it's nothing special and we thought over priced for pub. The pub was run down and sad looking. Not a place we would go back to, to eat or drink

We had a beer in here sheltering from the rain on Friday evening as a couple, and then returned on Saturday with my parents for a meal. We only just managed to get in there in time for a meal as we’d been watching the local talent show (!) but the kitchen were kind enough to take a quick order over the phone so we could dash in and eat. 3 of us has scampi and one had the fish and chips, it was all delicious; the scampi was melt in the mouth! Our dog was also very welcome and it was very cosy for him curled up on a cushion by the fire! Thank you for squeezing us in team, we’ll definitely return!

More a very noisy bar than a Bistro. Friendly staff. Fish reasonably fresh. The locals pool table needs separating from the eating area...along with the noisy piped music.

A bar but not a Bistro. Granted it was a Friday night but noise levels from piped music & locals playing pool was not compatible to eating area...they should be separated off. Quite a few people left. Friendly staff & the fish tasted quite fresh.

Terrible service, booked a table 3 days previous to get there and be told they had pretty much ran out of food and only scraps of a carvery left which they expected us to pay full price for! Staff very disorganised and seemed almost confused,...

The Dolphin Inn hosted over 100 of us on the night before my sons wedding. We had an Italian buffet which was top notch and super value. Owners and Staff were super friendly and made it a great evening for everyone and helped organise taxis...

We had 100 guests at a wedding and wanted to go somewhere else the night before. They really pulled the stops out - lovely home cooked fresh food ,loads of lovely vegetables- and a great venue for a lot of people- staff were so friendly...

Best carvery I've had. The beef was a little stringy but every thing else was cooked to perfection. The staff were all extremely polite and helpful.

1. The beer was murky and left a strange after taste, I tried two different ales and they were both the same 2. The food, we had four tapas meals, were tasteless, tepid and needed a good bit of seasoning. You got the feeling they...

Our dog is hardly allowed anywhere where we live in Birmingham but Combe Marin and surrounding area was completely different. We opened the door to the Dolphin expected to be turned away immediately We were met by very friendly hosts and shown to the dining...

I was in the area on an a nostalgia trip. Fancied a Sunday dinner and was able to get a table here as a walk in. Although the upstairs area was full, I had a table in the bar area. The price was reasonable and the food excellent. A loaded plate with three meats and a good selection of veg and proper gravy. On top of all this a great friendly welcome and good service

Went for dinner here on the last day of our trip and I'm gutted we didn't go sooner, staff were so friendly, the atmosphere was warm & friendly, loved the cozy decor and the best bit was easily the food and our table included an incredibly fusy eater and a two year old - who couldn't eat all his dinner because he was too busy trying (and loving) everyone else's 😅

Came here on Sunday September 18th 2022 for the carvery. There were three meat choices , the veg selection was vast, from broccoli, carrots, green beans, peas etc There also was dauphinoise potatoes, creamy cheese mash and cauliflower cheese. The selection of this carvery was excellent! It was very tasty and delicious! No word of a lie, this carvery is the best iv ever had! The staff were lovely, friendly and helpful! Would highly recommend this place!

Absolutely love this place situated overlooking the bay in Combe Martin. Deceiving from the outside as it's quite a large establishment. Sells good quality ale + some craft & the usual suspects in keg & bottles. It also has a large selection of various spirits & a lovely friendly couple who run it & a team outback in the kitchen. Very nice garden area with plenty of seating & parasols. Also a balcony area where we sat overlooking the garden next to the kitchen where the staff were working feverishly to get out some fantastic looking food. We never heard the ping of a microwave once meaning everything is cooked freshly. Highly recommend this establishment.
