Charlie Hodson & the Crown 👑 Pub just keep getting better. Wednesday Curry Night is really catching on. The food is yum yum, the staff so friendly & efficient, the pub warm & inviting. The place was completely sold out with another 20+ people trying to get booked. Luckily, the Crown will offer Curry 🍛 Night every Wednesday, starting next Wednesday. This will make it easier for more Curry Fans to experience Charlie’s fantastic creations, but best to book ahead. Charlie’s grandfather was from India and taught Charlie well. Yes, I’ve already booked my table for next Wednesday.

I went to the crown with my husband for the first time back in January and can honestly say we had a great experience. The food is excellent, the best food either of us have had out. We have been back again since and again food was of the same high standard, just so tasty. It's a bit of a drive for us but well worth it for the food. We will be back again soon.

The landlord, landlady, serving staff, and chef are top notch. The food is always superbly cooked and well presented. Curry nights on Wednesdays in tandem with the biweekly quiz are always sold out. Was really heartbroken (NOT!!!)to find out the price of curry is going up by a whole £1. I challenge anyone to find an Indian restaurant where you can get your curry, rice, pompadom, bhaji, raita/hari for their price. Fish & chip nights are better than any place I've been for fish & chips. Friday's steak nights are awesome!! You won't find this quality of food at these prices anywhere...it isn't the "typical pub grub" The selection of real ales, lagers, ciders, gins, whiskeys and drinks is better than most Wetherspoons and just as competitively priced. Have a read on the most recent article in the Eastern Daily Press where three food critics visited and gave this pub top marks for the Sunday Roast Dinner. It doesn't get better than this!!

Four of us visited the Crown for Sunday lunch and unfortunately first impressions were not good as the pub was cold. What strikes you on the menu is how much of the food is brought in and not cooked fresh. However two of us ordered the pies which when they eventually arrived were black and burnt on the bottom. We made a polite complaint and were told it was not a problem as they could have two more its with us within 4 minutes. Hardly home cooked food! One person had a tasteless burger and another pork tomahawk! When we asked what this was we were informed it was a pork chop! The deserts were uninspiring and the ice creams had ice crystals in them. This pub needs to take a hard look at what it offers.

An old fashioned pub with a friendly welcome. With Old fashioned home cooked food (like my mother used to make),how much cooking is up for debate as some of the pies are bought in, but huge portions, my wifes fish was very good, my sausages not so good. As a destination pub would I go again No.

I chanced upon The Crown whilst researching for somewhere to eat after a walk in Thetford Forest. I phoned in advance to make a reservation as I was accompanied by my dog so wanted to check there was somewhere to eat with a dog. When we arrived the owners made my wife & I feel very welcome and made a big fuss of my dog which is always appreciated. We were sat by a gorgeous warm log fire in what I could describe as a typically cosy village pub. There was 4 Real Ale pumps and the pint I had was in excellent condition. The food was well presented, very tasty, good sized portions and not overpriced - so good in fact we went for puddings as well. What was pleasant was the locals in the pub also made you feel welcome. I will definitely be returning.

We stopped here on a Sunday on our way from Norwich to Downham Market, we had a small dog with us. What a wonderful find! The staff are extremely friendly and attentive. The bar and restaurant areas have recently been refurbished so it is very light and smart yet cosy inside. Our dog was allowed to come in if we ate in the bar area. The food was delicious. We both had roasts, had lots of vegetables with marvellous roast potatoes! It was mid-priced and very worth the money. We will certainly go again and thoroughly recommend eating here. The people of Northwold need to make sure they support such a lovely welcoming local pub with great food

I have just come back from a wonderful Sunday lunch at The Crown. We booked a table for 6 and everyone of us agreed that the food was top notch. The beef, pork and chicken were all cooked to perfection and the vegetables were delicious. The new head chef Charlie Hodson has put together a fantastic new menu which two of our party had dinner on the Friday evening and both were delighted with their meals. The landlady and landlord were very welcoming and friendly and the waiting staff were both helpful and attentive. We will be back for more.

We have been resudents in Northwold for over thirteen years and I do belief at long last we have a village pub that serves very good food and is run by a charming landlady and landlord who are welcoming and eager to please. Six of us had dinner last night as the pub has a new chef on board who is the well know Norfolk chef Charlie Hodson.Well what a change from the ususl bland pub grub,Charlie has obviously given a great deal of thought to the menu offerings and has come up with a delightful menu that should satisfy all tastes.Althought the pub was packed we were served quickly and efficiently by an enthusiastic young team, our chosen dishes arrived promptly and were presented in an eye appealing way. Those who had the sea bass fillets were especially impressed with the quality and taste. The homemade pies were just as good. There was a good selection of desserts which were also of the highest quality. It was good that the landlady Janice was out and about checking on quality and talking to the guests and making sure all was ok.All in all a great meal enjoyed by not just our table but also those others guests near us.Its early days but the omens are good. We will for sure be back to enjoy another great meal. Oh and a good word for David the affable Landlord who always seems to have a smike on his face

The staff were very attentive/friendly and even the owners came over to ensure all was ok with our food or needed anything else. This pub has a great friendly atmosphere and beautiful fresh decor. Would highly recommend a visit. 👌
