Went to a friend's 50th birthday party. She'd booked the private room on the side, and it was perfect for mingling.

We travelled down to Brighton to visit our friend Daniel and his guide 🦮 dog Quasia ( who my wife and I trained from a puppy). Daniel had booked a table. The food was absolutely superb and the staff were very good. Very well priced and a very good amount of food. Highly recommend the Garden bar.

30 years since I was last here(long story), too many sad memories, so when my Fam suggested Sunday roast I said why not? What I missed can't be revisited BUT I will be going again and again. Went for a Sunday Roast. Overpriced for what it was. Bit of a cheek putting hardly any gravy on the dinner then charging £1 for more !!! Seem to be more about presentation than actual food and would not go again. Also charging over £9 for a ginger ale and a non alcohol beer is a rip off.

We had a brilliant experience at The Garden Bar. Firstly it was very close to the bus stop and I was lured by the lovely lighting. The cocktail menu was extensive and we tried the Honey Margarita and Tiramisu Martini - divine! We sampled a variety of dishes including the baked Camembert, the Frickles (fried pickles - amazing), cauliflower bites and halloumi strips. The staff were attentive and friendly and obviously take pride in their roles. Absolutely loved the warm and welcoming atmosphere. The outdoor areas are well-landscaped and immaculate. There was a "Clayful Hands" Pottery Lounge painting event on at the time and it looked like a wonderful way to spend an evening. It definitely made for a memorable evening and I wish I had local pub like The Garden Bar back home in Australia.

We rented out part of The Garden Bar for our Wedding Party/Reception. They communicated so well ahead of the event and made sure everything ran smoothy. The BBQ we selected for food was great and they were the perfect space for a relaxed wedding reception. However, we had a guest in a wheelchair and it was rather awkward for them to get inside and outside due to lots of stairs and ramps needing to be used. Unfortunately the toilet doors were also too narrow for a wheelchair which was not ideal for our guest so that is worth noting for any future guests who are in wheelchairs.

Attended baby shower and we all had roasts , the baby shower was great given a section of the bar near garden and the food definitely dud not disappoint , toast was amazing and shall be returning soon

The most magical perfect wedding!! We had our wedding at the Garden Bar and we honestly couldn’t have asked for a better day. Everyone has been raving about the food! We had the BBQ in the day with a buffet brought out later and it went down a storm. The bar staff were Incredible, and with a wedding of over 120 people (who were drinking a lot!) I didn’t see a que at the bar, the staff were all over it! Amazing experience would highly recommend for your wedding! 💒

We recently attended a wake here for a close family member. Everything was perfect. So impressed. Several staff waiting behind the bar on arrival to serve drinks for approx 80 people. We had our own reserved area which was great. The food was amazing. Very tasty and plenty of it, Very, very highly recommended for any sort of family’do’. They say the sign of a good wake is if the person would have enjoyed it. It’s true to say that he would have loved it! Thank you Garden Bar.

Food is so nice and been a few times now - parking can be poo but worth going

I was disappointed with the food on this visit, especially given the Sunday roasts, which are 5☆. Ploughman's was particularly poor as very light on ingredients, especially for the price.

Booked the Garden bar for my engagement party, was a lovely venue lots of room for socialising and dancing! The staff are lovely and accommodative.

Thank you so much Garden Bar for making our party to celebrate four family birthdays so special. The organisation was easy thanks to Annamari, the food was delicious and the venue worked perfectly....we had the West bar and garden which gave plenty of space to sit and chat, eat and a (very busy!) dance floor. We added some of our own table decorations and balloons but the pub itself is very pretty and party-ready. And finally the bar staff (can't name you all but Taru and Kyle are a on the night were exceptional, so friendly, helpful and relaxed. Thank you all VERY much!!

Engagement party. Really good venue

We recently hired out the West wing with the garden for a multi event party. Fantastic venue, easy to book and great communication after booking, right up to the night of the party. We had over 100 guests but had only catered for 80, there was still plenty of food to go around. Most of our guests said how fantastic the food was. We just had a speaker with our own music playing, but that was more than enough for what we wanted. All of the staff working on the night we very friendly and really helpful. Drink prices were not to bad, mid range and a great selection of draught beers, spirits and cocktails. Everyone had a great time, the garden has to close at 11pm, but it just meant everyone moved inside for a lively end to the evening. We didn't have to clear up, just take everything we wanted, then the team done the rest. Brilliant night.

Lovely beer garden 🍺 a great place to relax

Had my partners 60th birthday party on Saturday everyone had a wonderful time. Staff amazing, no waiting around at the bar. Arranged food for 80, cannot fault at all. Everyone at the party mentioned how good the food was. All very tasty good quality finger foods. Thank you we had a ball.

Met a group of friends for lunch . Food very good. Good portions freshly cooked. The pannini sandwiches come with plenty of salad and homemade slaw. Lovely big garden.

Fantastic Sunday lunch very pub like inside

Ordered a burger with fries at £14.50 and it was disgusting. There was some kind of revolting congealed brown substance on the side of the burger which I realised was cooked blood which indicated it had been Cooked in a microwave. It was not even hot. There was so much sauce that it disguised the taste of the burger. The burger was square which was also odd. The bap was oddly heated so it appeared stale. All in all a really horrible experience. I don’t know how kitchens like this get away with it. The place is busy enough to get a decent chef and cook food properly -although anyone should be able to cook a burger. why I bother trying to ever eat out I don’t know as it is so often a big disappointment for the cost.

Lovely chilled atmosphere, with a function room available for relatively cosy gatherings, parties, and receptions. We could play our own music, which was such a nice bonus.

Shame there was no de cafe coffee in a pub this big

Really upped their game on Sunday Roasts. Really well cooked (not overcooked veg which is usually the case when eating at a pub!) and fantastic service. Well done Garden Bar. Only a 4 for atmosphere as dont really like the big screens but not a showstopper for us - just a bit noisy.

A nice, spacious pub with a good range of drinks, friendly staff and a big outdoor area at the back. The decor in the main bar area is very nice, so it's strange that the men's toilets look as though they've been transplanted from a backstreet spit & sawdust pub in the 1950s! Some room for improvement there. We didn't eat, which is why I'm not giving a rating for the food.

A wonderful Sunday lunch of Roast Lamb. Beautifully presented with the Yorkshire Pudding and a jug of gravy on the side. A very busy pub that necessitates booking.

We had our wedding party here in October 2023 and it was stunning. The team are so warm, helpful and frankly amazing at their jobs. The space was gorgeous with the fairylights and everything set up. The evening was completely smooth sailing and so well organised on the Garden Bar's end. Annamari is so reassuring and has a lot of knowledge and experience that was vital for our planning. She let met with us multiple times and was so flexible to what we needed and wanted. The food at the buffet was absolutely delicious and the team were brilliant with our gluten free and vegan guests. Cannot recommend enough!

A close friend of mine had a wedding reception held here a few days ago, and it was amazing. The staff were wonderful, food was fab, and the pub itself well looked after. The garden itself is huge and stunning. Genuinely couldn’t fault anything even if I wanted to!

There we’re four of us that had booked a table (Well five,including our dog) The service was very prompt and professional. I was spoilt for choice with the great range of beer and ales on tap…(I was driving,so only the one) The food was so good,and very filling. So overall.great food,great service and a reasonable price for central Hove. We would definitely go back….

We had our wedding celebration here the weekend just gone, can’t recommend the bar enough for hosting a party!! From start to finish the staff were amazing, Annamari was so helpful right from the start at helping us create our vision for the day. We chose to have a buffet and the food was delicious, all guests commented on how amazing it was. It’s a great atmosphere in the bar with very helpful staff and great food.

A lovely venue with large outdoor garden that shuts at 11. The location is slightly outside of mainstream Brighton so it’s really nice to be surrounded by less pretentious locals and a good selection of cocktails and spirits on offer. Friendly staff, great espresso martini.

First time here and I have to say, this is by far the best roast I’ve had since moving to Brighton 7 years ago … and I’ve had a few! Lovely service and a nice garden area. Highly recommended.

Charged £15 per head for poor quality buffet, an hour late for outside hire. Absolutely freezing, no music and staff looked embarrassed forcing a charge per person to sit outside in the freezing cold. Absolute rip off! No idea how to run hospitality!

Fantastic roast , well cooked Al dente vegetables , crispy roast potatoes, delicious meat and the vegetarian option was well balanced. The service was attentive and efficient. Really cheerful staff who obviously love their work. Thank you we will return

We, a table of 4, have just had the most amazing Sunday Roast. The food was fabulous, the service has been brilliant and nothing has been too much trouble for any of the staff. Thoroughly recommend it, would definitely advise booking. Having had a roast in The George Payne recently, we rate The Garden Bar as Premier League and The George conference league

Mother's Day lunch.....just perfect couldn't fault anything. Lots of perfectly cooked meat, unusual and tasty vegetables, perfect roast potatoes, huge Yorkshire pudding, copious amount of gravy. Added stuffing balls and cauliflower cheese to our order not really needed but absolutely delicious. All washed down with a perfect Pinot Grigio rose. The staff were so friendly and it made for a relaxed and very happy Mother's Day. Lovely dessert selection. Highly recommended pub. PS try the flat white expresso martini and the after eight martini....you won't be disappointed!

We chose the garden bar for the celebration of my late daughter's life. The staff were incredible and made everything so easy for us that we didn't need to worry about anything . They accomodated 80-100 people, allowed us play our choice of music and play a video montage on their TV. And the buffet and choice was amazing and delicious. So many comments saying it was the best buffet people had ever had. I cannot praise and recommend this venue and the staff highly enough. Thank you for making a sad day special

Great atmosphere and happy service

The Garden Bar looked after us fabulously for our family and friends celebration after our civil partnership. Our gathering was severly impacted by Covid results and the Garden Bar were great at last minute changes to our catering numbers. Staff were really helpful and the food was well made and delicious. A great location for our party. Thank you so much.
