Stopped here today after finding this on Tripadvisor. We were warmly welcomed and given the option of sitting in the bar or upstairs (very steep stairs) for waitress service. We chose the Ploughman's Lunch, where you have the options of choosing 2 options from: cheddar, Stilton, brie, prawns, beef or piri piri chicken. The plates were full of colourful & tasty food; the beef was plentiful and tender. It took us ages to get through and unfortunately didn't have room gir a dessert. Another customer couldn't manage her lunch, and she was offered the option of having it packaged up and taking it home. We will be back next time we are in the area to try something else off the menu!

We spent two nights here and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It’s a very old building with lots of character. We had a problem with the shower which was sorted once I mentioned it. Staff very efficient on the whole. We had home cooked meals both nights with fresh veg. Breakfast was cooked to order and self service for cereals and fruit juice. There were yoghurts on the one morning only. Would definitely recommend and return

We dined here for dinner and had a pleasant experience. First, the building itself is quaint. It took us a bit but we worked out that we could sit in the pub or upstairs for table service. We opted for the latter. Second, the building seems very authentic; lots of small rooms, different stair cases, etc. Our server did a good job and we both enjoyed the traditional entrees. Specifically, the sauces were delicious.

The room was awful. Old mattresses, stained carpets and desperately in need of a refurb. We stayed on a Friday and Saturday night. The pub has a license until 2am. This means lots of noise, music and people shouting in the street until very late. We heard all that from our room (17) and that was round the back. The first breakfast we had was great. On the Sunday morning it was rubbish with badly cooked sausage and bacon. The staff on the whole were very friendly. The male staff were scruffy to say the least. If you are going to a wedding locally I would avoid.

Myself and my family (a table of 4) had decided on a post payday treat and thought The Crown is spoken about but we have never been – booking here was the best decision. The pub itself is oldy-worldy, quirky and just really quite cozy. On arrival we ordered our drinks and were shown to a table upstairs, a table with a tablecloth, wine glasses, side plates and menus waiting. Not long after we had settled a large group were sat down next to us, leaving us to initially think ‘we aren’t going to be able to hear anything now!’ (The restaurant was empty apart from us and the group being a Tuesday evening!). However, we should not have worried as our waitress (Penny) came to take our order and quickly realised the noise level and offered us another table in another area (without us even having to say anything!) and not only that when we viewed the other area Penny also mentioned an even cosier area that we may prefer .. which we did! We all had starters and mains and from first to the last bite the food was amazing. Clearly homecooked, rich in flavour and a generous portion! We all left full up and having enjoyed and really really lovely meal. If you are looking for somewhere to have a relaxed, chilled, civilised, value for money (approx. £109 for 4x 2 courses and a mix of wine and soft drinks) meal then this is the place for you. We will definitely be returning!

The last time we had visited was about 3 years ago. The reason we had left it so long was because, on that occasion, we found the staff to be unfriendly, and the food not great. As some time had elapsed, we decided to give it another go and went with an open mind. This time things were very different. The staff were friendly and mostly attentive (we had to walk downstairs to pay the bill as they seemed to have forgotten us). The food was excellent, both in quality and quantity. So based on this experience, we will be back. Thank you.

We stayed for just one night, using the location as a jumping off point to explore the area, and our stay was great. A very spacious and well equipped room with, unusually, electrical outlets everywhere, to the extent that larger hotels would benefit from visiting to see how things should be done! Our room also had a well equipped kitchen area which was a bonus that we weren't expecting. We had dinner in the restaurant, and the meals were excellent, and the portions so generous that they defeated us! Breakfast was excellent too. All staff that we met were genuinely friendly and very helpful.

We stayed here for one night. Its convenient for snetterton and provided a lovely homely feel after a busy day at the track. We had a family room and there was loads of space which was lovely. We had a fully equipped kitchen , dining area, settee and 2 beds downstairs and then a separate bedroom and bathroom upstairs. It's a little dated but was very spacious and well equipped and to be honest charmingly old fashioned. The village is very pretty and quiet but there was a fish and chip shop and convenience store just down the road, I wish I had got up a little earlier to explore further afield but had slept too well ! We had breakfast in the morning which was nice, good choice of good and fresh juice which set us up nicely for the next day. We will definitely return thd next time we are racing at snetterton.

We made a last minute booking for 2 nights and were delighted with our choice. It's a 17th century pub with accomodation. We stayed in Room 15 and it was a family room with two large double beds. It was beautifully clean with a lovely ensuite and great shower. The breakfast was delicious with lots of choices and the evening meal was fantastic and very reasonable. My husband had the steak and ale pie which he said was the best he had ever had and I had the lasagne which was really yummy but huge! For dessert we both had amaretto and pear cheesecake which also was delicious. The staff are very friendly and helpful too. We are so pleased that we discovered this great place.

Paid £95 for what felt like a one star hotel. You could feel the springs on the bed. The hot water tap had no water coming out of it. Cold shower. The restaurant was very unhygienic. The bread on the table was crawling with flies. Sticky tables to eat off. At breakfast nothing was covered, again with files everywhere. Staff weren’t at all bothered by this. I could not bring myself to drink out of the glasses that were face down on a sticky unclean table. Or pour orange juice that was left uncovered with files dipping in and out of it. I would rather of slept in our car. Avoid !

After a disastrous visit to an allegedly top end gastro inn a few miles away we decided to try the Crown and we were very pleased we did! It is a quaint period pub with a small saloon bar boasting a range of fine local ales on hand pumps and a fantastic selection of single malt scotch whiskies including my 3 favourites, Glen Morangie, Oban and Laphraiog. I had whitebait cooked to perfection and a large portion followed by a Steak and ale pie bursting which big chunks of succulent steak and rich gravy. The accompanying vegetables were cooked to perfection. My companion had a ‘small’ portion of Haddock and chips but still couldn’t finish it. The portions are huge, cooking excellent, service very good and the menu varied. There is also a first floor dining room but without disabled access. Our only slight gripe was that the downstairs bar is a little cramped but that did not spoil a first class lunch and we’re going again tomorrow!

Ate here on our first night in SW Norfolk on holiday. We somehow ended up sitting in the bar rather than the restaurant or lounge but it made it interesting hearing the locals having a bit of banter. Because we were in the bar area we had to order our food at the bar which wasn't a problem, just said excuse me to the locals and they let me through to the bar. Food wise couldn't fault it. My steak and ale pie with mushrooms was more like a bowl of beef and mushroom stew with a piece of lovely light puff pastry dropped on top. I have never eaten a pie with so much meat in it. My wife had the bangers and mash which she described as gorgeous. I have to say they did look really good and sourced from a local farmer. Lovely well cooked vegetables to accompany and we were well and truly filled by the time we left. Can't comment on the desserts I'm afraid as we could not manage another bite. Nice friendly pub with very very good food on offer but think it might be better to eat somewhere other than the bar

I ordered the slow cooked roast port belly which was possibly the best roast pork I had ever had. The crackling was absolutely perfect. The meat was tender and juicy. The caramelised sauce was a perfect consistency and nicely flavoured. The accompanying steamed vegetables could not be faulted, slightly crunchy and still retaining it's natural flavours.I did find the potatoes au gratin too garlicky for my palate, but others may like this. The vanilla icecream scoop in the half apple was a quirky touch which was not quite right for my palate either. I think the ice cream was too sweet to put with the meal, the more subtle sweet but tart flavour of apples would have been better. But otherwise superb. My dining companion found his ham egg and chips also faultless. A wonderful find.

A very disappointing meal at The Crown, Munford! A lovely building, but the food...well, see below!! Three Cheese Tortellini and a Rump Steak ... must have been an anaemic cow!!! When we raised this with the waitress she was rather disagreeable and put out, stating that she'd check with the chef, who confirmed that it was indeed a Rump Steak! When we asked to see the Manager, who failed to appear, another waitress again told us that it IS a rump steak....we even got some photos on my phone to illustrate our point! I had to refuse to pay for that meal as there was no offer to adjust the bill...poor customer service. So be warned....if you want a Rump Steak go elsewhere. This was our third poor meal there....it'll be our last!!

When I called to reserve a table for Sunday lunch I wasn't overly awed by the monotone voice taking my reservation, but nevertheless they accommodated our request without any problem. There were hoards of motorcyclists in one bar so we went into the other bar, where we waited for about ten minutes. One member of waiting staff went past us twice but no acknowledgement- we were in the verge of walking out when a pleasant young lady said she'd be back as soon as she could, to serve us. Sure enough within 2-3 minutes a young man came through and served us drinks and we ordered our food as well whilst there were staff about to take our order. Food arrived 10mins later which was great as we were hungry! We both had roast beef which was delicious although slightly too much gravy for me personally. Roasties were delicious too as was the yorkshires. Veg was good. We didn't have dessert but saw another table receive theirs, and it looked scrumptious! Called into this pub / hotel twice this week, no frills food cooked to good standard - portions a bit big, almost every table leaving uneaten food on every plate, lots of frozen type chips and a generous salad on each plate makes the portions appear massive. Some odd combinations food wise on the menu and £21 for a basic fillet steak seems a bit steep given the frozen chips that would be served. Not much atmosphere as its a separate rooms layout with a bit of a tired interior, basically great place to grab a meal but not to spend an evening. service by some staff a little unrefined and abrupt and could be more friendly.

I booked Bed and Breakfast here at short notice as I decided to visit Grimes Graves for a second day. The Crown at Mundford is very convenient if you're visiting this historic site just down the road. I had a very comfortable attic room with en suite for a reasonable price. After signing in I ordered an evening meal there and even though I had a good appetite, I should have considered the half-size serving as the standard meal was large. The battered fresh haddock overhung both ends of the plate, and there were plenty of good quality vegetables. The breakfast in the morning was excellent: plenty of choice, prompt service and nice decor. If you don't like stairs, my attic room was up three flights, but it was quiet and very comfortable.

Had dinner here, an excellent rump steak with all the trimmings. Nice to see a pub with plenty of locals adding colour to the experience. Local beer was very tasty too.

I had dinner at the Crown, I found it a very friendly pub, warm and inviting. I had the lasagna which was very good and an excellent pint of bitter.

Beef was so tough, couldn't cut it, everything seemed to be tasteless. Left whole of meal, less one bite, but wasn't asked what was wrong. Apart from one blonde waitress, staff were not interested.

We were in the area for a family wedding & booked six rooms at this hotel. Despite various requests for single rooms , double rooms etc we were all given what we requested. The Crown manages to remain a village pub with a proper bar, whilst catering for numerous bedrooms situated at various sites in the small village. Meals can be taken in the bar but it would be a pity to miss the lovely character of the dining rooms. We all enjoyed breakfasts which were freshly cooked . Overall a very enjoyable stay.

Lovely hotel in a lovely village called Mundford. The hotel is charming olde world pub, with rooms attached running down the road....Good value for money.

Great food, a little chilly in the bar though. Although the landlord did try and light the fire to remove the chill.

My husband and I went for our Anniversary dinner at the last minute. Difficult to find parking and no clear signs to restaurant part of structure that is hotel/pub/restaurant (outside stairs to right of structure). We made a reservation, but no one was in the restaurant when we arrived. All other customers were seated outside in the garden on picnic tables. This looked fun, but we were a little dressed up, so we decided to eat inside. The servers rallied, and took our order quickly. We had a delicious appetizer that was made up of small button mushrooms in a stilton and wine sauce. It was a very generous size, and was perfect to share. My husband's dinner of pork belly was very good by report and served with potatoes and a side of mixed vegetables. My leek and spinach crumble was good, but there were a few times as I was eating that I noticed a grittiness that disturbed the pleasure of eating this otherwise yummy vegetarian dish. I would recommend a more thorough rinsing of the vegetables (probably the spinach). This dish was served with potatoes in any desired version, and more vegetables on the side. Our servers were young, polite and attentive. Overall, we were very pleased with our meal (except for the grittiness) and too full for dessert. Would return.

Although pretty from the outside and overlooking the green, inside the décor is tired, the seats are extremely hard, the service was disjointed (when ordering drinks at the bar, and indicating that we would like food, we were not told to order it at the bar and spent some time sitting at our table before we caught on). Appreciate food is cooked to order, but from time of arrival to receiving food was an hour and five minutes. The portions look generous, typical ok pub food, but the plates are too small and the sight of food piled up is not appetising, and give no room at all for manoeuvring food without knocking stuff off the plates. I don't feel we'd rush back.

Popped in for lunch and a drink on the way back from the north Norfolk coast. It's not on the main road so you need to keep an eye-open for the signs. the pub was cozy, staff friendly and food great. What more do you need to say?

Visited this hotel staying locally for one night only. The building is typical of old pubs with need of some money spending on it. Breweries and owners will never catch up without selling on or ruining by turning into Indian restaurants. Staff very friendly, the food looked interesting but my choice of home made burger had flaws. The burger meat was very well made but not cooked well, running with grease causing a soggy bun that had be be discarded. Locals noisy and not well travelled (that's being polite)

This is a great village pub/restaurant with a regular twist. First Sunday of each month the pub if full of Harley Davidson riders as "The Fenlanders" meet here! Especially in summer there can be dozens of stunning original Harley's to look at. This particular visit in addition to the chapter meet we were having a birthday meal for a group of us upstairs. The Sunday roast is always good so why have anything else, it was pork or beef this time, can't decide have a bit of both! The staff are friendly and relaxed well used to us bikers and happy to have us decorate the table ahead of the meal. A happy birthday was had by all!

Fresh meat and vegetables cooked well and excellent crème brule. Our meals were in with our stay here as we were booked as a group but there were plenty of couples staying who seemed to enjoy the food and ambience too.

We went here for lunch for Mothering Sunday as a family group and were seated upstairs on a large and very suitable table. We chose a variety of meals from starters to puddings and all were served well, lovely food and great service. We have been here a number of time now and always enjoyed good food in a lovely environment. We will certainly go again.

We have always thoroughly enjoyed our meals here, to the extent that we will be booking for a party shortly. The building is old and a little quirky, but the food has always been excellent. The staff are friendly and courteous, the chef knowledgeable and helpful. Perhaps the room temperature could do with a little attention to detail, but this is minor. We are looking forward to returning in April.

We have had a drink here a few times but for the first time we had lunch. It was a bargain offer price and the food was delicious. The best meal I've had in a pub. The staff are always friendly and accomodating.

Lovely cosy pub, nicely decorated ahead of Christmas. Good lighting and brilliant service from Scott, it's so refreshing to have a happy waiter/server who is genuinely good at their job! Sadly, the food was disappointing. Under cooked vegetables and very sad looking roast potatoes on the festive menu but a good proce considering portions.

I live a mile from Brome hall and have never visited this place before! Why I ask myself? Took my mum for afternoon tea today. A warm friendly welcome. The tea was awesome. Couldn't fault at all. Perhaps next time and yes, there will be a next, the conservatory would have been wiser so we could have a sleep on the sofas. Sunday lunch is also on the agenda.!!
