This lovely local tea room is very accommodating. Having checked the day before we wanted a GF breakfast they arranged a lovely one for me. I think you need to give them a days notice if you don’t want to be disappointed. Price for an FEB which included tea and coffee at only £7.75 was a full and very reasonable breakfast. Three Gluten Free cakes/tray baked we available as a walk in customer and although not adventurous they are a welcome sweet eat with your tea and coffee. I will highly recommend but give warning if you want GF savoury eats.

I have tried most of the local breakfast places in the area, and have had my favourite for sometime but when that went downhill I went on the hunt to find a new one. At last I seem to have found it, fabulous service, good quality fresh local produce, freshly & well cooked and presented and great value for money, what more can you ask for. Thank you so much, we will be back. Oh and they are dog friendly, so your fur baby can come too.

A friend and I went to Wedmore on a whim and looked around the village. We were recommended to try The Dining Room and so went there for lunch. The service was friendly and efficient and the food of good quality. I had the Leek and Potato soup followed by Mackerel cooked in Lemon with a salad. My friend had the Beef Lasagne. We enjoyed the food and ambience and now have a new place near Glastonbury at which to dine.

I went with a group of friends for an evening meal at The Dining Room. The food was of good quality and came out hot and steaming. I had the soup to start with and the fish pie as the main course. Both had lovely flavours but I was disappointed with the vegetables, as they looked sad and there was only a few of them stuck on the side of my plate. As we were the only group in there it did lack atmosphere but I have made the assumption it will be better in the daytime.

I thoroughly enjoyed my trip to the Dining Room this Saturday. It was buzzing with a friendly atmosphere, a warm welcome and I was served with delicious food. I had an English Cream Tea - home roasted ham sandwiches, a cream scone and a piece of Victoria sponge - the lightest sponge I've tasted in a long time. All beautifully presented in a vintage tea stand. My husband had his all time favourite, an English breakfast, and declared it to be 'up there with the best'. I could highly recommend The Dining Room if you are in Wedmore.

Popped in here on a very miserable wet day. Sadly it was as miserable inside as out ! The decor is very tired.we wernt offered menus, waitress not very interested in serving.I orderded a sparkling water which obviously had been poured from a larger bottle and dident have much sparkle. Also had cheese on toast, but with only a very thin layer of cheese on nasty sliced bread. My husband had a tea cake which was ok.we had to request both cutlery and sugar. Very overpriced,i noticed jacket potatoes started at £7.50 !Not a great experience for us !

This restaurant changed hands in the latter part of 2014 and I was concerned that as a regular I would be disappointed. On the contrary the menu has been improved, the food is beautifully cooked and presented and the portions are generous. The staff are extremely pleasant and the whole experience has been delightful. I visit on average every 3 weeks and eat out at least twice each week at a variety of restaurants all over the UK and Europe so I feel well qualified to recommend this establishment unreservedly. If you like tea afternoon the cakes and scones (all homemade) are exceptional and the tea is loose leaf.

I found this place whilst my partner and I were visiting the village, dress shopping and stumbled upon this gem of a restaurant. The food reminds me very much of the down to earth, honest home-cooked which I grew up on, all served in a traditional setting with friendly service. Due to a gluten allergy I ordered the gluten free fish pie and my partner ordered the lamb and apricot casserole. Both dishes were both tasty and in our opinion good value for money. Last Sunday I had possibly the best lunch I have ever tasted. My meal included a brilliantly cooked roast beef, homemade Yorkshire pudding, lashings of gravy and a great serving of freshly cooked vegetables. I followed this by a lemon meringue pie, a light option, which was truly favourable by me and other customers around me. The service was very quick, and there was a brilliant warm welcome from the staff. Overall, a lovely meal out and a brilliant experience. I would recommend it for all the family. Excellent.

Sadly went to The Dining Room last Saturday for a meal at what was supposed to be a celebration for St. Patrick's night. A great band playing but oh the food. they did not say when booking that it was a 3 course set meal that you had to have also when shown the menu when we arrived no price on the menu!! Nothing screaming out Irish on the menu and having lived in Ireland for 12 years I was expecting some traditional dishes. First course Prawn cocktail with the smallest prawns available, bit of lettuce and sauce with half a slice of bread and butter. Main course, my husbands Fish pie came out so burnt around the edge it had obviously been left in the oven for ages, that went back. I had Beef cooked in Guinness with cobbler, beef was good but the cobbler was overcooked and the top 10mm was solid and could not even be cut with a knife. Even the vegetables were a bit basic sliced carrots and broccoli. Sweet poached pear with whisky cream served with a teaspoon, the pear so hard you needed a knife and fork to cut it. So sorry would not recommend to any of my friends and will definitely not be returning.

Visited the above venue for lunch at the end of October. I had been here before but in the evening. Went with friends and because it had been busy on my previous visits in the evening we booked a table. On arriving we were welcomed at the door and shown to our tableby a very pleasant waitress. We were given menus and our drinks order was taken. The menu was limited (always a good sign, I think) and our drinks were brought quickly. We were given time to peruse the menu before we had to order. There was not a long wait for our food, which was beautifully presented and every dish tasted sublime. The puddings were lovely and altogether we all thoroughly enjoyed our meal. The price was very reasonable and we left feeling replete. There was no need to have booked as there were not many people there on a Wednesday lunchtime but in the summer I think it would be necessary as Wedmore is a very popular village with holidaymakers.

A party of 4 sat down to lunch in November. The dining room (their lower case not mine) is situated on the main street in Wedmore: a pretty but very congested village near Cheddar. We were lucky enough to park almost right outside the door as one of our party is disabled; I would advise parking in the free car parks behind the Mall or in the good, but often empty, village car park and walk the enormous distance of 300 metres into the village (most don’t which adds to the congestion). The dining room prides itself on ’good old fashioned food that’s freshly prepared’ and that was certainly our experience. All food is home cooked and delicious. It opens for lunch every day, evening meals Friday and Saturday evenings; and for special evening meals - currently on offer: a jazz night, candlelight supper with live piano, Christmas lunches. I suspect that most of its annual trade will come from afternoon teas in the tourist season. The restaurant is part of the exclusive clothes shop Compton House of Fashion, so browsing is easy. My hubbie and I ordered lasagne, unfortunately there was only one portion left so we shared that and a lamb and apricot casserole, served with a dumpling. The lasagne was just perfect – not too fatty as they sometimes can be; it was served with a good salad. The casserole was tasty although my husband lamented the lack of lamb in it, but the dumpling was first class – I’ve never had such a light and perfectly cooked one before. Our friends had the casserole, and coronation chicken – chocked full of tasty chicken. Puddings were a revelation. Hubbie and I went for baked jam sponge with custard – evoking memories of childhood. A quarter of a pudding arrived, obviously steamed in a proper pudding basin, beautifully cooked with a hint of lemon in the sponge and good jam: absolutely superb. Our friends had apple crumble and cheesecake – all declared to be good. All main courses were £9.25 and puddings were £6.25. This may be relatively expensive for lunch in Somerset, but Wedmore is a sought-after and popular place – for what we ate we thought it was fine. It certainly received our seal of approval and we will return. I also have a hankering to come for afternoon tea and try the delicious-looking home bakes on display!

After other positive reviews, my wife and I thought we would try lunch here midweek. The menu choices on the chalk board outside looked interesting enough (just) and we already knew we'd probably go for the two casserole choices. Once you enter and are offered a table you can see quite how elderly are the regular clientele. The decor is also more 1950-70s, a traditional dining room look, like visiting your grandmother or an old style seaside hotel. We ordered both a steak & ale casserole and a lamb and apricot one, both with dumplings (what proved to be one dumpling each), together with homemade presses (lemon and elderflower). To day that the meals were disappointing is an understatement. The food is very bland and no better than most families could produce at home. Very little flavour and just boring basically with very little variety of vegetables or anything else in the casseroles.I would suggest that those under 70 avoid this restaurant, though it may be a safe bet for those without their own teeth.

Very friendly prompt service with a great selection of traditional starters and main courses, Spam fritter starter (for the Jubilee only I guess) popular and excellent as were our other dishes. Excellent pork, lamb and fish dishes with all the extras and lovely hot fresh vegetables. Knickerbocker glory dessert was great and fresh strawberries with clotted cream too & coffee to finish with.
