Nous y sommes allés le midi pour déjeuner , un peu d attente , fish and chips très bon et différentes petites choses à grignoter très bonnes également . Nous avons donc décidé d y retourner le soir boire un verre afin de vivre l expérience dans un véritable pub anglais avec diffusion d un match de foot . Et là grosse déception après avoir laissé notre verre et notre paquet de cigarette sur la table toute proche de la porte d entrée , nous sommes sortis fumer pendant 5 min , on se retourne verre et paquet de cigarette avaient disparu . Personne n’étant rentré , seul un serveur avait pu débarrasser la table car autour il n’y avait que quelques personnes au bar qui consommait leur propre verre . Les serveurs ont complètement nié en nous ignorant , genre on s’en fout vous êtes des touristes … il est clair que nous n’y retournerons jamais !

Visited yesterday with family and can only thank the staff for their hospitality. Food was lovely and staff couldn’t do anymore for us. Will be returning very soon.

Ordered a fish and chips, after waiting 45 mins did not stick around for its arrival. Very disappointed. One person serving, 4pm on a Thursday afternoon.

Called in for a quick lunch with my wife. Ordered from the lunchtime options. I had a BLT with a glass of house white wine priced on the menu at £2:00 as an add on and chips at £3:00. Was overcharged at £5:80 for the wine and £3:50 for the chips. Then when the errors were pointed out the total bill was charged twice by yet another error by a staff member. My wife was told the errors would be corrected by refund to our credit card but no evidence of refund was available for over an hour when eventually paper copies of till statements were provided. However the credit card company could not verify any refunds had been made. In the end we waited over 2 hours for resolution but were unable to get full satisfaction . In fact my wife spent much of the time trying to sort out the staff errors with the credit card company so when she finally started her food it was cold and unappetising. This was not helped by one member of staff calling her a liar, completely unprovoked and untrue and saying we were wrong to make comment about the original overcharge. Apparently arguing over a £4:30 overcharge was too trivial to worry about in her opinion. I have great sympathy with any service staff being abused by members of the public but this was an example of the roles being clearly reversed as one staff member called Anna argued very rudely and aggressively. I also find it amazing that such an organisation can overcharge massively for its services and to then be told it can take 5-7 days for this to be corrected. Clearly a massive programme of staff training in customer service is required by Greene King and questions asked whether some of the existing staff can achieve the standards required.

Called in for a speedy lunch.. two hours later still trying to sort the overcharge plus being charged twice with nothing to show for it. Sooo rude staff. Accused of quibbling over a few pounds (we can’t afford to lose ‘a few pounds’ ) as well as being called a liar for not immediately producing a receipt showing the overcharge. Thanks Anna. I did have it and showed it to you. Have you heard of customer service? Food arrived. Cold. So returned. Positives.. the manager was apologetic and tried to resolve (thank you) but. Oh mi god. There were overseas visitors in there at lunchtime and I was ashamed to be English. The service was atrocious. Greene King. If you are listening…. That pub will not be a viable entity for much longer. I have NEVER had such bad service in my life

This places apparently closes at 11pm but last call is 10:20. What??!? Additionally, they were nasty about it. “We close at 11pm but don’t serve after 10:20, get out!” Just keep walking up the street to the Sussex Arms, they are happy to serve you at 10:30pm. Sad, looks like a nice pub but ruined with terrible service.

English pub for tourists with decent typical English food, good beer, negative sides: service and not courtesy of the staff, cleanliness of the place but above all they added a tip of 80 pounds to the bill which was not authorized by us, luckily we noticed it and they canceled the payment, but what if we hadn't noticed???? Pay attention

Bar très sympa avec un bon nombre de bières différentes. La nourriture est très bonne mais le service est un tout petit peu long. Super ambiance dans le bar pendant les matchs de l’EURO 2024 surtout quand c’est l’Angleterre qui joue.

I recommend a stop to try excellent beers, good food but above all chat with the owner who is really fun. A little expensive perhaps but like all of London I think.... Recommended.

Do not go here. Awful service. After ordering and paying, we were told it would be a 30min wait for food. After waiting 10mins they came and told us they didn't have the ingredients for our meals. They offered a refund but nothing else.

Very bad experience, we had a reservation and while we were waiting they offered us a beer for which they made us pay on the spot. After this they rushed us to order because the kitchen was closing. We decided on sandwiches but they only made them until 7:00 p.m.... and you had to order at the counter. Unkind treatment.

The guy with the man bun called camilo was unnecessarily rude and sent my group of 9 people away even when the bar was completely empty. He asked me if I was 18 and I responded yes and proceeded to show him my ID, which he verified (as I am 24). After this he proceeded to laugh with his peer and state I look 12 years old and told my friends that he wouldn’t serve most of us and will kick us out. Given that the bar was as empty as it was and he verified all of our ids and proceeded to be extremely rude. I will never be visiting this location again and if there was a rating lower than 1/5 I would give that. Never visit this branch

Kitchen “open until 10.” Apparently not. Arrived at 2. Kitchen closed. Didn’t have most menu items anyway. Poorly managed for a well known pub group.

Great service! Best place to watch football

The place is amazing, the beer is great, great viewing for sport. However the staff were awful. In particular the owner was horrible. We booked a table and had been buying drinks. My friend arrived late and wasn’t allowed entry despite us having booked a table. She was spoken to so horribly and awfully by the owner (blonde haired lady). Again good pub, awful and horrible owner.

Had a table booked for the football, I went in with my friends and my girlfriend went to join us 5 minutes later. The manager was incredibly rude and shouted at my girlfriend saying it was one in one out despite having a reservarjijb

A lovely pub with great staff who are very professional even when i witnessed customers being extremely rude. Why do people think it's right to disrespect people in hospitality. The fish and chips were amazing. All served hot and by a very pleasant young man. I will definitely return to this pub and would recommend it. 10 stars to all the staff.

Had the makings of a great wee pub to meet with friends. Bar man (black hair, pony tail) only interested in serving girls and intensely chatting to them whilst many wait to get served. When challenged to speed up and serve he made feeble excuses………..clearly he has his own agenda as I witnessed this so many times. Pool table, when asked if we could use it the we got told it was broke……fast forward an hour and a group of guys switched it on and hey presto it was working fine…….clearly the staff can’t be bothered, London I suppose.

I was extremely disappointed. I felt offended,like racism. I have to wait for food for over one hour. I never ever come back again.

The funniest place I have ever been to. Cami was great, full of energy and very friendly. Served us quickly and made us laugh, definitely a place for younger people but still a great place regardless. Except the Prosecco is kind of pricey !

I went here recently on trip to London but this pub was diabolical would not recommend! The women with blonde hair was rude, blunt and terrible service did accommodate to are needs!!!

When you did get food once, it was a big disappointment... The first food you wanted was out of the kitchen. The second substitute was the chicken wings, which were small, dry, meatless and tasteless. The French are fine. It wouldn't have been worth it. As a pub, it's an okay place. *** The kitchen was closed, although the menus were still found on the tables, the matter was only clarified at the counter. A bit rude service. Standard faucets, no gimmicks. A long and narrow space, with a bilis table at the back. Otherwise, pretty much the same as all the other pubs nearby. The exception was the TV by the front door, where you can watch football.

Shola Was the nicest bartender I have come across. As an Ausie lost in London the sexy British accent made the piney go down extra easy come visit and ask for shola she will pour the frosty ones for you!

I visited Dickens on the 8th June, I haven’t stepped foot in London for 10+ years. I came down for the rugby and Dickens was the first pub we went to. From the decor to the service was phenomenal, Peter and Shona were amazing. They went above beyond for myself and every other customer I saw them interact with. A real English pub!!!!!

Place was ok I went with my sister and she ordered the chicken katsu burger and I ordered the fish and chips. Service didn’t take long and the food was good. The fish is massive with the fish and chips - very filling. However, I paid £1.75 extra for the curry sauce and when the food came out the curry sauce was less then half the pot full - literally a tablespoon of sauce that had probably been heated in the microwave for god knows how long. I mean it was BOILING and I ended up burning my tongue - you wouldn’t expect a sauce to be scorching hot. I spoke to one of the guys on the team if they could give me a full pot of the sauce considering I paid £1.75 for it and he took the pot and spent 7/8m (I was nearly halfway through my food + I was sitting next to the kitchen) and then came out and you could easily tell the sauce had just been transferred into another pot - nothing extra added and again had probably left it in the microwave for 5 whole minutes - ridiculous! If there was no more left they could have just said instead of treating their customers like they’re stupid and wouldn’t realise.the white one was the first pot and then just transferred into the blue one and that’s how much they brought

First time in the UK from the states and Had an amazing experience. The customer service is top tier and the environment is extremely inviting Camilo(sp?) was amazing! From the service to the personal connection/conversation. We felt extremely welcome and comfortable in this environment. Definitely will recommend! Thank you!

We ordered the food, staid more then 40 minutes waiting and they forgot it, and closed the kitchen without serving us. Very bad experience.

Staff were friendly and welcoming, but the food was only ok. Getting four small onion rings for £3.25 extra and one tiny piece of streaky bacon in the cheese and bacon burger was a bit disappointing.

Let’s start this run down experience, when u order at the bar (which is okay nothing to say here), the blonde barwoman without a single look neither a kind treat take our order, half hour for a smashed crisp potatoes, then another half hour for 2 fish and chips, unacceptable, I asked why they took so long, then Kamil which is why I give 1 star and not 0 to the service, kindly tells us they are short of personal in kitchen and thats why they took so long; in resume, let’s say that if u want to give a better and proper service you should hire another kitchen chef or a support for the actual chef, this way much more people will not have to suffer your higher prices for the worst service.

They couldn't serve a snack food (battered halloumi) in 1h15' on a normal weekday night.!

We came in for the experience of trying the famous fish and chips and the joke was a bit expensive, things in general were not bad but it is not a place that I would repeat again. Anyway it wasn't a bad experience

My mom and I came into the pub two nights in a row! One night was calm and quiet, and the other was packed and buzzing! The common factor of both evenings that made it such an enjoyable experience was our waiter/host Kamil! He was just the best! We had lovely conversation with him both evenings. He was a great server and made our dining experience! My mom and I felt as though we had made a new friend! Thanks Kamil!

Went here today with a friend for lunch and to watch football. Very poorly managed. Ordered the steak and ale pie which was nice, but the chips that came with it were hard and over cooked. I asked the barman for ketchup which he then forgot about. I then had to call him over a second time when he told me they had completely run out of all sauces. The pub had about 25 tables and none had sauce when the pub wasn’t busy! They forgot to put sound on the TV when the football started. I asked about it at the bar and the barman said he was new and didn’t know how the sound system worked, but he would check with the manager. Again, I assume he forgot. We had a game of pool after eating where the card reader charged my friend twice and only allowed us to play once. My friend ordered a coke at the bar and was told they only had Diet Coke on tap, otherwise he would have to pay extra for a bottle. Everything about this pub was slow, difficult and disorganised. Customers felt like a nuisance. We left for another bar at half time which was much more accommodating. I won’t be visiting again. PS. I don’t want to blame this on a new member of staff. His manager should be doing better.

Really good food very well prepared. Took slightly longer to get my meal but it was worth the wait. And in fairness, it was Friday peak time. Great pub atmosphere (for the Americans out there) and a friendly crowd.

During busy dinner Kam kept his cool and was very helpful and professional. Extra points for knowledge of Dutch music and cheese.
