Nice rooms, but can be a bit noisy from residents above. Lifts can get a bit erratic around checkout time. Nice staff and great location with parking (£15-24 hrs) 2nd stay here, so it must be good.

Stayed for one night 10/1 in room 101. Rooms are well equipped, however, dated and tired. I dropped something on the floor and was horrified to see the state under the bed, dust, tissues, bottle tops and even a previous guest glasses. The edges of the room are not cleaned either - this isn’t a missed occasion, under beds and behind headboards have not been touched for months. Came away with dust mite bites everywhere. If I could upload a video l would do! Manager responded to my complaint offering 10% off if we booked direct again 🙈

Situated right in the heart of Harrogate with hotel parking out front but cheap parking in multi storey 5 mins walk away. Lovely hotel, rooms ok size wise, well furnished and benefiting from the fabulous Pickled Sprout bar & restaurant within the hotel

I stayed in 323, it needed a lick of paint and a little shelf in the shower (eg above the taps) would have been a great help. That tiny shower space meant you needed to bend down to pick up shampoo etc, but you have no space. Looks quite dated. Otherwise absolutely fine. Bed comfortable. Not the sort of room you'd want to have your dinner in given the size and dated look. Harry was a great concierge too.

I am writing to share my disappointment regarding an experience we had at your establishment on 8/12 . Following our wedding, my wife and I attempted to enjoy breakfast with members of our wedding party. We had called ahead to confirm that this arrangement was feasible and were assured that it would be no problem. After helping ourselves to breakfast and settling at our table, a staff member approached us with a card machine, which felt abrupt and unwelcoming. When I informed the staff member that we intended to pay after finishing our meal, I observed the member of Staff tell the others to keep a close watch on us, as though we might attempt to leave without settling the bill. The implication was both insulting and upsetting—particularly given that we were celebrating such an important occasion at your hotel. While the waiter in question did later offer an apology, the tone and behavior we encountered were inappropriate and not reflective of the standards expected at a four-star establishment. We left immediately, did not touch our food and the staff member in question could use some training in communication skills.

Stayed 2 nights for our anniversary, excellent position, car parking £15 a night this was fine as Harrogate is vert busy. Receptionist extremely pleasant and helpful. Our room was small but as I had asked for a view it gave me that, I was so pleased the windows opened as in many hotels you are deprived of fresh air.we ate in the restaurant and it was excellent, I agree with another comment a bottle of water would be standard. The staff were lovely and I would recommend this Hotel.

We called to ask if we could have breakfast even though we weren’t residents, the reception team confirmed all ok. We had got married the night before and some of our guests were staying at this hotel so were hoping we could have breakfast together. We arrived and were sat down by one of the waiters and we reconfirmed that we were due to pay. On return from the buffet the manager was stood over our table with the card machine. We asked if he could bring it back once we had finished eating. He then said loudly to the waiter make sure you keep your eye on them. In front of other hotel guests. It was extremely embarrassing. We ended up leaving because we felt so belittled.

Outstanding staff, location is amazing. Room a little tired and basic things like a bottle of water would add an extra touch but otherwise fantastic

Visited the Yorkshire Hotel 2 years ago and rated it 4 star went back this week and had an awful experience. Room was OK until I had some wild man knocking and swearing for me to open the door down at 1am. Unknown to me and my husband the walls are paper thing apparently and the man was angry he couldn't sleep as could hear us TALKING!!! I rang reception who were as useful as a chocolate teapot disgusting I felt threatened and petrified and no one bothered to check in on us next day to atleast acknowledge what happened. No phone in room either really disappointed customer service is everything and this case I was given none! Very disappointed

The helpfulness and friendlyness of the staff doesn't make up for the lack of facilities in the room. No double glazing- when the afternoon sun went down the heat drained out of the room. Also it meant at 5.00a.m the next morning the traffic noise started. The heater in the room has no instructions on how to use it so I had to call the front desk to operated it and leave it switched on. The bathroom although large had no shelves,so nowhere to put anything and the same for the shower. The only place to put shampoo and soap was on the floor. And finally the television had continual picture break up or lost altogether. Hotel was clean though. Due to the lack of room facilities I could only rate this a 3 star hotel.

Had a lovely overnight stay at the Yorkshire Hotel. We stayed in one of the rooms with a balcony which was nice. I'd rate it higher but I can honestly say this is the first hotel I've stayed in for as long as I can remember that didn't even provide some water for the room. Almost £250 for the night (with parking) so forgive me for thinking it should be a given. That said the room was lovely with a huge TV, comfortable bed and a good double shower. It was nice being able to lie in bed with the balcony doors open letting in the crisp Yorkshire air. Breakfast was decent and the views are great if you manage to get a window seat (breakfast is on the 5th floor) All in all it was a nice stay and the location is perfect.

Overnight stay for reasons. I wouldn't have wanted to stay longer since the free WiFi was weak at best. For one night, it was fine. Single room, which means second class, but the bed was comfy and the TV worked. The bathroom was bigger than the bedroom. Helpful staff. City centre location (some noise because of that). Basically no parking; do not be fooled.

Great location in the city, we walked everywhere from here. The staff were great. However the room was not amazing; very hot in the summer, and we had strange noises coming from the main light appliance that meant we didn't sleep all that well. They did give us a fan to combat the heat, but it was also noisy and unfortunately wasn't effective enough to justify the racket it produced. Honestly though I might stay here again if needed, just maybe not in the summer.

Room was a good size. Bed not very comfy. Breakfast was pretty good and the choice was excellent. The thing that let it down badly for us was not being able to get a table for an evening meal on our last night. I asked at 11.00am and was told no sorry we are full. Thought that it was really bad as not even offered a table at the bar or room service. We decided not to stay for our last night because of this.

Ideal location, but very pricey for what you get ! Breakfast ok but not worthy of the price, no extras in the room. Parking a problem if your not there early to get a space

Hotel from the front looks amazing as was the entrance and the out door drinking area .shame there was no waiter service here as s long way to go to fetch drinks . Reception was very helpfull checking us in as we were early by 2 hours .lifts are small and we were hit by a very strong smell of swet fronm a cleaner who was doing rooms on leaving the room it was still there .may be a word on personal hygiene for staff wouldnt go a miss .room was ok we didnt like the two single mattress pushed together and the view was terrible but there must of been worse ..hint ask for a room at the front of the hotel . Deco was getting tired and tv was looking like it had had better days . Coffee and tea making area was handy as was the iron .. morning breakfast is up stairs and was amazing .plenty to choose from fresh and tasty in a comfy relaxed area . Bar area is nice plenty of cocktails .. we were dissapointed with the room but the rest of the stay was ok .On the down side when you are staying here add on the parking per night see photo for prices .shocking .

I stayed in a single room here, which was clean, comfy and a good size for a single room. The breakfast buffet was really enjoyable. There was a great range of options available and the view from the 5th floor where I had the breakfast was great. The hotel was opposite Betty's Tea rooms and only a 5 minute walk from the train and bus station. The only downside was getting woken up at 2am by a couple having an argument outside. It was a Bank Holiday Weekend so lots of people were out late.

We have being visiting this cafe for over 15 years and always enjoyed visisting with family. The team in the yellow uniforms were always friendly and the prices VERY resonable. We enjoyed Xmas luches here and have great memories playing crazy / mini golf. Visited today hoping to enyoy cake and a latte, but noticed new owners have taken over. Sadly not a patch on previous set up and sorry to say the wonerful home made baking was replaced with uninspiring offerings. Latte was the worsed i have had in many years, can only be described it as white coffee, the owner was unimpressed and rude with me asking for a replacement. Will not be returning.

Stayed here on our way home to the West Country we stay almost every year. And this year was just as good as previous years. This year we stayed in house opposite the room I believe was called Braxton? It had a shower over the bath and a nice sized bathroom. The bed was huge and very comfortable, there ware extra pillows/blankets etc in a wardrobe if needed. There was kettle and cafetière with coffee bags. The breakfast the next morning was all cooked to order and great poached eggs. I would highly recommend this hotel and will be staying there again next year. :-)))))

I do not usually write reviews but I feel as though I have to after what I witnessed last night 28/11. After waiting 20-25 minutes for my food, I saw the fryer shouting at the gentleman on the Till area. I asked the young man if he was okay and I could tell he was getting upset. The chef was repeatedly shouting at him and telling him to go home and storming off and swearing at him whilst the gentleman did not respond and seemed to get upset. The worst part was that it was quite busy and the man on the till was obviously trying his hardest whilst the other gentleman working was seemingly walking around aimlessly, not helping, and doing nothing. I am disgusted by this, surely in this day and age abuse towards young staff should not be happening? After reading other reviews, I have seen that this is not the first time this has happened with the same Chef. Surely management has picked up on this? I was going to give the chef a piece of my mind but was concerned that it would only result in him shouting at the young gentleman further. I will not be returning when this man is working And I am advising friend and family to do the same.

Having visited the Tontine several times in the recent past, we looked forward to a nice Sunday lunch as a family. The visit was marred by underwhelming customer service, requests for water took several attempts before being served, the staff seemed uncommitted to delivering much of a service, and the food , frankly was at best average.I’m afraid that in view of the negative impression we had, it will be some time before we return, there are so many good local places to eat, it really is a disappointment to have to be so negative, must try harder would be my advice.
