Visited for lunch today.Great location and outlook but really mediocre food ... returned my starter as poached egg was solid and then longish wait until another attempt was prepared.No attention to detail with no serving spoons for a dish of veg which arrived late and no meat knives for our duck meals.Eating out should be a special occasion and restaurants should try harder to value customers in the hope of surviving a very difficult financial climate.On today's experience can't say I'll be beating a path back anytime soon.

The Deck has had a revamp since I last visited and the food has really improved too. The view over the marina is lovely as ever and the service was friendly and efficient. I had the sea bream with a honey chorizo sauce (gorgeous!) samphire and new potatoes with deconstructed Eton Mess to follow. Both were delicious and very good value at £21 for the two courses - this is from the lunchtime menu. The white wine was very pleasant. I would definitely recommend and will definitely return,!

Booked here in advance as a table of 9. Upon arrival the restaurant was completely empty yet our table wasn’t set up? They rushed getting our table laid and ready it’s like it was completely forgotten (and we was late!) It was completely disorganised, a waitress (who didn’t seem very confident) sat us down and there was no menus, no water glasses etc. She came over with 1 kids menu between all of us and said ‘sorry we need to print some more’. We ordered drinks and she had to pop back to check if it was right again, she also carried the tray and passed the drinks over my 4 year olds head which made me very uneasy seeing how she was not confident. Upon looking at the menu, we changed our minds, decided to drink the drinks, pay and leave. The menu is VERY limited and VERY overpriced! For the price we were about to pay I would’ve expected more attentive service and atleast some water on the table. We sat for a while and nobody came to take our order, we decided to leave it and took our custom elsewhere, it is a shame because when we left a lot of staff were hanging around the front just having a chat, they completely missed out on a big group booking here.

Table overlooking the harbour. Great food and cocktails. Will be back for more. Went back for more and still the same grate food and service, only had to wait a little longer than I would have liked.

Very disappointing. For a group of 9, a starter, dinner, and dessert took 3 hours, and my friend had the scallops and immediately got food poisoning causing him to vomit 4 times within an hour of eating them. The other food was okay at best.

Exceptional, the only place to eat!

Seen an advert saying a Little Gem hidden away at Penarth Marina. And we were not disappointed at all. Opted for the small plates (4 of them) with house salad, onion rings and Winchester Truffle Chips. Just stunning. Young lady server was very polite and tentative. A little gem indeed. Will be booking a table for my birthday 🎂 . And looking forward to trying the breakfast menu.

Terrible service - well over 3 hours in total and we were on a very tight time schedule. Food overall was ok. Mushroom wellington was minute and not good. Asian chicken skewers were just plain cooked chicken with mayonnaise. However the chocolate orange torte was exceptionally good and knocked spots over everything else we had! Definitely overpriced on all food items for the actual quality of food. This is the third bad experience of this place so needless to say we won’t be returning. It’s definitely gone seriously downhill in the last 18 months as food prior to that was delicious and worth paying the extra for.

Amazing venue right by the Dock, amazing sea food and excellent service.

I rarely leave a full 5 star review, but this restaurant definitely deserves them. I ate very well, the search for flavors and emotions that these chefs know how to dish out is at the highest levels. The service was equally precise and professional. Compliments.

Excellent food, probably one of the best steaks I've had, dessert was lovely too. Staff were very professional and very courteous, especially guys behind the bar. Will definitely revisit more often.

Imagine waking up each morning to gentle waves lapping beneath your balcony, the cool sea air a refreshing start to the day. That's exactly what my stay at The Deck was like! My room, floating right on the water, was sparkling clean and surprisingly spacious. The view was simply breathtaking - endless blue horizon meeting the vibrant city skyline. A huge shoutout to Hannah on staff! Her friendly and helpful demeanor made everything even more enjoyable. If you're looking for a luxurious stay with a touch of nautical charm, The Deck is the place to be!

I recently hired The Deck for a corporate Summer Party event using both the Jetty and Bridge Suite during the day and evening. The staff from The Deck were fantastic throughout with Claire as the Business Development Manager supporting us throughout our booking with copious queries. Claire was not only patient, but always accommodating for our needs and demands. She is an absolute credit to the business and made sure that everything we had discussed was in place ahead of time for our event. The supporting staff on the day with Mike, Will, Sam, James as well as the waitresses in the restaurant were all fantastic at the event and made sure everything ran as smoothly as possible and enjoyable for all. We highly recommend the venue for private hire and the food arranged by Lewis for our daytime BBQ was superb. I am sure from our 60 attendees, there will be plenty of returning customers at The Deck for meals, entertainment, drinks and future hire.

Bit of a shambles on two occasions, won't be back

Ordered the smashed avocado for £7.85 and received avocado on white bread. Tasteless, tiny portion (probabiy enough for a child since it was one slice of bread) and the avocado was not even ‘smashed.’ I didn’t order the egg or tomato but still got charged the same amount. The food took an hour to arrive and honestly I could have made a better one myself at home for a fraction of the cost. I asked for olive oil and they brought out regular cooking olive oil, the kind you fry in a pan, instead of extra virgin olive oil. Hugely disappointing, which is a shame given the beautiful location. Awful, avoid!!!!!

Shockingly managed restaurant. 1 member of staff doing drinks, taking orders, serving food, cleaning tables. Although he was very polite and working as quickly as he could even with 3 tables and people having drinks there was a long wait. I wasn't going to leave 1 star but after reading other reviews maybe you'll take some notice!! Food took ages and was very poor for the cost. Poorly seasoned aubergine dish, fish and chips was passable but again basics for a restaurant and wasnt cheap. Wouldn't go again

Daughters wedding venue, could not be bettered in any aspect

Tracy and Chris's Wedding was absolutely amazing, everything was done to a high standard but with a nice relaxed atmosphere could not fault all involved x

We visited this restaurant when it first opened and it was lovely. HOWEVER, we returned today for a birthday dinner and ended up leaving after a drink. We spent the first half hour waiting for two cokes (one of which was incorrect when brought to our table - twice), at which point we hadn't even seen a food menu. There were only five or so tables with people on, who had obviously been waiting for over forty minutes for their food because they were there when we arrived and had not orederd whilst we were there. Once we got up after forty minutes to leave, nobody bothered to ask as to why we were leaving. Really poor experience, so we drove to Barry to go to the Little olive, which sat us without a booking even though they were extremely busy and drinks in hand and food ordered within ten minutes of arrival.

Was really looking forward to out return visit here with the family. Such a disappointment! Restaurant wasn't busy so I can't understand the extremely slow service. Cold food & constantly asking for side orders to be brought out. No-one came to see if we were OK or if we needed extra drinks etc. Waited nearly 30mins for ice cream, decided to cancel. Then had to chase staff for the bill. Upon complaining they seemed completely disinterested. We won't be going back again

Food was satisfactory however unable to contact by phone on numerous occasions to change booking even left number for call back. Wanted to add on extra person, when asked on arrival apparently fully booked so could not add an extra seat to table. There were at least 10 tables not being used and a few with extra seats that could have been used.

Stayed in the piss which was lovely. Clean and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Staff were helpful and accommodating. Would highly recommend. We booked the the Deck restaurant, where Sam the waiter was lovely he was so polite and helpful nothing was to much trouble. Food was amazing we both had the lamb which was cooked to perfection. We both enjoyed the meal and service was second to none. Thank you Sam.

Disappointing - clearly no one in charge of service. Glasses dirty, service poor and food tasteless.

The restaurant was good - nice range of sea food and I personally liked their mussels. The parking areas were just across the street and they had plenty of spaces. The staff was nice and it was quite a great dining experience.

Called in there lunch time to see what the place was like and the it was virtually empty, hence lack of atmosphere rating. However, the service was good and the food very good quality. There is a pleasant view over the harbour and generally the environment is tastefully decorated. I'll call in again next time I visit the marina.

We loved our stay at The Deck. Wonderful rooms with a terrace in the Penarth Marina! Also the restaurant was very good.

Me and my wife had a lovely stay here in the floating pods . They are fantastic to stay in with all the facilities you get in a 5 star hotel. The most bland, overcooked, flavourless Sunday lunch we have ever eaten. My niece even said its worse than school dinners. The beef, pork, and chicken had no flavour and was dry as jerky! The potato's tasted like they were microwaved and had hard chewy skin despite looking like they might have been nice. The brocoli tasted of water and the carrots were overcooked. If we were not ravenous after waiting over an hour for it we would have left! William our server was lovely and attentive though and we couldn't fault him. To be fair when my niece said her school dinners were better, he must have known and didn't charge us but we insisted on paying our drinks at least.

Lovely location and decor looking out into the marina. Delicious fresh food with a regularly updating menu. Service was knowledgeable and friendly.

A gorgeous place paired with great service! Came here for birthday drinks and were delighted by the friendly staff, specifically our waitress Becca. She was very helpful with recommending drinks and extremely friendly. Definitely reccomend if you want quick service and welcoming staff!

Sharing plater is great value and was beautifully cooked. View of the marina adds to the generally relaxed atmosphere.

It was a little slow. As someone from the states not sure if this is the norm. One waitress, poor girl…she was doing it all. But she did it all with a smile and answered all our questions.

After shopping decided to have some lunch, a quick google and found the deck. On arrival entered car registration for free parking. We were promptly taken to the table, window seat with beautiful view of the dock. Menu gave a good range. We decided warm bread and olives to share. The bread was warm and olives were stunning. For main I had the lamb with roast vegetables. Lamb was cooked perfectly. Only criticism was no gravy and portion was small. My partner had buttermilk chicken she cleared the plate. Service was good and prices were reasonable

We have just spent a fabulous weekend here the venue is beautiful, staff lovely so accommodating. Our pod on the marina stunning, spotless and so comfy. We had a meal on the Saturday it was amazing as was breakfast. If we could give ten stars we would. Jo was a fabulous host, if your in this area you must visit. Congratulations to all staff you are doing a amazing job.

Took husband for his birthday. The pod was clean and we had a great couple of nights sleep. Had a lovely meal. Staff were friendly and very accommodating would certainly recommend.

A very good burger, the meat is juicy and well seasoned, the fries are tasty. Large portions for children. Nice and helpful staff. Affordable prices.

Teddy and Eleanor made our stay absolutely excellent and we would be happy to stay anytime they are there! The food was top class and the service made it feel like we were the only ones there!

Honest Review the venue is absolutely fantastic , the service was friendly and bubbly Now for the main bit , the food was not as warm as it could of been , the taste was extremely nice a little warm not hot , it seemed to take a long time to arrive at the table , even though it was not that busy , honest if they sort out these slight issues it would be a top venue to eat in Cardiff , also it needs more of a welcoming frontage to look open , few more lights maybe ps great value for money

Thank you Jo and Amelia. I had an amazing surprise birthday afternoon tea. A private venue to accommodate my family and friends. The food was plentiful and beautifully presented and the children were catered for as well. Nothing was too much trouble. Amelia was very attentive but unobtrusive and Jo very helpful with all the arrangements . We all had a fabulous afternoon. Thank you

Really bad customer service even when the restaurants empty. I made a complaint about an even I was ignored just shows they just really don't care. Such a shame because the atmosphere and location are great.

Had an absolutely wonderful meal. Burger was great, but burger bun could have done with less toasting.

Had a delicious meal here (seabass). Staff were very friendly. There was a little wait, but that can be expected as the food was cooked fresh👌🏻 very clean and welcoming atmosphere. Will definitely be returning. Also amazing views overlooking Penarth Marina.

We had Christmas day lunch at The Deck. The food was very good. They were short staffed so there were a few delays. The staff coped well and were very pleasant. We stayed in one of the pods in the marina, modern and comfortable. Would recommend the accommodation and the restaurant.

I would not advise anybody to go here. Possibly the worst place I have ever had the misfortune of ever having to eat at. Been here 2 hours and 20 mins and still have not had my main course. The starter took 1 hour 40 mins and it was poor. Asked for some bread and that is still not here. On a positive note the staff are wonderful but the people who this business should be ashamed of themselves. Pi$$ poor management. Can’t wait to post my trip advisor review.

Food was great, they had mac and cheese on the menu but i asked to add chicken with mack and chese. They made to order. When i had to pay, i wanted to pay in CASH but told they dont accept cash. This is unacceptable, if i have cash to pay for my food but they can not accept it due to company policy. Asked about this to the staff and she was unable to answer, noted if a customer couldn't pay then she would pay instead and would took that cash Its not the staff fault. I was kind and joking about this. But in reality this is silly that was unable to pay in cash I would advise to everybody go there and pay only in cash. Force that company to change their policy. Please pay in CASH and then complain. Together we can change things!

Enjoy our visit every time, good food always and two lovely staff Becca and Eleanor. You can't miss Tuesday Burger Club if you are a Big Burger friend! Can't wait to go there to celebrate our Christmas !!!

Have contacted multiple times to enquire about hiring the private room and have received no communication on either occasions, if you don’t want to make money just say that.

First time at the deck for a business lunch. Setting was lovely with views of the marina. Service was excellent, very friendly team. We had a mix of steak sandwiches, and a club sandwich - all were excellent. Parking was easy across the road. Will be back.

Couldn’t be more disappointed. We ordered from the festive menu which apparently they didn’t receive. We were one of 3 tables in the restaurant, the festive menu wasn’t available, despite posters stating the festive menu was available from end of November. Food was terrible, service even more so. We played our own music from my phone as their iPod (?) had ‘died’ We were given two bottles of cheap house wine as compensation. Dire. We had to ask for crackers. All this despite Joanne (the manager?) stating she’d make it as festive as she could for us. You couldn’t pay me to go back. You need to up your game, hospitality this is NOT!

First time staying here last night and it was amazing.. the pods are lovely and everything you need for a enjoyable and peaceful night away.. staff very accommodating and friendly.. also had breakfast this morning.. food was lush and excellent service from friendly staff thank you for a lovely night away.. highly recommend

Avoid this place! The steak I had was tough as old boots. I could barely get through it with the knife. It was like chewing leather. The shower pressure is so low it's impossible to get clean. Breakfast only at 8am during the week meant I couldn't have breakfast before heading out to work. When I left there were charges on my room. I asked what for, they didn't know and I was made to wait for "a glitchy computer". This made me late for work. I was then told the charges were from the restaurant on the Monday. That day I arrived late and went straight to my room. The charges were either not mine or it was a deliberate attempt to rip me off.

1 year ago we loved it here but it's gone downhill so much. Food was mediocre. Had to get ourselves drinks at the bar despite being there for 4 hours. Late service, and when it did arrive it was wrong...things added to the bill that we didn't have. Such a disappointing experience, it's safe to say we will NOT be rushing back here any time soon.

My wife and I were staying the night there and, despite having had a large lunch, decided we would have something to eat. We shared a portion of moule frites and they were amongst the best mussels I have ever eaten, cooked to perfection.

Came here for a wedding 2 weeks ago and had the bruschetta starter, stuffed aubergine main, and winter berry crumble dessert. The bruschetta was a thin slice of toast and I was quite unimpressed. The aubergine main was lovely but I feel it needed something extra, maybe chips or small roast potatoes on the side to bulk it up. The dessert was lovely. We had to wait ages between courses, so long that we went from being full to being hungry again before the next course came. Very helpful and friendly staff though.

Stayed 2 nights in the floating cabins. They are fantastic spaces with very comfy beds and surprisingly spacious bathrooms. Great big screen tv too. Every very modern comfort in a small space. Also ate on both nights at The Deck restaurant which was also very good. Amelia was a wonderful host and wait person and very helpful. Highly recommend the accommodation and restaurant.

Booked a floating room for 1 night for my husband's birthday and we were not disappointed. Excellent welcome from the dude in the restaurant with the beard. Didn't get his name. Good explanation of health and safety.. showed us to our room, however when we got there the electrics weren't working. He went to check what the issue was however he moved us to Room 1 straight away. A fantastic experience staying on a unique floating room. Bedding and facilities immaculately clean and fresh. Lovely simple touches to make our evening relaxed. Comfy bed, loved the huge TV, WiFi excellent and so peaceful. Great espresso First thing in the room. Definitely recommend. Will be back again. We live in Cardiff, so was a great escape from city life and not far away from home. Nice one Deck

The floating rooms on the harbour are incredible, me and my wife only stayed 1 nights but we didnt want to leave. The staff are amazing and couldnot do enough for you. The food in the restaurant was amazing also, will definitely be back

Had lunch here today for the first time. I was a little apprehensive after reading the negative reviews, but our experience was great! We were greeted straight away by a male member of staff-Mark?who seated us by the window and left us with menus. Came back promptly to take drinks order before taking our food order. The food was lovely, beautifully presented and tasted great. Just the right amount of waiting between courses too. Couldn't fault anything! Friendly, polite attentive staff, lovely place, fabulous food. Will definitely be back.

The deck is a really great place to go and with stunning views of the Harbour, a great looking bar space and ample parking it's always nice. The staff were brilliant, our waitress in particular really tried to go out of her way to make sure we were happy. However.... the restaurant needs to update vegan availability. With only 1 main course (maybe 2) for vegans and it being pasta, we were really disappointed especially as my mum who was was celebrating her birthday (being the vegan) chose this place. When the dish arrived it looked dry, small portion and pretty much just pasta in some sort of sauce with cherry tomatoes. I'm fairness my heart goes out to the waitress who wasn't even able to offer another dish, so my mum ended up sitting their with no main meal and no options. ... on her birthday. Very sad. You would have thought in this age vegans would have more than just 1 or 2 choices. Well done to the waiters, chef? Management? Time to make a plan.

Decided to give The Deck another go as had not been here since the re-fit. We took family for breakfast, it was very quiet with just 3 other tables. They got two of four food orders wrong and did not want to correct them. Food was just average, service was not great. They ignored the tables and we had to go up to the bar to ask to pay the bill.

Mussels were really good. Perfectly cooked.

Staff forgetful swearing in kitchen slow service and it wasn't busy.
