Cheap sausage, tomatoes watery,spam disgusting bread is too thick ,I only came to eat here for a change go back to Maggie's best breakfast ever

how do i start this review. To start off with me and my children ordered bacon and sausage sandwiches the bacon was undercooked and the sausages were basically raw!!! aswell as this in one of the sandwiches i found a long red hair which has obviously come from not wearing hair nets. the service was shocking!! the cashier doesn’t know how to put a smile on his face and was extremely abrupt which came off extremely hostile and rude. i will not be returning the entire trip was unsettling and after so many good reviews i had extremely high hopes. disappointed to say the least.

Very expensive, slow service with below average food. Used to be very good, shame its gone down hill, regular custom lost

If I could give a zero I would! My lord this place is disgusting Cold beans 1 sausage 1 bacon £4.50 The sausage was smaller than a average size man! Doesn’t look like covid is in this place No mask no hand sanitizer And tables that don’t look like they have seen a clean

The first couple of times we went for breakfast we really enjoyed our meal, service and drinks but the last couple of times the meals have been less than quality and today my sandwich was missing the spam from the bacon, sausage and spam butty. The coffee also is usually ground Americano quality but today was average nescafe flavour. I think thats why there are a few mixed reviews. If you get lucky you'll really enjoy the experience but on a bad day you won't and usually two bad experiences for me is enough. Shame really cause its the best sit in cafe in the vicinity really.

love having our breakfast here. You can pick and mix your items so you get just what you want when your a fussy eater like me

Had called in for a breakfast sandwich a couple of days prior to our visit and was impressed with the speed, quality and value for money. I took a couple of colleagues there a couple of days later for a sit down breakfast and we were all really impressed with the service and quality of the food. We will definitely be returning in the near future

Popped in whilst my car was been mot'd nearby. I ordered a sausage ssndwich and a cappuccino . Both were well presented but no where near hot enough!

Yes you can build your own breakfast but at 90p per item it's expensive when you literally get one rasher of bacon, one sausage etc... Lot getter quality out there at a lower price. Disappointed.

Me and my boyfriend went for afternoon tea, we booked and paid a deposit. Everything was set out for us when we got there and staff couldn't be more helpful. it was lovely and i would go again.

Every time we come here the food is hot, fresh and delicious. The breakfasts are good because you can build your own, so avoids any waste. We have never had a bad meal at the Davy lamp 😊

I only purchased a flat white so my review is purley based on this. It was the worst flat white I've ever tasted, the coffee tasted weak and watered down and hardly any milk was used. The price was slightly higher compared to other local cafes aswell. I went in as I was thinking of having afternoon tea and didn't know what the quality was like. Unfortunately I decided if they couldn't get a simple flat white right then I wasn't going to risk it.

Visited the Davy Lamp for the 2nd time today for lunch with my mum & cousin. It's a nice cafe within walking distance of my mums house,we really enjoyed the food & coffee, haven't tried the cakes yet as we were full afterwards but they look lovely. We'll definitely be visiting again & may have to have coffee & cake next time. The interior is quirky but has a lovely feel to it, hard to imagine you're sat inside the old pit baths building 😊

If I sit in and eat a bacon and double egg sandwich it’s usually the best I ever have had, I like my bacon just done and my egg yolk as runny as you can get it without having a sloppy egg white and it is usually always perfect - but when i order when I’m at work the quality drops drastically the yolk was like soft chalk and the bread was so thick and stole the flavour I ate it on one side if bread and threw the bun top in the bin. It was still good but I am really fussy and the yolk must always be runny, crispy bacon I can forgive because bacon. I recommend this place to eat in, 5*, but not for ordering out when ordering with other people. Go in and get in freshly cooked.

I can't remember why I'd left home without having breakfast but just as I was feeling peckish I passed the Davy Lamp (I didn't even know it existed before this trip) so popped in for a breakfast sandwich.

Fantastic place for good food and decent portions at very reasonable prices, highly recommend it.food for every taste plus try the 12 item breakfast.

Came to visit Davy lamp after finished at Barnsley Gymnastics this cafe is really food do lots of different foods drinks. Kind helpful staff would highly recommend

We have breakfast at the Davy Lamp regularly and it is always well cooked and nicely served by the friendly staff there. Good value and because you can choose your items separately you do not end up with food you don't want. One of our favourite places.

Looked good fron the outside, inside looked clean and nice bit food was pretty poor. I ordered brown toast and got white bread. Me and my partner both ordered poached eggs and they came snotty and uncooked. Wont be returning.

Stopped here to meet some customers and had some breakfast. Food was really nice and was good value. Will be calling again

Paramos para tomar un bocado rápido cuando pasando a la hora de la comida. . . No me puedo quejar de la comida o el servicio. Descanso agradable y charlar con el dueño, que bien viajado, dio en el clavo durante un largo día, pensé que era buena relación calidad-precio comparado con de donde soy yo en el sur de Gales.

Llamado en el otro día para un desayuno que cuesta 7 libras. 00 sin bebida jaja como una broma. Yo pagaría eso si la comida era buena pero no era apto para el perro, es un buen trabajo porque el tocino casi acabaron en mi plato fue poco hecha. Todas las mesas son terminaciones rústicas y encontré en mi mesa es lo que sólo puedo describir como un pelo púbico. El propietario es muy grosero, mi amigo llamé y pedí una taza de té, dijo es que todas sus ordene. Eso estaba muy bien, pero podrías esperar que alguien con los dedos amarillos de nicotina y sí, todo el personal de humo y manejar la comida demasiado con los dedos. Puedes conseguir un desayuno en Woodys por menos de un fiver con una bebida y pan tostado. Sin duda no regresaré.

Me he alojado aquí unas cuantas veces con un grupo de motocicletas para un desayuno el sábado por la mañana.

Llamado para un desayuno para llevar, demasiado caro. £7. 50 para un desayuno grande con la bebida no incluida. Yo podría haber stomached el precio ha tenido la calidad merece la pena. Ingredientes parecía que estaban por encima de la media de calidad sólo para ser decepcionado por estar tan mal cocida, no comer más. No voy a volver.

Pulled up in the truck to an empty car park. Was told I could not park there by a rude bloke. Explained I needed a coffee and sandwich Was told they don't serve my kind.

Staff are really friendly and helpful food was gorgeous and the drinks were brill prices are brill and had a laugh with the staff brill with my kids as on is autistic and they understood

Spent the morning walking and stopped here for lunch. Very good coffee and breakfast. Freshly cooked and generous portions. Didn't have room for a slice of the lovely looking homemade cake so will have to make a return visit

We live round the corner from this little gem and since it opened, we have never been disappointed with the quality of food on offer. We have never eaten lunch there yet but have been in eating breakfast when other have been having the specials and they look lovely! The food is never greasy and all cutlery is super clean and hygienic (ignore the review that says it isn't). They even have a WC for customers which has disabled access too, which for an independent cafe I think is fab!They always have the day's newspaper which my other half reads and its just a lovely place to go first thing on a morning, get your fill of breakfast and start the day off right.The cafe is popular with young children too as thwy sell milkshakes called 'shmoo' that the kids can add their different toppings onto. One tip is its recently gotten quite busy between 10:30 and 11:30 as a group of footballers and kids from gymnastics tend to come in but I have been in at this time and have still gotten served quite quickly.You can even sit outside in the summer and enjoy a morning latte. I really do love this place as it feels like a little gem...in fact it's too good for anyone else, don't go! I don't want it to get too busy haha!Seriously, if you're looking for a great meal at great prices, with even a cold drink, hot drink or muffin/flapjack for afters, you can't beat The Davy Lamp!

Had several visits now to this cafe, nice place to stop off when going to Barnsley, Had full breakfast which was great, well presented . Burger stack well worth the price but my favorite is smothered chicken, huge chicken breast bacon and cheese with yummy non greasy chips.Two meals for a tenner,great value.. We have always had good service even when they were busy. Good to have usb sockets, nice " community" atmosphere with lots of regulars, getting to recognize them now ! Good coffee. Thinking of having our anniversary party here, private evening booking.

Food was not nice and plates and cutlery was dirty and staff need to start smiling more, not the best cafe I have been in probably the worst

Just a quick review to let you know that the price for your sandwiches is way too expensive.we are workmen that travel around a lot and use quality cafes all over Yorkshire.cafes/sandwich bars that are quality and reasonable priced get used again thank you!

Dropped in here on the off chance as we were in the Area and looking for somewhere for a cup of tea.Had a great lunch with great service.
