The Crown Pub And Grill in Southwark

My friends and I recently held our birthday at The Crown. Laura and her team were fantastic. I would definitely recommend the venue for your private events.

My fiancé and I hosted our engagement party at The Crown last week and couldn't be happier with our choice! The pictures online don't do this beautiful pub justice – it's even more stunning in person. Laura and her team were absolutely amazing from start to finish. They were so accommodating and made sure everything ran smoothly. Plus, the drinks prices were incredibly reasonable, which was a huge bonus for our guests. They especially loved the 3 shots for £10 deal! Our friends and family had an absolute blast, and we've already had several people tell us they're thinking about having their own parties at The Crown. We can't recommend this venue enough

I work for a local charity called Safer London and we hosted a pub quiz fundraising evening at The Crown last week. Laura and her team were absolutely amazing during the whole planning process and during the event itself. They were so positive and supportive, which helped it to be a great success! The pub was a perfect size for hosting around 50 people with great facilities. The bar staff were friendly and willing to help. We couldn’t thank Laura more and everyone at The Crown more!!

Had such a great experience here yesterday. Olivia was extremely helpful and knowledgable about the beers on offer. Very impressed.

Lovely pub just up the road from me never been in before but I will definitely return. Great service and played some decent music.

Sister pub of the camel and artichoke on lower Marsh Street,same lovely staff and management team and great to see a small business doing well.great place and good garden.no food atm..but it's coming soon!

This is a nice little pub located on Blackfriars Road near Webber Street. Great selection of beers, nice atmosphere, and beer garden. Unfortunately it's only open on weekdays as the majority of their business is from the local office rather than local residents.

Nice looking pub. Went on a Monday and was very quiet. Main issue we waited ~10 mins for bartender to come out from the back despite there being other customer there. Not sure what they were doing but almost left. Looks like a theme in other reviews.

I visited the pub, it was empty. No staff, no customers. I waited for some staff to arrive Had a wander around Waited some more for some staff to arrive. Looked outside the back window as I thought I saw vape smoke. Might be some staff. Alas it was a vent omitting steam. Still no staff. Waited some more and decided I would visit a pub with some staff. You may want to try a pub where you can actually buy something.

We went on a quiet day, so it's hard to rate the atmosphere, but it's usually busy when I've been past. The bar staff are awesome, though. Very welcoming. Didn't serve food, so I can't comment.

I loved the ones ambiance ! We came with lots of friends and the service was great! They were in the early Christmas spirit, the customers were nice, the service was fast and the place is easy to find. It’s also a very recommended spot!

Nice little bar, proper pub, halfway to the Elephant. Looks like it housed some old school gangsters back in the day..but now a normal London boozer. Oh and slightly cheaper than those up the road closer to the Thames

Nice pub for a drink. They didn't have food on the Tuesday night when we arrived late in the evening (2130), but that isn't atypical. Just noting in case you are looking for food quite late. Service was great - only 1 working, but that was enough.

Quite a simple pub just a little away from the hustle and bustle of the Southbank. The beer selection is pretty good with some special guests such as Poretti and Budvar on tap at quite reasonable prices for the area. The bar lady was also quite friendly. There’s a small outdoor space out back and some seating out front where there’s hours of entertainment watching cyclists break every rule in the book. Probably best to keep an eye on your gear if out front through given the locals! No reflection on the pub though which is perfectly adequate.

We're a mix race group of friends so the barman (to be precise, the white barman working at 16:00 on Friday 18th of August 2023 ) letting us know that he is a big fan of UKIP and that his least favourite colour is brown was not appropriate and was very obviously a attempt at making my friend feel unwelcome. I would suggest maybe a different approach to recruitment as hospitality obviously isn't the right job for everyone. We couldn't help but notice as we left that it was the only pub in the area that was not busy on a Friday night. If this is the environment that is acceptable then I'm not surprised.

Nice for a drink after work, didn't try the food.

We booked our baby shower at this venue. What a fantastic day for our friends and family to celebrate. Laura and Ellie went above and beyond from start to finish. We would highly recommend booking for a venue. Thanks again to you all, we will be definitely be booking again in the future.

Great pub, brilliant atmosphere, the staff are amazing so friendly and welcoming they make it what it is.

Fine as a run of the mill pub. I couldn't see any Ale on offer, just appeared to be standard beers available.

Traditional pub, good for a drink after work. They have a small beer garden, and tables at the front on the pavement, so it's nice in summer. Staff was friendly and the atmosphere was relaxed. Everyone has a nice time.

Tuve una fiesta de cumpleaños aquí recientemente. Jess y su equipo fueron extremadamente amables y positivos de antemano en cuanto a la contratación del lugar, la organización de la comida y la logística, etc., y tan amables y encantadores en la noche. También fue una fantástica relación calidad-precio dado el espacio y la forma en que teníamos todo el lugar en exclusiva. No podría haber deseado una mejor noche. ¡Todo funcionó como un reloj!

Fuimos a las 5 de la tarde y nos atendieron sin problemas. Las hamburguesas estaban muy buenas y precio aceptable. La camarera muy atenta y lugar agradable.

Nous sommes allés prendre une bière en fin d’après-midi dans cet établissement et avons été déçu. Pas d’ambiance, accueil assez strict, la bière était moyenne (Pale Ale Indienne), et le mieux manquait de charme. Nous avions l’impression l’espace d’un instant de ne plus être à Londres.

El gerente decidió hacer su contabilidad en la puerta de entrada, así que no quería que nadie se acercara. ¡Pero fue la puerta de entrada! Parecía un lugar razonable para esperar mientras mi esposa usaba el baño.

Bearing in mind the number in our party we were served quickly and efficiently. The food was freshly made and everyone enjoyed their lunch. Friendly staff. Set in a picturesque village complete with village pond. Ideal place to stop.

Not a bad pub, recently refurbished. Not much space inside if you wish to sit. The prices for drinks are quite high but I guess that it's expected in London. The staff were attentive and the atmosphere was fine.

Fue en el bar totalmente ignorado durante diez minutos.La mujer que supuestamente sirve para mirar a parecía como una irritación de los clientes,no puedo calificar la cerveza ya que me cansé de esperar y salí, nunca volver.Yo vivo localmente y siempre se preguntaba por qué todos los demás pubs estaban llenos y éste está vacío ahora sé!!Si yo fuera el dueño de este negocio me eche un vistazo a mi gestión, reclutamiento y capacitación de personal, porque estas personas que emplea están perdiendo un montón de negocios y dinero.

Séjour à Londres fin novembre 2015. Froid glacial avec vent du nord. Comme le pub est très près de notre hôtel, nous y allons à pied. Le pub a éét introuvable et nous avons longuement marché dans le froid pour rien. Le lendemain matin, au grand jour découverte qu'à'emplacement présumé du pub, il y a un immeuble en construction

Went to the Crown for a quick drink. Poor quality of cider and beer tasting of. Staff was polite, but would not go back. On the plus side there was a nice beer garden on in the back.

After a day long tour of London we had dinner at Doggetts Crown Pub and Grill on the bank of the Thames River. I told the waiter we were tourists and wanted a very authentic London dinner and a "pint. He made fantastic selection for us which were delicious. He even made a great selection of a traditional dessert which we had to split because the servings of the main course were so generous.. The service was superior, we were in the dining room that had a great atmosphere with the exception of one very loud patron, and the view was great.

Es el pub que elegi con mis amigas para tomar mi primer pinta en la ciudad. Como todos los pubs de londres es divino. Las cervezas no son tan caras. La variedad es infinita. La gente es copada pero no se relaciona mucho. Nadi te habla mucho ni se interesa por conocerte . Cada uno está en su mambo. El pub es un pub inglés bien típico pero no tiene nada característico que lo haga diverente. Es como todo pub inglés una cosa imposible de no visitar si estás en Londres.

Good pub with good selection of your high street beers to some that are more exotic.Ate their recently for first time.Burgers and seafood are also fair to good. Only criticism - the bar staff are nice enough, just a bit too soviet for my liking.

We often nip here on a lunch time and either have a meal (usually burger and chips) and a drink. The service is really friendly, the food is decent and they are quick to please. We've always had good experiences here.

We just stumbled upon this place and went in because they had a sign advertising pies for 6 pounds. We also wanted to have a classic london pub experience. The staff were inviting and patient with us as they explained how you order food at the bar. It was basically like eating in a living room for the community. You were welcome to stay as long as you want. The food was good (not gourmet by any stretch of the imagination), but authentic. Would recommend to fellow travelers.

Friendly staff but a large part of public area reserved for a small group(8 people) so limited seating. Thought expensive, food and wine.

If you're looking for something quick & simple, like a hot dog or a burger, and you're in the area, I would recommend a visit. The staff are very friendly. We stopped in again recently for a hot dog, but didn't see it on the menu like previous visits. We asked, and were told that the usual chef was away, so it wasn't on tthe menu that night. A couple of minutes later, someone came up to say that the chef would be happy to make it, if that's what we wanted. Now that's service! Glad we found this place, and no doubt we'll be back again soon!

While the food and drink were good the menu was very misleading. Apparently a pulled pork burger described as topped with pulled pork doesn't actually contain a buger and is in fact just a miniscule amount of pulled pork in a bun! On bringing this to the attention of the server I was told that thos was how it should be and that she was just in charge and didn't write the menu. In fairness I did extract a free pint from them as a half apology but doubt that they will change the menu wording to make it less misleading.

Went here last week for office lunch with colleagues. Love the burgers!! Good clean place with theatre kitchen, so you can see the chef cooking the food. Good service. A little bit pricy for a pub but everywhere in london seems to be over priced.

I recently went to the Crown with some colleagues from work and we will be avoiding the establishment in the future. There was six of us who sat down in the main bar, we waited for a substantial amount of time before our order was taken, and I felt that the waitress was pretty annoyed to see customers in the pub at all. In fact, for the duration of the meal I felt that the waitress saw us as an irritation to her afternoon and that she would rather not be there at all. The quality of the food was really poor. I went for the burger, which tasted like a 3am take away equivalent, with a small amount of side chips with no garnish.Others failed to finish their meals in the group and thought it was equally disappointing. If the food is rubbish, the staff could at least be kind and courteous as we did pay for the meal. The Crown couldn't even manage this small service to us.

Just been relieved of sixteen quid for a burger and a pint of shandy. Beer smelt funny and burger was awful. They even charged £2 extra for some garnish they described as salad. Left about half of everything, walked next door and bought a sandwich. Rank!

I hate it when pubs give themselves airs and graces, call themselves a 'Bar and Grill' and try to come across as a cool, upmarket 'gastro' pub with prices to match. The Crown's menu is limited, but the menu descriptions had obviously been written to raise expectations (and prices!)....The Fish Cake salad sounded fine, but what arrived was a couple of school-dinner standard, processed-slurry fishcakes and a salad that looked like it had been hanging around on a hot plate for a week. Poor! Poor! Poor! It's the kind of lazy, no-attention-to-quality that gets London a bad name..
