Amazing food great value for money and the girl behind the bar was really friendly and a credit to the pub! The steak and ale pie was to die for! Will definitely be back again soon

Great location overlooking beautiful countryside, plenty of parking and tidy seating areas outside with a play area for children. Both had Ribeye steaks with sauces, and weren’t disappointed. The steaks were cooked perfectly, and whole meal was delicious. Service from all the staff is always brilliant!

Booked a table online, no problems. Good menu, plenty of choice and good value for money. Portion sizes were big, we didn’t need a pudding. Def recommend and visit again, if in the area ! Great pub

As Usuall good honest Pub Grub with a good menu to choose from offering Small ( Though still generous) portions as an option. Good prices with large servings and friendly service.

Live locally to this establishment drive past regular and can be late on a evening on my way home from work, there seems to be a regular guy who finds the post box at the front as a urinating post! I have reported this to the establishment itself and was welcomed by a most vulgar lady on the phone who wouldn’t take my complaint as I wouldn’t give her my name, this has no importance to my complaint what so ever. I shall not be taking my family here again and have visited a number of times as my children like the outdoor garden.

Food is excellent, staff very good, lovely room and fantastic value. Definitely will be going again. Nice fire and comfy settees for coffee.

The pheasant in cider was magnificent washed down with well kept bitter, a lot fire gave a warmth to the very friendly atmosphere. A great country pub.

As usual a lovely roast lunch with lovely fresh veg. Only problem was roast potatoes were burnt hard on the bottom of potatoes but rest was fantastic. Followed by a lovely mixed fruit crumble to finish. Lovely pub, great staff.

The food is very good, for evening food and I have always sang their praises. However I do not rate Sunday lunch as much.. and I did order a child's meal which consisted of 4 nuggets and about 12 chips .. even my 6 year old grandchild commented is that it.. maybe they have changed staff or chef..

Whatever you select from the menu you can’t go far wrong - from lite bites to full menu - just don’t forget to leave room for a dessert or take one home with you. Sunday lunches are incredible. Whenever you go nothing is too much trouble thanks to Gaz and his team.

Good food and service however presentation needs attention. We visited for the first time this weekend after several recommendations. Expectations were high however good meal spoiled by presentation and overs sauced! (See photo). Menu was limited, not much choice,calamari stater very greasy. Server delivered all drinks to one side of our table to help ourselves! Food generally was very good and well cooked. We will return and try the traditional Sunday lunch which may be more to the restaurants strengths

Went to this fabulous pub/ restaurant today and was just taken aback by the food. Nice ambience , nice staff and the best Sunday lunch you will ever have. Tasted just like my Moms used to. Perfectly cooked and served. 2 courses for £15...can't go wrong and can't wait to return!

We came to visit a friend that lives locally. Lovely warm welcome for myself, my two children and my friend. The food was faultless and very reasonably priced. We managed to squeeze in dessert which again was spot on. The member of staff was so welcoming and friendly. We will definitely be returning!

After a 5 mile walk with our walking group my husband and I decided to try the dog for lunch as we were parked close by.First impression clean and welcoming, tables set out well.We had a friendly and warm welcome from the staff as we ordered our drinks and was showed to our table. There were several groups chatting and eating giving the place a nice atmosphere, this was around 2pm. We both ordered a beef lunch it was well presented hot and very tasty !I would highly recommend and will return at a latter date when we are in the area.

We are local but hadn’t eaten here in years but decided to book for a birthday meal for my Mum. The staff were welcoming and we were a fairly large group of 10 - all different ages. They were very accommodating and despite everyone ordering different things the food was perfect and enjoyed by all. I would definitely recommend this place and we will be going back. Thank you

Me and my partner always feel welcomed here and very comfortable, emi the waitress is always polite and helpful, the food is very nice and to a good standard, overall a nice and quiet place to eat would recommend eating here.

My family had a wonderful Sunday lunch, lovely service it being both polite and very friendly. Myself and my father in law had couple pints of Theakstons dark which was a perfect pint. The food was first rate over all 3 courses and a good price at £15 per head with less expensive 1 and 2 course options.

After popping in for an impromptu meal one Wednesday afternoon while waiting for our car to be repaired at the nearby garage we received outstanding customer service and a fansticly priced meal from the "smaller sized" menu where you can have three smaller courses for a great price, perfect for myself and my wife as we both have small appetites! Food looked and tastes great and the staff were very attentive however after such great service we decided to return the following day as we were staying locally visiting relatives. This is where it all went down hill, the lady serving us on this occasion was rather unprofessional in comparison to the lady in charge the day before!

The lady who served me and family was rather rude and when serving us she smelt of fags which was a massive offput and the food overall wasn’t all that great either!

I'm afraid I can't really comment on the food itself as we walked out after waiting over an hour for our food order. We had booked a table for 7:45 but it was nearly 20 minutes later our food order was actually taken, and then we had to ask as a table that had entered after us had their order taken before ours.

This was a great find for us on the doorstep! Hadn’t visited for years but well worth the visit! Excellent home cooked pub food to a high standard and very reasonable prices! The staff were attentive and we will definitely return! Many Thanks to all at The Dog!

Came here on the 30/03/19 for dinner as drive past here often. Hadn’t been here for years, and didn’t realise it was under new management since November 18!

Visited this for a second time and it was just as enjoyable as the first. All the staff were warm and welcoming and we were put at ease from the start. Our mixed grill was cooked to perfection and plentiful. Tea served in charming china teapot with matching cup which was a lovely touch indeed. Will definitely be visiting again.

Visited with friends and had a fabulous night, Emi our hostess was simply wonderful, lot's of chat and jokes, and the food and service was first class. There's a good choice of food, and there is the specials board for even more choice, the sharing Camembert starter was just perfect. There's also a good choice of desserts, but we were so full, we will have to try them next time.

Three of us go our to lunch every few weeks, this time it was to The Dog. We were served by the delightful Eliie and the food was excellent. We try to change the place each time but if we needed to return we would.

After reading reasonably good reports we came for Sunday lunch, and were disapointed with the food and service.

We booked to visit here last night on a Groupon voucher. I am always sceptical with a Groupon when visiting an establishment.

Ate here last night with friends, lovely atmosphere, our waitress Emi was fabulous, she was so bubbly she must be a great bonus to the team. Food was fantastic, would def return.

My husband and i enjoyed a groupon for two mixed grills and wine. The service was good and the meal was tasty, good quality mixed grill, could have done with being warmer, albeit chips (yummy chunky ones) and sausage were hot. Unfortunately the negative was the lack of parking, the pub is situated next to a garage, we were a little uncertain if they shared the parking wtih the pub, we went at 12.30pm and the car park was full its a shame but as my husband is disabled this would discourage a second visit

Good meal, friendly staff but atmosphere a bit lacking - possibly due to the fact that we ate early and there were not too many people there - weather was a bit grim too!!

The restaurant was warm and the welcome even warmer, immediately felt at home and comfortable, having been shown to our table we settled down and had a great night. The starters arrived, all were very good except the pate,very dry and tasteless, not nice at all, but the mains were very good, Hunters chicken, Sea bass, Dunley pie, and Mediterranean taglitelli, all were nice and tasty.

Booked a groupon deal which included two courses and a glass of wine, on a Saturday lunch time. There was a good choice of food off the main menu and specials board. It was hot and tasty with very good size portions and presentation. The staff were attentive and very helpful when I couldn’t access my voucher. Thank you, we will return.

Took some friends here last weekend after i've visited previously and been very happy with the food and service, something major has changed.

Went with a small group of people last weekend after the place had been recommended to me. We walked in and couldn't see anyone, wasnt sure if we are just supposed to sit down. We sat down and still nobody came. We had to go find a member of staff just to have drinks. Even then, the beer was flat. We were cold by the time our meal finally arrived, we were sat in coats. Food was also cold so didn't warm us up much! I did mention this to a staff member and they shrugged. Not helpful at all, very disappointing. Bill was ridiculous for the price and quality. Will not go here again.

A great shame because it was warm and cosy inside and the staff were very friendly but that's where it ended. Half the things on the menu were unavailable and so there was a very limited choice. My friend had parsnip soup which was ok I had breaded brie which had obviously come out of the freezer because it was cold in the middle and the portions were huge. We ended up having beef burger which would never usually be my choice and it was awful very dry and tasteless most of the things on my plate including the chips were out of the freezer there were loads of salad an egg and a dollop of unmelted cheese. Far too much on the plate so quantity rather than quality. Would not recommend or return

Wasn't sure what to expect, but have to say was pleasantly surprised. Cosy lounge, great service and the food was tasty and piping hot. The camembert sharing platter was fantastic, and sea bass delicious. The young lady who served us was friendly and very helpful. Will definitely go back soon.

The Dog at dunley was cosy and welcoming, the staff were very friendly and went out of thier way to help. The food was excellent and good value for money. We shall be returning in the near future.

The dining area was cold & people had their coats on. My friends had steak. The steaks were fatty & gristly. My pasta was ok. There was not enough staff to serve diners & man the bar area. The electricity went off at the end of the meal & no one knew how to set the generator away. The evening was like a scene from faulty towers. Its a shame because the pub is in a good location.

4 of us ate, all adults. Was a Sunday and there is a menu 3 courses for £15 - a selection of 6 choices for starter and main doesn’t seem a lot however all excellent options. I had the pate, wife had whitebait, mom and her husband had soup, all very generous portions and very tasteful. My mom is a cook and whenever she tries new places she always tries to find something to grumble about the only gripe She had was the plates were cold BUT don’t let that detract from the EXCELLENT food served, we each had roast dinner, 2 beef and 2 pork. 4 of us there wasn’t a scrap left between us, the portions weren’t huge, they were just right, after all, the starters set you up and any more on the plate would have been wasted ! However the ladies still had room for dessert (men had extra beer) they had pineapple cheesecake from a good selection of pub classics - all in all, the restaurant room was beautifully quaint with a log burner one corner warming the room through . Anyway, a country pub inevitably beautiful on a summers day for the garden however it’s equally nice inside the restaurant and based on the food and surroundings I would say it was a bargain

Smashing staff, well kept cellar good food. However what a difference it would make if they invested in some new swings for the kids in their garden and persuaded the owner of the garage next door to free up some parking space. We`ve been a couple of times and had to come away `cause there was nowhere to park, even though the pub was almost empty.

We ended up here on an off chance for lunch and was very surprise. At first we thought it was packed out as the car park was full, but when we stepped inside it was just us and another table. Nice traditional pub with great homemade grub it was very good value too, my 8oz Rump steak was only £8 which was great btw. Recommend this to anyone :)

We chose this place to eat and it didnt disappoint. The menu wasnt extensive but has enough of a variety for us all including a 2 year old.

We visited this pub after seeing it from the road, We were not disappointed, The food was great and the service was friendly and attentive, The meals were really good value and well presented.

We struggled to find a parking space on a warm Thursday evening and thought that this was a good omen for a busy pub and restaurant. Unfortunately the kitchen doors opened onto the car park and we could see two women inside smoking. This almost put us off and we really wish it had. Inside was totally empty - of customers AND staff. We called then shouted for assistance but no one came, again we should have left. Possibly with a stash of alcohol and the till!!! After around 6-7minutes (which is a long while for thieves) a young girl came from the kitchen area and was surprised to see us. She sorted our drinks then took our food order which arrived some 20 minutes later. The food was just about ok, nothing special, but quite a large plateful each. As we waited for our food, three men arrived and ordered food. When we left, they still hadn’t received anything. Last time we came here it was run by someone different and the food was much better. The place has obviously gone downhill fast now and we will not return.

After viewing the menu on line, we were looking forward to a good meal at the Dog. Strangely on arrival, although the car park was full the dining room was empty. I ordered a pint of John Smith's and a small glass of house dry white wine. I was charged for these two drinks £10.50. When I queried the charge I was informed that I had been charged for a medium glass of wine instead of a small one, and I was given a refund of £1.60. It was only later when I did the maths that I realised that I had been charged £8.90 for the two drinks. I estimate an overcharge of £2.50. One of our fellow diners was overcharged for a bottle of wine and was given a refund. On to the food, two meals of Chicken Creme were immediately sent back as the food on the plates was only just warm and the plates were cold. Portion sizes for the price of the meal was poor. Strangely, they came back to the table before my meal arrived. My gammon was only just warm, but I wasn't prepared to send it back to the kitchen to be microwaved. The young lady behind the bar doubled up as a table server. How she or the kitchen would cope if the restaurant was busy I don't know.
