We had a big get together with friends and family at The Crown yesterday, which was our first visit for Sunday Lunch. The pub is really nicely decorated and created a lovely environment to enjoy a long and social lunch. The staff were really friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. We all enjoyed our roasts, the food was delicious with generous portions and beautifully presented. We all had a great time and we’ll definitely we back, thanks for looking after us so well.

This is a lovely pub with good service and it’s very nicely decorated. The food was very nice. I had the Sunday lunch which came out hot and the vegetables tasted great. The but roast was nice but a little mushy and the addition of the red sauce (cranberries?) all over it was a bit too much as the flavour of it was too strong and acidic. Some fresh dried cranberries or a cranberry jam or something would be better. Other than that the food was great all round. Hope they bring back the baked cheese sharer for autumn!

good food, great service, water on the table, lovely clean ambience. good beer, wine and tea. slightly more expensive than some other pubs, but can be justified in our experience by the superior level of service.

This is the second time I have visited with friends over the last 2 weeks. Since being refurbished it has improved greatly. I’ve not had the starters but the Sunday roast was very good, as was the salmon. However the desserts are pretty awful. First time I had the ice cream, one small scoop and a wafer in the bottom of the bowl. I know it was only £2, but I’m sure you could stretch to a more attractive scoop. The second time I had the baked Alaska, priced at £9.50, vastly overpriced for what it was, a flat square of sponge with a scoop of ice cream and a twirl of meringue on the top and one raspberry. We all thought it was an insult for the price. I will go again, but won’t have a dessert. We also sat in the alcove which was very pleasant but please put a blind at the window, as it was uncomfortably hot with the sun.

I have been going to this pub for years. However today was denied entry due to being under 25 - no explanation was given. I am 22 years old, I have no idea why there has been such a stupid policy change. It isn't fair on young adults supporting their local pubs.

Haven’t been to The Crown since it was refurbished. Booked a family Sunday lunch for 6 adults and 2 children to celebrate a birthday. Food was outstanding. Although a limited starter menu 3 of us opted for the walnut and mushroom pate. Not a great pate lover but didn’t fancy anything else. Needn’t have worried - the pate was delicious. Same goes for the roast beef - good quality, thickly cut and generous portions. Everyone else also really enjoyed their food. Service was excellent - especially the guy from Romania who had only worked there for 2 weeks (Sorry - didn’t get your name).

We visited today as a group of 9 and had a really enjoyable visit. The surroundings were very modern and lovely, the staff welcoming and a good space for us to relax and catch up. The food was really tasty -several had roasts (my pork was lovely), a couple had the pie and the children ate from the children’s menu. A bit of a delay for desserts to come out but staff apologised and they were rushed off their feet on a busy Sunday afternoon a week before Christmas. It was nice to have staff interacting with our group and not something you get everywhere. It seems to be a local gem and I am sure we will return.

I have been going to The Crown for the past 6 months especially after the re-furb and wanted a venue to celebrate my mothers passing. We thought The Crown would be the ideal location for a family get together. Unfortunately we were wrong. The starters were brought out out after other guests had already finished theres. When it did come out it was cold and had to be sent back. .we ordered bacon on our burgers. For £1.50 we got a single rasher that had been cremated. We did complain and a few rashers did arrive 10 minutes later. In all our opinilns the food was totally over priced and certainly not value for money. We wont be going back there in a hurry. May be we will try The Bull or the Tigers Head next time

Utterly abysmal service . Grossly understaffed with absolutely no sign of any manager . We arrived with 3 elderly guests , ignored for 5 minutes before being shown to stupidly tight fixed bench table . Then left for 25 minutes and were only served when we chased down a waitress . I can’t blame the two women on duty as they simple couldn’t cope . Will never return , appalling refurbishment and terrible sound reverberation around the room . ill conceived badly designed restaurant.

The Crown met all our expectations. The room was beautiful, clean and neat, with a Nespresso coffee machine, a lovely en suite bathroom and a view over a green area with beautiful trees. The dining area is pretty as a picture; breakfast was very good too. We had lunch and dinner in the pub and both were of a high standard. Loved the Orchard View cider!

We have used The Crown over the last 40 years and we watched with anticipation for the recent refurbishment, we went and stayed during the first week of opening and we were truly amazed at the transformation in all areas, the bar, the restaurant, the outdoor sitting area, the staff and the quality of food. This being the case I decided to revisit for a light lunch with friends this week, it was like a completely different pub, we ordered 3 sandwiches, a welsh rarebit and a bottle of wine, we were charged £85 which was obviously wrong, the bar staff had added 2 bottles to the bill one white, one red, this was not easy to rectify as the staff member was unsure how to refund the money, eventually it was sorted and we sat in the seating area outside only to discover that the cushions on the chairs were damp and when we lifted them up they were covered in mould, there were a pile of them on one of the tables. The tables were fifty with cobwebs and scraps of food, the once lovely pots and planting areas were full of weeds. The wine glasses that we were given were unclean, so I returned them to the bar, after speaking to the manager, she replied that they were 'not too bad'. The sandwiches came out and looked well presented but the welsh rarebit was accompanied with a pile of wilting mixed salad (which was really just rocket)and no dressing, there were 2 cherry tomatoes cut up and red onions which I felt was not acceptable for the cost of £7. Its such a shame after the big refurbishment that The Crown is looking shabby in so many areas.

Absolutely fantastic food, accommodation and great service! We stayed here for 1 night for a family event nearby. We booked in from a long journey from Leicestershire and wanted a sandwich because we were going to be eating properly later in the evening. It was past the time for club sandwiches but they still accommodated our request with a smile! We booked a table for 5 for Sunday lunch and they managed to fit us in at the time we wanted because we had a long trip back to Leicestershire. Breakfast here is the best I have ever had. Again credit to all the staff and the chef for great hospitality and service. Will definitely stay again and recommend to our friends who live nearby

The pub is nice, the staff were friendly and patient at the bar. The pub itself has been done up well but it’s more based on food, so we came to eat for the 1st time, but it was disappointing. Welsh rarebit had a soggy base and wasn’t cooked through properly, so was pretty lumpy. Chicken wings were cold and randomly served on red cabbage, there were only 3 so lacked generosity. Fish finger sandwich served on bread that was hard on top. The chips and scallops however were lovely. I was expecting better and won’t bother eating here again.

The restaurant was quiet. We ordered, the food took over an hour to come and we had to ask where it was. Food was lovely, all the courses we had. Service was really poor, attitude of staff was poor, and no one seemed to be in charge. Why spend so much money doing it up and then not have good staff. Atmosphere wasn’t great either. We went breakfast there a few weeks ago and it was the same. Such a shame.

Very friendly welcome and check in. Nothing is left in room ( due to covid restrictions ) but we were told to just ask if we need anything such as hair dryer and toiletries which I did request and were delivered to our door .Friendly attentive staff at dinner . Only 1 vegetarian option for a main meal but luckily we both loved the vegan burger and I think the menu may be reduced at the moment due to covid which is fair enough.Had a drink in garden after dinner which was nice and had a good atmosphere .Bed very comfy and we enjoyed the peace in the morning and hearing the bird song .Breakfast was great and I have attached a picture of the vegetarian breakfast which came with a choice of how eggs were cooked . Again very attentive service from the manager on this occasion who made us feel very welcome .Exactly what my husband and I were looking for and I would recommend . We have been customers of the Crown throughout its various incarnations, for more years than we care to remember. We have not just frequented the pub but have also used the function rooms and the hotel rooms. Good, regular customers then!We paid our first post lockdown visit today and it will be our last. The new landlord managed to be obnoxious upon our arrival and compounded this by being unable to organise any sensible level of service. After issuing us with his instructions he took us to a table and we waited and waited …….and waited ……. and nothing happened: the pub simply has far too few staff. In the end we walked out and went to the nearby Bull, which could not have been more different to the Crown. The Bull staff are numerous, jolly and efficient and the whole place had life, whereas the Crown was depressing. The number of customers in each establishment told its own tale - Shepherd Neame have made a big mistake here.

My family and I regularly visit this pub after a dog walk on the Common and eat, drink and walk back home. Service is always with a smile and today on a busy sunny Sunday a short staffed pub and restaurant excelled in particular Theresa who was superb at keeping everyone served and under pressure done the pub proud. Highly recommended anytime.

This is our second visit to The Crown in a few weeks. Both occasions have been Sunday lunchtime. We were extremely impressed, the pub is situated on the edge of the gorgeous village green in Chislehurst and it's a perfect setting. There is a small car park but generally people park on the roadside.

The food was exceptional. Perfectly cooked, came out piping hot and tasted delicious. Not only do they do great food, it’s an awesome place to stay. The rooms are pretty, practical, pristine clean and spacious and comfortable. The staff are courteous, knowledgeable and very helpful. I cannot speak highly enough about this gem of a place in London!

Our first time visiting Chislehurst and I opted to book here as the reviews on the whole were pretty good. We arrived 30mins early and asked if it was possible to be seated, they were happy to accommodate. The restaurant was empty when we arrived, this may have been due to the fact it was 12.30 and maybe a little too early for some. Disappointingly though we were still the only ones there an hour later when we left. The service was good and the waitresses very pleasant. Drinks arrived within minutes of ordering them.

I took my parents here for lunch and the food was beautiful! We each chose something from their weekend specials board and they did not disappoint, not only did they taste amazing but the presentation was stunning!

Went for Sunday lunch a couple of months ago. Really nicely done out inside and out and the staff are really friendly. Lunch was tasty and plentiful and the staff were great - very attentive without being over bearing. If you don’t want to cook and fancy a feed up give it a try - you won’t be disappointed!

On a evening out with friends whilst watching Wimbledon and cheering Federer to a win, my friend and I were told by the manager to keep the noise down then she then ensued in a tirade of verbal abuse and refused to serve my friend because I was standing beside her. Am a regular at the Crown and have been there for many sporting events where predominantly men would shout for their teams. It seemed this manager had a problem with us as women and me as a black woman. A couple of the other members of staff were also very rude. Shocking lack of respect for us as customers and as human beings. If I could give a zero rating I would.

Had a lovely family meal at the crown in Chiselhurst on Sunday. Such friendly staff and the food was brilliant. One of your waitresses Keeley spent an extra few minutes talking with my young daughter (who is very fussy with food) to make sure her meal was what she wanted. Could not recommend the pub enough.

We visited The Crown in Sunday. The Spitfire Ale was on very good form! The restaurant was surprisingly quiet for 3.00 on a Sunday. We all ordered a starter and a roast. The starters were good. The roast was very good. Extra roasties were served on request. There was plenty of good we’ll cooked vegetables and the meal was plentiful and hot! The staff were always on hand and very cheerful. Really enjoyed it and will visit again

Had a Sunday lunch for my uncles 60th Birthday! Absolutely awful! Freezing cold they then offered to heat it up in the microwave which to be honest it looked like it had been microwaved already!!! Would never return.

A friendly welcoming pub whose staff had no problem in accommodating our walking group of 23 people for lunch. Efficient friendly service was much appreciated by all and we look forward to returning again soon.

There is an interesting menu with a range of choices from a straight forward 'Fish and Chips' to a mouthwatering burger which cheese and brisket. The meals are well presented with accompanying vegetables or salad. In our case we were very impressed that the chef came out to ask us what we thought of our meal. The available wines are well priced.

Having visited before and had a good meal we took friends for a meal. The starter was very goo and we all enjoyed it. On the whole our friends enjoyed their meal but two of us ordered the steak, the most expensive item on the menu and one was good and the other was very tough. In fact so tough that it could not be eaten. Although I tried very hard. At the end of our meal when they came to collect our plates I told the waitress and she offered to get me another but it was too late then. The steak was cooked perfectly to my liking, medium but the steak itself was tough. We thought they would remove the cost from the bill but they didn't. Do not order the steak!

We stayed here for one night whilst on a visit to Chislehurst for a friend’s 40th. Really nicely decorated clean rooms and service was friendly and warm. It has a typical English Inn feel to it but it is nice and clean. We ate an early dinner on the Saturday evening and it was all good. Husband enjoyed the burger and I had the beef pie which was lovely.

Absolutely appalling service, ordered via Uber Eats waited 2 hours and then Toby Carvery cancelled the order. Up to the point of cancellation it kept saying order being prepared.

Oh my goodness, what has happened to this fish bar?? Used to go there every Friday before I moved away from Biggin Hill, but what a shock I had last Friday getting fish & chips for my elderly mother. Slow service with miserable faces, very dirty uniforms being worn by the staff, hair not tied back fully on one of the girls serving. Also, a very young boy helping behind the counter, which surely must be a Health & Safety concern with all the boiling fat!!! Safe to say, I won't be returning to Salisbury's Fish Bar, Main Road, Biggin Hill again :0(

This place has the potential to be a nice pub but based on my personal experience, we will sadly not be returning. It was a sunny afternoon and we decided to come to Downe Village for a nice pub lunch. I noticed there were people eating inside and nobody was seated outside. With it being a sunny day, we thought nothing of it and decided to sit in the beer garden. Within minutes of our food arriving, a black fluffy cat jumped onto the table, stuck it's bum in my face and started eating my food! I tried to shoo it off but it wouldn't budge and I'm allergic to cats. When I went inside to tell a member of staff, her response was "it lives in the garden. Just shoo it away." But it never went away so I went back inside again to tell them and it took her forever to do anything about it. By the time she came out, the cat had eaten half of my food. I appreciate there's not a lot they can do but atleast come out and pick up the cat and take it elsewhere if a paying customer complains they're allergic! Not only that, when I got home, I checked my card statement and noticed they had taken 10% service charge which wasn't shown on the receipt (only food and drinks.) I think that's rather cheeky considering there was no table service - we brought our own food, drinks, cutlery and condiments to the garden table and afterwards I even took the dirty dishes back with the cat's leftovers. A very disappointing visit.
