This company had a stall selling coffee and pastries at Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival. They took the payment and then I realised there was a 20 minute wait for two coffees and a pastry which cost over £12 and the coffee was horrible. Muddy, weak and tasteless. I asked them to redo it, which one of the guys did, however, it was still weak and tasteless even with half the water. I was told to wait to complain to the manager but when he eventually came he was rude and refused to give me a refund. Other people in the queue were also unhappy and someone else brought their drink back as well. I said I would post a review and he said he didn’t care as he had sold thousands of coffees. Terrible service and coffee and the manager is arrogant. Avoid this company if you can

Awful customer service do not visit! Would score it zero if it was an option! Ordered 2 panini’s, a Cappuccino and coffee. Ran out of chorizo so served us plain store bought chicken and cheese. They were awful, asked for mayonnaise and got given an empty bottle. The cappuccino tasted like they had run out of coffee beans. Explained this to the lady who served us and she said she would speak to the manager. The manager - the most ignorant excuse of a human I have met!He completely ignored it like nothing had been mentioned so we explained it to him again. Advised my husband has MS and the medication he is on needs to be taken with food so had no choice but to have a few bites but the food was inedible. He refused and continued with his ignorance. Didn’t want to give us any money back to which I explained to him why his level of customer service was so bad and how he could improve - hopefully he takes this on board. His refusal for a refund leads me to believe this happens frequently and he clearly needs the money! Got £6.10 out of a £20 meal and he refused to refund the cappuccino. I don’t normally write reviews but felt people should be warned about this disgusting human and his establishment, For full disclosure my husband had to eat some of his panini because of the medication and had left a quarter, I had one bite out of mine. All this took place with the manager whilst our baby also needed attending to.

Visited today after stopping overnight in a nearby hotel. Was drawn in as the decor looked nice and inviting. Ordered a sandwich, a panini and hot drinks. Chose a sandwich specifically as it stated thick cut bread and I fancied something rustic and filling. Sadly I didn't take a photograph but the sandwich was literally two medium slices of bread with sweet chilli sauce and a layer of chicken slices served alongside a pinch of lollo rosso bagged salad that was literally brown and rotting in places. My friend had a cheese and ham panini and when she opened it up the ham was value processed ham pieces. Again served with the same rotting salad. I didn't bother feeding back as the two young girls were minimally communicative and didn't seem interested in providing anything other than bare minimum in every element of their service, when we left despite being 1 metre away, one of the girls didn't even say goodbye. Neither seemed to enjoy or realise what is needed to work in a customer facing hospitality role. We went on to The Larder just after for a good coffee and a slice of home made cake which was literally perfect in every way, as was The Angler the night before. The owners have obviously spent some time and money in modernising the interior, the staff and products could benefit from some TLC and training.

Very relaxed, cozy, and comfortable environment. Lovely selection of hot, cold drinks, milkshakes, sandwiches and various sweet treats. Lots of space for prams but no high chairs, very child friendly with kids drinks on the menu. Lovely place to relax with a coffee and a book, amazing tasting coffee too which is probably the cheapest you can find in a cafe in oakham!

Good for a coffee, but offers very little else, so if slightly peckish then you really need to look elsewhere. Staff turnover seems to be very frequent, so do not expect any consistency of service.

Yes we’ve decided that after trying a number of places in Oakham, this is the place to get good coffee … But for me to give it a score of 5 the speed of service.needs to improve. In fact we are back there tomorrow so yes do try it!

This coffee shop is so peaceful. No bad music or over-hissy machines. Just good, decent coffee. Welcomed my dog in too. As well as indoor space, outdoor area also quiet and away from traffic. Just down form Lloyds and Costa. Well worth a visit.

Love this coffee shop, friendly service, well-priced and great menu. I particularly recommend their biscoff hot chocolate - it was heavenly😍 always visit here when passing and I’m never disappointed. Would much rather come here than one of the chain places like Costa.

Small local friendly coffee shop. Coffee made as I liked it. Staff friendly. This coffee shop before covid, provided good seating areas and was dog friendly the seating area is currently undergoing refurbishment. The take away counter remains open. When all returns to normal, I would recommend this place for a leisurely break for any visitor.

On of the few places doing takeaways during lockdown so we had coffee both morning and afternoon from here. It took a long time to get 4 coffees in the morning. Staff were very pleasant but less talk more activity needed. On both occasions the coffee was good.

I think I could make better instant coffee at home. My coffee turned up as a piping hot watery americano with a touch of burnt coconut milk rather than a lovely coffee with a slight coconut milk foam that I was expecting. I could honestly make a better coffee myself. I won’t be going back

We called in for a drink to warm us up a bit, I had a Tea and my Wife a Coffee but there was a lengthy wait I don't know why, but when it came my Wife had to follow the man from the counter and remind him he had not brought the cookie she ordered. Normal tea and coffee so why the wait I don't know as it wasn't that busy.

We called in at 12.30 for some lunch. I ordered coronation chicken and soup. After 5 mins I was told no coronation chicken. Ah. So I ordered chicken and bacon. After a few minutes I was told no chicken. Hmmm! Changed order to cheese and bacon. Soup was suspiciously like a cuppa soup. Not the best. I see the manager review responses from 10 months ago say no crisps or salad with a sandwich. So why does sandwich menu on website still say crisps or salad with a sandwich??

It's easy to miss this great little coffee shop, but well worth the visit! The coffee is great, with a nice range of freshly made cookies, cake and what seems to be very popular milk shakes (in the time I was there a number of people came in for milk shakes, all seemed pleased with their choices) ... all wrapped up in a lovely atmosphere with very friendly young man serving. I went for the flat white, coronation chicken sandwich (seems like a popular choice) and a slice of the homemade Victoria sponge cake and was really pleased all round. I don't leave reviews very often, but thought this one was well worth my time! I will definitely be back to sample more delights!!

Oh dear. Sadly not learning from previous reviews. Defensive responses indicate no willingness to up the anti and satisfy customers even if you don't agree. Sandwiches definitely dull compared with even chain coffee shops in town. Bit of garnish makes all the difference especially when your bread is doorstop variety. Such a simple thing to add value and a pound on your prices. Coffee served in half pint mugs very eighties, no one wants 5hat much liquid. You need a usp to compete and survive saying your coffe is great does not cut the mustard Cafe Nero etc has that. Lovely young man serving young lady please smile ..

Not only did the young man make me feel unwelcome when I called on my way to the station he looked me up and down like I was a bag lady! Then he brought me a dirty mug and milk with bits floating in it....coffee granules evidently...I was drinking tea. He had obviously been stung by the recent review saying the place was dirty because he then got out a squirty cleaner and proceeded to squirt all the surfaces and wipe them down. Awful stink. I left. Tea was OK but no one wants to sit inhaling chemicals from cleaning products whilst sipping tea from cups that just need a bit of soap and water!

you would yhink an independent coffee house on a sunday morning would be a great appeal. The daily Grind disappoints. The modern technology of ordering on a tablet looks efficent enough but the long await thereafter does not justify the means. When the coffee finally came it was ok but the pastries and cake was small in portions size and was not fresh. It was more of a grind to us than an great experience. could do better

Called into this little Coffee Shop lateish on Bank Holiday Monday. We were welcomed by a very friendly gentleman who I presumed was the owner. We settled on tea and a scone ( which I asked to be toasted )and a white chocolate cookie. The scone was delicious, and came with a choice of jam and a generous dollop of clotted cream.

Using rooms rating instead for the food rating , as it was amazing. Started out with a 3 for £15 nibbles board between three of us, which was just the right amount for the wait until mains. Once they arrived, I was greeted by the best fish and chips I've had in my life, with amazing tartare sauce and the mushy peas were beautiful. Will be coming again for certain! The only negative I can think of was the service was slightly on the slower side, but still very professional and well done! Thank you for a wonderful evening! Edit: Been back twice since the reopening, and both times had amazing food and atmosphere!

Visited on a trip to Oakham. It's Caffe Nero so you know what to expect but it's cosy with nice coffee. Only downside for me is that it seems to be one of the branches that allow dogs. And there were quite a lot squealing and clip clopping around on the wooden floors. Price you pay for being deep in the country I guess.

Had an awesome roast dinner here today. Sharing platter which easily fed 2 adults and 2 children (with leftovers for two hungry and knackered dogs!) The meats were cooked to perfection and the veg was packed with flavour. Lovely presentation. Will definitely be back.
