Having fully researched the area for our overnight stay to connecting flights this is my honest review: Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely softly spoken gentleman who showed us to our room and explained WiFi, separate bathroom facilities and check out procedures. We then had dinner in the establishment which was amazing, hot and fresh! Really please with our meal and the attentiveness of the staff! For the price this is a decent overnight stay for our flight. Highly recommended and will use again!

We stayed at Redhill house and walked up to the Darlington arms. We both had a meal winch was very. Several drinks. A nice place to stop

Stunning food. We had steak and chips. Sounds simple, but nope; this was the most delicious, gourmet plate of loveliness. Even the chips like a cross between wedges and crinkle cut and butterflies. And the steak, oh the steak. And the staff! Wonderful. I can’t wait to go back and try the Indian dishes.

Would advise any couple Looking for a relaxing romantic staycation in good hands! Staff are so great it was our anniversary they laid it on thick food was amazing we both had started calamari and prawns with 2 currys will be back!

My wife and I enjoyed fish and chips at The Darlington. Very good quality dish and I would highly recommend. The manager and chef are really friendly and resolve any minor issues immediately. All in all a very nice pub, good menu and value for money.

Whilst travelling to and from Bristol Airport on the 6th and 14th September, four of us had dinner two evenings at this lovely pub and were not disappointed. We were welcomed with warm smiles and food that was exceptional. On our first evening we had starters of mussels, calamari, halloumi fries and whitebait. Portion size was more of a main meal - no complains though - and was out of this world. For our mains we had three beer battered fish and chips plus one hand carved honey and mustard ham - again portion size and food was amazing. Sadly no room for a pudding though. We were so impressed that we decided to eat here again on our return from holiday. Our flight was delayed and we arrived just after their kitchens had closed. We explained our situation and without any hesitations, they very kindly took a choice of main meal and provided us with food as outstanding as our first evening. Such a shame this pub is no where near to where we live but without doubt we would highly recommend that you try this place. A big 'thank you' to the staff that were on both evenings and an even bigger 'thank you' to the chef. If we should ever fly from Bristol again - we will definitely eat here again.

Well what can I say, it has to be the worst place I've booked to stay needless to say I didnt stay I'd rather lose the money!! Both my mother and I booked 2 nights between flights, 1stly we were greated with being called "dear" 😡 then we were shown how to access the room, bearing in mind my mother's 74, we were shown through the dining area, through a 2nd kitchen then out back, where no attention to decoration had been taken, it was dirty and messy, then through another door, on the otherside of the door was the smallest, steepest set of stairs I've even seen, I appreciate this is an old building but seriously it was a struggle for me with an over night bag to climb the stairs, mother had no chance she literally had to go up on her hands and knees, there's no way you'd ever get a suitcase up the stairs, and tbh I'm not sure how the stairs passed the fire regs!! however the room was well decorated the en suite showroom was nice apart from the remains of toothpaste and spit left on the wall by the sink! The bed throw was a nice touch if it wasn't full of dirty marks and stains, that was it for us we left and found alternative accommodation.

Came across this place before flying out of Bristol (just beyond silver parking if driving). Guys offer a wide menu but their curries are fantastic wife is coeliac so has to eat gluten free no problem at all and she had a mild chicken curry. I had a brilliantly spiced lamb rogan josh which was huge couldn't finish it but so good. Restaurant very tasteful and spotless well done.

Don't order the vegetable curry; this is a pack of frozen veg in a Curry sauce. Naan breads and starters are just bought in and not cooked fresh. Our main meals were bought to us whilst we were eating out starters. They tried to tidy around us whilst some of us were still eating. The kasmiri Curry was tasty and chicken dishes had succulent chicken. On balance though, it is not somewhere I would visit again.

Excellent overnight stay before our holiday. Booked 2 rooms as we were going away with friends. Both rooms spotless, well equipped with everything you need and plenty of tea and coffee. We had dinner there and food food was lovely, plenty of choice including steaks, salads, pastas and a range of home made curries - nice bar with reasonable prices - will definitely book again. Excellent food and speedy service. Food was a solid 10 for me and my girlfriend gave a 9. Thrilled that there was somewhere so close to where we were staying especially since it was by complete accident that we were staying here at all service could have been a little friendlier however nothing I would drop a star for. Friendly enough and the greeting and goodbye were great just wish there was a little more small talk.

We visited last Saturday evening,I had a chicken curry,the wife had a steak and also 3 other meals for the kids,excellent food and hosts,not sure who the chef was but it was all done and presented to perfection Thankyou all

Visited here twice last week on departure and return of our holiday from Bristol airport. We stayed at the hotel opposite and were very impressed with the food. Nice selection and very tasty. Good portion sizes and well worth the price. We loved the chicken skewers (sauce was amazing( and the burgers - the best chips I've ever had! WIll return when we have an airport stop over next.

A really nice surprise of a pub. Fantastic welcome as we were staying the night and incredibly polite and professional staff. Menu was fantastic drawing from many classic styles and quality put most main stream pubs to shame. Only draw back was the vile racist stood at the bar clutching his half drunken bottle of wine complaining about everything possible (in order to refuse to pay the bill ) despite demanding to take the remaining wine. A man so much of a embarrassment to the human race that he told the delightful guy behind the bar that his accent meant he “didn’t understand English “ gladly he left to applause from all the grown up polite members of society that witnessed his hissy fit ! You know who you were !

Went for an evening meal before flight from airport, a couple of miles down the road. Fairly typical pub menu with Asian twist. First choice item not available when we visited. However food arrived quickly, well cooked and large portions. Background music a bit loud for our taste. Appeared to be predominantly a restaurant rather than pub. Nice welcome from friendly and attentive staff.

The menu is awful. Nothing offering locally sourced produce or multi cuisine as the advert banner outside the premises claims. There are only around 5 main meals to choose from and my friend and I were told two of those weren’t available that evening. The menu itself can be likened to a takeaway flyer. Really disappointed and won’t be going back.

The Darlington was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed the night on our way to the airport and had an evening meal - not always easy on a Sunday. The food was good, an English-Indian fusion, I wish I could have stayed longer to try some of the dishes available. Our room was fine although the bathroom was separated by a corridor it was exclusively ours. It was rather warm and we are not used to traffic noise so we had to keep the window closed, the staff had however thoughtfully provided a fan, but we did not get the best night's sleep, hence the 4 and not a 5.

Great food, even though the staff were over busy as an unexpected influx of customers, the staff were friendly and efficient, there was no wait on food, would definitely recommend and will also come again.

We popped in for a quick meal on the way to the airport and they kindly opened the kitchen for us as we were there out of service hours. Really friendly service, best chips I’ve had in a long time and beautiful handmade onions rings. The place was spotless and newly decorated.

Stayed at ‘The Darlington’ this weekend with a group of friends. Penny was absolutely lovely. She was so accommodation to us even though her chef ended up walking out the day we arrived.

We enjoyed some great food, we requested the catch of the day served differently to what was advertised, no issue whatsoever and the haddock was divine! Friendly banter from Penny, Izzy and Hayley made the night! Dont drive by, stop and enjoy !!

Had dinner here with a group of about 8 people. Menu was great, good value. Very nice sharing plates and mains. Decent wine and an excellent host in Lewis who looked after us, despite the fact we were a loud bunch! Recommended.

My girlfriend and I stayed here as it it very close to Bristol airport. We booked it as the rooms looked very clean & modern. On arrival we were greeted by a very polite member of staff. He asked if we would be having breakfast. We had a 6am flight so would have missed breakfast. So instead he made us a packed breakfast and left it outside our bedroom door which we thought was a nice touch. The room was the perfect size. The shower was great. If I had to pick something I didn’t like it would be that the heating was on fully blast in the bathroom all night which meant the room was roasting hot and where our room was facing the road it was to loud to have the window open! We would 100% stay here again! Very impressed!

Decided to stay with an early flight tomorrow. Fab hotel fab food and also great staff. Just a short drive to the airport but far better than anything closer.

We have just stopped on route to Bristol airport for lunch. The food and service provided by Penny was fantastic. We were made to feel at home even though this was our first visit and we will definitely be back again. We would recommend the mushroom soup and roast dinner. The pork crackling was one of the best we have ever tasted! Thank you for such a warm welcome and amazing food!

We just stayed one night as we we needed to be in Bristol early for a funeral. We were made welcome Meals and breakfast explained to us and shown to our room which was clean and well decorated. We had a lovely evening meal if we had room the. Deserts looked delicious but we were too full

We rang The Darlington for last minute booking for a group of 20 for lunch and Penny was very helpful on the phone. Due to an awful accident on the road outside she warned us that it was difficult to get to them but if we could get there then they could give us lunch.

We had dinner at this clean, well appointed pub on the recommendation of our B&B; hosts. We opted for the 2 course Sunday roast dinner (2 courses for £16.95) - we both chose roast beef which came with Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes, plenty of vegetables and delicious roast beef gravy. It was excellent and the desserts we chose - brownie and sticky toffee pudding were fantastic! The service was friendly and the prices were reasonable. This is a great option if you are near Bristol Airport and need something to eat.

Just 2 minutes drive from the Holiday Inn Hotel, allowed us to kick start our holiday the night before we flew out of Bristol Airport. Good friendly, local gastro pub with a wide selection of good food. Next time we stay in the area prior to flying from Bristol Airport, would look to dine out again at the Darlington

We were looking for somewhere to stop before the airport and luckily went a little past the airport and found this gem.

We nipped in for a meal as we were staying nearby. We had booked earlier in the day and seeing how busy it was I would recommend booking if you require a table in the restaurant area. Lovely pub, food and staff. A perfect spot if you want to chill out before heading off on your hols.

This pub is a great find and very easy to get to. I needed somewhere for lunch in between dropping off a friend and picking up my son at Bristol Airport. I enjoyed a lovely sandwich that I was delighted to discover, was served with chips and salad. It was just the job and so much nicer than the catering available at the airport. The pub is lovely and warm and cosy with a log fire and friendly staff. I also enjoyed a great pot of tea and was made to feel most welcome. It would be easy to over look this place, as it is just beside a main road, but appearances are deceptive, it is lovely inside and the staff could not have been more helpful.

Stayed here on business. The staff were extremely friendly and polite. The room was well presented and the bed was perfect for a good night sleep. The dinner was again very good, along with the service.

Called in early on a Thursday evening for dinner.Ordered steaks which arrived at the table different to what we ordered.we were not offered a replacement for the wrong steak. Stayed here for 1 night when attending a wedding local to the area. Very pleasant indeed, staff were very welcoming and the rooms are kept to a very high standard. Defo go back again.

Recently refurbished and under new management the place has bags of potential but the food isn’t up to scratch.

Staying overnight close by as flying from Bristol the next day, I popped my head in to see if we could get food and be allowed the young one (6 years).... both answered yes so in we went. Staff polite, place clean and good selection on menu and bar. If anything the decor needed a bit of softening and lights dimming- very bright and white with striped wooden floors. Toilets nice, bar area would have been better with wood burner lit but that’s me being picky.

We chose the Darlington to stay as out flight was the following day, from the moment we stepped through the door we felt very welcome, penny was lovely. The whole place is beautiful and immaculate and clean, our room was very welcoming however way too hot so not much sleep. Our food was very tasty and there's a variety to choose from, could of done being hotter. Overall a great place, would stay again.

We looked up the menu on line prior to visit as i require gluten free and this showed a good menu for my special needs. However on arrival, the menu was different to that on line and was very restrictive for my dietary needs. Although not busy, service was very slow.

As a regular user of hotels and restaurants countrywide I get used to mundane food in the majority of establishments. I visited The Darlington Arms and was welcomed with the biggest smile as I walked in, it was Penny. Within minutes I was sat at my table with a drink. My food was served promptly and was delicious. The fish and chips was to die for and I saw other food being served and it all looked of the highest quality. I highly recommend a visit..

Arriving on an early flight, this is the first place we found. Ordered an English breakfast, very tasty and filling, just what was needed. Friendly service, clean bathrooms. What more do you want?

This was my second visit in the space of a few weeks (sorry forgot to review after the first visit) The standard was the same as the first visit very welcoming.Turned up just after they opened at midday did not book ! (take that as a warning as the phone was going off quite a few times as people were booking) and as we ate some were told of a bit of a wait for a free table....So you know it is pretty good already....Today they had a choice of 4 roasts....Also i think they have a full menu (need to check for sure) Inside is very fresh feel to the place and is well layed out ,with plenty of room...Anyway the food was great and good size helpings and at a fare price...Last time I had Turkey roast this time I had Pork both of these were a good thickness,not a thin cut by any standard ! The veg with both meals was cooked to perfection in my eyes...(not over cooked) Also a word on the gravy thick and very tasty,

We were here for a quick supper on Thursday night, but being presented with a completely NEW MENU and some old faces back on the team, (we eat here regularly) we went for broke and had 3 courses.

Having recently moved to the area we booked The Darlington for a family lunch (5 people) on Sunday. Based on the decor our initial impression was very positive. It is clear the pub has recently been refurbished and thought has clearly gone in to creating the impression of a swanky gastro pub.

We popped here after reading reviews on tripadvisor glad we did. We went on a Saturday afternoon so was not overly busy. The food was gorgeous really enjoyed it and my partner did also. Def would recommend the ham hock, egg and chips was delicious. Staff was very helpful providing our 4 year old daughter with colouring. Will def return here. They also have a good kids menu

We visited the Darlington Arms for a Celebration breakfast. The service was excellent. Unfortunately, we did have some wait for our food. The food was fantastic once we were served. It had been freshly prepared and with fresh local Produce. I would recommend anyone to visit.

I stayed here for three nights. Our room The Loft was lovely, spacious, good bed, and thoughtfully a room fan was provided . We would have baked without it as the traffic noise means having skylights closed on the roadside of the hotel.

This is a clean,friendly,quality accommodation/ restaurant with a few problems at the moment.

We came across this gastro pub/restaurant on the A38 a few miles beyond the turning to Bristol Airport, as we were driving to the airport from Bristol and had two hours to spare.

Came here Tuesday evening with a work colleague - beer and larger were good - we were given 2 menu's made our choices and then went on to order food and that's where the problems started - orders taken but the waiter returned as there was no lasagne - so changes were made to ploughman's lunches with 4 options - beef, brie, cheddar and stilton (you could choose 2), made our choices only for the waiter to come back and say 2 of the 4 options were no longer available, so our choices were changed, the waiter then came back again and said we'd been given the wrong menu and they couldn't prepare ploughmans lunches! We'd had enough and left.

We stopped over at Hillcroft Accommodation before our early morning flight and walked down the road to this little pub for a bite to eat. We sat out in the garden and ate one of the best burgers I’ve ever tasted. I thought when looking at the menu it was slightly pricey for a burger and chips but it was well worth it. Very happy with the meal and service. Really nice place to visit

It was a load of SH*T. What happened to this place? The food is awful now days. Has their been a change of management because my god the food was SH*T.

Staff were lovely and attentive, the layout of the restaurant is exquisite a very charming place. Unexpected find! However, I ordered the Chicken supreme and to my surprise it was raw in the middle. Considering the chicken it self was cut in half I do not see how the chef was so oblivious to this. The waitress was very apologetic and got it sorted right away. If it wasn't for the amazing staff at the front off this establishment i would have rated it 0/5 if I were able to that is, but unfortunately due to being served raw chicken I feel the chef has let their fellow team down. Which is truly such a shame.

Hadn't realised it was important to book on a Saturday evening. Busy but not packed out, just right. We were given a table and service was very good. Chicken supreme was lovely was expecting a white sauce rather than gravy. Fish and chips big portion . Dessert rhubarb and plum posset was excellent.. I asked about spices due to allergies and waitress checked with kitchen for me. Local cider and ale avaiable, and now know they have rooms, so will be staying there instead of the over priced and poor valued holiday inn just down the road.

I do not normally write reviews but felt compelled to do so on this occasion. We found the Darlington by chance when trying to find somewhere to stay near a party we were attending. I can only say it is one of the nicest places we have stayed. The rooms were beautifully decorated, the staff were attentive and the food was lovely. We will now be looking for an excuse to visit again...thank you

Wanted to find somewhere to eat close to airport so checked trip advisor for nearby places and this came up. I’ve passed this pub a thousand times and never given it a glance - but, what a revelation!! Do not be put off by the exterior (as I have been in the past). What a charming, lovely clean bright modern interior with a really warm and friendly welcome from the staff !!! The menu was fantastic and myself and colleague had the “todays special” of a ploughman’s - it is by far THE best and biggest ploughman’s I have ever had!!! I want to try more of their menu, so I absolutely will be back to try more with friends and family . Superb place to eat and drink, and if their rooms are anything like their food, I imagine they are also fab. Just goes to show - never judge a book by its cover !

We had a meal here whilst we stayed nearby before flying out of Bristol. What a find!!! We then decided to stop again on the way back and have a roast and met some friends. We all enjoyed our meal and again excellent service. We will see you again next time we are off somewhere. Thanks guys

Stayed at nearby hotel for night before flight & came here for eve meal. Good choice on menu & food was delicious. Very pleasant decor & music not too loud. Would definitely recommend.

I was among a group of walkers who had lunch in the pub yesterday and both the food and the surroundings were excellent. Inside, the bar is light, warm and welcoming. The fish goujons and chips were beautifully crisp and tasty and the puddings just what was needed after a rather damp walk. At two courses for £10 very good value.

Modern take on an old English pub. The lovely wood burner makes it very cosy too. Popped in for a coffee due to the snow outside. Ale is well kept. Returned for dinner - the gurnard with bean stew starter was exquisite! Pork belly delicious & the fish and chips with samphire tartare sauce superb. Wine list is good value and the Merlot at £14.40 was good. Hope to return to try the desserts!

Called in for dinner while staying in a B and B close by before a wedding. Both of us ordered goats cheese starter and fish and chips. Starter was completely cold when cut - no nice hot goats cheese. Told the waiter it was “frozen” inside and he took them away. Manager, Andre came over and rather aggressively told us it wasn’t frozen they don’t serve frozen food - no apology! Then the fish and chips turned up and clearly we weren’t getting a starter. Fish was delicious but the bill when it came 30 mins after being requested still had the starter on it. We told them we weren’t paying for a starter we didn’t t have, one was then taken off - I had to leave at that point as I would have lost my temper. Eventually, the cost of the second starter was removed but still no apology from Andre or even any sight of him! He left his very charming young waiting staff to deal with it. Not acceptable. All could have been handled so differently, we all make mistakes but not to acknowledge them is inexcusable particularly in hospitality. Unlikely to be here again but certainly wouldn’t recommend it. It’s not difficult to cook ready prepared goats cheese after all!

Stopped on the way to Bristol Airport, beautiful food and clean. The steak and Stilton pie was outstanding and the home made chips were to die for. My 5 year old daughter had the children’s fish and chips and nothing was left on her plate, which never happens. Highly recommended and will definitely be back!!

We had a chicken dish and a steak pie. The chicken with a fancy name was juicy, but basically just chicken...no special flavour. My husband thought the steak pie was excellent. The mushroom soup, made in house, was excellent as were all the vegetables served with the meal. The brown bread, which is apparently baked locally, was excellent.

on way to bristol airport stopped here for a break. no journey prep it just happened to be near enough to the airport to time our arrival. unfortunately kitchen was closed between lunch/dinner service. they rustled up a VERY good sandwich, a lovely pint, and good tips to save money on picking up from terminal.

The outside of this pub on a major and very fast road, would not encourage you to stop, but you should! the interior is very stylish -and they are dog friendly! But it is the food that is the best element! the chips (home made) are the best I have had, and the mussels were as stated, ''the best''. the Darlington burger was also delicious. The pub is near to the airport and would be a good stop off. we live near Burnham, but will go again.(They have rooms as well)

A traditional pub handily located just a mile or two from Bristol Airport, we called in on spec one lunchtime. Perhaps surprisingly given their location, lunch service stops at 3:00; I would have thought given their location they could easily sustain all day trade.

My wife and I were stranded at Bristol airport after our flight was postponed 24 hrs. Found a very nice room, polite and welcoming service, good evening meal and excellent breakfast. Would visit again when using Bristol or Bristol airport. Thanks for the short notice hospitality.
