Friendly team and great service

I really loved this place, I decided to have lunch here while looking for somewhere to eat something vegan. I saw a review that mentioned a vegan burger and I wanted to try it. The burger was amazing and the beer as well! I'll come here for sure next time I'm in town, I can't wait to try some more beers. Special mention to the service, everyone was super kind ♥

Food was just about ok. Steak was very chewy even though I ordered medium rare.

I booked a table about 20 minutes before. To have food, I had the fish and chips the fish was crispy and meaty. I have salted caramel cheesecake The taste was to die for amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! The service was good. It was busy but where I was seated had a calm and relaxed atmosphere

Decent pub. Plenty of space, reasonable service. The place has a hint of history but is also modern enough. 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. 👍🏼

The service was a little surly, but the space makes up for it. In the area, it feels a bit unique. As you walk in, it's bifurcated into two halves. The bar is straight ahead. The beer on this day was nearly completely IPA, which is a no go for me. The burger was fulfilling with a small number of chips. That was a little light to be honest.

Just a nice friendly run of the Mill pub it’s actually quite large with lots of different sections and an outdoors as well. I believe they do painting classes there from time to time so add a bit of variety.

Was really hoping for a good pub grub experience and was recommended here, but this was so disappointing. I came solo early evening for dinner (18:30). Tried to order the Burrata, but they were out. Ordered the soup special instead and the fish and chips. After waiting 30 min, I asked when my soup would be ready. Was told I was next order and it would be out in under 5 min. 10 min later it still hadn’t arrived. When my order did arrive, the soup and entree came at the same time. Fish and chips were over cooked. I was then told no takeaway containers because they didn’t arrive in a shipment, so my food went cold before I could finish. Asked ti chat with manager. Another 20 min went by. By the time she arrived, I said don’t worry about it as I could tell it would be futile. She walked away, unconcerned. They were training a new bar tender, so maybe short staffed in the kitchen too. Really unpleasant experience.

Fish and chips are delicious. The atmosphere is nice and the bathroom is clean.

Fantastic pub in the middle of the city. Great guinness and Ed in particular was great! Highly recommend for anyone in the area--a real gem that you don't often find in this part of London.

Great place for lunch (had the chicken Caesar salad and not bad at all) nice music playing creating good atmosphere. Lovely pub. Possibly gets very busy and noisy after 1700 people finishing work.

Made a reservation but at arrival they were closing. Nobody let us know...

We booked our table in advance, and were told our food would take c.30m to arrive. The food eventually came after c.1hr of waiting and having to remind the bar staff. Once the food eventually arrived, the mains were cold and starters were lukewarm. Additionally, our steak order was missing a peppercorn sauce. We were told it was on its way but left since we all finished our food and the sauce was still not prepared. Overall, an abysmal experience. Would not recommend at all, especially for food.

Just too busy, other than it is great service and food

El Crutched Fraile está a unos cinco minutos a pie de Tower Hill Underground y es por lo tanto una buena ubicación de fácil acceso El menú es excelente y el servicio era excelente, eso es excelente! Llegamos temprano y mientras esperaban nuestros amigos fueron servidos en la mesa de una manera eficiente, pero no intrusiva. La comida estaba bien cocinada, y entregada rápidamente y, supongo que lo más importante, sabrosa. Sustituimos algunos elementos en el menú (patatas fritas por patatas fritas ordinarias, por ejemplo) y esto no fue un problema y se hizo sin problemas. Este es sin duda uno de los lugares a los que no dudaría en volver.

It just badly managed over the holiday with how they take bookings and the table timings.. good to go for a drink but not recommended to go as a group... Maybe it was the situation but my experience was that some of the staff were not understanding and unappreciative and rude and unreasonable... Again it could just be the pressure of the overbooking and poor planning so wii try not to take it personally but isn't that the job. The place has a good vibe . Avoid rush hour, thursdays and group parties. The food was ok but we were waiting over an hour and some of it arrived 20 mins before our booking slot ended and they didn't care and said u have 20mins to finish, not our problem...

We came for a Christmas lunch with the team. Food was average. The service was horrible. Waited 2 hours for our dessert.

El personal era muy servicial y amable (lo siento, me olvidé de sus nombres, pero era 2 chicos y una chica que estaban trabajando 1 pm espacio) . El servicio era genial, la comida era genial, y se divirtió. Sin duda lo recomendaría para grupos e individuos por igual.

Food acceptable but very slow to arrive

If kids are welcome update your website. Website clearly states kids are welcome. We come in for dinner at 6pm on Saturday and are turned away because my 13y is with us.

We came here quick after touring the Tower of London and truly wish we had more time. Great beer selections, but the Hot Mulled wine was amazing on a rainy day. We ordered the chili sausage, fondue and rarebit- which were all delicious (the rarebit was very truffley)

Food was absolute garbage: reheated or deep fried frozen fare. Service was slow and so overall a very disappointing experience. Saving grace is that it is a pub with character.

Their steak pie was the BEST thing I've eaten on my trip to London. The restaurant is quite large and every single table had a great ambience. On less busy days, you can pick a table to sit at and order at the bar. I still dream about this pie. Crutched Friar will be the first place I visit when I return to London

We dropped in while in the area without booking ahead. A good range of foods at fair price for London. Served by Ross who was friendly, chatted & offered suggestions for places to visit & was very efficient. Good arrived in good time.

A great place for beer and food after work.

Another great evening in this pub just hidden behind the Hilton near Trinity Square and Tower of London. Service, as always, exceptional. On this occasion I pre-booked the time of the meal to be delivered as I was meeting a friend. Food fresh and well presented. The lady who serviced me could not do enough for us, neither could the waiter. If you are in this area it is well worth a visit. So reasonable priced for the area. Great atmosphere

My wife and I went to Crutched Friar recently for Saturday lunch. Nice large location including outdoor seating. The service was awesome. Bartender was very helpful and friendly. Order at the bar and food will be delivered to you. The food was solid but we chose the wrong items. There are some chef specials but we chose off the menu. We will be back and order different items.

Great fish and chips, loved the tartare sauce. The chicken wings were so tasty and the girls working here are really friendly and helpful 😊

I stopped by this pub for a quiet drink by myself and was pleasantly surprised by the excellent service, despite the pub being very busy. A staff member named Helena was particularly noteworthy—she was incredibly attentive, helpful, and kind to both myself and other patrons. She worked efficiently and tirelessly throughout my visit. The pub has a lovely, cozy atmosphere that made for a very enjoyable experience.

Visited here 24.07.24, around 7pm. Waited patiently to be served and this bar person, having seen me waiting, ignored me and served somebody else who just arrived. I said "actually, I was next". The other customer conceded but this miserable person treated me with such disdain. I countered that by being over polite. Who employs these people? Clearly not compatible with hospitality or common decency.

Love this pub .. friendly team and lovely atmosphere

(We popped in for a drink on a Friday afternoon, after the Tower of London.) The house red was decent, and there lots of space, divided into areas which made it cosy and quiet. The bar staff were lovely.

If you're visiting the Tower of London, as we were, or are just in the area and are looking for an authentic pub experience nearby, then look no further than Crutched Friar. The food was reasonably priced, high quality, and with good portion sizes, which is amazing, as it's hard to find somewhere that ticks all of those boxes in London. Atmosphere was what you'd expect from a busy British pub at lunchtime, but that's exactly what we wanted. Felt very much like a local establishment, and not a tourist trap. The service from Ed was absolutely top notch, give that man a raise! Strongly recommend the vegan cheesecake, it was delicious.

Maybe it's not a restauration, but when I ordered tea and received it without any saucer, not to mention the lemon. The bartender was very busy, although there was little traffic, food had to be ordered at the bar. Overall very good food and location. Quiet music so you can talk quietly. I recommend it to people who want to eat good fish and chips!!!

The first time I have visited this pub. It was welcoming and quaint, with a small but perfectly formed courtyard garden. The staff were lovely and friendly. My husband and I ordered Mushroom Wellington and Shin beef on the bone. Both dishes had a perfectly cooked variety of vegetables with very tasty gravy. We would definately recommend and will come back in the near future.

Had an amazing time here, big thanks to Shan who went the extra mile for us to have an incredible night, the group will be returning again soon

Central London, exorbitant rents, poor pubs as a result. Chips were ok, but hard to go wrong, garlic bread miss-sold as "fluffy bloomer" when what you got was sliced, seeded Hovis. Beer was fine. Service was nice. All in all, a place to sit in the warmth and give the kids some chips on a dreary Saturday. A great building missing the opportunity to create a great and homely pub.

The location is fab though right next to Fenchurch Street Station. The pies just a tad overpriced I think. Thanks for the hospitality.
