What a fantastic venue. We enjoyed a lovely meal last night, all the staff were friendly and knowledgeable and really made you welcome. Would highly recommend this hidden gem to the people of Coventry.

Went here as in area well somewhere you should visit if here I have a problem with spicy food but like Indian food so asked to cut down on spice but keep the flavour well they did a great job service was great not the cheapest food but will be back when in are as my son lives here so book a table give it ago big thanks to staff

An Indian restaurant that serves beautiful Indian food. The restaurant gives you a traditional atmosphere. The food is excellent. I highly recommend the Chicken Akbari it’s stunning. George and Ziggy are so polite and helpful. I recommend visiting this restaurant.

Very nice. I would recommend the lamb Dhansak with garlic rice nann bread was soft and fluffy. We have been a few times over the years and never had a bad experience.

Had been going this place for many years before moving away. Went in tonight to grab take away snd realised how much I miss the food here.

My partner and I visited here with our children in the hope to get some propper authentic Indian food. After having average tasteless Indian food from takeaways we hoped for something better. We had visited here a lot of times in the past but not in a long time and remember that the food was really good but not now The decor is tired and dated. The air conditioning was covered in dusty cobwebs what was not good as it was a very hot day. There were fans dotted about the place but it was still very uncomfortable. We were given a very small table , there was barely enough room for the food. There was a dead fish floating around in the fish tank. The drinks weren't very cold . My daughter had a coke it was flat and on the visit to the old urine, scented toilets we discovered the customers coke was being poured from a large shared plastic bottle behind the bar. The food was fresh. There was plenty of soft meat and a nice thick sauce in the curries .The portions were large but it was bland. The curries lacked flavour and that extra depth Indian curries used to have . The naan was the same very fresh but no flavour. The egg fried rice was nice and fluffy. The staff were very friendly but we felt quite rushed to order. As soon as we sat down the waiter gave us the drinks menu stood there and asked what we wanted to drink . Unfortunately this place is nowhere near as good as it used to be . We won't be returning or recommending.

Well known to locals. Friendly welcoming staff serving good food at a reasonable price. They also offer a takeaway menu if you would rather eat at home.

If you go here in the evening do not worry about the state of the street in which this restaurant is. All the shops were shuttered, but go up the stairs to the restaurant and you will not be disappointed. Great food, friendly staff, good service. We enjoyed it so much we went back again the next evening.

I have now had two meals at the Dhaka Dynasty and on both occasions, the food has been excellent, the staff are very friendly and the atmosphere was very good. A lovely place not far from Coventry city centre to have a great experience- thank you.

Tonight we were recommended this restaurant by many friends and family. We arrived and the venue did not dissapoint. It was clean with an authentic ambiance. My partner and I ordered for starters fish pakora and king prawn tikka and wow the tastes were amazing. We followed with a chicken pathia which had a nice kick and also a lamb methia. Both of these dishes recommended by close friends. The staff were extremely attentive and very accommodating. We would definitely recommend this restaurant again and will be visiting again very soon.

A work colleague of mine recommended Dhaka Dynasty, as he had been there several times. There seems to be two parts to the restaurant, an upstairs sit down area, and a downstairs take away. The takeaway part looked closed when I drove by, so I thought the restaurant was too. After calling my friend who was inside, he said it is the door on the side that leads upstairs. This is for those of you who go and think it might be closed. Going upstairs, right away is a nice waiting area and bar. We were taken to our table where the waiter took our orders and brought our drinks. We started with poppadoms and four sauces and toppings (a yellow sweet sauce, an apple-ish chutney, a red spicy sauce and chopped onions). I forgot their proper names but there was a lot of variety and with the poppodoms being huge there were many combinations to try. For entree I had the Dhaka Special Masala which is chicken, lamb, tandoori chicken, cream and egg. This is definitely up there as one of the best Indian meals I have had. Great portion size and quality. Not spicy and a bit sweet. On its own I'd give it a 10 out of 10. I also ordered the pilau rice which was colorful and tasty. This would be my only complaint, that there wasn't enough of the rice. I also ordered the Keema Naan which was a good sized portion and perfectly seasoned. This Naan could be quite filling on its own. My colleague also ordered the Chicken Dansak, to share, which was also delicious. It was sweet but seasoned very well. The waiters kept checking on us which was nice. We always had full glasses and anything else we needed. Overall great restaurant and will be returning. I ordered a Chicken Rogan Josh for later and was glad I did. Letting the flavors marinade more over night made the taste even better. As always the prices are relative, an entree and rice will be about £10. To get a Naan is another £2.50. I would recommend looking at the menu as there are a lot of choices.

My favourite Indian - never had a bad experience, the staff are always friendly and willing to recommend meals, and the food is great.

Went here with 13 work colleagues, we weren't sure at first as it doesn't look the best from the outside. Inside however its great and the food is wonderful, if you're in the area you must give it a try, you won't be disappointed....

I have been back to Dhaka Dynasty 7 times now and it just gets better. The service is attentive, but relaxing. I am fussy on what i eat and i expect the highest quality, the difference between Dhaka Dynasty and every other curry house is they have staff who know what they are talking about and a chef who can deliver the finished article to the highest degree. I was served by a very knowledgeable chap called AK, I couldn't make up my mind and he just asked me what i liked, WOW!! I got a curry which ticked every box i have. No need for menus as i just ask them for their recommendations cooked to how i like my curries. I don't like the hotness from chillies but love the flavour and my meals only get better at the hands of their quality chef. Just be brave and ask a waiter what they would recommend and be prepared to taste the delights of a true chef. Every person who has visited this delightful establishment with me has only said one word - Wow! Many thanks Ak for your wealth of knowledge on the dishes and the delights on how different flavours work together, in my eyes and the people who have been with me this is by far the best curry house in Coventry.

We have visited a few times in the past and always enjoyed the food. It used to be almost empty and soulless. This time there was a good crowd in a different the atmosphere was great! The service was good - attentive without being "in your face". The food was as good as ever and we had a great evening. Thanks folks!

Haven't been for years but the quality of the food and the service really good.. don't be put off by the exterior or the stairs because the restaurant is nicely decorated and you get a warm welcome. The food and drink is reasonably priced and the menu is quite varied. Nice sized portions and served in a timely manner. Food quality is excellent and well worth a visit.

In an area that looks slightly dodgy is Dhaka. It's worth hunting out and climbing the stairs to eat. Food decent, large portions, priced competitively. Decent dhansak and peshwari. Look beyond the decor - would happily return.

Excellent takeaway, best takeaway Chicken Shashlick so far, Wife says the same about the Chicken Tikka Biryani, generous helpings, good value and friendly staff. Now our favourite.

I booked a table here for a bit of a team meal with colleagues. Situated above a bargain shop in a city suburb, the approach is uninspirinng to say teh least. Despite acknowledging the booking by 'phone they acted a bit surprised when we turned up! That was borne out in the slowish service. But the food was fine, we all had ample servings and enjoyed what we ate. The fish tank kept us entertained as well!

Me and my friend have been coming here for over 15 years and we love it. It's nothing posh or fancy. It's just a standard Indian restaurant. The service is good and food is always nice to eat and we really enjoy it. If you ask them to make you something in a certain way, they'll do it for you. Nothing loud or irritating in this restaurant either. Just right.

This was a good value night out that we enjoyed. The surroundings could be better but the service is friendly enough and the drinks a reasonable price.

This was the first time we had been for many months and we were left disappointed. The Chicken Tikka Masala did not taste very nice and when we have had it in the past it was really nice. I am not sure if there is a new chef or it's a new recipe. On the plus side the onion bhaji starters were very nice. Also the starters arrived at the same time as the mains so it was cold by the time we had finished the starters.

Always use for takeaway nowadays only beacause of steep stairs to restaurant always good quality and the service is great. Food is very good and wide range of choice

This restaurant has been open for about 25 years and has always been competent at what it does. It is very much a formula curry house with all the usual stuff on the menu. It is not really somewhere to go to be wowed with the latest creations as I dont think the menu has changed in years and surroundings wise it is somewhere for getting together with friends and having fun rather than a date or any other kind of special night out.

1st visit tonight for many years and was impressed with the curry's we had. Chicken Tikka garlic was delicious. As was pretty much everything we ordered.Have been looking for a new Indian takeaway as previous ones I've used have gone down hill in recent months. Will definitely be back. Enjoyed it!

Brilliant freshly cooked food and the team are really helpful in catering to your tastes and helping you choose what is the right dish for you.They also take the taste card making it even better value. Good after a night out and good for date night!

Firstly, I was put off with the outside decor but thought we would still give it a go. On entering the grotty staircase I felt like I had returned to 1979! The decor is so outdated and the blinds were so filthy with food stains that the place may be renamed Dhaka Dysentery!!!! A good deep clean would not go amiss. The service was reasonable and nothing out of the ordinary, in fact that summarises the whole dining experience.At the end of the day it is not five star rated and so cannot be judged on that basis. In general it is a bog standard 'Indian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani eatery with bland oily food'I suppose what suits one may not suit all and a number of people seem happy following their reviews, unfortunately we won't be back.Much better places to try in Coventry.

We came here last night for dinner at about 7-30pm,it is situated above the shops. We were not impressed with the food at all . All I can say it was just about edible and the cobra beer is only available on draft not in bottles which I think is better.

Use the restaurant for both eat in and take away; most friendly staff; delicious food that never fails. Would highly recommend.

Have been here many many times as live 30 seconds away. Always great food and great service. Staff accommodating and helpful! Doesn't take long for food to come at all, even at busy times! Prices very reasonable also, went for meal last night and for 4 meals all with sundries and few drinks was less than £50!! Will continue to come here!!

We eat here fairly regular over several years & have never been disappointed. Staff are always friendly. Prices are great & get value for money.

We often have take-away curries from here and occasionally eat in. We have never had a bad meal from this place in all the years we have been visiting, a great curry, highly recommended. One thing I will note though is that if you have walking issues it's up a steep flight of stairs, the stairs are straight with a hand rail; hence me not being able to go in there much as I do struggle with stairs sometimes. I can't fault the food or the staff though, they are all lovely!

My wife and I were at the NEC in Birmingham and this restaurant was recommended to us along with 2 others close by, we did not like the location of the Dhaka ( Snobs really) which is above a Premier Food shop so we drove to the other 2 recommended restaurants which were both empty not a good sign. We returned to the Dhaka Dynasty to see that it was full, one of the family members swiftly found us a table for 2, we told him of our nights experience and he went on to say they had plans to modernize the restaurant but the regulars wanted to keep it the way that it was, and they were so right This is an absolute gem don't be put off by the location go straight in, the one thing we went for yes a meal, this did not disappoint excellent all round and well worth the journey from Birmingham, great quality, great value, and excellent staff.I will be returning with friends in June.

We always enjoy our time at the Dhaka. The food is a high standard and staff friendly and very helpful. Highly recommend we have been going there for years as a couple and with family and friends. We are never disappointed

I used to pre-order food from this restaurant-collect and return home to eat with the family.Recently I joined family members at the cosy restaurant and ate on the premises.There was a good atmosphere in the place enjoyed by others who were keen to express their pleasure in quick service and the opportunity to consume tasty hot food on their night out.The one good point in my opinion is the staff appear to be the same over the last 6 years.They bond well together and insist on keeping their clients happy in the safe environment of the restaurant

Visited the Dhaka dynasty with a group of twelve friends we didn't book a table and the staff made us all feel welcome, we all agreed after the meal that the food was really good everyone enjoyed their curries, I've been coming to this restaurant for years and I rate this place as one of the best food is alway consistent and very tasty love this restaurant.

I have been to the Dhaka a number of times since I moved to Coventry a few years ago, and have both eaten and taken away. It's not let me down yet.It really doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside is pleasant enough. Staff are always friendly too. How busy it really depends on what night of the week it is (as it usually does), was especially quiet last time (Tuesday night) and by about 9pm we were the only table in there!The food is always good, fresh & not overly greasy.Recently went using a Groupon voucher (although would have gone anyway) which made it a ridiculously good deal. Mixed kebab to start was great, well cooked and delicious. "Meat" (always slightly worrying) dupiaza was great, as was family's veggie jalfrezi, "meat" bhuna, tikka masala. All rices were lovely and fluffy (pilau, mushroom pilau, special), and the naans were well really good as well.Ultimately when you find an Indian that is reliable/consistent for a good price and with good service you go back time and time again. Not saying it's the best in Coventry (as others have) as I've only eaten at a couple of others - but you shouldn't leave disappointed and will definitely be able to do worse.It doesn't do delivery to my knowledge (either direct or through Just Eat/Hungry House etc.)...a free bonus recommendation for you, if you are desperate for a delivered Indian - "Tandoori Nights at the Charter House" (on Just Eat) is absolutely outstanding. Can have long delivery times (up to 90 mins) on Friday/Saturday nights as it's popular, but it's so worth the wait. Food always piping hot and extremely tasty.

Best Indian restaurant in Coventry, I have come here a couple of times with my dad when he's in Coventry md this place never fails to impress. The food is good, the drinks are good but small selection of puddings. Great atmosphere. You won't be disappointed

We visit this restaurant at least monthly and always have a superbly cooked meal. Whether you like a mild curry or one to knock your socks off then this is the place to eat. For a superb hot curry try the South Indian Chilli Garlic Chicken. I personally enjoy eating the Thali as it gives you 3 varieties of curries to try. Whatever your choice it will be served fresh and hot with a big smile.

The Dhaka Dynasty is a firm favourite for our family. Whenever there is a special occasion to be celebrated, this is the place we choose!The service is very good, with helpful waiters who are always around should you need to ask something. They are very generous, always giving us an extra poppadom or two!The poppadoms and dips are always served almost instantaneously after we've ordered them! The main course is not served as fast as the poppadoms are, as everything is cooked freshly and obviously curries take longer, but we're usually surprised with how little time it takes to be served with our delicious meal!My favourite, the Chicken Tikka Masala, is always amazing; really creamy and smooth, with a little spicy kick but not too much on the spicy side, and the naan breads are so fresh and lovely! One of my favourite and most visited restaurants, which I will definitely be revisiting in the near future!

After visiting this restaurant for the first time with a large group of friends, I definitely want to plan another visit. Staff were lovely and very accommodating, even with such a big group of us, they managed to get food served on time and handled service efficiently. I would recommend the food to any curry-lovers! Dishes were extremely fresh and well cooked, and although prices could have been better, they were still reasonable considering the quality of food and service. Would love to visit again!

My husband and I have been using this restaurant for many years now. Food is always good. The staff are always attentive and make you feel welcome. They will always oblige if you require your choice of meal adjusting the heat up or down a bit or adjusting due to a dietary requirement. We frequent this restaurant on average twice a week sometimes more. We Highly recommend .

As a family we will often have a takeaway from the Dhaka our local Indian Restaurant, we have never had a bad meal from there. The food is amazing and is always presented lovely even the takeaways have sprinkles of coriander, or sliced almonds or sliced garlic on top. Our favourite dishes are mixed tandoori shashlik, lamb tikka patia last night we had a mixture of starters, lamb tikka patia, Garlic chicken tikka, chilli nan, plain nan and fried rice it was delicious. The staff are always friendly and polite too if we have a takeaway we often sit and have a cobra beer chatting to them. If you eat inside the restaurant the experience is good too, it is very clean and comfortable. I have been with my Bookclub friends who live in different areas of Coventry and they loved the Dakka and have been for a couple of meals now with me.They offer a discount on takeaways too even though their prices are very reasonable anyway.

We are regular visitors to this restaurant and have always found the food to be superb and the staff so welcoming.Over the years we have tried pretty much all meals on the menu and if you wish to try something very hot i would recommend the South Indian Chilli garlic chicken. For a mild dish then try Butter chicken or the Korma.As a starter i opt for the Prawn Puri which is always presented with side salad and is a mild tasy dish. Ask teh staff for recommendations and they are only too happy to help.

This is a great place not had a bad meal yet and we go at least 3 times a month they will cook anything on the menu to your taste as hot as you like ha ha. Great food,friendly staff, good night out.

Needed to get round to reviewing this one, been 4 times in last 3 months, all i can say amazing food, interesting fresh flavours and look forward to our next visit. I have been trying different things off the menu i would have never tried before and by asking the staff about the dishes have hit the jackpot every time. portions are a good size and i am always full when i leave. really want to go again tonight now i have sat and wrote this.

Took an hour and a half to get our starters and then they were taken away before we had even finished. Waited another hour and when food arrived it was cold. When complaining about time taken. The staff were very rude and dismissive. It was obvious the regulars were treated better as they were even served first. I have been going there since I was young but will never go back again. Just a dreadful experience.

If you were to judge this place from the outside you'd never go in. Mixed group in terms of age range and we all had a different dish. Starters were outstanding. Best chicken tandoori I have ever had. Main meals were good in size and appearance. Everybody but me loved their food. Mine lacked taste and I failed to eat it all but everybody else cleared their plates. Service was unobtrusive and excellent. Restaurant was nicely decorated, comfortable and friendly. Ladies loos needed a good clean but were modern in appearance.

I have tried almost every recommended curry house within 4 miles of my home in North East Coventry and the Dhaka always comes out best in my opinion. Friendly family run house for many years and recently revamped the menu but including old classics.Whenever I visit I will always know they are cooking meat from raw and mixing with the spices recognizable with each dish they serve.I recommend the BBQ South Indian garlic and chilli chicken and also the Chicken Ceylon with are both signature dishes.

Just had a lovely meal. Good was fresh and tasty. It was as spicy as you want it to be. Very friendly staff. A good choice for a meal on a Saturday night.

Food has changed, and is much tastier and fresher. Lovely chilli chicken and mushroom fried rice! My children like it and the restaurant willingly make small portions.

A Very Average restaurant serving terrible food. Almost everything is either sweet or Red in colour. Service and Hospitality could not get Colder! If you're looking for Indian cuisine, this is definitely not the place to visit.

Been going here for over 20 years, tried others but IMO this is the best. Great to eat in or takeaway, no home delivery but that's ok, enjoy a pint while you wait.

My wife and I used to frequent this place years ago when we visited Family in Coventry and it had been about 5 years since our last visit when, accompanied by our son and his girlfriend, we went there last night.The decor and general appearance is well above average and gave us hope that the food would be as good. We were not disappointed.The staff were very smartly attired and most attentive and we were seated at a table with an immaculate tablecloth and linen napkins..The Cobra lager was a very good pint and reasonably priced (£3.20 a pint).The poppadums were fresh and crisp, not at all oily and the chutneys were brilliant although I guess a stronger mint yoghurt would've been better.Our meals were superb and very reasonably priced. Even the side salads were fresh and crisp, without a wilting or browned bettuce leaf in sight.We all thoroughly enjoyed our visit and, if we're ever up that way again, we will return.

My two good friends and I go to 'The Dhakar' on a regular basis especially on or around each other's birthdays and always near Christmas. I used to live in Coventry but even now living in Solihull where there are so many Indian restaurants I still make the journey over to visit 'The Dhakar'. We have always had good food and good service and with the loyalty scheme they offer it is reasonably priced. Am off there again tomorrow and this time for no reason other than just fancying a curry!

Food was poor, best bit was the side of chips we ordered! The drinks we ordered were flat, obviously just been poured from a half open bottle! Cost was average. Best bit was being seated next to the window. Won't be going again.

have visited this restaurant now and again over a span of about twenty yonks and have always enjoyed it. I dont go to the nearby pub as much as i used to so I dont get in here too often these days. the food has always been consistently good and have never had any issues or problems. a recommended indian restaurant. great fun tryng to climb those stairs after a few beers. :)

The quality of the food here is consistently good. The ingredients are good to start with and the final product is excellent. I cannot resist the Chicken Methi myself, but everything is beautifully cooked to a fine standard. I have been cooking Indian food for over 30 yrs so I know whether they use good ingredients and whether there is a good chef in the kitchenit is certainly more cuisine than a curry, but the prices aren't fancy and the atmosphere is relaxed.The staff are lovely too, especially when they get to know you. They have many loyal and appreciative regulars and they deserve to do well.It the Dhaka wasn't there I would rather cook my own again than go to other local outlets.Thank you Dhaka - you are very much appreciated.

I think its a great place for indian food as well as the service. Tried everywhere but the dhaka is the besssst must say. Tok misty jal! (my favourite dish) try it, you wont be dissapointed.

the dhaka dynasty provides good indian food at a good price. I have only ever been on a quiet midweek evening so as for amosphere it was very quiet. the staff are helpful.

I've been going to the Dhaka for years and always get service with a smile. Food is amazing and is a great place to go for a nice meal or to end a night out. Decor has much improved over the years and will forever be known for it's fishtank. The only unpositive thing i can think to say about the Dhaka is that the soft drinks are sometimes served from a plastic bottle which is not always cold, but the rest of the drinks are fine.Looks are certainly deceptive with this place...definately worth going to...you'll certainly want to go back!
