Took my family of 15 in there and when we walked in were told there’s another pub in the village! So walked out! Extremely rude as we were willing to spend a lot of money in there! So there loss! We did goto the other pub The New Inn, where they were more than welcoming and friendly staff! All enjoyed the meal! Would not recommend going to The crown as it’s very clicky and unwelcoming!

The only reason it got 1 star because I have to, otherwise it would have been 0! What an absolute disgrace. Food came in plastic baskets and foil trays, didn’t eat a thing as it completely put me off, and quite a few things missing, very unsightly and the mushy peas on the scampi were dry. For this delightful meal to arrive we had to wait over an hour. Sometimes good thing come to those who wait, not on this occasion. This was by far THE WORST pub meal I have ever had. The ONLY good thing about it was the lady who served us, very professional and polite, which cannot be said for the lad stood at the bar who kept giving us the dead eye and was quite clearly talking about us to the other member of staff. Felt very uncomfortable. Very very poor and would NOT recommend to anyone. WHO SERVES PUB MEALS ON FOIL TRAYS AND PLASTIC BASKETS??? 😤😤😤 Disgusting. No member of management came over to apologise, and said lad from bar sent the lovely girl over to deal with us. WIMP 😤😤😤

Our visit began when we went to find a member of staff so we could find the table we had booked, unfortunately it appeared we were a bit of an inconvenience as she huffed on our arrival. We asked if perhaps we could sit outside in the sunshine and she grumbled that our food would get cold outside and that she would have to removed the reserved sign from the table inside (it wasn't busy and also it was about 22 degrees outside). I asked for a highchair for my daughter and the staff member said she wouldn't be able to carry it so we said we would collect it. It was absolutely filthy and caked in old food, I wish I had taken a picture. I asked for something the clean it with and she said they get cleaned after each use but we could go inside and get a cloth. Even after I had cleaned it I didn't let my daughter sit in it. There was no apology or acknowledgement of the dirt. We then asked for our carvery and went inside to collect it. It was luke warm with boiled veg and dry meat. Very disappointing. The lady that had 'served' us was inside at this point and moaning about some other customers 'asking stupid questions'! It was honestly awful, I can't believe they have 4 stars on trip advisor! Apparently it was a nice pub previously. My dad who had made the booking said the person on the phone the day before had been very friendly and professional, its a shame the rest of the staff aren't!! I looked behind the bar as I carried my carvery outside and the floor was really dirty, I didn't visit the toilets and I'm glad I didn't! I can't express enough how much I would not recommend this place, I don't think I have ever been anywhere before where there has been nothing to compliment. Oh, the benches outside were painted nicely! We paid and left as unfortunately with her attitude, even if we had mentioned any of the above it would have just been us that she was moaning about to the other staff! I'm really not sure why they work in a pub serving the public, especially next to a holiday park!!!

10 minute walk from Sunnydale holiday park. Friendly helpful landlady, staff and local customers. Socially distanced tables. We only went at lunch times, excellent haddock chips and peas, we had to ask when we returned for a smaller portion of chips as the meals are large. We would certainly return here if we are in the area again.

Visited here in June 2021 having read the Trip Advisor reviews. Despite the negative reviews it wasn’t enough to put us off but I wish that it had! Firstly, we were a family of 12 and had booked 2 tables a day in advance. We were seated straight away (there was no one else there) and ordered shortly afterwards. Despite this our food took the best part of 90 mins to arrive. In the midst of this we tried to order scampi but were told (40 mins later) that there wasn’t any. These things happen so we ordered something else. However, no less than 20 mins after that (and an hour after first ordering)…the scampi had appeared!! Amazing. Despite the 90 min wait for our food none of the staff asked if we wanted our drinks refilling or gave any reassurances that we hadn’t been forgotten about. Once the food did appear it was all served on paper inside cardboard trays?? Not a bit of crockery in sight. Oh and we also had to ask if we could have some cutlery!! The staff then served the adults first and left the small children to wait another 10-15 mins for their food??? Generally the Crown Inn is a bit run down and the food was tasteless and greasy. Save your time and money and go somewhere else.

So we booked a weekend away at a nearby caravan park and spotted this pub on our way in. As we are all adults, we don’t normally stay on site and prefer to support nearby communities by spending our money in local pubs. So once checked in and all unpacked we headed out to the Crown. We planned to stay all afternoon and evening too. On arrival we were seated at a table and given a menu. There were only six meals to chose from but that didn’t matter as we were all hungry and glad to relax. We ordered food and drinks and began to unwind and enjoy our break away. The beer was crisp and tasty and the food plentiful and delicious. But we were let down by the miserable old lady who served us. She was scruffy looking, rude and not friendly at all. Once we’d eaten and ordered another drink she came and put a sign on our table saying it was reserved from 7pm. Didn’t even look at us and muttered you have to be gone by then and walked off. We even over heard her saying she couldn’t wait for holiday season to be over as she dislikes tourists! Well we voted with our feet and drank up. We didn’t do anything wrong, we kept ourselves to ourselves, and to be treated like that, well we didn’t even bother then to order more drinks or spend any more money. Proper ruined our nice experience. There were four of us, all big drinkers with plenty of holiday spends. We never returned after that and probably never will. Shame as well, because the pub wasn’t far from the caravan site, and everything else was spot on.

I chose a burger and my meal was lovely, homemade chips too which is always a nice surprise, my partner had liver in a yorkshire pud, but it was cold, however he didnt like to complain as they had been so friendly, had we complained im sure it would have been fixed.Overall food let them down but there pints were brilliant.

I have frequented this establishment many times over the last 12 years. I originally worked at Sunnydale and happened upon it on my day off (there weren't many!) I have family that live near by and have always opted to stay in the crown rather than with them (which speaks volumes) Alan and Dee are nothing short of fantastic hosts and they know their trade well. The crown is a rustic little pub/eatery/bed and breakfast. Ample parking and easy to find. The guestrooms are clean and comfortable and the pub offers activities for all, including bingo, karaoke and quizzes with decent prizes. In short there is very little a place like this can't do. I highly recommend a visit weather just passing or planning a short stay. A massive pat on the back to the owners.

Ate here over the weekend whilst staying at Sunnydale park up the road. Phoned mid-afternoon to ask for a table for 11 that night. Very helpful and accommodating landlord who told me that whilst they don't normally take reservations, he'd ensure there was room for us at the agreed time. It was a nice touch. The food is sturdy, honest pub grub. It might not win any awards, but it absolutely does the job and is very good value. Not one of our group had a duff meal or any cause for complaint. On the contrary, everyone agreed that after a long day trying to tire the kids out, it was just the tickets. Overall, if you're staying at one of the local caravan parks and want a place with a warm welcome, no-nonsense tucker and a good pint, then I'd heartily recommend The Crown. We arrived a little unsure what to expect but left really happy (and full).
