The Dairyman in Brentwood

Food always good here, tables get full quick so sometimes have to have a hunt round or a little wait. Staff are friendly and food is always freshly cooked. Love the app as it easy to order and you don't have to leave your table. The pub itself is a little dark because of the dark décor.

Just another spoons. Food mediocre, not alway hot, not always well cooked. Rough environment. Personally I have nicer food at home. The attitude there seems to be 'if you don't like it then send it back'. Cheap and cheerful. I won't go back.

I had breakfast with my husband, my husband got the full English breakfast & I got Eggs Benedict. I must say it was extremely hot and very nice. Coffee’s are very good aswell.

We both opted for the traditional English breakfast today with coffee - refillable- unbelievably good value for money at £6 each it really is , service was quick as we were there just after 8am as it opened -plenty of tables as this place can get very busy

Staff were sitting and when I asked for a drink she just looked at me in disgust and looked away and just ignored me, the worst bar staff in the history of the UK, they are so bad I just cannot stop laughing, you have to visit this place to experience this it’s absolutely brilliant how crap the service is

We had a drink here whilst in the High street in Brentwood. The drinks are a good price, there is plenty of seating and booths. We had a bowl of chips with curry sauce and they were not good to be honest. I would pop back but maybe try an actual meal

Been here many times but the food has deteriorated. Luck of the draw who's cooking on a particular day. Toast undercooked. Bacon and hash brown tasted like it had been cooked in burger fat. Eggs usually over done. When the food is cooked the cook puts the plates on a heat cabinet. The staff are so slow to pick up the food and take it to the waiting customer that the eggs are usually nuked. If you complain they take it back and after a 20 minute wait you get back food cooked the same.

Visited on a Monday evening. Plenty of staff but tables were not cleared of empty plates or glasses. Not too difficult to ensure staff do clear tables and wipe them down after use. Steak fine but Lasagne could have been hotter. Maybe ondite management need to be reminded of their important role.

We visited here last weekend on a Saturday evening and found it nice and spacious with everyone sitting around tables,bar service was quick and friendly no time at all to wait and it was really clean in there unlike a few weather spoons I’ve visited,we didn’t eat there just a few drinks and will be returning in the not too distant future for sure

We are local to the pub and visit a lot... Always fast and friendly service, and the food always lovely and with it being a Wetherspoons Fantastic value for money... Breakfast is always very tasty and amazing value, the kids love a no frills visit Thanks five stars

Good choice of beer, typical Wetherspoon menu. Unfortunately nachos deteriorated recently (the corn crisps themselves, the fillings are great). Chicken wings are hit and miss as sometimes 10 wings will be too big and the other week they are tiny. You are expected to order using the app and the staff will bring it to you fairly fast or super fast - never had to wait long here. I will come again when my son is free on an evening. :)

A little disappointing. It was just below standard in all departments, cleanliness, service, meal quality, etc, and fell short of the happy experience I usually expect and receive in other Wetherspoon pubs.

Visited this morning with a granddaughter with the intention of enjoying a traditional English breakfast. A note at the bar said use the App to order, tried but there was a problem. So ordered in the traditional manner only to be told no eggs! We were offered a replacement with another item. Not ideal. Sadly when food arrived it was luke warm, staff didn't check whether we were happy with the food or offer sauces. It was not busy in the least. Frankly very poor customer service so we won't be going there for breakfast again. I had previously highlighted less than acceptable customer sevice to Head Office and things have not improved so maybe Head Office need to think carefully about customer service.

Worst customer service I have ever experienced in my entire life. Manager was even rude. They didn't give us a table and not even entertaining us even they already saw us. Talk about racism.

Overall a good experience and great value for money. We always enjoy their breakfasts and the Wetherspoon app is a very good way to order food and keep socially distanced. Felt comfortable and all social distancing measures in place.

Brentwood Wetherspoons is a disgrace. I know the food is cheap & cheerful. Loads of staff serving behind the bar, yet one staff member bringing the food to the table. She was also moaning for all to hear. Yet she seemed like she could not be bothered so slow. Our table was right by the kitchen, the cooks were doing a good job but the food plates were piling up waiting to be taken to the tables. Our food was sitting for ages under the lights keeping it warm. Was not impressed with my tuna cheese panini. Not been toasted properly didn’t taste great was average, with chips. It’s just that our food sat on the counter what seemed like forever. Don’t recommend going there, crap staff & not enough staff serving food. Sort your waitresses out.

Family visit my Wife had the steak which was cooked perfect and the rest of our food was great and the drinks we ordered at the bar.Efficient service all round and the staff quick to take our order.The middle aged woman with long black hair behind the bar was very friendly especially with my 17 year old Son she made a big deal over him which was unexpected.He liked the attention.

Went to this pub for an evening meal while in the area , ordered via the app, food was delivered after a short wait, steak was cooked to perfection and food was very good. Friendly efficient staff and a nice feel to the pub

If only the drinks arrived with your food and not after your food - Full up with morning alcoholics and old winos burping loudly while you are trying to eat.

Went there for late lunch at 3.30 ish. Only two staff on, waited 10 minutes to be served drinks. Tables not cleared, full of dirty plates and drinks. Went to order food, another 10 minute wait, when food finally arrived it was bacon instead of chicken cheesy chips. Didn’t complain as the queue at the bar was ridiculous. Needless to say, we will not be visiting this bar again. Disgustingly dirtying

I’ve written hundreds of reviews and this must be one of the worst places that I’ve seen for hygiene. If the Food Standards Agency saw what I saw, they would be looking to close this place down. I’m a big fan of the Wetherspoons chain when it works well, but the Dairyman does not come into this category. Within 5mins of getting a drink there was massive confrontation between 2 customers. An hour into my visit one of these gents was still in the pub becoming more argumentative, which staff totally ignored. It became apparent that this person appeared to be a regular. Following that this same person was seen to cleaning cutlery for the use of customers and was allowed to continue doing that in the presence of the staff. He continued doing this for a good 10 mins, quite unbelievable and totally disgusting. Enough said, avoid this pub at all costs

Popped in for breakfast with my parents and was shocked at how nice everything was! The bacon was some of the best I’ve ever had in a restaurant and the poached eggs were perfect with no snotty bits.

No chips! Limp salad. Dry jacket potatoes . Not the best Wetherspoons I’ve been too. Disappointed afternoon trip with four of my children.

Should be no stars! Appalling breakfast 10.15 am, Friday 23rd August 2019. Traditional breakfast stone cold and burnt toast. Left entire breakfast. Uninterested staff so couldn't make a complaint. Much better Wetherspoons elsewhere. Please don't waste your money here. No refund.

Before I start, the Ale here is always very good....when they have it in stock. When everything any modern day establishment gets sold it registers on a computer so that re-ordering is made simple and efficient. Real Ales and keg gas should never run out as what was witnessed this weekend. This is not a Pub in the true essence of the word and we must remember that. This, however should not excuse the very poor and rude service. The Bar Staff seem to be very busy talking in huddles at one end of the bar and on occasions totally ignoring customers waiting to be served. The majority DO NOT served in order. The cleanest part of the establishment is the top end of the bar where very little activity takes place ( I wonder why) The filthy dirty surfaces covered with food and drink from the previous incumbent is a real disgrace and just shows how lazy the staff are. Take a look at some of the other reviews.......NOT GOOD. I love the idea of Witherspoon but this place is pretty grim.

Having enjoyed a neighbouring Wetherspoon's pub we thought we would try this, but it was awful. The room was dark and uninviting with unattractive tables and stools and side booths. Our table was not clean and stained menus were just scattered on the table. Service at the bar was OK but when the food came it was just plonked down in front of us and knives and forks were just placed in a pile on the table, and not in serviettes. Some of the food was OK, though not particularly appetising and the small fish was a minute slither covered in batter. Despite the cheap prices and the unlimited drinks refills we shall not be going there again.

I went in with my husband last weekend and we asked to see the Manager due to a mix up with our order. The so called Manager came over with her hands on her hips and said "yes" in a stroppy manner, well this is not the correct manner to speak to customers.

This has to be the dirtiest pub that we've ever been in to. The table we sat at was covered in plates, food waste and empty glasses and the four of us asked six different members of staff to clear our table and all said they would but they didn't. After 25mins and one round of drinks we left and ate elsewhere. To be honest the booth that we sat in stunk of urine and the entire pubs stinks of food waste with all the surfaces filthy. Honestly if we could give this a minus score we would. We wouldn't eat there if the state of the pub is any indicator of what the kitchens are like. The staff are belligerent, ignorant and worthy of zero hour contracts and their customers' and no doubt their employer's utter contempt. This has to be the worst Wetherspoons in the South East and we've all been to loads.

Passing through Brentwood we decided to stop off at The Dairyman for lunch and a beer.

The beers are pretty good although a preponderance of high strength beers rather than session ales, not tried the food but it looks appetising. Slightly sterile environment.

I was with a friend in Brentwood and we wanted to have a quick drink somewhere. I always choose Wetherspoons if possible and was pleased to find one on the High Street. Unfortunately, the drink was not as quick as expected as I felt the service was the worst I've ever experienced in Wetherspoons. I waited and waited at the bar and when I was eventually served the person serving me seemed to be very resentful about it. Meanwhile, a young couple waiting next to me at the bar had given up and left. On the positive side, the beer was very good and the usual Wetherspoons value.

We met our Son and his family for a drink and brunch on Easter Monday lunchtime. It wasn't too busy and we found a table near the window.

We had breakfast here on Sunday, and really enjoyed the chance to have a bit of a catch up together and have the cooking done for us. The food was very good, and arrived promptly despite the fact that the pub was very busy. The staff were friendly and efficient.

I went to this pub for a drink, there was a good selection of real ales at reasonable prices. Recommended.

Our experience over the past few weeks(and that of friends on other occasions) has been a catalogue of " no chilli sauce " "no Halloumi cheese" "no nachos" , no steak , no pizza , almost everything we have ordered in the past few months has been unavailable at some time. I would not mind if it was an occasional blip but someone needs to shake things up here . What a pity that a pub we have been so fond of keeps letting us down so much. We feel sorry for the staff having to constantly make excuses .

Very average food. Not the best Weatherspoons I have been to. Great decor inside. Very spacious, but the food can be better.

Popped in because we had never been in this Wetherspoons (and we are trying to tick off as many as we can). Good things. Quick service, good value drinks (as ever). Not so good things. Layout of the tables and chairs in the middle of the pub make it very difficult to actually get to the bar (having got our drinks, we had to walk all the way to the top of the pub to make it back down to where we were sitting close to the front door). Glasses not cleared away and sticky surfaces. Didn't fancy eating there. People constantly holding the doors open without actually coming in or going out.

3 meals including 3 alcoholic drinks with sides for under £24 inc tip speaks for itself. You mIght think quality may suffer but you would be wrong. Fast friendly service. Can not fault this great pub in any way. Back again very soon because I can afford it.

Brentwood Wetherspoon’s what a disgrace !!

On recent visits we have experienced : no fish available for fish & chips , untrained new staff being thrown in at the deep end meaning we were served by a person who did not understand the till system and no one working alongside them (numerous occasions).

I came in on Sunday for a nice drink with the wife. But rude stuff made my night hell. Cheap drinks does not mean poor stuff. The guy with the ponytail was rude and did not care about his job. If I was in charge I would fire him in a second. Will never come back as he was so bad it has put me off for life

Was in Brentwood at lunchtime and decided to try the Dairyman.

Finally a wetherspoon that actually do pizza it's a big win and you can also get pizza garlic bread too can't argue with that .

Went here last Friday on a girls trip to pre drink before sugar hut, Ordered some cheesy chips to be brought out halloumi fries and then was told they wouldn't change them after carrying them around to find out if they could be changed, Poor service for a weatehrspoons and we love a spoons!

Like other Wetherspoons pubs this is pretty average but very cheap. Bottomless coffee not bad and great value. As to ambiance and quality this is on the low side but you cannot get away as to how cheap this place is.

16 of us arrived for an evening meal. The manager & staff were very friendly & attentive finding us seats together. Food & drink just what we needed after a day’s sightseeing.

It is what it is, really,at the end of the day, when you get food cheap, as especially when, you also get a drink, thrown in, for really no money, then you have to expect, poor quality, to be fair a double spirit, with a free mixer is good value, and also other drinks, including beers, but paninis, etc are okay, but I wouldn't order steaks, my husband did, it was a disaster, really fatty, tough, you just couldn't eat it, it was on the mixed grill, so really you get what you pay for, so don't have your expectations, set too high, and you might be in for a treat, also the staff could be a little bit better, in the way they clear tables, not really a highly skilled job, just a necessity, so really they need to be a bit quicker,it's not nice arriving to find every empty table littered with dirty crockery

8 guys out for a spot of lunch , the menu was typical pub grub plenty of it but a a bit bland very good lunchtime deal made it a cheap outing but not for that special lunch

Having recently visited this establishment again I would have hoped that the customer service and senior staff had buck their ideas up and become a work force to be envious of. How wrong can one be. 15 customers waiting to be served, two bar staff working the bar with senior managers wandering around the out-floor trying to look busy. Filthy dirty tables with glasses and food debris everywhere. This was on a Monday early evening. Why do yo not employ more staff......or staff that want to work and for the lords sack, staff with some passion and character. When I eventually got served the senior staff barman just simply looked at me without saying a word. No, what can i get you or what is your pleasure.......any communication would be a nice gesture ! The Real Ale at this establishment is always superb and very well kept but the service is garbage.

Went in the dairy man for Sunday morning breakfast,,,,, as usual the tables were unclean Plants and cups and scraps of food all over table ,,,, staff was lazy,,,, Took ages for them to the clean up...and then our breakfast was totally disgusting... I know it’s cheap but I expect some sense of good service and good food .... never coming back.....total pig food

Ate in here before seeing my son in a show at the Brentwood Theatre. It is hardly fine dining but for the price you really can't complain. One item missed off the order but corrected even if it did come a bit late. No draught beers as apparently a problem in the cellar. There are better places to eat but not at the same price!

I like Wetherspoons - especially those that use the app. Quick pint and some chicken strips that were delivered to my booth as quick as can be. Dead cheap as one would expect - recommended.

I visited here on a Monday morning for a quick coffee before work. I quickly got asked to move tables as they were reserved for 'paying' customers, which I was I just didn't wish to eat.

Came here as part of a pub crawl for my last day of school and was far from impressed. Although most of the staff were lovely, found a couple rude and discriminative. We were actually told to ‘stop taking the piss’ which I found to be outrageous and utterly inappropriate. Feel as though we were patronised and treated differently despite the fact that we were polite and respectful were all 18 and above. Found this a shame given that I have been many times before and enjoyed myself, shan’t be returning.

Have been to many Wetherspoons in various places around the UK, but this must take the prize for being the worst ! Rude staff, overloaded tables and filthy floors. Dreadful place, will not go to this one again...

Had the large breakfast and it was really good, nice nice and good price. It opened at 8am which was handy. Service was quick and plenty of room.

The selection and standard of the Beers are very good but the manageress is rude and lazy which reflects on the other staff serving drinks. Most of the staff are rude and lazy with an exception of two or three. It is grubby with food deposits on the tables and floor. This establishment needs a real shake up as the management really don't care about the customers. This is NOT a pub but a high street shop that sells alcohol and grub.

Re-heated food that is half cooked plus the disgustingly rude management staff reminds me almost hourly to why you should stay far away from this "restaurant"

While working near Brentwood I popped in here twice for evening meals.

Located around a 15 minute walk from Brentwood station on the high street, The Dairyman is a decent enough pub with a good interior and cheap drinks. This place is nothing too special but is OK for a pint.

Well done to the barstaff for the quick service and friendly manner towards customers. Beer still well kept and reasonably priced and cheaper on Monday. Toilets very clean better than most Wetherspoons and tables cleared without a delay. Overall an enjoyable visit.

Stopped in here with family for a quick lunch as we know price's are really good. Prices slightly more than at home but still very good value. Surprised by the menu to still have dessert on. Around our way there is only 4 items on the dessert menu!

My partner and I visited The Dairyman on Sunday morning 29th October table 36. We ordered an All Day Breakfast...

We love to have a cappuccino with our meal but for the last week we have been told the machine is out of order. It's a shame as we will take our business elsewhere. Is it a case of the staff can't be bothered to make it? It's wrong of you to advertise it on your menu if it's not available. I can't believe that you can't get the machine repaired quicker. Shame on you. We will go elsewhere for lunch in the future.

Requested an English Breakfast without baked beans due to allergy to Legumes. Manager would not do it as food was ordered through app, explained I would not be able to eat the food. The manager explained she had done 'all' she could do by asking the kitchen.

This wasn't our first time but we went back as we were passing by. We picked a Thursday lunchtime for a quick bite. Usual "Spoons" clientele, mums wth kids, office staff grabbing a fast pint and a sandwich plus oldies ( us included), TOWIE types too. Food was served quick and was good value and taste.

Waited for 10 minutes for a beer at 11am Monday and manager seemed to ignore me perhaps it was the wrong day to visit.
