When your difficult to find hours say you open at 7AM, why are you not open at 7AM? I waited a reasonable amount of time past 7AM and then left frustrated. Please get a dedicated website that clearly lists your hours and menu.

Just come back from lunch at The Chequers and I really enjoyed it, as did all the ladies who were in our party. The waitress was attentive and the food was lovely. I had the Goats Cheese salad and have to say it was delicious. The jacket potatoes were HUGE and everyone enjoyed them. The chocolate brownie and ice cream was scrumptious and the lemon tart was a big slice. Although the menu was not huge it was varied and I'm sure, like many pubs now who are creating smaller menus, it ensures freshness and also helps keep tabs on stock levels in this "extremely long cost of living crisis" I thoroughly recommend and will go back again.

Having read previous writer's review, felt I had to come out LOUD and credit to this pub. The landlord and Chef who are a team and a couple, have turned this pub around from what it was. They have made it warm friendly and a lovely welcome awaits all. It is the first pub they have run,but were brilliantly trained and prepared for the task by both spending 5 yrs ,working at a very famous hotel on the shores of Lake Windermere. Starting at the bottom, working their way up to management. Nothing is too much trouble, and they cater for EVERYONE. I am myself gluten free veggie, but Sarah, the Chef accommodates me brilliantly. I hope last downer of a review hasn't dented their passion for what they are doing, indeed they know by returning customers that they are doing things ok. I wish them all the best for the future, and remind them that a lot of these people who moan and winge are known online as MOMP'S ! Money off meals people, hoping they will get a freebie !! Good luck for the future guys.

We’ve been a few times now and have always been made to feel welcome. Now the pub has been running a few months you can see the owners starting to relax and enjoy all of the hard work that has been put in re-opening The Chequers. The menu has some delicious new dishes to try and the pub favourites i.e steak is always cooked to perfection served with chips a side salad and grilled tomatoes. Was baffled by previous review stating it wasn’t served with any of the above. Deserts are always my weakness and these are worth a return visit in itself with the lemon tart a firm favourite. Service is great with polite efficient waitresses who will go that extra mile to make your visit. Recently saw the young girl helping the older customers by collecting the Sunday dinner for them even though they were obviously busy. It’s lovely seeing a local pub up and running again and hope the locals help to support it. A couple of things I hope to see when the pub is more established is the pool table and dart board back, could help to bring in people throughout the week. Overall a good pub with delicious food and efficient cheerful service. Will be returning soon.

When I booked the table I was not informed that a party would be going on at the same time. I was told, on the night, that they were working from two different diaries, and they hadn't realised. Although they did have my phone number so perhaps could have given us the choice once they had realised. My opinion is that either Sarah and Kris have never run a pub before, or they have, and are very disorganised. No website, 2 Facebook pages, menus does not properly cater for vegetarians or vegan, or possibly celiac either. If it's not deep fat fried and come straight out of the freezer..... by the way the oil needs changing. The waiting staff, trying to do their best, but I would suggest not trained. I got asked how my steak was, before I had even had chance to cut into it. Perhaps because it was so dark in the dinning room that they could not see my plate. It was cold and dark, so dinner went cold quite quickly. The waiting staff also started to clear plates twice whilst some of our party we're still eating, this happened for both my starter, and my main course. Personally, I find it rude to clear plates at a table where people are still eating. I was trying to make my way through the half a plate full of French fries, too much, very off putting and not a vegetable in sight on any of our plates. There seemed no reason to be clearing plates as we were the only people eating here. However, the steak I had was cooked well, and no steak knife needed to eat it. I hope for your own success that the proprietors take notice of the comments written. Personally, I will not be returning.

This pub has recently been reopened a few weeks ago. It is run by Sarah and Kris who have renovated and updated the pub. It’s a big pub with a restaurant side and a bar side. Both are warm and welcoming. Sarah and Kris are very pleasant people who go out of their ways to make you feel comfortable. The food is not overly fancy but very well cooked and fairly priced. I would recommend the Steaks cooked to perfection by Sarah and served by Beth.I really hope both the locals and passers by give it a visit, you won’t be disappointed and we are so happy we moved to a village with two great pubs!

We recently visited for a family birthday meal. On being seated in the conservatory on the hottest day of the year where all windows and the door were closed I had to clean my cutlery as it was all covered in dust and told all my family members to do the same. We ordered our food only for it to be served nearly 2 hours later. The child's ham egg and chips was the same size as the adults resulting in an adult paying 8.50 for 1 slice of ham 1 egg and about 12 chips this was meant to come with a side salad that arrived 20 minutes later. Another family member ordered steak and had to go to the kitchen nearly 30 minutes later to find out what had happened to his onion rings and peppercorn sauce. We also ordered a beef burger which wasn't eaten as it was really spicy and my daughter in law doesn't like spicy food. The whole family were disappointed even my 6 year old grandson who we ordered the chicken gougons for had specifically asked for no beans and while his food came over an hour later it had beans on it and with him being autistic got quite distressed about this.. we have visited the chequers on quite a few occasions but on the last 2 visits the food has been poor. On our last visit we were the only people in there but still waited an hour and half for our food and on arrival of my partners curry the rice was way under cooked. Really disappointed that a place we had frequently eaten at has gone so down hill

Style and old-age Tudor grandeur permeate when you reach the front entrance. What gives the appearance of a simple pub in the disco-ball lit front, upon entry becomes a “choose your own adventure”, with a right turn taking you to a traditional pub with digital jukebox, a great selection of ales and ciders, and pool-table and dart board, and great seating and atmosphere.

We’ve dinned twice in the Chequers since my relations moved into Feltwell earlier this month and each time we’ve been served delicious food. It makes a pleasant change to find an establishment that serves homemade dishes. We have been made very welcome each time and it’s great to find a local pub with a community spirit. I’ve yet to try the ‘Wednesday lunch time special’ 2 courses for £6.50 but sure it will be as good quality as last night’s meal.......I would recommend you try the fish and chips ! ...Found out about 'happy hour' last night, Monday to Friday 5.30pm to 7pm, that was a pleasant surprise.

Very good value and lovely food and hot drinks. The main reason for my score was the friendliness of the proprietor. She made us so welcome and helped my mother with her mobility issues. We noticed there were several “ regulars “ who were also well looked after.

A warm welcome even though we arrived early. The short frequently changing menu indicates a good kitchen brigade that knows what it's doing. We enjoyed King's Lynn shrimps in a glorious butter. The Sandringham mutton chops were just what you think of, thin perfectly cooked and succulent. Needing some greens, the tender stem broccoli with chopped walnuts answered the requirement. Followed, when the first two courses had settled a bit, with a tirramasu of great quality. No need for an excuse to visit, if you pass close, eat and enjoy. If a full lunch is too much, look at the sandwich list, beautifully served and satisfying, to judge by a neighbouring table. All the pub standards are on the menu, but do go for something a bit more exciting. A new and large carpark is within 15 m of the door and access is good for all, though the loos are up a couple of steps in the main building, a fully accessible facility is in a building just across the yard.
