Best coffee in town!! The pistachio and coconut cake is a must!! Delicious!! Also they are always so lovely and welcoming with a beautiful smile.

Ordered Vegetarian English breakfast expecting the usually vegi sausage etc, ended up with one slice of egg on toast, I did say that’s not a full English she insisted it was and said I should have ordered a ‘fry up’ on the menu and I had it wrong! I just let it go, to be fair the food was fresh and nice. Just be careful if you ask for full English you get egg on toast 😂

The soya latte was very good. House roasted beans. Eggs and toast are pretty plain looking, but the brown bread was fresh and tasty, with a range of packaged condiments to jazz it up. Perfectly reasonable place for breakfast and coffee, located in a pretty village style shopping street

The gelato is here is fantastic, and Tony is super nice! They have so many flavors to pick from, and it’s easy to get to. Come and visit here!

For me, the coffee here is the best in Brighton. I went out of my way this morning to stop off at Caffe Bar Italia for breakfast and it was well worth it. Great atmosphere, great coffee and a lovely fresh croissant. Thank you!

Went in with my mum for the first time today. Made to feel incredibly welcome and the coffee and food were out of this world. We had the mushroom and spinach cream pasta ..divine. I highly recommend.

A family run cafe. I had an excellent large cappuccino and a delicious ham and cheese omelette. My wife had a flat white and scrambled eggs on ciabatta. Dog friendly.

The food and coffee is good but the soft play room (which you have to spend a minimum of £9 to use), is full of mould. Not ideal for anyone to be sitting up there! I could even see my breath in there due to the condensation and there is mould all over the ceiling. The play area is a good idea but not very well stocked anymore or clean. My suggestion to the owner is to clean the drawers and toys, maybe a restock to the toys and make it safe for people to be up there. No children should be breathing in mould.

A lovely local Hove business that I am so pleased to have stumbled across. My partner and I visited today for the first time, and I have to say that I absolutely loved this place. As a coffee addict, I have to say their iced latte was the best I have ever had. The pastries were amazing. The owners were lovely and kind. I highly recommend and will return.

This is a lovely cafeteria on George Street I used to go to. They serve good coffee and good food at a reasonable price. Yesterday, I also bought some coffee beans after having my favorite Arabiata spaghetti there🍝 . Beans are fresh enough and taste so great👍👍 .

I went to Brighton for the first time and stayed there for a month. I went here to eat once and as much as I enjoyed it I have returned several times. The food is fantastic and the staff are super friendly. The place is very welcoming, it almost feels like home. What about the coffee… simply sensational! Furthermore, the coffee blend was created by the owner and the coffee beans are roasted directly on site, which gives the coffee an even more intense flavour. Furthermore, it is also possible to buy their coffee (both in beans and already ground). Below are some of the dishes I ate.

second time my wife"greta" and I have used this cafe.. the ladies were replaced by a totally uninterested man who couldn't care less about customers.. coffee has been left too long and bitter. no food advertised on board outside was in supply. left coffee on table and walked. I recommend you spend your money elsewhere.

Why go to a chain coffee shop when you can visit a genuine Italian-owned independent coffee shop. The coffee, food and service are all first class.

I come here quite regularly & my friend comes even more .We do usually have the same thing which is the melanzane alla parmigiana & it is divine .Have tried to replicate this dish at home but my efforts don't even come close .I did once have a bacon sandwich & have had a panini -all were delicious .Have also glanced at other diners food & it looks equally good & their clean plates speak for themselves .The quality & price can't be rivalled & I'll definately be back & I strongly recommend you give it a whirl too

I had coffee today with a friend and as always the service was so friendly. Before Christmas I had the tastiest minestrone soup. Just returned from Tuscany and this cafe reminds me of the cafes there. Thank you for the great service. x

All I had was a take away toastie but it was a good toastie and seriously well priced. The staff were charming an if I stayed to eat in a toastie and Prosecco would have been a lovely option. Actually this is the best eatery in George Street Hove, or should I say the only eatery I would consider in this part of Hove. The more exciting sand diverse offerings are more on the road to Brighton

I visited today with my two children, who are 5 and 7, and my parents. We’ve visited before and have always sat upstairs near the toddler area, as my youngest is autistic, so it is a lot quieter up there, away from all the coffee/smoothie machines etc. The female owner was happy for us to sit upstairs, as long as we had a minimum spend of £9. When we got upstairs, there was nobody else up there. After about 3 minutes or so, the male owner came upstairs and instead of explaining in a friendly manner, he proceeded to tell us how my children were too old to be up in that area. (This is the same man who has served us upstairs in the past and has never had an issue before today.) I explained that I was happy to keep my children away from the toddler area, but that we sit upstairs due to it being quieter. I explained that my Daughter has sensory issues, but he quite clearly didn’t seem to care about this, and proceeded to tell us that we needed to sit downstairs. His was very abrupt, and quite frankly looked at us like we were being a nuisance, when we were nothing but polite in return. After he rolled his eyes and walked off, we decided that we did not want to stay somewhere that we felt unwelcome, so we left. As we left and headed downstairs, we realised the male owner was trying to move us from upstairs, to seat some other people upstairs. These people had children around the same age as my children, so it didn’t really make any sense to me, unless he knew them? There would have been enough room for all of us up there, but for some reason, it seemed to be an issue. As we walked out, I made a point of saying to these people that the man was very rude to us, and one of the ladies waiting to be seated upstairs was very apologetic, even though it was not her fault. We certainly will not be visiting again after this experience.

I've just had some Chocolate Tart & it's been quite Delicious. The Café & it's Staff are amazing.

I had some time and walked past about 6 cafes to find one that I wanted to eat at. This place seemed charming had outdoor seating and was reasonably priced. I ordered a full English breakie with tea and it came.oit pretty fast. The service was good and there was lots of cake and treats. There is an upstairs for kids and inside seating area. This is a good place to have food and coffe with friends a partner or just by yourself.

Eek! There is a minimum spend to use the filthy dirty children’s play area upstairs. No problem at all, except the lady let us spend £4.80 on coffees downstairs then the male owner came upstairs demanding an extra 20p - humiliating. The play area is so dirty I’d never let my daughter go there again.

In the past ten days I have had a spaghetti with meatballs and today I had ravioli with seafood, both absolutely delicious. The tomato sauce that came with these dishes is very good indeed and their coffee is always lovely. There is a play area upstairs for toddlers and their parents which is open until 4pm each day. I love it there and hope that you do too.

I must apologise whole heartedly to this restaurant who i left a bad review for 5 days ago. I had no idea another cafe with same colour shop front and outside chairs existed just a few doors down which the review was meant for genuine error- feel really bad about it- please accept my sincerest apologies x

The platter of Italian antipasti is fabulous, unexpected and excellent value for money. There’s some great home-cooked Italian food here at a really reasonable price among the tea, chips and sausages (and nothing wrong with that either!). A community hub too, the owners are kind spirits.

Fantastic place with lovely staff and incredible coffee. You can even buy their coffee beans and enjoy it at home. Nice food as well.

A lovely little family style café with very good home cooked food. You get a warm welcome on arrival with a nice atmosphere to boot. Their pasta dishes are authentic tasting and delicious plus they have a good selection of sandwiches, croissants, salads etc. Had a delicious aubergine and mozzarella dish today plus a margarita cocktail for a treat and my friend thoroughly enjoyed her penne arriabiata. We also had a small glass of wine each then coffees to finish. Their cakes are too tempting by far and I ended up taking two different ones home, lemon drizzle with poppy seeds and a custard, lemon and almond pie. Thoroughly recommended.

I was a regular customer at Cafe Italia because my kids loved the play area. I always respect the minimum spend to enter the play area which is around £7 and have no problem paying that. However I dont really like the coffee because they dont use professional alternative milks and the same quality I can make at home but its an easy compromise to make for my kids. Today I went in for 3 cakes, and a Coffee that would have been way over £12 but I was refused because my mum had her nero coffee in hand that she bought earlier. Not sure how its better for the owner to get £0 instead of £12 because someone decides to buy a cake instead of the coffee because of the quality of the coffee. It the branding would bother me so much I would offer to give them an empty cup to not take the nero upstairs or I would serve professional coffee so they dont feel the need to bring their own.

This Italian run coffee shop is a real joy to visit, whether just for a coffee and a pastry or for a more substantial meal. I can only personally vouch for the quality of the breakfasts but have no reason to believe that their lunches aren't excellent too. The service is friendly and efficient and prices are reasonable - better than central Brighton certainly. Get to George Street before 9:00 am and you can park nearby for nothing. What's not to like?

So glad we tried this place and I will definitely return again, even just for a coffee. My partner and I had a panini each, which was much larger than we expected! (Also made with lovely homemade pesto, a treat.) The coffee is really nice here, we had two flat whites. We also shared a chocolate twist, they served this warm which I didn’t expect but a great touch. The staff are really friendly, welcoming and polite too. A gem on George Street!

I got a Jacket Potato with Tuna Mayo Sweetcorn...HUGE portion which I wasn't expecting at all .I looked over at a couple who were having Spaghetti and once again,sizeable portions so I assume its the same with all their food.So if you need filling up at v reasonable prices,£6,for jackpot,then throughly recommend this place ,5*

A friendly local cafe that serves a great coffee and yummy selection of food, always with a smile. A nice atmosphere and great space for little children in the upstairs level. If you are going to buy local and independent then here is your place. Particularly great for families.

A friendly welcome from the owner every time we come here, sitting outside in the sun watching the world go by. Italian Perotti Lager on draft, deliciously cold, Prosecco by the half bottle, not too bad, toasted ham and Cheese sandwiches taste 'just right' as do the Paninis. Can't fault it.

Yo no se en que tipo de cafeterías, en Brighton, ha estado toda esta gente que escribe comentarios negativos sobre el café Italia. Sin duda, y he visitado muchos cafés en 10 años viviendo aquí, de lo mejor que he probado. Lo descubrí por casualidad, ya que vivo lejos, con mi suegra, hace más de un año, y las dos coincidimos en que el café y el chocolate caliente, es lo más parecido a lo que tomamos en España, y no el “agua chirrí” que nos suelen colar aquí. Por otro lado, la zona infantil.... es todo un acierto. Lo he visitado al menos 2 lunes al mes desde que mi pequeño tenía un año y la verdad que es un lujo, tomarte un café tranquila, con la seguridad con la que los niños juegan. El personal es muy amable y atento, son un encanto! Lo recomiendo una y mil veces, y desde que empezó la pandemic del covid lo echamos mucho de menos, ya que evito coger wawas con los niños... pero desde que todo vuelva a la normalidad, seguiremos yendo a desayunar!

I am a regular visitor, for the last five years, and have never had a bad cup of coffee here. The staff are friendly and helpful, and it's a great place to sit for an hour and watch the world go by. Lovely delicate pastries too. Recommended.

This place is faultless. The food is amazing and very authentic. I'm vegan and my husband is vegetarian and we are both catered for incredibly well here. The coffee is like in Italy. The cakes are also delicious. The staff and owners are always happy and friendly. Can't praise this place enough. 10/10

Popped in for a quick lunch, and found this gem of a place. Unpretentious, delicious, high-quality food at affordable prices, and excellent service to boot. Simple penne with meatballs was perfect.

Came here for lunch as I was too lazy to travel out of where I stayed during my trip in Brighton.The food was great and the staff were very friendly! Don't miss the fries/chips because they were fabulous and worth the cheat for the day!They serve alcohol as well and have outdoor seating so if you want to hangout with your friends on a lovely day, this could be a place too!

Huge portion of soup and delicious vegetable platter with great use of herbs and spices. Served with a big smile by very attentative staff. Very affordable too.

Couldn't believe they had a vegan speciality section on their menu with a good range of options, from paninis with cheese subs to lasagne! I chose the vegan bolognese (meat substitute of soya mince) which was absolutely beautiful and came with a small pot of Parmesan cheese, I normally don't like vegan cheese but this one melted in to the rich tomato sauce so beautiful and added a hint of something extra - wonderful! I couldn't walk out with out a slice of their vegan cake, which was a blueberry and lime cake topped with pistachios! My mother eats meat and goes to this cafe regularly, she always gets the (normal) bolognese and always loves it! The staff provided a welcoming, fun service - very smiley and happy! Would highly recommend and will be definitly be returning soon!!

I would recommend this to anyone and I would say all the staff are treated well. And the non of the waitress gets told of in front of the custermers which gives this bar a relaxing place to be. Than marinas house who isn't doing a good job on treating the staff. Good food and a nice place for relaxing.

The guy on the till was friendly and smiley, but when he wasn’t there the two other staff behind the counter (one possibly was the manager/owner?) either ignored me or said I had to wait for him to come back to take my order - bit of an odd set up considering there was a queue forming...

Was out walking the streets of Hove, getting to know the area a little. Stumbled across this independent cafe and had a pit stop for a brew!

Came here for something to eat with my mum yesterday (we are both vegan and I am gluten free) and had the nicest experience. Fantastic customer service from all members of staff, very understanding and helpful finding me something that fits with my very specific list of allergens. Have been here multiple times before and so pleased to see them embracing the vegan menu more & more. Will be telling all my friends about my favourite cafe in George street - highly recommend . DOG FRIENDLY TOO <3

Food is very good! Staff is really nice! It can be a bit noisy due to children playing area but that’s another good thing about the cafe!

Best value place to eat on George Street. Kids portions large and tasty, selection for adults extensive and coffee much better than any chain. The owners are so friendly and they must hand pick their staff because everyone is there to help. With a kids play area upstairs for pre-schoolers this place is a must try.

We discovered this amazing Italian cafe several years ago and have been coming here regularly ever since as it never disappoints. The staff are very friendly and welcoming and food and coffee is exceptional. I have been to Italy many times so believe me when I say ‘this is an authentic Italian cafe’.

We had a couple of veggie / vegan option lasagne from the counter. Great side salad choices, really good and healthy food - not just the usual afterthought menu for meat dodgers! Good coffee. First time visiting for a few years so we didn't realise the owners changed a while back - very good service and nice friendly vibe. It's a busy street and lots of competition but this place more than holds its own. We'll be back.

Great coffee and they take part in the scheme of "Pay for an extra coffee that can be given to those that perhaps can't afford it i.e. homeless". The breakfasts are also very good as are the Panini's and wide selection of lunches

We have been coming to this cafe over2 years now , and it's our favourite in George street. Staff are friendly and coffee is good . However it's the minestrone soup that keeps us coming back for more . Simply the best !

I have been her lots of times for breakfast. I really like the veggie breakfast, it makes a change from english breakfast as it has mozzarella and roasted veg. Perfect for brunch. My partner always has salmon ciabatta which he loves! Only negative thing is inside can get a bit smoky with fumes from the kitchen which makes your clothes smell of cooking. There are seats outside and we prefer to eat outside where possible. I would say that on a rainy day it might stop me going here because sitting inside you can feel a bit smogged. Howver it does kind of make it feel authentic and I guess it can't be helped

Been here three times now with my toddler. Concept is great - playroom upstairs for kids. However...it's filthy. Every toy and surface covered with a layer of grime and dirt. Looks like nothing up there gets cleaned. Ordered an iced mocha and it was disappointing slush. That evening I had a tummy bug. Won't visit again, but would certainly consider it if they can seriously smarten the place up and clean thoroughly.

I live close by this cafè and one time I popped in once just as a matter of curiosity, attracted by the name (I'm Italian)! I ordered an espresso and it was very similar to the one I usually have from an Italian "bar".

I had the pasta with prawns and courgette and it was delicious! The staff in there are exceptionally friendly, kind and patient, especially the lady.

I have not yet eaten a meal here, but I have been several times to let my daughter play upstairs while I have a coffee and sometimes a baked good. The employees are always welcoming, and I'm quickly becoming a regular.

We like Italian. In fact we go there about twice a year, so therefore we like eating Italian foods.

I never think Caffe Bar Italia looks that appealing from the outside, but having sampled various dishes and lovely cappuccinos with very friendly staff, I can thoroughly recommend this for a relaxing snack or lunch. I think a good makeover would do it justice but it doesn't stop me going in as I love their tasty food.
