Great location. Cannot fault the staff and breakfast was very good (shame the hot chocolate was out of order). Only faults were, the walls aren't very thick so it can be noisy at time especially when people are up at 1am with doors banging. Signs for rooms were very clear. I walked around to find my room which I couldn't find it. Eventually I walked through a door marked for fire exit to find my room.

Appalling Experience – Would Not Recommend My stay at The Crown Hotel Harrogate was nothing short of a disaster. From the moment I arrived, I felt completely unwelcome. Despite booking two months in advance, I was not even on the system. To make matters worse, I was placed on the second floor with my dog, which was highly inconvenient. I had confirmed twice that my package included a food allowance, yet when it came to dining, the experience was horrendous. The food was subpar, the wait times between courses were beyond excessive, and service was shockingly disorganized. I ordered a drink with my main course, only to receive it 46 minutes later—after I had finished eating. We then waited 40 minutes for dessert, only to be told they had run out. At that point, we just wanted to leave as the dining room had a dreadful ambiance, and other guests were also complaining about their meals. The issues didn’t end there. The bathroom had an awful eggy smell, a dirty towel with visible mascara stains, and overall poor cleanliness. It was clear that having a dog was an inconvenience to them, likely because I wasn’t even on their system. When checking out, I expected to at least be asked how my stay was, but not a single member of staff seemed to care. The entire experience was a complete shambles—no organisation, no professionalism, and no basic hospitality. Avoid this place at all costs.

Very nice hotel, called hotel prior to stay and spoke with Joanna she was very helpful with arranging a special suprise for my partner. Was checked in by Johanna very professional and she ensured all my requests were accommodate. Had amazing time! Unforgettable breakfast stay. Ow let's not forget the tasty dinner that was so cheap! I will definitely return.

Bed exceptionally comfortable, great location, excellent front desk staff. That's the good news. Although an enjoyable stay we had lots of niggles. Our room was cold, the radiator wasn't working. Should have been checked especially when the weather outside was sub zero. Front desk sent up a portable heater which solved the problem. Other guests were also complaining that their rooms were cold. Cleanliness in the bathroom was an issue with thick dust on the cushion floor behind the toilet, and the bedroom windows had not been cleaned for months, spoiling what would have been a great view. We had an evening meal deal and wished we hadn't. I ordered soup and my wife a fish cake starter. The soup was luke warm and the fish cake was still partially frozen in the middle. Sent the starters back to the kitchen and we were surprised with the couldn't care less attitude of the staff. Spoke to the food and beverage duty manager who was likewise disinterested. At least the starters came back hot. Not much luck with the main meals. My wife ordered shoulder of lamb. The mash it came with was obviously packet there was just a couple of batons of carrot and a mere thimbleful of gravy. Had to ask for more. My mains of chicken with wedges arrived five minutes after my wife's main course. Not good. Wedges were poor quality out of a freezer packet. Throwing a couple of pea shoots over a meal does not make it any more appetising. Deserts were also of poor quality. The strawberry cheesecake didn't have a single strawberry. Another gripe was that the dining room, while quite stunning, was cold. Some diners even had their coats on, including us. Returned to the bar area after dinner, and that was also uncomfortably cold. The wood burning fire had been allowed to go out and staff were reluctant to relight it. Breakfast was also a disappointment. While there was plenty of choice, the hot food was only aired. Sausages were also undercooked, and plates, despite being in a warmer, were also cold. Very few staff around and those that were were young and woefully inexperienced in hospitality. Not their fault, it's down to poor training. This all sounds like that we had a disastrous weekend. We didn't, but these issues need addressing to make it a great stay.

Great location for exploring Hartogate. Very historic hotel, with a grand interior, as with all old buildings, there are bits that are a little tired but it is clean and well-kept. Car park is only small but there is another public one nearby. Staff are all very polite and friendly. The breakfast is great! Lots of choice and plenty of seating, even at peak times. Overall, fantastic value. Would definitely recommend.

Dated but clean, centrally located hotel. We came for the Christmas Market, less said about that the better. Hotel is fine however our final days breakfast was quite possibly the worst hotel breakfast we have ever had. Took an age to get our poached eggs and even then had to remind them of our request. Baked beans were the driest i have ever had, I suspect they were reheated from yesterday. Sausages although large were undercooked. Toast was fine although cold from waiting for the eggs! Not the best sorry.

My wife and I booked the one night 'all on us package'. We opted for a suite. The package entails evening meal, breakfast, 2 free drinks each and lunch before you leave. Best of all is the 2pm check out. We have no real complaints. Yes the hotel is a very old building in need of a refurb. However I dread to think how much that would cost. The reception and ground floor bars and restaurants are really nice. However once you get beyond them it's all a bit tatty. Our suite was a good size with the separate lounge we wanted. Our evening meal was spot on as was breakfast. Our request for our lunch before leaving did cause some confusion as the member of staff didn't appear to have any knowledge of the package we were on. Bottom line, did we enjoy ourselves? We sure did. Would we stay again? Do you know the package was such good value we would definitely do it all again.

Stayed there for work reasons. Very old hotel, outdated walls, need redecorating. At night from outside looks like a ghost building. Service was good though and room was clean, bed was quite comfy. English breakfast buffet was nice, but very tiny space so if a lot of people, have to squeeze between each other, the plates were not properly washed so be careful when you take one. However it is ok for the price and for short time, and location was good.

Wish I could leave minus 5 stars. Rooms very dated staff not very helpful 1 of the nights we was evacuated due to a fire alarm when eventually got out and round to the front with no help from staff only found out the way thanks to some bus drivers. Thankfully the fire brigade was very quick and determined it was a false alarm but the staff seemed to be clueless about what to do. Food was cold most of the time and when you asked staff they just said that's how it is. Will not be returning ever again and would advise anyone else not to book either

We had a nice stay at The Crown Hotel. We upgraded to a suite and that really enhanced our stay. The rooms need a bit an uplift, they are a bit tired looking. Clean room, clean bathroom and clean bedding. Hotel staff very good at all times. Breakfast was disappointing, it was a buffet breakfast and the hot buffet items did not look appetising. Good location. Lovely from outside, nice in reception, but once inside room 1 - No heat in bathroom, no heated towel rail 2 - Cool radiators on a cold night 3 - No hot water on getting up at 6.30, unable to shower, still none at 7.30 when breakfast started 4 - Stained bathroom floor 5 - Handwash bottle on washbasin not working, dirty on outside of bottle 6 - Dirty windows 7 - Lack of plug sockets near bed 8 - Dirty kettle, calcium build up on kettle spout, unable to have hot drink 9 - Stained chairs 10 - Stained curtains 11 - Smelt damp 12 - Bath plughole gurgled with nasty smell when washbasin taps were running Informed reception staff on check out of some of the issues but were met with disinterest. This was a Groupon deal but we have paid less in other hotels and got much much better room. In need of a complete refurbishment and update.

My husband and myself stayed for two nights last Sunday to Tuesday. Loved it. Food was really good tho not much choice for a veggie and staff were amazing. We asked to be moved as next room was really noisy with tv on till 4am. Night porter dealt with noise efficiently and straight away and next day we were moved to another super room. The food is of high standard, decent ingredients & portions- eg variety of starters & on mains, size of prawns, which you often will not get restaurants using king prawns so much. Everything is very clean and staff are really polite and helpful, working as a team. Excellent value for money on the all you can eat offer, eveything cooked fresh & not at all greasy in fact remarkably well fried, dishes not oily but crisp. Well done, keep up good work & will tell my friends.

We have ordered food from this place twice in recent weeks as we are in the process of getting our kitchen renovated. Both times, we have ordered from the website with no issues, and there is plenty to choose off the menu. The website is really good at updating you as to how long it is going to take for the order to arrive and it was very accurate. We had different items on the two orders, pizzas and burgers and everything was delicious. When we have our kitchen back, at least we now know we have a great takeaway to treat ourselves now and again
