My 'Hot Beef Sandwich ' consisted of a dried out roll, a few tasty onions+mushrooms, one very small piece of delicious looking beef and two dreadful slices of 'spotty' slices of beef from a supermarket packet which were 'hidden' under the unadvertised topping. Slight argument when I asked for a refund. Was told the beef had been kept warming on a hot plate but not for how long. My daughter had already had to return a packet of crisps with a best before date of 2023.

This is a quirky cafe, very basic but a welcoming stop when on the daffodil walk. Hats off to those who work there in such cramped conditions, the young girls especially up and down the narrow passage way and stone steps with trays. There is a good choice of drinks and food - don’t understand the comment on a previous review about the latte being an instant one as that is what it is advertised as on the menu. The outside seating area could do with a makeover.

Came here a year ago and the outdoor eating area was tired and messy, 12 months on it is even worse with broken seating and general messiness. Popular place due to its location so they need to spend some money improving facilities. Expensive for a cup of tea that was served in a cracked and chipped mug. Watching rat run under the tables was our cue to leave. Will not be visiting again.

Dirty little cafe , staff were pleasant but lacked the knowledge of basic hygiene, sucking their fingers whilst taking our orders and wiping their noses on their sleeves. The inside was dark and grubby, and looked like it needed a good scrub and overhaul . Prices for a regular cup of herbal tea and a coffee were extortionate - about £3.20 - and the take away cups they came in were flimsy and soiled and cheap. Not worth the price or the risk to your own health! Will never return and would warn anyone who values their own gut health to avoid at all costs.

Great little café. Indoor and out door seating. Great food and friendly service. Be prepared to queue a while when busy and do follow the signs that say keep to the left as its a small area to order food etc, We had a bacon bap and a scone and jam...even a choice of jam. Everything seems to be a package....scone, jam & tea is one price. The bacon bap and coffee/tea was a set price ...I think it was £6.00 Half way around a great walk, The Daffodil Walk from Low Mills to Church Houses and back.

Location 👍 Views 👍 Food 👍 Service 👎 The lady who took our very small order (an afternoon tea, sausage bun and 3 teas), couldn’t seem to cope with a queue. She had a bit of a meltdown, when a man tried to pay for some ice creams whilst she was taking our order. She was apologetic and said to us, “I’m trying to be nice to you.” We then had to repeat our order. Doesn’t sound much however, we felt embarrassed by her attitude towards us, as other customers were waiting behind us. She made us feel uncomfortable, as if we were causing a problem. I’m not sure she should be front of house. The food was nice, decently priced and all of the other staff were lovely but we shall not be returning due to her unprofessionalism. It’s a shame!

Not the best. Latte was one of the sweet packet ones you get. Sandwiches ok. Side salad but no cutlery. If you go on a nice day you can sit outside and watch the birds. Didn't try the cakes but they looked nice. 2 coffees, 1 tuna sandwich with small side salad and 1 bacon butty just under £15. Prefer cash but do have card machine.

Had to smile when I read the previous reviews, especially Lady Ruth's... Look, this is a quirky, fun, interesting cafe with a great bloke who runs it, which offers simple fayre and no posh lad-i--da speciality coffees. If you want a Costa go elsewhere. If you want Michelin starred haute cuisine, go and see the wonderful Tommy Banks, down't road! But if you want simple, good quality food, well cooked and either tea or white coffee (sorry Ruth) then this is the place for you. Loved the simplicity. Loved the banter and loved the value for money on offer. Great place and will now make an annual pilgrimage to the daffs and the Daffey Cafe. #respect #notforanyonecalledRuth

This is the mid point for the daffodil walk so was a good spot for lunch. They are happy for you to go in with muddy boots and coats etc which is ideal. The food is quite simple (bacon/ beef rolls, soup, buns etc) but probably just what you need on a walk. They also have cakes and scones for pudding. It’s quite a scruffy looking place so not somewhere to go for a special occasion but was just what we needed on our walk.

Called in for a coffee while doing the Daffodil walk. Asked for an oat milk latte, which seemed to confuse the staff .... I ended up with a 'normal milk' latte with a very small jug of cold oat milk to accompany it. I have no idea why I couldn't make myself understood! The ('normal milk') latte was very disappointing - it tasted very unnaturally sweet though it was made without sugar. I have visited this cafe in the past and had been looking forward to visiting again, as on previous visits it had been fantastic. So, very disappointed this time. Also, the man who appeared to be the 'boss' was rather rude and made me feel as if I was being stupid, asking for my oat milk latte haha 😄

We stopped for refreshments and after ordering tea, scones and hot sandwiches we were given the tray of tea and told the rest would be brought. Sandwiches arrived, no scone. I asked and was told it would be brought out, waitress then kept coming with other orders then questioned whether I'd actually paid for one. I told her how much I'd paid and what I'd bought. She returned again with no scone and questioned me again whether I had a receipt. I told her I wasn't happy about being called a liar and questioned over and over and went inside to see the lady who served me. The man behind the counter then rudely said that scones are always put on the tray with the tea, again I said it hadn't been, why would I lie. I told them there were 4 of us and clearly 3 plates, if I had been given the scone there would have been 4! They grudgingly gave me a scone which I actually felt like throwing back at them, how rude to treat a customer like this, especially over a measly scone. I never received an apology for been kept waiting and was really upset by their attitude and been questioned especially in front of everyone in the garden. The prices are very over inflated and the customer service is diabolical, give it a miss!

We visited today after doing the Daffodil walk, there were no menus out on the tables and you had to queue to see what was on offer, this is a little awkward when you have a disabled old person and 5 dogs with you. Some menus on the table would be helpful! The staff were completely inexperienced and didn't know what they were doing. When we finally got in to order, you could see one of the girls washing up, the water was the dirtiest water I've seen, this put me off straight away. We ordered some scones which were dry and tasted stale, there was also a cup of tea missing from our order. We won't return here next time, we will go further down the road to the pub for lunch.

The walk itself is a wonderful easy stroll along the river Dove and although we had missed the daffodils this year it did not spoil the walk. Once at the Daffy we found a charming little cafe which I am sure some will call dated and needing TLC but which I would say is atmospheric, friendly and serving very good food. I'm not sure what people expect from a rural family cafe but it's just right for us. As a cafe that attracts hordes of walkers of course there will be mud on the floor. If it was a sanitised super clean cafe we wouldn't want to go in (and they probably wouldn't want muddy walkers!). It's always a pleasure to visit this small family run business where the children help out. There are great basic snacks and home baking, it's very friendly and guess what, it gets busy in spring when the world famous daffys are out so of course the service can be a bit slower especially on sunny days. If you check first, you'll also realise it's cash only so there'll be no need for drama. We paid £20 for a big pot of tea for four with jam with cream scones all round. In York the day before we paid nearly £30 for the same thing. We've been every year for 11 years and look forward to next year.

The Daffy Caffy is fab! A warm and friendly welcome awaits from George, the proprietor. The 'DAFFODIL WALK' is our favourite walk which we enjoy doing all year round - the best part of it knowing that a hot cup of tea and a bacon sandwich (along with a great choice of snacks) is just a field or two away! We have enjoyed time in the garden and time in the indoor cafe. George is one of the most interesting people we have ever met and we do enjoy a good chat with him (when he is not too busy in the kitchen). You must put this walk / Caffy on your 'to do' list - stunning countryside at any time of the year, except when it is raining! If and when you do visit, write in the Visitors Book George keeps on the mantelpiece in the cafe - it makes interesting reading. George has a lovely family who we have seen grow up over our visits during the years. See you soon!

We took advantage of the good weather and headed to Farndale for our first visit to see the daffodils. Parking in the village (£2) we followed the sign posts and began our walk along the path beside the River Dove, enjoying the sunshine and lovely scenery. There were plenty of wild daffodils out, initially a bit patchy but more plentiful the further along we walked., After passing through several gates along the route there was a sign telling us we only had to go through 3 more until we reached the Daffy Caffy. When we arrived a few people sitting in the garden with their refreshments, we decided to get out of the sun for a while so went inside to order and find a table. The food was delicious, we both had coffee (filter and a latte)and bacon rolls cooked to our specifications, personally speaking the only improvement possible would be slices of bread instead of a roll. The staff were friendly, the premises clean and welcoming and the service efficient and the wifi code was offered without being asked for (I hadn't noticed the sign outside advertising free wifi). I would recommend stopping at The Daffy Caffy whether it is for a quick drink, a snack or something more substantial.

I felt very let down with the Daffy Cafe. It is in a very idyllic spot and could be brilliant. However the tea was weak, the bread rolls average and in the north York moors, when you order a ham sandwich from this style of cafe the last thing I expected was cheap water pumped supermarket ham. I feel they have missed the opportunity to offer some quality fare and be a true Yorkshire gem instead they are cashing in.

The sit on the route of the famous daffodil/Farndale tour. There are also other flowers that come out here after the daffodils, so you can visit at other times too. The cafe was very helpful when we were trying to figure out when the bloom was good. Great little spot for all ages. Food good, great garden with many tables. Fab play things for kiddies, and dogs welcome too. Cozy. Also one of the few toilets in the area.

Just back from visiting Farndale (no daffodils in bloom yet) Stopped off at Daffy Caffy for a snack. Small queue to enter the caff but soon got served. Sat inside and food arrrived promptly, tasty rolls and good tea and coffee reaonably priced too. Just read a previous negative review and must disagree - this place is ideal for refreshment after your walk. The toilet is clean and tidy. All in all well worth a visit.

You will have to go a long way to enjoy a better bacon butty straight off the Aga in a more serene setting.

The position of the Daffy Caffy at the end of a well made footpath through Farndale is unique. We had lunch for four: three burgers with salad and a ploughman's with drinks for £20. This is excellent value for off the beaten track, the burgers were tasty and sourced from a local butcher and the the ploughman's was huge with excellent ham. True it rained and we had to leave the idyllic setting of the quaint garden for the small indoor room but that was fine and very clean. Finally, the service was as friendly as could be. A great place for those who like quirky.

Stopped off here for a coffee on the way to the Feversham Arms Inn in the village. Paid £4.00 for two take away coffees, which were weak and only just drinkable. I asked for the two coffees with milk and one with sugar - and was given packets of sugar and a milk jug and asked to put my own milk and sugar in - which was hard to do as there was not a lot of room around the counter. Apart from one adult, all the staff seemed to be young kids - and too many of them. A cafe of this size needs no more than two people working - I counted 5 of them, all trying to serve at the same time which was confusing as they were trying to serve more than one person at a time and I did not know who was serving me. The girl who served me did not speak or ask what I wanted - so was not sure if she was serving or not. I had to speak to her first. I did not try the food - but did use the toilet outside which was clean.

Sorry but we had been recommended this cafe but on a very wet day we went to take shelter to find we were queuing out of the door (must be popular) and there were two huge dogs tied up which we didn't like the look of . Also we thought the area around the cafe was rather tatty - especially the rear garden and the ice-cream kiosk. Just felt we didn't want to wait so carried on to the pub. OK the weather was terrible - not the cafe's fault - but just did not get a good feeling - maybe it would be different on a nice summer's day.

Visited the cafe after doing the Daffodil walk on Mother's Day and was looking forward to tea/coffee and cake. It was our first visit here and we had our toddler with us. The staff were very friendly and there was a good selection of cakes on offer, but unfortunately they're the only positives.I ordered tea, coffee and a scone - mug was dirty, scone was average and coffee was instant (it does say that on the menu but for £2 a cup I was expecting a bit more). We sat outside on a picnic bench which was rotten and falling apart (there are a few in this state) near the child's play area amongst dirty, mouldy, broken outdoor toys. If you have young children I would avoid this place. Nipped to the outdoor toilet on the way out - not very clean, cobwebs everywhere, no soap and obviously no baby change either.Such a shame as it wouldn't take much to improve.

I don't know how we managed to find this place and would probably struggle to find it again. We had decided to go out for the day with no destination in mind, anyway we ended up in Farndale,we parked up and went for a walk along what i now know is the Daffodil trail in spring,as we came out the other side we stumbled upon a small cafe. the owner was very pleasant and very chatty,we went in and ordered scones, bacon sandwich, burger, tea cake and drinks. Within ten minutes the owner had brought it outside to the lovely garden seating area. Then as we set off back we had ice cream from his little outdoor kiosk. All in all a very enjoyable afternoon.
