Great food and service. A little more pricey than some other local restaurants but worth it. Lovely fluffy garlic naan & tasty curry & dhal. Drinks were great, once we found a palatable wine. Service was good but food a little slow as there were a few big tables to serve at once. Would definitely go back and recommend a visit.

My boyfriend and I enjoyed a fantastic seafood and lamb dinner. The dishes were delicious, the service was great, and we had a wonderful time. Highly recommend for seafood and lamb lovers! Plus, it's the perfect spot to celebrate birthdays with its inviting ambiance and delightful cuisine.

Try the Lime Rice ! The Cumin provided a really excellent experience on a quiet Monday night in April. We had the usual starters. I had onion bhaji , which arrived in its constituent parts, rather than a pattie, elegantly dotted with sauce. This really showcased the flavours. Mains were accompanied by Lime Rice. Order it !!!!! An absolute revelation and provided a delicate base to showcase two superb lamb mains. In all honesty the punjabi cooking of vegetables is this restaurant’s key strength, delicate and flavourful. Makhani Dahl was my highlight. Unusually for a beered up pair of blokes, we polished off the lot.

I've been going to Cumin for many years and it's about time I gave them the rave review that they deserve. I chose Cumin as our destination last night because I've never had a bad experience there and this was no exception. The restaurant itself has a good atmosphere and is very comfortable. The staff were all very friendly, competent and service was prompt. We were made to feel welcome. Last night's food was outstanding. Each of the dishes was distinct and well described on the menu. Unlike many Indian restaurants where most of the menu items sound very similar and ambiguous , you can read Cumin's menu and have a very good idea what each dish will be like. Also the Chilli rating is accurate; i asked for a 2 chilli dish to be upgrade to a 3 chilli dish and was very pleased with the outcome; the dish was hot but not offensively so. I recommend having a starter and trying different things - I was blown away by one of the Aloo starter which one of my friends had - I realise now that by having the same SOOKHA JHINGA prawns every time I go (because I love them) I, miss an opportunity to sample the rest of the menu. We were all very happy with our main dishes too; this time I did try something different form my usual Methi, and was very glad that I did. We are luck to have a number of very good Indian restaurants in Nottingham but I think that Cumin is the best of them all. Thanks Cumin! Update Apr 2024 The Cumin is just as good as it has always been - I'd not been for a few years. I tried the butter chicken this time and man it was tasty.

The fried Okra didn’t quite meet my expectations but everything else we ate was genuinely fantastic. All the other dishes were packed with flavour, spicy and interesting curries, juicy kebab, even the dips tested really fresh with a depth of flavour. The Naan was so light with a perfect amount of garlic. The service was very good, nice and slick plus they have Cobra on tap. The menu is absolutely massive and there is plenty of vegetarian options too.

Having lived / spent 18 months in India (albeit sometime ago) - I can honestly say the food you deliver is the best & most authentic food & up there with the best Indian meal I’ve had outside of India - outstanding meal 10/10. Went here to celebrate my birthday and had a wonderful meal. Not only was the food great, the service was absolutely superior. We had the North Indian Fish Curry and the vegetarian option Dahl Makhni as entrees and the spicy Cauliflower and wings for starters. The Peshwari naan was the best we have ever had! We will definitely return.

The best curry I have had in a long time

We don’t do many theatre shows in Nottingham but Wow! What a meal it was amazing made just to our likening. The owners were so friendly and welcoming when we arrived. The restaurant was clean and bright as before the meal was so tasty it’s one of the best I’ve had. The toilets were clean and tidy. We will definitely be back next time

By far the BEST indian restaurant i have EVER been to! I was here for my husband's work do! Everything tasted amazing! The manager and the waitresses were very hospitable and patient. The food tasted beautiful and each dish had its own distinctive flavours! Just wonderful! And them onion bhajis! Maaannnm i couldnt get enough of them! AMAZING! Definately coming back for another visit!

I enjoy Indian food and have eaten in restaurants all around the country. I have no hesitation to say this is some of the top food I have tasted! Portion sizes are great, the spices were at the top level. To conclude the staff and management were friendly and welcoming. I would highly recommend this for food and drinks. It’s also located in the centre of Nottingham town so it’s a 2min walk from the live music bars and shows!

I went here on valentine's day with my girlfriend and we were greeted with friendly service and lots of care and attention. The food was amazing, in particular the chicken korma and the chicken jalfreezi. We never felt rushed into making a decision which is particularly refreshing on such a busy evening. The cocktails were also very nice with the mojito being our highlight.

First time here and will be back when next In Nottingham. Hadn’t booked a table but we were warmly received and made to feel very welcome from the off. We ordered a light dinner and would whole heartedly recommend the lamb madras, chicken dopiaza, tarka dhal, lime rice and keema naan. All other dishes we saw leaving the kitchen looked incredibly appetizing too. Service was prompt and polite throughout which was so refreshing. Comedy moment was when the one of the staff presented a surprise birthday ice cream, candle and all, to a diner who looked a touch bemused as it was not his birthday - they had got the booking confused with another one - his card is in the post!

Beautiful place - first time visiting yesterday and the food was GORGEOUS! Portion sizes a little small I think but overall amazing and the staff were all so lovely and helpful. Plus they serve alcohol and cocktails which is a brucy bonus too!

Such a fantastic restaurant. The food tastes fresh & delicious and the staff are so kind. I have a tomato intolerance and they made a main dish specially for me without it and were very careful in showing me which starters were OK. Perfection!

We went with daughter and grandson who had not been before. Despite not having been for a while, Sunny greeted us like long lost friends and we were made very welcome. The food was 1st class as always. We had Lamb Rogan Josh, Butter chicken and Muttar Paneer for mains, as well as an assortment of starters. An excellent meal served efficiently by the staff.

The service was great, the staff were friendly and helpful. The food arrived quickly. I had vegetarian (okra) curry, mushroom rice and pashwari naan and it was great. Loved the food. The price was ok. I would come back.

We are a family of 5 adults and 2 children and had not booked but we were made very welcome by all of the staff who were kind and attentive especially with our children. Service was excellent and all of the meals were first class, certainly some of the best Indian food we have ever had including an extended holiday we had a few years ago in India. I had the tandoori combination which not only tasted great but looked superb too. Unfortunately, we only occasionally visit Nottingham but will definitely be back when we are in the City. Didn't fancy cooking tonight so I headed to the Nottingham Curry Mile on Maid Marian Way. I'd had my eye on The Cumin Restaurant for a while so that was my choice this evening. It's definitely worth the extra walk down the hill. I was spoilt for choice with the menu, I had about five or six dishes that I was eager to try for the first time, and I eventually decided on the seafood biryani with some poppadoms and pickles to start. The lady who served me was very helpful and patient as some dishes were unfamiliar to me, for example the different types of roti which she explained for me. The pickles served with the poppadoms were very flavoursome, I particularly liked the tangy red onion which complimented the yoghurt and mint and the mango chutney very well. The main biryani course was absolutely superb, I don't normally go for a biryani as they are often quite a dry dish if they are served with meat, but with the salmon, white fish and prawns, the dish was delicious. It was served with a vegetable curry (which was handy for dipping the roti into) and a riata. I could wax lyrical about the fragrant spices in the rice, the cashews and sultanas and the beautifully cooked fish for days. I can still taste and smell the aromas now, 5 hours later. I will definitely come back and work my way through my wish list on their menu. Highly recommended!

All four of us had a superb meal. As a vegan, I appreciated my extensive menu. My friend and I shared two dishes, tarka dahl and chana bahji, both of which were excellent. The accompanying pilau rice and chapatti were also excellent. Our two colleagues had a variety of meat dishes and were very enthusiastic. The wine and Cobra beer finished off the food nicely. With such high quality food, it represented good value for money. Next time I visit Nottingham, I am definitely returning here.

Oh how I have missed this place!! We retuned recently to Nottingham after over a decade away. Our dinner reservation was only going to be one place and that was Cumin. The evening got off to a great start when Sonny welcomed us at the door and amazingly remembered our faces after all these years !! Before we sat Sonny knew what my order was going to be and I didn’t deviate - Tandoori Mixed Grill !!! It did not disappoint the very same high standard and excellent flavour was presented and we loved it !! Amazing ! 5 stars Sonny and the team. Thanks and hope to see you again soon . Went for a friend's birthday. Probably the best curry I've ever had. The service was very efficient. The manger/owner and waiter were very attentive. Bit shout out to the chefs who truly made all our meals delicious.

Starters was a sharing platter for 25 quid which was a couple of sheesh kebabs each, a small piece of lamb and a very very small lamb chop. Totally overpriced. Main I had lamb madras which was sauce plus flavourless meat. Not the best. Friends...

Nice food, very pleasant staff. However I was not overly impressed that service charge is added automatically. It's not the cost, it's the principle. Either charge what you charge to include all costs associated with the provision of the meal or make the service charge an optional. If I want to reward good service, other than what one expects, then I will choose that, not the restaurant. If I order food then I expect it to be brought to my table unless it's a buffet and I don't expect to pay extra for the "service" of bringing it to my table, that's a given. If you need to raise cash don't do it with a hidden in plain sight on the menu ( they claim it was, I did not see it) for me to find it in the bill. Yes it was removed when I pointed out that I was not happy to pay it, but I then I was made to feel awkward. And indeed the food whilst nice was not what I wanted, yes I should have said something, but simply did not, and then they want more money....... I would go back but make it clear that the service needs to go through the roof before they have any right to just lump it on, in the hope no one noticed.

Cumin is an absolute gem. The modern exterior leads to a classy interior with a small downstairs restaurant area and further seating upstairs. The welcome was wonderful and felt very inviting. The authentic menu offers something for everyone including an extensive vegetarian offering. I personally always judge an Indian restaurant by two dishes, their tikka starter and their chicken madras main. Both were excellent and in my personal opinion one of the best madras curries I have ever eaten. I would highly recommend if you find yourself looking for an amazing and value for money curry in Nottingham.

Sunny, along with Monika were exceptional hosts making my 50th birthday a wonderful experience I will never forgot. Nothing was too much trouble, the food was outstanding and the fact we had the run of the downstairs restaurant was the icing on the cake - oh and keeping it secret that there was a cake - that too! Was visiting Nottingham for a couple of days recently and booked this restaurant based on some previous reviews. I was ultimately delighted I did - the food and service were both excellent. I think they might serve the best poppadoms and naan I've ever had in this kind of restaurant and the main courses we ordered were delicious, really well spiced and flavourful. Definitely one of the highlights of our visit to Nottingham.

We recently had our end of season cricket club awards night at Cumin and I can’t praise them enough. The food was incredible, the service perfect and the Cobra beer cold and free flowing. I would recommend it highly.
