We arrived at 1pm to a lovely welcome from two young waitresses. Who attended to our needs through our 3 hour stay. Millie was excellent and attentive as we are regulars but she was new us as was the menu. Which she explained to us with a very experienced manner. We were wined and dined and looked after very well and we had a wonderful catch up with friends. Thank you!

Been to The Dog twice now for family meals as the prices are really good and the food is good- nothing special but for the family there is something for everyone. The service is brilliant especially today - Thankyou Jessica and the young man you were training today on his trial shift. Good to see! We will be back.

We visited for breakfast 2 or 3 weeks ago now and will definitely be returning. Service by all the staff was amazing and everyone looked happy which is great to see. The food was good and came out hot. Our server was Tonii who was lovely and very efficient. This Harvester is definitely one of our new favourites.

Nice family friendly atmosphere. All staff were very welcoming and very attentive. Sat in the pub side and ordered at the bar. Was served quickly and went through lots of options to cater to our needs. Food was served hot and plentiful and even better kids menu comes with free ice cream. He was offered a fun pack to keep him amused while we waited for our food to arrive. Would definitely recommend and go back again when we can

My wife, 16 year old son and I popped in here for a drink on a Saturday evening. It was not very busy but still took about 10 minutes to get served at the bar. The first drinks were ok but when I got the next round I noticed it was considerably more than the previous one for a very similar round. It took five minutes to get acknowledged by the bar staff, including the girl who had just served me. Thankfully, I had paid by card and kept my receipt, although it didn't show the actual drinks ordered. The manager offered to take it upstairs to the office to check it out by said there was no need as all I needed to know was the price of the drinks I had been charged for.Eventually it transpired that I had been charged £2.90 for a small glass of lemonade for my son, almost as much as I had been charged for a pint of beer. I told the manager that I considered that to be a rip off but she explained that the glass could be refilled free of charge. This wasn't made clear to my wife who had bought the first round. The manager apologised but said I had been charged correctly. I was still fuming and gave her every opportunity to rectify the situation but she stuck rigidly to the rule book. When I told here that it was her choice but to expect to see the review on social media, she said that was unfair as I had been correctly charged.I object to this practice as it would appear to be ripping off families but worse still, it is encouraging children to drink vast quantities of sweet sugary drinks with long term health implications.Looking at the reviews on here, it appears that I am not the only one who thinks this place is awful. I cannot recall having visited an establishment that has more "Terrible" reviews than any other category.

I have visited the restaurant before and had a fairly standard experience. On this occasion myself and 3 others went for the breakfast and was just purely disappointed, they seemed to be running out of everything and giving no apologies. Myself and my 3 friends had the displeasure of being served by “Deb”. It took the staff about 15minutes to even notice we had seated ourselves as no one had acknowledged 4 customers standing in plain sight. Members staff repeatedly walked past us without even saying hello. Once we had placed our order with “Deb” we proceeded to have our breakfast, well what was still available anyway.Upon receiving the bill I made a querie about the price of the drinks and was very rudely told by “Deb” to just read the menu as she held it very close to my face whilst pointing at the drinks section. Overall the food wasn’t the problem but the service provided by this employee I have mentioned let the whole experience down. Sadly neither myself or any members of my party that accompanied me will ever be returning, much to the pleasure of “Deb” I’m sure...

Visited here on the way back from a day in Stratford. The restaurant was very quiet when we visited at around 7 o clock which was a bit of a surprise. The salad bar was okay, however it wasn't fully stocked up on sauces with the majority of them being empty and there being very few members of staff to speak to about it. However the food we did have from the salad bar was good. Our food arrived we both had the original combo and it was cooked well and the meat was hot. However the chips were a bit cold and not a very big portion compared to what we have had at other harvesters closer to home. Overall the meal was okay but it wasn't anything to shout about.

As a chef myself I expect good quality food cooked to a good standard. The food I ordered was a fillet steak cooked medium rare and it didn't come out at all what I asked for and upon which tasted disgusting, charcole taste all over the steak. As for my partner's mixed grill, again asked for medium rare and again came out pretty much well done. He was unable to cut through the steak, therefore unable to eat it. Also the menu seems very limited for people who don't eat spicy food. The only good thing I can see here is the drinks. Very disappointing.

Terrible food. We ordered off the menu, chicken n ribs combo. It said 1/4 chicken with ribs. Told the chicken would be a breast as they have run out of 1/4 chicken. We accepted that. We waited ages for food and when it came Well it was the smallest chicken breast I’ve ever seen. The rice was hard and inedible. Wouldn’t go there again. Staff not fussed about outside clearing away. We asked for tables to be cleared because we wanted to sit outside. We were told quite abruptly that it was just about to be done. We waited for about 15mins and then staff cleared some glasses and plates away, there were still tables uncleared.

Main courses are poor for the price, steak was nice but only had about 6 chips and it all looked very sad on the plate, the forgot my extra sides when asked they still never appeared! Price is too expensive for what you get, salad bar is nice though! You need it to be full by the end of the night!

Time after time we go back and try again just to see if it’s back to its best, sadly this was another let down situation. From the moment we got there and asked for a table, left standing like lemons as the discussion across the restaurant between the staff member greeting us and the girl in blue sitting down who seemed to be conducting her organisational meeting as to where “this 5” were sitting “stick this 5 on table so and so as that 5 on table isn’t cleaned or ready so stick the next 5 on that one” was shrieked over gave you a warning signal we should not have ignored! Just bloody rude and poor customer service.Although quiet it took ages for us to have the orders taken, despite no cutlery on the table the kids had resorted to going up the salad bar regardless. We all had refills for drinks, 2 of the glasses looked borrowed from someone’s Granny’s! We still had to ask for cutlery despite the earlier statement given.Salad bar was good, no complaints and when food did come it was ok, obviously having focus on presentation, but when you price it up it isn’t cheap as the prices seem to creep up every time you go, yet the menu seems to dwindle on choice compared to a few years back. Once finished we asked for our bill which was given to us, but then after waiting some 20 - 30 minutes to pay I got up with the kids and left, leaving the missus who was far too honest to walk off to find someone to pay due to lack of organisation and follow up. It comes to something when your 9 year old says “for god sake I told you every time we come here something always is wrong!” As she sat in the car waiting for moms return!! Keep saying it such a same, don’t bother with the feedback comment spend the time organising some much needed training for the team there as it will go much much further on improving the situation there. Although we live locally I reckon it will be a long time before we chance it again, such a shame.

Visited the The Dog/ Harvester on a Sunday lunch time as a family of 12 for a birthday bash it wasn't overly busy when we arrived but I guess the awful weather didn't help. I checked the reviews and pictures on trip advisor and was a little sceptical. On arriving I was quite taken back the building was situated just right and the outside looked inviting and modern and the inside was the same lovely modern decor. The staff were welcoming and nice we handed a cake that we had bought to a waitress who said they would bring it out to us when required. There were plenty of menu choices but nothing like a Sunday roast so don't expect one but that didn't matter to us. The salad bar was great but don't over do it as you need to leave room for your main meal and the sizes of some of them are huge.We all ordered our meal and they all looked nice not one of us had any issues the meals were great, 4 of us had the ultimate mixed grills they were massive luckily they provide boxes for you to take food home in. After the meal we asked a waitress for the cake and they happily brought it out with side plates and a knife. It was a great visit and would happily go again. Great place, food and staff.

We visited the Dog at about 11 am on the 22nd of July 2018 for a brunch. After waiting 5 minutes to be seated we were left a further 10 minutes to look at the menu. We mostly ordered the all in deal, but there were No Pastries, No juice, No bread for toast, No side plates, No cups and No Tumblers. The cutlery was dirty I think the dish washer there may need a service if it's a machine or a P45 if it's a person! By the time the juice and cups did arrive it was consumed in seconds by the crowd of waiting customers, and then again not replenished. The little that remained was then taken away to make space for the lunch menu. The food that we had was good and so was the attention shown by the waitress. The disappointment rests with the self service food and drink (or lack of them) and the dirty cutlery. My niece had recently received a score of 8 in her first year secondary school mathematics I left her ponder on this when thinking of dining at the harvester chain: ΔSuniv=ΔSsys+ΔSsurr≥0 - Which just about sums up the experience.

As you walk in, you feel that it should be a decent meal. The salad bar is actually ok BUT the main menu is fairly limited, the chips are just very thick frozen oven type efforts and the meat or fish is not tasty at all. On top of that the waitresses have no idea about how to earn a tip. I tried it after about 4 years but it’s still at the very bottom of the heap for me. Avoid!!!

Popped in for food whilst out with the family. I do not mind cheap & cheerful food but this was neither. Bar staff helpful & very capable. The salad bar was a little lack lustre but it’s Monday so probably not expecting too many people. Starters were fine, thankfully so as the mains were mostly inedible. I fed most of mine to the dog. Still at this point I wouldn’t have cared so much at the wasted money on mains that were not good but on turning over our grossly over cooked steaks we all found cut marks where the chef had checked them. Checked them, seen they we not right & still insulted us by sending them out. ♀️ NOT ok!

The best tip I can give about this place is the cheaper menu that runs from early afternoon to early evening - that time of day when it's neither lunch nor dinner time. If you want good quality pub grub in that time slot you can't go wrong with the Dog. TBH the value would be good at any tie of day. Warm, family friendly, clean nice place.

where do I start? Carvery - sloppy, chewy, just about warm, overcooked veg, prison food. Or hospital food. In fact hospitals are better. Cheap common waiting staff (well, ours was) leggings, piercings, dirty hands, horrible fingernails, theek broomie ack-sent and a bovine lack of attention to everything but her phone) and poor service, no check backs, no anticipation of removing one course before presenting the next until loudly called for because she ambled past several times ignoring our "excuse me's".... we eventually got up from our table after asking for the bill and waiting twenty minutes, walked through to the bar, got ignored there too, so we went into the garden, into the car park and drove off. The only good thing about our visit was that we left, it wasn't worth paying for. Shoddy service, awful staff and poor food, nuff said. And I bet they don't read their reviews either - and if they try to offer me a return visit to make good, I will tell them that it's not even worth offering as a charity prize - I'd prefer to go to the Alex Hospital and buy something from a vending machine.

As a family of 4 we decided we would try out the Boot as we live locally and hadn't been before. We pre booked our table using the automated booking phone system. We Arrived Promtly at booking time, we entered through the main entrance and were surprised to see that there was No one around to greet us or show us our table; other than two incredibly busy bar staff with around 20 people around the bar waiting to be served. At least 10 minutes after arrival (of being stood at the entrance) someone finally came to greet us and showed us to our table. Our drinks order was promptly taken and menus were given to us. They bought the drinks to us within a couple of minutes. I was curious as to weather I would've able to swap the8oz Rump steak for an 8oz fillet and pay the difference in price of the two steaks. The member of staff knew that the kitchen would be happy to do this and happily took our order. When the food came out it all looked nice - besides my fillet (Medium-Rare), it looked like it had been butterflied or cut into very deeply to remove fat etc or had two pieces of meat attached with connective tissue (1/3 of the depth of the steak) it had also been opened out and Chargrilled as heavily as the rest of the steak, this caused one very small area of the steak to be medium-Rare and the entire rest to be Well-Done. The steak itself didn't look very appealing. The battered prawn skewer was also fairly tasteless and had only 3 small prawns. The chicken was nice although thin slices and had a very hot aftertaste, I struggled to eat it.After waiting a long time (everyone had basically finished) for someone to come and check on us or walk past, I was finally able to voice my complaint with the steak. I was instantly told it would be taken off the bill - very surprising considering the kitchen didn't even look at my steak nor was I offered any replacement - probably as we had finished or that they knew there might be a problem - I left around half the steak and it had completely ruined my appetite, picking at the rest as I was so hungry. We received the bill and were told the fillet had been taken off, I was extremely unhappy to see that we had been overcharged for substuting rump for fillet (we had two) by £2.50 each, and that the rest of the surf and turf remained on the bill at £14-16. I didn't even want to go and complain as I wanted to leave. We paid and left and Is very unlikely I will ever return.Overall could be nice restaurant however:-Poor Customer Service-Serious improvement in standard of cooking - M/R and W/D are impossible to confuse-Complaints handling procedure was very poor and partly the reason why I am writing this review. The food is all reasonably priced - considering the portions could be larger and had it been cooked at a high standard.Chips were nice lol. Also salad bar would have been a great fresh feature if my appetite had not been ruined.

Chips were unevenly cooked some hard some burnt. 2 other adults had bbq chicken stack. Bacon was barely cooked. Chicken wasnt cooked all the way through and had to be swapped for strips and it had the same chips as the other main. Childrens meal came. 3 greasy chicken strips and just 6 of the same nasty chips. The salad bar as a previous review states has been scaled down where is the potato salad? The bread rolls were rock hard and minute. Ordered main courses I had a quarter chicken ( miniscule) and ribs.

have not been to harvester for a year or 2 so gave it a go what a disappointment. The salad bar has shrunk with fewer choices along with the pygmy bread rolls which just look mean . Mains sound really mouth watering another disappointment my half roast sparrow was a real shock . Don't think i will bother again prices haven't shrunk with the portion size it all just looked like a child's or OAP size .

Having visited 'The Dog's on many occasions over many years, was looking forward to eating there following a recent refurbishment. So the premises were very good and welcoming and an improvement. The staff were very young and inexperienced, appeared to be new and probably under training but overrun over a lunchtime where they couldn't cope with the volume of people. The food was good but took over an hour to arrive, orders and drinks were mixed up and they had run out of peas!!! Very defensive when criticism made and I really hope that they learn from the shortcomings and review their practices. You either need to limit the number of tables available to serve and enable better service, increase the numbers of staff or get the training sorted to a higher level. It would work far better if a floor manager was visible to meet, greet and resolve issues, not enough direction! Could be so good but sadly let down!

Having visited the Dog twice a year for several years to meet up with old friends, we were looking forward to a new and improved experience. The interior was lovely and our waitress was delightful. We waited ages for our drinks, had to ask twice , the salad bar was abysmal and empty, we had to ask for it to be refilled so that we could get some, not that we had any cutlery to eat salad, had to ask for that too, the food was mediocre, and as for dessert, well 2 desserts not available and no chance of getting a cappuccino to make up for the lack of dessert.

Ate here on a Saturday evening and overall it was pretty average. The service was extremely slow - our drinks took an age to arrive, as did the waitress to come take our order. A few dishes weren't available and it was still early in the evening and not full yet. Starter was very slow in coming, but then the mains came in an instant after our plates were eventually cleared. Food was ok, no complaints but nothing memorable about it - but it was hugely expensive for what it was. Stayed after the meal for a drink at the bar and there was only 1 member of staff serving what was now a packed restaurant so again it took an age to get served. The staff were friendly and welcoming, despite there being a woeful lack of them working that night. Overall it was just and expensively average experience

Food is always nice here, staff are pleasant and there's a nice feel about the place. Sometimes service can be slow and hit and miss. This is a shame when it happens as everything else is excellent. Hopefully they will leave the menus as they are as they have changed some other restaurants in the chain and I feel they have ruined the harvester.

This was our second visit to this pub we ordered drinks starters plus my grandsons meal on arrival of my grandsons meal the waitresse informed us the meal was hot with why did she think we wasn't capable to make this decision for our selfs??? Another waitress then came to take our order for our mains were we told that due to the chef not ordering enough products we wouldn't be able to have our choice of meals I was also told the new pasta dish was of the menu and it had been on the menu for a long time so why did it say new ??? We also asked to bear with them as thinks we're going off behind the scenes we also had the first waitress giving us one line comments not nice she was awful her face and attuide would have turned milk sour we asked to see the manager told us yes that would be ok but guess what that didn't happen then the waitress asked if we would pay for the drinks and starters we had we at no point said we wasn't going to pay from start to finish it was a shambles with no respect for their customers

The attention we received throughout our meal was friendly and attentive and always with a smile. We will be back again soon.

I find Harvester restaurants a bit hit and miss, I used to work in one whilst studying and find they have gone downhill and seem to be trying to become something they're not. Anyway we visited this Harvester on the way back home from a day out. The restaurant was dead. The food was really really good! Chips were hot and fresh and really tasty, spit roast chicken was juicy and salad bar was fresh. Waitress was friendly, can't fault it!

We went in and was placed to a table pretty quickly, server was a little grumpy considering it wasn't overly busy but let that slide. We were given menus and before I knew it we were being asked what we wanted by a different server, who was very polite, everything we wanted they had seemed to have run out of, nether the less we ordered and we could help ourselves to free salad. I went up and by the time I sat down our food was on the table. I ordered the chicken with BBQ sauce and cheese, it was very dry and still cold in the middle, so I left mine. My daughter had pasta and complained it was really cold, I tried it and it was. We ordered a blue steak and came out really well done. We complained but they just said sorry, didn't offer to get us fresh meals or even warm them up. With that we paid our bill and left.

As my title say, we had a lovely relaxing time whilst at a family lunch. We usually go to the Solihull Harvester but it was fully booked so we went to the Dog instead. I'm so glad we did, it was far less busy than what we're used to and the staff had time to be super friendly rather than it being a bit like a cattle market with them waiting to get you out so that they can get the next lot in. Don't be put off by the location or how it looks from the outside, a friendly warm welcome awaits and we will definitely go back

Visited the Dog with my sister and daughter who is 2.We were shown to our table and given menus, I had to ask for a child's menu much to the disgust of the waitress. We ordered drinks to be told they didn't have the specific drink I wanted for my daughter, there was a bit of a theme for the visit as I had heard different waitresses telling several guests they didn't have certain things off the menu, I ordered a smoothie which was obviously straight out of a carton and charged £2.20 I think it was.We ordered our food then headed up to the salad bar which was pretty unappetising. Our mains came, well my daughters came first and we had to wait a little while longer for our mains. I ordered the ribs and my sister the chicken burger. I sent the ribs back as they were stone cold and pretty inedible, my sisters burger was tiny for the price with a very rubbery piece of chorizo. My ribs returned and this time they were greasy and fatty and I just couldn't eat them so again I sent them back but told the waitress I couldn't eat them as they had made me feel sick! Fair enough she refunded the meal price but still had to pay £25 for my sisters meal and daughters meal, I did have a children eat free voucher but apparently the waitress had already tried several that day and they weren't valid as it was bank holiday.I left the Dog seriously disappointed and certainly won't return until they learn to cook and the waitresses aren't so grumpy and miserable!!

Came here as passing through area for a weekend event. Saw the sign for a Harvester breakfast and thought , I know that given the Harvester branding, it would be of a decent quality. I'll be totally honest here and say that this is probably one of the worst places I have eaten in. Please take a look at my honest reviews before slating me. I was actually not going to put on a review I was that disappointed. However, here goes.1. Advertised as opening at 9am. However, the didn't open the doors into 910;2. The breakfast, whilst a reasonable cost, the actual ingredients were of very low quality. Cheap bread, cheap orange juice and the black pudding was vile. The sausages appeared to be cooked in an oven and as a result , were over -cooked and hard;3. I was looking for a side plate for my toast and there was about 10 at the breakfast area. Absolutely each one was dirty or had water stains/marks on them; never seen anything like it in my life;4. The male toilets were an absolute disgrace. Considering the fact that it was literally just opened that morning , there was what appeared to be ground in and crusty body fluids along the hinges of the toilet door. Additionally , the entrance to the toilet door had the paint worn away ( I appreciate this is normal ) but looked filthy as a result. Again , I have been to a variety of eateries and NeVER have I seen a toilet as bad; 5. The main entrance to the bar/restaurant is obviously used by smokers. Again, at this time of the morning , there was loads of cigarette ends on the ground;Positives The only positive here is the waiting staff , both ladies were polite and cheerful. Why didn't I complain , well, at 930am I just was in disbelief and didn't have for energy. VerdictThis place should be ashamed to carry the Harvester branding. It should be closed for a deep clean and refurb. Sorry guys.

Nothing to rave about. Been here several times when visiting family due to convenience. Nothing special, quick cheap and easy. Designed for meat eaters and glutinous individuals. Love the unlimited salad bar, again nothing special. But use it to fill me up before then having some protein.I can see the appeal for families with young children.

Well we called here on our way home after a long day at Croome Park and wanted a birthday celebration dinner and they went to great efforts to get fourteen of us in on one long table. The friendliness of the staff was commendable particularly trying to get orders out of the seven children. My only complaint was the quality of my meal a ribeye steak cooked medium with baked potato. The potato came out black and was sent back immediately I should have sent the steak back with it as it was so well done it was like shoe leather but mine was the only failure all the others enjoyed their meals but I was paying hence the poor review. The poor cow didn't deserve to end like this.

We came here for a Wednesday night dinner with the kids. They had had a flood the night before so the salad bar was missing some bits (understandable) but of the 5 things it did have nothing had more than a handful of contents in. The serving staff greet you with what they haven't got. Macaroni cheese (for kids) chicken strips for adults. The food was ok, nothing special. I order a combo that came with BBQ gravy, which was just greasy water, by the time of eaten the food the fat had solidified on top. Ordering deserts and again they start with the things they don't have. The service is slow, the toilets are downright vile and the whole pub seems like it's run by amateurs. I have been to many harvesters and normally have a good experience but not here! Avoid like the plague.

I have eaten at this Harvester restaurant on many occasions, but hadn't visited for a while. I took my son and grandson here today for an early dinner. The place was nearly empty, but it was only 4.00pm. They were quick to take our food and drinks orders, but we did have a bit of a wait for the food. Unfortunately, this is when the visit became a disappointment. My meal, which was a goats cheese, onion and pepper tart, which was a subsitute for the cauliflower cheese tart which they hadn't got, was really disappointing. The baked potato was awful. The waitress did advise that it wasn't very good but she would change it if I wanted to. I decided I could do without the potato so refused a substitution. The tarts were also very disappointing. I could only eat the central part, the crust was really thick and overcooked. My son's burger was just ok, he wasn't particularly happy with it, but it was edible. The sweet potato fries were not the best we have ever tasted. My 2 year old grandson wouldn't eat any of his meal, but as we could not be sure that he wasn't just being picky, I won't comment on his food. It is a real shame. I have always enjoyed eating there in the past but will certainly hesitate to eat there again in the future. I would prefer to travel to another Harvester a few miles away.

Our greeting before we had even sat down, was, we have no steaks or sweet potatoe fries, someone forgot to order them. Well I though that does not bode well. We ordered a round of drinks a few minutes later we ordered the food. The food came in a reasonable time, it was well presented and hot. We were tucking into our meals when the drinks arrived with an apology sorry I thought I had brought the drinks they had been left on the bar. Overall it was a good experience but I think that was in part of having very good company.

You are lured in by the 4.99 breakfast. On arrival no one to greet you so you take a table and help yourself to a cuppa while you wait for the waitress. 20 mins later the waitress tells you if you want a tea of coffee with breakfast the price is 8.49. Now who wouldn't want a drink with their breakfast. Food was average very small portions of beans and scrambled egg so if you do go ask for large. Certainly wouldn't waste my money again

Long drive from Scotland & on arrival we found out no dinner is on offer. Were told we could order in a takeaway and they'd provide plates & cutlery - no thanks! Went to a village pub two miles away. Bedroom was tired & visibly dusty, as was the area for breakfast - how can you not notice the cobwebs in your windows with the sun streaming in??!! Breakfast was basic continental but only 1 apple in the fruit bowl? Almost laughable. No staff around at first, then 1 lady & her two dogs appeared in the breakfast room, saying she was only the housekeeper but did we need anything? We asked for more fruit....but there was none on offer. I have never stayed in anywhere more Fawlty Towers than this! Absolutely terrible.

Of course, the weather was wonderful, which helped the ambiance but we had a lovely time at The Blue Lias today, sitting outside to eat, watching boats going past on the canal. The food, fish and chips, was basic but good quality and well-cooked. The staff were pleasant and helpful. There were plenty of clean water bowls for our dogs, which I had to fill so the water was fresh.
