MemSaab in Nottingham

Great food and brilliant service. Authentic North Indian food. Would highly recommend and their sister restaurant Masala Junction is a regular haunt of ours when we are in Nottingham.

What's the point. No one cares anymore. Waited 1hr 20mins for delivery on a Monday night for a birthday treat. We've ordered with Memsaab for 10 years. Telephoned after 1 hr to ask where delivery was, put on hold, laughter in the background, told 5 minutes away.. When delivery driver called they were 2 minutes away from our house, trying to deliver but not finding our house. Unsurprising given they weren't in the right place. They hadn't bothered to find our house or read the delivery instructions. Stayed with their car and just called for us to come and collect it. Clearly didn't get the memo that they're the delivery company and have been paid to deliver. We ordered direct with Memsaab website because Just Eat are useless, so when this idiot from Just Eat is 'delivering' our food late, luke warm and to the wrong area, you do wonder why you're paying £6 delivery on a £60 take out. Wouldn't have ordered if it was stated delivery will be one of the useless food delivery rip offs. Nowhere near worth it. Delivery isnt worth it at any price - even free delivery would be taking the pss. At this price and with this service, it's just not worth it whatsoever. Will not be ordering again.

Great customer service and good food

We were really looking forward to experiencing an award winning restaurant, and were happy to pay the extra for (what we thought) was going to be a 'special' night out. The entrance area looked rather plush, but we were escorted to the back of the building where it felt like a service station, rather than a 5 star restaurant! We ordered our food (from the rather limited menu) and what arrived, I can only describe as well below par. The chips were cold (we had kids), the portion size was disappointing, the butter chicken was far, far too spicy (isn't this supposed to be a mild dish)? And the soft drinks were all flat. We paid just under £200 for 6 people and came away completely deflated. It was a Birthday treat, but this was just a disappointment. Completely over-priced for a well below average Indian.

Wasn’t happy at all had a curry witch contained pink undercooked chicken didn’t expect this for the price of it they said they took the money of the bill which I checked and they didn’t my bill was 384 pound for 5 crap meals wouldn’t recommend

I was annoyingly let down in the last minute by another restaurant that I had pre-booked in the area. I needed to rebook elsewhere at short notice and stumbled across MemSaab on OpenTable. Thankfully they had a table for 3 and I booked it without having any expectations not having been there before. The restaurant is clean, spacious and the staff very friendly. We were greeted by super friendly staff. The food we ordered was excellent and we had a great evening overall. I will definitely come back.

When arriving we were quickly shown to our table. The girl who took our order wasn’t a very warming person but a little on the abrupt side. The dish I wanted was chicken thigh meat and I asked if this could be changed to chicken breast. I always have chicken Khari with chicken beast meat in many restaurants. When asking if this could be changed to breast she said she would check with the chef as it wasn’t on the menu, this was ok but it was her attitude, made us feel like we were putting her out. Disappointed with the size of the nan bread considering the price. Rather than the normal size nan (dinner plate) it was the size of a saucer. It was cold. I addressed the waiter and he didn’t seem bothered when I mentioned the size but did bring an extra nan bread. When paying top end prices you expect quality and quantity. We eat at numerous Indian restaurants and have never had a nan bread so small. Unfortunately the lady in the red dress and the gent that visit the tables never came to ours which leads me to believe it’s all a set up. Seems strange two unhappy customers were never confronted by these two very important looking people but just seem to address the happier customers as they know they will have more positive feedback back. Disappointed wouldn’t recommend but it’s personal choice. Go and check out for yourselves.

I’m a man who holds a grudge. I had a bad experience here in 1992 so I’ve boycotted it pretty much ever since. Can I just say that it’s probably been my loss. I’ve been venturing back over the last year or so and it’s now my favourite curry spot out of the half dozen or so restaurants on Maid Marian Way. Last night the service was perfect and the food sublime. I had the tandoori combination and it was spectacular. Spot on!

For me, the best Indian restaurant in Nottingham and I’ve been to them all. The Lamb Biriani is the best ever. Lovely atmosphere, service exceptional.

I've lived in Nottingham for many years and MemSaab remains my go-to place for excellent, authentic Indian freshly made food 😋 The Saag aloo is just perfect 😇

Past this place for years as I'm a lifelong Nottingham resident, always assumed it'll to Fine for my taste buds However 15 of us went >in short I'd say it doesn't cater for the ethnic groups, from the point where you have a sarcastic bloke taking the order to being served Luke warm food > even after asking for he spice level to be increased to suit my palate , I'm dashed out food that felt like it'd had sat waiting before it got to my table Out of the several dishes ordered by the non-veg eating group just 2 I'd say we're OK to be re ordered if I had the misfortune to visit this place again In short , there are many , I Repeat Many places Gar better in the food the served n the manner in which they cater for their customers This , is definitely Not id recommend to My friends, especially those of colour As highlighted by many other reviews previously ( I hadn't taken notice n decided I'd go, should relied on those reviews)

I had visited Memsaab once before with friends and had been keen to revisit with my partner and family, and this visit didn’t disappoint! We all ordered different starters and mains and we were all very pleased with what we received. The menu is varied and was nice to see a Goan Fish Curry included on the menu! The staff were friendly and attentive and overall the setting of the restraint was very pleasant. We are all excited to return to Memsaab when we can!

My partner and I visited for our anniversary. We were returning customers and knew that it would exceed our expectations and suit our occasion. We had excellent service and a complimentary dessert. We shared a goan fish curry which was exceptional, enjoyed a glass of red wine and thoroughly enjoyed the calm and comforting atmosphere. The servers are incredibly polite, professional and attentive, surprising us with a delicious cheesecake with added sparklers for effect. Would highly recommend this restaurant to all. Enjoy!

Felt like the best Indian in Nottingham. Really fresh ingredients used in the dips as well with fresh poppadoms. Excellent sag panneer, lacha paratha and lucknowi lamb biriyani. Great atmosphere and good service too. Will be back for sure

Opulent interior and superb service for me, were the best features of this restaurant. The food for us, as a party of 5, was hit and miss. My lamb dish was superb - plentiful and succulent chunks of meat in a tasty sauce. However, two of our party opted for the chicken tikka masala, which both remarked on its bland flavour and tough chicken. I had to ask for my pint of Kingfisher to be topped up to give a full pint measure, which is a little annoying. My pet hate is, this is yet another restaurant that includes service charge in the bill. Usually, I have no qualms telling them to remove it, but in this restaurant, as the service was excellent, we paid it. Because of the poor meals we had, we probably wouldn’t return.

Amazing Indian restaurant. The service is just fantastic. The waiters gave us hot towels before ordering. The dishes were amazing, the lamb handi was so tasty and the portions were great. I will just add that one rice is plenty for two. The staff are very well presented and attentive, and this is definitely somewhere I would go to eat again.

Ordered food from Deliveroo. The garlic naan was rubbery and there was no garlic in it. Completely tasteless.Even the main dishes weren't that good. When I called to complain the person on call was extremely rude.

Ordered for an online delivery, but very disappointed. Food was half an hour late, after I had called the restaurant for an update. No apology. Food arrived cold and bland. Fortunately, I had a discount code but definitely would not order from there again and pay their actual prices.

They maintain their high standards; as far as the food is concerned it is easily the best Indian subcontinent cuisine restaurant in Nottingham, which is a competitive area; the added value of polite and informed servers makes it for a relaxed evening; they get the balance right between looking after you, yet affording you privacy

Disappointing food. Eaten there before and was delighted. Goan fish curry was bland, butter chicken was ok but not great, veggie curry comprised some fresh veg but also a lot of potatoes and some frozen peas. Even naan did not seem that fresh. Did not complain on the night as just wanted to eat and get home. So staff did not, in all fairness, have chance to remedy the situation. No hot towels at the end of the evening - poor given we eat the breads with our fingers. It is not cheap to eat here and I expected much better.

We order from MemSaab all the time and the food is always delicious and fabulous every single time. Always consistent and made to a very high quality. Definitely recommend.

Tricky one to review. Place - lovely Service - great Food - as we were part of a larger group I got to try several dishes. I felt all of the dishes focused on heat (from chilli powder) rather than authentic dishes I have tasted recently. My butter chicken, predominantly was just heat I struggled to enjoy the flavour. A friends lamb curry again was too hot, couldn’t taste the curry and the lamb wasn’t rendered enough so all I got was a mouth full of chewy meat and I love lamb so was disappointed. I also think the starters were very small for the price and again too much heat ruining the flavours. Price - we did have a few drinks and this worked out to be £142 per couple. Did I feel this was value for money - no I’m afraid not. Would I return - unfortunately not, for me curry’s now should be about authentic tasty food, not over powering heat and for this price point I think the food is letting this establishment down. Another couple of points - a few sound deadening panels wouldn’t go a miss, at several points in the evening I was struggling to hear the person next to me. We were also saddened as a group that a solider with 25 years served for his country wasn’t offered any discount (after we made management aware)

This is right opposite the Park Plaza in Nottingham where we were staying and wow so glad. we went for dinner there ! It’s a step up from other Indian Restaurants with a brilliant attention to detail ! Doesn’t have a huge menu because everything is fresh, serving the option of dish of the day, which is a speciality dish which for us was a chicken and spinach dish and absolutely amazing. Poppadoms and pickles were amazing as was the Peshawar Nan. I would also recommend a sweet - lots of options which is unusual for an Indian Restaurant - I especially enjoyed the Baileys Cheesecake😂 Staff were attentive and professional. A definite recommendation !

We got there just before 10pm and were seated. When the member of staff came to take our order he told us to hurry up because the kitchen closes in 5 mins. Ok so we ordered 3 meals and 3 drinks. The food came within minutes (quicker than McDonalds !) We ate. Then the bill came £106. 1 starter, 3 mains, 3 naan breads, 1 rice, 3 pints. We hadnt asked for the bill. No offer of desert or coffee. Just eat up. Pay and go home. I did point this out but no-one gave a crap. Upshot is. If you want a good curry, go to CUMIN down the road. The food is way better and they are way more friendly.

Best Indian cuisine in Nottingham

First visit to the wonderful MemSaab last week. Food, service, venue- all first rate! Highly recommended!

We were not disappointed, the food was excellent, the service from all the staff was so attentive and the atmosphere was welcoming, with all sorts of different groups in the restaurant on a Friday night. An outstanding meal with the perfect waiting staff. The food was absolutely amazing we will certainly be back. A beautiful restaurant with so much attention to detail. The atmosphere was lovely. The best Indian ever and we have an excellent one back home in Kenilworth.

Great place to eat vegetarian food. More veg options would be good. Very nice atmosphere and amazing service. We had a few of us who had special dietary requirements and all was taken care of, though we had checked before we visited. Definitely coming back!!

I came here after visiting friends who lived in the area. The food here is really good with big portions of food! The staff are really nice and gave us warm towels to wipe our hands on. I had the mixed vegetables and they were really good and the garlic naan and pilau rice were also amazing! I had the coconut dream for dessert and that is really yummy as well. I will definitely come here again if I am ever in the area!

Amita (Prop) & her team run by by far the finest Indian fine dining in the East Midlands. The ambiance is first class & everything is supremely professional. Of course the cuisine quality is excellent & the presentation of a high order.

Went here for a meal with work colleagues and reserved a table for 7 in advance. We were met by the concierge and seated straight away. Meal was sharing platters for starters (meat, fish and veggie platters). Also a tandoori ostrich which was unusual. Mains were a selection of the plates. Highly recommend Chicken Karahi (desi style) and the Nizami lamb. We also had delicious Desserts, I recommend the Pistachio Kulfi and the Rasmalai. Total bill was £400 (£59pp) which included several rounds of drinks. Had a 10% service charge added to the bill, but the serving staff were polite, efficient and helpful.

top place, been there with my wife. Some delicious food we had mutton biryani, prawns papadoms with chutney ect. I cannot say its an expensive restaurant looking at their quality overall. The only thing,,the service could ask if we wanted some water until we ordering. It would be just nice and welcoming since there will be added 10% service charge on the bill.

Decided to try Mem Saab as a treat based on reputation. This was a last minute decision so had not booked in advance. Happily we were accommodated and I must say the service was exceptional. However, the food can only be described as standard at best - my chicken tikka could only be compared to Heinz tomato soup with a very small portion of chicken added which was a huge disappointment considering the price. In addition the price of one large glass of wine at £11 was high. Sadly will not be making a return visit and have experienced a far better standard of curry in other Nottingham restaurants

Staff were very friendly & attentive. I ordered the vegetable biryani which came covered with a sort of wheat pancake- a first for me! It was a nice dish but I’ve better biryanis.

What a brilliant Indian restaurant. You will not be disappointed. We had a shared starter and lamb chops to start, amazing. Lam chops were really tender and full of flavour. We each had a different curry for mains, my dish of the day was amazing, lamb Balti and chicken chilli were also fantastic. Well done Memsab.

Booked for a group of 15, paid £150 deposit for it. 2 couldn't make it on the day so 13 arrived on the nice. We spent £500 (including 10% service charge) at the restaurant. Unfortunately despite the big spend, and the restaurant not full on a weekday night, they decided to charge us £20 for the 2 no-show. Ruined our evening.

This has to be one of the best places to have actually good authentic Indian food in the UK. Every small bit from the starters to the final morsel was flavourful and sensory. Recommending at least one visit for everyone reading this review.

28.05.2024 We were eyeing this restaurant from a long time and finally we made it. The best service I have ever experienced to add to the tasty food and lovely ambience. The place is huge and can accommodate more that 200 people. The interiors are beautiful. The lighting is very nice and the table setting is awesome. no wornder the restaurant has wom many awards. We ordered for Lahori Lamb Chops, Tandoori Ostrich, JChilli Prawn Salad, French Fries and not to forget cocktails and Beers. Every order was quick and tasty. I am amazed by their super quick service as if they are reading our minds. To our surprise they also served a cake to celebrate our birthday. With super quick and excellent service a great place to dine, has left us with a very memorable experience.

Having been to MemSaab a few times I expected the food, drink, service and surroundings to be excellent and that's exactly what they were. We were I think the last people to leave the restaurant yet there was no sign of impatience from the wonderful staff. Will definitely go again but try to let the staff go home sooner in future!!

This was a lovely atmosphere on Valentine’s Day, however we were extremely disappointed with the service we received from one waitress in particular. The manger and our other waiter were lovely, however the evening was spoilt by one waitress. She threw down our cutlery and did not say two words to us whilst serving. We constantly received dirty looks from her, and it was a very hostile environment. We were wondering if it was homophobic reaction. We were definitely looking to come again, but we would be interesting in seeing how the restaurant would resolve this problem.

Team Memsaab truly made my mum's 60th birthday celebration an unforgettable experience! It was a private event and the venue ambience perfectly complemented the Bollywood-Diva theme, setting the stage for an enchanting evening. The buffet at Memsaab was a gastronomic delight, offering a lavish spread of flavorful dishes that catered to every taste bud. The curated all-vegetarian menu ensured that every guest found something to relish. And amidst the abundance of options, the dessert (Gajar Halwa) stood out as a sweet finale that left everyone craving for more. Their chai is one of the best in town and I will be coming back for more (and more). What truly set Memsaab apart was the impeccable service provided by the staff, especially Mr. Sudheer, whose dedication and assistance in planning the surprise (over a period of 2 weeks) and executing the event ensured its grand success. Fire curry, great night would recommend

Food is tasty, but waaay overpriced. Felt like we weren't welcome because everything came out so fast. They wanted us gone, at least that's what it felt like. Last time we'll be going there, better priced places that are nicer in Nottingham.

Weekend away and so pleased we booked at Memsaab. Staff were friendly and food was amazing. We will book again next time we visit Nottingham.

We had the early dinner choice. It was very nice. Butter chicken was yum. A bit spicy but very flavoursome. The service was good. This is a classy place and I liked it.

Although the restaurant is huge, it is broken into smaller areas and hasn’t lost its intimacy. Service was friendly and not at all rushed. Menu choice wasn’t extensive but there was plenty to choose from. Food was excellent and we will keep returning.

Service was excellent with some special touches ( warm flannels upon being seated at the table for example) . Very good quality food which is presented beautifully. Perhaps tables were a little close to each other to give the restaurant the total luxury feel.

Well, to be blunt the food was bland and overpriced. I have poppadoms, pakora starter, naan, saag aloo, and lamb as a main, the only thing which tasted nice was the lamb. Everything else was overcooked, the flavours were very one dimensional.

I visit frequently with my husband and this place never disappoints. It’s outstanding on every level and every detail.
