My favourite place for lunch!!!I absolutely love the new menu!!!flatbread with lamb kofta is my new favourite!Simply delicious!!

Food was absolute garbage: reheated or deep fried frozen fare. Service was slow and so overall a very disappointing experience. Saving grace is that it is a pub with character.

Their steak pie was the BEST thing I've eaten on my trip to London. The restaurant is quite large and every single table had a great ambience. On less busy days, you can pick a table to sit at and order at the bar. I still dream about this pie. Crutched Friar will be the first place I visit when I return to London

We dropped in while in the area without booking ahead. A good range of foods at fair price for London. Served by Ross who was friendly, chatted & offered suggestions for places to visit & was very efficient. Good arrived in good time.

A great place for beer and food after work.

Another great evening in this pub just hidden behind the Hilton near Trinity Square and Tower of London. Service, as always, exceptional. On this occasion I pre-booked the time of the meal to be delivered as I was meeting a friend. Food fresh and well presented. The lady who serviced me could not do enough for us, neither could the waiter. If you are in this area it is well worth a visit. So reasonable priced for the area. Great atmosphere

My wife and I went to Crutched Friar recently for Saturday lunch. Nice large location including outdoor seating. The service was awesome. Bartender was very helpful and friendly. Order at the bar and food will be delivered to you. The food was solid but we chose the wrong items. There are some chef specials but we chose off the menu. We will be back and order different items.

Great fish and chips, loved the tartare sauce. The chicken wings were so tasty and the girls working here are really friendly and helpful 😊

I stopped by this pub for a quiet drink by myself and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent service, despite the pub being very busy. A staff member named Helena was particularly noteworthy—she was incredibly attentive, helpful, and kind to both myself and other patrons. She worked efficiently and tirelessly throughout my visit. The pub has a lovely, cozy atmosphere that made for a very enjoyable experience.

Visited here 24.07.24, around 7pm. Waited patiently to be served and this bar person, having seen me waiting, ignored me and served somebody else who just arrived. I said "actually, I was next". The other customer conceded but this miserable person treated me with such disdain. I countered that by being over polite. Who employs these people? Clearly not compatible with hospitality or common decency.

Love this pub .. friendly team and lovely atmosphere

(We popped in for a drink on a Friday afternoon, after the Tower of London.) The house red was decent, and there lots of space, divided into areas which made it cosy and quiet. The bar staff were lovely.

If you're visiting the Tower of London, as we were, or are just in the area and are looking for an authentic pub experience nearby, then look no further than Crutched Friar. The food was reasonably priced, high quality, and with good portion sizes, which is amazing, as it's hard to find somewhere that ticks all of those boxes in London. Atmosphere was what you'd expect from a busy British pub at lunchtime, but that's exactly what we wanted. Felt very much like a local establishment, and not a tourist trap. The service from Ed was absolutely top notch, give that man a raise! Strongly recommend the vegan cheesecake, it was delicious.

Maybe it's not a restauration, but when I ordered tea and received it without any saucer, not to mention the lemon. The bartender was very busy, although there was little traffic, food had to be ordered at the bar. Overall very good food and location. Quiet music so you can talk quietly. I recommend it to people who want to eat good fish and chips!!!

The first time I have visited this pub. It was welcoming and quaint, with a small but perfectly formed courtyard garden. The staff were lovely and friendly. My husband and I ordered Mushroom Wellington and Shin beef on the bone. Both dishes had a perfectly cooked variety of vegetables with very tasty gravy. We would definately recommend and will come back in the near future.

Had an amazing time here, big thanks to Shan who went the extra mile for us to have an incredible night, the group will be returning again soon

Central London, exorbitant rents, poor pubs as a result. Chips were ok, but hard to go wrong, garlic bread miss-sold as "fluffy bloomer" when what you got was sliced, seeded Hovis. Beer was fine. Service was nice. All in all, a place to sit in the warmth and give the kids some chips on a dreary Saturday. A great building missing the opportunity to create a great and homely pub.

The location is fab though right next to Fenchurch Street Station. The pies just a tad overpriced I think. Thanks for the hospitality.

Good beer, good craic and amazing staff! I think the managers name was Sam, he is an absolute credit to this place and he seriously went above and beyond helping us however he could. Would definitely recommend this pub to anyone!

Really great pub with solid pub food and good range of beers on tap. Staff are always friendly and attentive even when it's busy. This could easily fall into being a tourist trap being opposite the double tree and so close to the Tower but it keeps its independent local vibe even if it isn't!

Came here for dinner with my girlfriend. We were served by the lovely Samantha who could not have been more helpful. The food was absolutely delicious and we will definitely be back in the near future 😁

Visited on a Saturday afternoon, quiet as you would expect in the City. Lovely pub, lots of references to the history of the area. Personal favourite is the entrance, walkway towards the bar with seating to the left and the right.

Went for a lunch time catch up with colleagues. Great choice with our little one as they have baby changing facilities and even allowed us to bring our 2 little dogs! Zoe and the team ensured we were looked after with all our needs. Fab little space and nice friendly atmosphere.

While out with some friends we came across this unique little pub and decided to pop in for a drink and maybe some food, the place is a lot bigger than it looks from the out side, the beer was nice and cold but we are definitely coming back for the FOOD, we all got the steak sandwich with caramelized onions with chips on the side, perfectly cooked and definitely hit the spot.

Sadly, nothing to like about this place. We waited a very long time for our meals, despite the place being less than half full. And when they arrived we were underwhelmed by our meals. The 'award winning' pie was dry/ overcooked and the mashed potato was like dry cement.

Overall, I had higher expectations, but they weren't fully met. Staff were okay but not overly helpful. The food had elements that were nice but some not so much. Mashed potatoes were a weird consistency for the lamb and sausage dishes and things under seasoned. I did like the fish from the fish and chips and their mint peas. Cocktails are also very pricey but good selection of beers.

A really nice pub that is tucked away in a back street to the east of the city. Quite a large space inside and I got a table easily. We ordered food and it took a while to come. We were just thinking of asking where the food was when it appeared. Worth the wait though, I had the steak and venison pie and it was a pure delight, light pastry with a good filling of very tender meat. My friend had the sausage and mash, which he also thought was delicious. They served a good range of beers and wines too. Well worth a visit.

Avoid This pub needs to be avoided terribly service and the food was the worst meal out I have had for a long while. We went to bar to order our meals all four ordered a starter and main. When the food came it was all brought out at the same time, who wants to eat a starter and main in one go. Told the lady and she said that’s normal, staff seemed not bothered at all, what came was cold mussels undercooked vegetables and with the pie weird tasting mash. No one else in the restaurant eating even on a Friday night it’s no wonder, as it’s awful they even had made us pay up front. Didn’t even offer to refund us or a drink, What a disappointment as there is so many good restaurants and pubs in the area, only went here because of good reviews on Trip Advisor makes me very wary in the future if I can believe them

Good atmosphere, and I go for the wide selection of well kept real ale. But here's my beef. I go to pay the bill. The machine asks if I want to add a gratuity. I've been to the bar each round as there is no table service, there's no advice about the beer, the glasses build up on the table, when glasses are collected the table is not wiped. So I say no gratuity and pay the bill. But when I get the bill it includes 12.5% service charge. And I could have added gratuity on top of service. This is bad and all too prevalent. The beer is good, but not that good. I'm voting with my feet and my wallet. Keep your eyes open.

A hot chicken sandwich with chips and a coke for £10 a bargain. Gets busy most lunchtimes and evenings.

We ate here our third night in London, and our last. We wanted good, hearty food in a laid-back atmosphere, and we had the best time. The staff were wonderful, our food was absolutely to die for, and it's just around the corner from the Cheval 3 Quays, which is where we stayed.

Noisy garden....sounded like some sort of air extractor running next door. Shame. A little slow to be acknowledged at the bar too.

We have really enjoyed this local pub. Great atmosphere and wonderful people. We met Tia who works the bar and she is very friendly and made our visit even better. Will definitely be back.

So here's another pub to check out, particularly if you are interested in savouring a selection of guest ales, the like of which you'll struggle to find outside London. From my initial welcome by the friendly down-to-earth Sam to the outstanding service from Martin, I thoroughly enjoyed my evening here, albeit unusually quietly owing to a train strike. There is an abundance of lovely and comfortable places to sit that render you immersed in local history, of which I hope that you will experience a flavour from my photos. Having walked past this venue many times on my way to Towe Hill Station, I was glad that I seized the opportunity to visit. Unashamedly, I finished my meal with a sweet scone sundae, layered with vanilla ice cream, a sweet savoury cherry 🍒 compote, clotted cream, strawberries 🍓 and whipped cream. Strange, isn't it, that we Londoners, rush to and from our daily commute, without visiting the rich heritage right under our noses...

Tia was the most amazing and helpful server. Her recommendation for dinner was spot on! Amazing food! We even ordered a sweet after the unbelievable beef dip pastrami sandwich special….we tried the Bread Pudding Fingers which were truly decadent!

Had a great afternoon here, thoroughly enjoyed sitting in the garden enjoying the sun with some tasty food. Would highly recommend this place if you looking for garden drinks

Been coming here for years, longer than the bar staff have been alive, worked in the city for a good few decade, had the worst experience ever last night from rude bar staff who were not there to serve, were there to chat to their mates who clearly don’t work in London cos they would have recognised a fellow city worker. Last night both me and the girls I was with were invisible to the bar staff, two young girls who work there, one with dyed red hair, another girl who works there on a regular basis. Moody as anything! You work in the service industry, start serving, especially the regulars! It wasn’t even busy! The last lot of staff were very nice, this lot, terrible!

Used to be my work local over 7 years ago, it has massively gone downhill since COVID. The prices have shot up, almost as expensive as the brewdog down the round. The worst part is the staff that have been hired, they're all nice and pleasant but they're so slow. They can only make one drink at a time. When the bar can have about 100 people at lunchtime on a Thursday and you're watching them pour one individual beer at a time..... Garden is looking more and more ropey day by day. A lot of the regulars are now going elsewhere and will continue to do so until this has been addressed

We went here for a late lunch and it was great. 6 people, seated immediately, with very friendly service. Reasonably priced. Would recommend if you're in that area and looking for a bite

Friendly and very attentive staff, despite it being very busy, I could only imagine how overwhelming it must be for them on the other side of the bar, especially with all the thirsty suits. However this did not impact our time there we had a good laugh everytime we came up to the bar! Thanks to everyone working yesterday!
