Fantastic night for my girlfriend's birthday, top tier staff only made better by their incredible service and fantastic food

Still the best authentic Indian food in Nottingham. Great food and wonderful service. Can't recommend The Cumin enough.

We've been coming here for about a decade and it is still the best, most authentic North Indian cuisine in Nottingham. Superb as always.

Delicious, authentic Punjabi food, served piping hot, with great service in this family owned and run restaurant. Location not the best (on a busy main road), and decor’s a little dated, but don’t let that put you off. Recommend you try the pani puri shots as a pre-starter, the Amritsari fish (tender, with delicate flavour), the chole bhatura and the methi murg and a rumali roti - all for 2 to share, if you want an amazing, authentic Punjabi meal. All well priced too.

1 star is for Hydrabadi Biryani, its not worth to that price and taste is no where near to it. Too costly for average ambiance.

This spacious, two-story venue, perfect for large gatherings like our recent corporate event, transported us to the vibrant streets of India. The moment we stepped inside, we were greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere filled with the tantalizing aroma of spices and exotic flavors. The menu boasted an extensive selection of authentic Indian dishes. From the crispy bindis to the indulgent methi murg, each dish was a delight. The naan bread was soft and fluffy, the perfect vehicle for soaking up every last drop of the delectable sauce. To complement the cuisine, the restaurant offered a diverse wine list. Overall, our visit was a memorable one. The delicious food, extensive wine selection, and exceptional service made it the perfect venue for our corporate gathering.

Cute and cozy little restaurant with flavourful food and good service. I liked the hospitable atmosphere and attentive staff. The tasty tamarind and mint sauce as well as the flavourful garlic Naan stood out during our 5 star experience.

A home away from home..with fresh ingredients and a lovely balance of flavours the added USP is that warmth of the people that makes the food tastier and makes you nostalgic. I visited The Cumin after coming across a new dish called ‘Nallie Gosht’ on Facebook and as I found myself in Nottingham I thought I’d pop in and give it a try. My word, it didn’t disappoint! For my starter I had ‘Pili Pili Garlic Prawns’ which were sensational and I would highly recommend for someone who likes a medium amount of spice. The ‘Nallie Gosht’ is the best Indian dish I have ever had. I would recommend it to anyone but if you love meat, this one is definitely for you. The meat falls off the bone so easily. The service was spectacular as always! Thanks!

This spot is in a perfect location near all the tourist attractions yet has a very local feel! Like the perfect family run hidden gem you need in your life!

With so many choices of dining establishments I feel we picked the perfect Indian restaurant. We arrived to an empty restaurant that soon filled up with almost all tables occupied. Our food from the Lamb Chops & Onion Bhajhi starters to the Butter Chicken & Okra main courses were very tasty indeed! I certainly enjoyed the cuisine and will definitely be making a return visit next time I visit Nottingham.

I have not visited in a while, as the last time the food was absolutely incredible. We enjoyed it so much, by far one of the best in Nottingham. I would recommend the Arachi Prawns, omg we could just eat them along with the lamb chops. We all left happy and very full. Thank you for a lovely evening

One of the best Indian meals I've had for a while. Had a yearning for a curry so popped in. Very friendly staff, great service and the presentation of the food was amazing. There was a lot of meat in my curry. If I had one comment, perhaps the food was slightly bland, although that might have been my choice as opposed to their cooking.

We had a lovely meal with our neighbours thank you Sunny and Monika. As always attention to detail front of house was fabulous and the food beautiful. I haven't been out very much in several years and it was lovely to return and find excellent quality. Thank you

The food was absolutely delicious! Their nan had not only butter but also some coconut flakes and tasted amazing! Both curries (prawn and lamb) tasted so good. The lime rice was a bit too sour for me. They also had a good dessert menu with homemade ice creams. It took a while for the food to serve and I think it's worth it. Not cheap but definitely not expensive for the quality. Highly recommended.

Came here with my boyfriend for his birthday and had a lovely meal, the food was brilliant and the service was very attentive. They brought out a special birthday dessert for my boyfriend as well which was delicious and very nice of them, as they remembered it from my booking request without me needing to remind them at all. Excellent food, friendly service

The Indian food here is mouth watering and absolutely delicious. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor and cooked to traditional Indian perfection. Highly recommend the Murg Malbari and Palak Paneer. Cleanliness and hygiene very well maintained. Ambiance is very good. I visited this restaurant 7 years back and yesterday, I found the same taste of perfection.

Service was good but food a little slow as there were a few big tables to serve at once. Would definitely go back and recommend a visit.

Try the Lime Rice ! The Cumin provided a really excellent experience on a quiet Monday night in April. We had the usual starters. I had onion bhaji , which arrived in its constituent parts, rather than a pattie, elegantly dotted with sauce. This really showcased the flavours. Mains were accompanied by Lime Rice. Order it !!!!! An absolute revelation and provided a delicate base to showcase two superb lamb mains. In all honesty the punjabi cooking of vegetables is this restaurant’s key strength, delicate and flavourful. Makhani Dahl was my highlight. Unusually for a beered up pair of blokes, we polished off the lot.

I've been going to Cumin for many years and it's about time I gave them the rave review that they deserve. I chose Cumin as our destination last night because I've never had a bad experience there and this was no exception. The restaurant itself has a good atmosphere and is very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly, competent and service was prompt. We were made to feel welcome. Last night's food was outstanding. Each of the dishes was distinct and well described on the menu. Unlike many Indian restaurants where most of the menu items sound very similar and ambiguous , you can read Cumin's menu and have a very good idea what each dish will be like. Also the Chilli rating is accurate; i asked for a 2 chilli dish to be upgrade to a 3 chilli dish and was very pleased with the outcome; the dish was hot but not offensively so. I recommend having a starter and trying different things - I was blown away by one of the Aloo starter which one of my friends had - I realise now that by having the same SOOKHA JHINGA prawns every time I go (because I love them) I, miss an opportunity to sample the rest of the menu. We were all very happy with our main dishes too; this time I did try something different form my usual Methi, and was very glad that I did. We are luck to have a number of very good Indian restaurants in Nottingham but I think that Cumin is the best of them all. Thanks Cumin! Update Apr 2024 The Cumin is just as good as it has always been - I'd not been for a few years. I tried the butter chicken this time and man it was tasty.

The fried Okra didn’t quite meet my expectations but everything else we ate was genuinely fantastic. All the other dishes were packed with flavour, spicy and interesting curries, juicy kebab, even the dips tested really fresh with a depth of flavour. The Naan was so light with a perfect amount of garlic. The service was very good, nice and slick plus they have Cobra on tap. The menu is absolutely massive and there is plenty of vegetarian options too.

Having lived / spent 18 months in India (albeit sometime ago) - I can honestly say the food you deliver is the best & most authentic food & up there with the best Indian meal I’ve had outside of India - outstanding meal 10/10. The best curry I have had in a long time

Went here to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful meal. Not only was the food great, the service was absolutely superior. We had the North Indian Fish Curry and the vegetarian option Dahl Makhni as entrees and the spicy Cauliflower and wings for starters. The Peshwari naan was the best we have ever had! We will definitely return.

We don’t do many theatre shows in Nottingham but Wow! What a meal it was amazing made just to our likening. The owners were so friendly and welcoming when we arrived. The restaurant was clean and bright as before the meal was so tasty it’s one of the best I’ve had. The toilets were clean and tidy. We will definitely be back next time

By far the BEST indian restaurant i have EVER been to! I was here for my husband's work do! Everything tasted amazing! The manager and the waitresses were very hospitable and patient. The food tasted beautiful and each dish had its own distinctive flavours! Just wonderful! And them onion bhajis! Maaannnm i couldnt get enough of them! AMAZING! Definately coming back for another visit!

I enjoy Indian food and have eaten in restaurants all around the country. I have no hesitation to say this is some of the top food I have tasted! Portion sizes are great, the spices were at the top level. To conclude the staff and management were friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend this for food and drinks. It’s also located in the centre of Nottingham town so it’s a 2min walk from the live music bars and shows!

I came here with my partner and the food was amazing, also to mention the amount of food for the price will leave you stuffed! The atmosphere was perfect, with the most friendly and professional service. Definitely would recommend coming here and will visit again for sure.
