First off, this is my favourite No.1 pub in the ST5 area, both for food and drink. That said we booked a table, early evening, for a family birthday party. We arrived to see a sign on the door saying, kitchen problems, no food. We enquired at the bar and they said, as we had booked that they would honour our booking. The “sizzling “ platters arrived, unfortunately no sizzle. We didn’t send them back as I don’t think they had a chef? Any way, nearly all the food was Luke warm at best, the gravy and the chips were cold. Very disappointing evening in an empty room! Fortunately it won’t stop me from going back for the fish and chips! Also, last 3 visits, been plagued by dive bombing house flies, some serious swatting needed!

Great service and value for money, loved the salmon sizzler

As a chain pub we know what to expect. It was good value whilst the food was average quality. The outside of the building was unclean and untidy, there were glasses and bottles from previous guests when we arrived. Those and more were still there when we left after our meal. The staff were friendly.

The food was nice and the service quick even though they had a large party in at the same time.

Amazing never had such a good meal not from down here but come to see family often and come here every time and it’s amazing never disappointed the food is amazing and the wait time is always quick drinks and food are spectacular and the price is outstanding one of the best fish I ever had staff are lovely aswell ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Can't remember the exact amount of the lunch time meal deal but can remember what fantastic value it was and tasty. Where else can you sit down with Gammon, egg and chips, lasagne, garlic bread and chips, one large pepsi, and a pint of Guinness for £21.. absolute bargain, well done.

Kinda disappointed. Ordered a Giant Gyros. Received half plate of vegetables. Under the few piece of fries and meat. 😐 This is not a gyros. The Hunters Chicken is tasteless, the other chicken plate has a few chicken whats raw/not cooked properly. Anyway, if you need a good headchef, call me. 😉 (I saved 2 restaurant from closing down and doubled the daily sales.)

The meal was exactly as expected (very good) and the staff were very hospitable

First time trying here today. I ordered fish & chips my partner ordered surf & turf. When the food came out fish looked nice but when eating it was sloppy inside it was like eating mush. Also found hair on my plate along with long stringy things from the fish. My partners steak, which we upgraded to 8oz was just pure fat no meat on at all. Couldn’t speak to staff as no one came to us to ask if meal was ok, we also waited 15/20 mins after finishing for plates to clear so we could talk to them, but they didn’t clear our table either. Will not be returning.

Lovely food for pub food. Not home cooked

Me and my partner have been here numerous occasions now, and it's been good to very poor, but today they hit an all time low, unedable rubbish, when my girlfriend complained they said they would have a word but never returned. Don't let my review stop you from having drinks their as it has a really nice atmosphere, sadly I can't say the same about the food.

Sizzler pub, the snapping came quickly and was very nice. The staff were very friendly, and there's loads of car parking space. The name of the pub appeals to my childish humour also.

Really good food and the atmosphere is great! Great value for money and the puddings are lovely! The outdoor space is wonderful in the summer and the fact they are dog friendly is a bonus! Would recommend booking if wanting to bring the dog as always busy!

I bet the Greeks do not have that much boiled veggies tucked away from view and covered in a bit of meat and some fries. And I bet they don't empty a whole bottle of mayo per portion. The food, well, half of it anyway, went back. Service was OK-ish. Late, no cutlery, no napkins, had to go back for everything, she apologised and was very friendly, but still very late. Not going back there anytime soon, not recommending this to my friends. I care too much about them.

A good pub of the Sizzling brand. Food and drinks of a good value although I would wish the staff knew how to make a cocktail properly and present it like the menu photos instead of throwing whatever spirits into the easiest available glass. Parking is ample and food is great though with lots to choose from.

The food was great, the service was very good nothing was too much trouble for us. The only thing was the service behind the bar was a little slow. It was very popular and maybe needed another person behind the bar to help out when there was a queue? Nevertheless we will be coming back to sample more of your menu. Thanks Jill.

Service service service. N line to be served , 2 barmen on duty , the one who served the person in front of me said to other patrons were before me on the other side of the bar and he went to serve them fair enough. Four other people joined line that side of the bar and were being served by second bar staff. So much for next in line each one of these customers ordered food in front of me then when eventually the first bar person came to take my order there was then a thirty minute wait.

Had two fish and chips that were cooked beautifully and not at all greasy. Staff were very friendly and attentive. It was busy but we didn't have to wait long for our meals. Lovely warm and comfortable pub. We enjoyed our visit we re-booked straight away.

Used this pub many times with no problems . Yesterday went with my husband had a mixed grill the chips looked and tasted like they had been fried refried and refried again hard over cooked not nice

Very nice surroundings dog friendly, food was good and good value with friendly staff, all in a pleasurable experience.

Food was lovely, went for a wake. Unfortunately it was very busy, the area wasn't cornered off and people kept coming in and asking about the table. Not pubs totally pubs fault. But if it was solely in the conservatory as discussed maybe a barrier like a queueing one would stop this. As happening numerous times Food wise... amazing!

Regular customer here and on the whole very satisfied. Food / drinks/ staff/ atmosphere all very good. My big gripe is the LOUD MUSIC ! Go in for a nice meal and a chat, and you have to shout to hear a conversation above the awful, non descript row. Please management GET RID OF IT !.

I went here with my daughter. I had booked a table. Chose what we were eating, went to the bar, and paid. Waited a short time for our meals. The food was good, tasty, hot. Good pub grub

Quite busy at 2pm Monday. Good came quick and was quite nice. I had the vegan option of BBQ ribs

Not been for a while and they have a new menu but it was absolutely lovely. Tried the chicken and mushroom pie and the salted caramel profiteroles, both were delicious. Definitely won't leave it as long to come back next time

My belated mother’s day meal completely ruined by an extremely rude and arrogant manager who does not deserve a job. Lady behind bar who took food order made a mistake, pressed wrong button on till so one of the meals was wrong. The manager came over and caused a scene demanding extra money for THEI R mistake. She was not at all apologetic, my son went over to the bar to try to sort it out with her, she had absolutely no skill whatsoever in trying to resolve the problem, spoke to him like dirt and just kept demanding extra money. My son paid the extra money in the end to shut her up, so we did not stop for sweets or extra drinks, couldn’t get out quickly enough. Look out everybody so it does not happen to you. Defo won’t be going back there. My belated mother’s day meal completely ruined.

Lovely lunch this afternoon. Tried some of the new chicken dishes-Spicy Chicken Nachos for starter and Crispy Chicken Feast for main-bf had breaded mushrooms and a Mega Mixed Grill. Fabulous 👌🤩

Told us we had to wait 45 mins for food we waiting 1 hour and 10 mins . The food was lovely we finished went up to the bar to order puddings to be told they have. Stopped serving food now 🤬 so we r not happy there was 5 of us

Had lunch here with my friend and my daughter. We got there at 12 pm, and the majority of the tables were reserved. We eventually managed to find one in the conservatory. The first thing we both commented on was the sticky floor. We ordered meals from the 2 meals for £11.75 menu, I had the fish and chips with garden peas, and my friend had the lasagne with garlic bread. My daughter had the under 5s kids meal for £4.49 which she chose 2 fish fingers, garlic bread, and beans, and make your own sundae and a lemonade. Food arrived promptly and was piping hot. The fish was beautifully cooked, and the batter wasn't greasy. We all commented on how nice the meals were. A service check back was carried out. The pub also had pictures and colouring in crayons for children. We had no faults about the food. What let it down was all the tables being reserved and the sticky floor.

Thoroughly good lunch, good food and service. Minor disappointment was that the table was in the corner and too dark. Note for next time...a different table.

Beautiful meal, presentation was excellent, food was hot, it was very busy but the staff found us a table, staff were excellent, advised on vegetarian options for my friend, loved the relaxed atmosphere couldn’t fault it, staff always appear to be happy even though they are certainly kept busy, would defo recommend and shall be returning

Have been several times but just want to say this place never fails. Staff are always lovely staff, very accommodating our needs and its always a great atmosphere. Although they were busy (testament to how good the place is) the food was spot on. Been a while since i was last here but i will definitely be back again

Visited last night with a friend, we set up a tab and explained we had a voucher and the woman said that's fine. A few hours later I went to pay the tab, the woman ( her name was vic) was quite rude in saying we couldn't use the voucher. Which wasn't a problem so we payed, after paying I asked why we couldn't use it as the woman before said it was fine, she failed to give an explanation so I asked to speak to the manager, she said the manger doesn't work Saturdays, so then I asked for an assistant manager she said they don't have one ( they do she lives above the pub) she then turned to my friend and was very,very rude to her she involved a few selective words that were uncalled for. I explained she was being rude and out of order, she then told us to "get the f**k out" not very professional as we only asked to talk to a manager or assistant manger. Our other friend then came to us as he over heard and also explained she was being vile and out of order. We have been customers for many years here and never had any problems until last night. I don't think this woman should be allowed near customers, she has no customer service at all and definitely no manners she is very rude and a very dirty choice of words. I will be coming in over the next few days to speak to the manger to pit my complaint in further, we go there to have a good time not to get verbally abused by the staff members.

I'd like to thank who ever is running this lovely pub. Clearly have the customers at the heart. Very reasonably priced, which is hard to come by in these times. But the kids meal! No skimping here, lovely varied plate of food and all for £1 with an adult meal. Absolutely amazing value and so thoughtful for struggling families. Everything from drinks to food is reasonable on price meaning the pub is inclusive to all. Welldone ☺️ mom of a kid that went to bed with a full tummy ☺️ also staff and kitchen accommodating to food intolerances 👍

We haven't been here for a quite a while but it is just as lovely as we remember. Lovely food and staff, and the place is very clean.

Typical pub grub, all tables had reserved at signs 16.00hrs even though not reserved until 19.00hrs made you feel unwelcome and this was also said by another customer we spoke with

A fantastic warm welcome when I visited after getting a flat tyre near the pub. I was very impressed by their customers service and friendliness.

I had mixed grill, my friend had mega mix grill. All OK but I'm not fan of mushrooms and tomatoes, so would be nice if offer alternative. Example egg or beans? Otherwise I liked it and been a few times and will return. Service was good.

They don't answer the phone. Or send. a E mail conformation. They food is good and good value. Had today extra for mushy peas.

Small chain pub with friendly staff and good food. Prices are average for Newcastle and food of good quality.

The price was very competitive and the food was good. The sevice was excellent and being able to order to your table using the QR code was really convenient.

Spot on food as usual, staff were lovely even though busy and dealing with what I can only describe as difficult customers.

It's been a few years since our last visit and it's really sad that it's changed so much it that time. It used to have such a great atmosphere and very friendly staff, which gave it a lovely local pub feel. Now, the ladies toilets are disgusting and need a good clean, there was dirty cutlery in the holder and the bar staff, particularly the duty manager needs a personality transplant and needs to use a bit of common sense. There were lots of food options that were unavailable which is really disappointing particularly after spending so much time selecting from the menu. There were a number of customers having to have heated conversations with the duty manager which made it uncomfortable to be there with our families. Seemed like she enjoys being difficult with customers. All in all not a great experience and it will definitely be a long time before we consider visiting again.

Called in for a drink and the toilet while out walking, and were greeted by an insolent, rude member of staff. There was no need for his disrespectful sarcastic attitude. Never again!

Love this place, relaxing atmosphere, great food and excellent service

Had main meal and had to wait almost 20mins after finishing my main meal for my dessert had to go to the bar to ask where it was. Still took another 5mins before I was served. Food wasn’t to bad.

Came for tea not booked, although it was very busy service was cook and food came quickly with no problems

Food was absolutely delicious, both ladies who served us were friendly. However, because there was only one serving at a very busy bar / food order point, we used the QR code on the table to order and pay. Felt very sorry for the guy working the bar, could certainly do with more staff as not everyone is willing to use the QR system.

The food arrived on skillet's and was piping hot and delicious. Having sampled the beer and gin away from our table early evening we chose a bottle of "house white" to go with the fish and chicken we had ordered. The wine was very nice excellent value and came with two glasses that were sparking clean. This visit was faultless. I'm a fan of Skillet's generally we had salmon and chicken for which they are ideal however for steaks not so good, the skillet is so hot the meat dose not relax and it continues too cook at the table......medium rare becomes medium at the table etc etc.....

Excellent food and quick service

Food was faultless, however, as I ordered my food, as I didn’t want peas with my meal, I got salad instead. When the food was brought out, our waitress stated that my choice was a “weird choice” in a cold and impolite manor, which made me feel very embarrassed and unwelcome in the setting.

Typical pub food, cheapish and cheerful. Only grumble, they take a while to clear the table, waitresses walk past and don't bother to take your plate away, this has happened a few times, we have to ask for it be cleared. Otherwise not bad.

Go there very regularly, food is the best out of the sizzling pubs locally. The staff are great ,( if not understaffed at busy times). My big gripe is with this, and other sister pubs, THE MUSIC IS ON TOO LOUD. People do NOT go in to listen to piped garbage drowning out their conversation!!! Management please listen, perhaps a little gentle Christmas music, but not that disco rubbish!
