Well this pub was a lovely surprise, a true hidden gem in the back streets of Brighton. So pleased our friend took us to this pub near to where she lived. We were just going to have a couple of drinks, but ended up having a beautiful fish sharing plate between 4 and desserts, lol. Food was lovely and nice atmosphere, made even better by the great staff.Don't tell too many people about this little diamond, as we don't want it spoilt. Lol. We will definitely be visiting again next time we are in Brighton.

As regular visitors to The Daddy Longlegs we are delighted to return to one of our favourite local pubs following lockdown. Service is exceptional at all times and food is excellent quality and good value. The fish and chips is particularly good. The garden is a lovely place to enjoy drinks in the lovely summer weather. Thanks Anya and the wonderful team!

The Chimney House

25/07/2020: Meat source seems a bit astray -the meat had no flavour so extremely disappointing .we both tried it, sauce with it was sweet and strange. I've had pork here 3 times as a roast very good but then I got a friend from London to come down for it and what he had was all fat and no meat. Unlucky I guess. I had a burger mini once it was all matted meat in the middle and inedible. so my feeling is the meat can be good - but other times it misses the mark. Therefore the pub needs to check it before serving each week. We looked at the glorious burgers as we left and wished we had them instead. it was £22 and was served cold felt a whole steak would have stayed hotter rather than strips .Felt price high for amount and quality. Kindly gave pudding in lieu. however this piece of meat was still coming in at £14. we quibbled no further as lock down has been hard and we know the chef works hard here and the staff. drinks could have been offered during the meal. Staff looking well turned out. No one asked if everything was okay or if we wanted more drinks during the meal. Puddings good. My tofu dish was fine at £14 Bill was £61. I large glass of wine was had two mains and two puddings.
19/07/2020: We rocked up today without a reservation.Super friendly waiting staff who really made the experience worth repeating... Shame we live in MK.Clear and well observed SD and sanitation protocols. We ordered the roast beef (one with gravy on the side) and were not disappointed:Crispy roast spudsSeasonal (shelled broad beans, cabbage, courgette, beetroot, radishes) roast veg cooked perfectly and seasoned wellBeef cooked and sliced beautifulCeleriac purée (buttery and velvety)Great Yorkshire pudThank you, the best roast dinner in 3 years. I'd been avoiding them as so many have been disappointing. But the chef/cooks here know how to create a great plate.

27/09/2020: A friend recommended this restaurant so we tried yesterday for lunch. For a crowded Saturday in Brighton, there were only two tables of customers including us. Ordered two basic Cantonese dishes. A wonton soup and a plate of roast pork/cha siew rice. The wonton is small without much flavour. Rice was overloaded with soya sauce, meat was very thinly sliced. Food was overall not great. However, service was attentive and the waitress even helped me to charge my phone.
