The Crown Hotel in Wealden

The Crown Hotel Pub was a disappointment for drinks and a meal that me, my wife and brother in law had recently. For our second round, I stood at the bar for five minutes and was ignored. Other patrons who came up to the bar after me were served. Finally, I went back to our table and my wife went up and was served. She handled all of our interactions henceforth with the bar maid ie. drinks and ordering food etc. When our food arrived, I was not given utensils or servettes to eat my food. Luckily, I just ordered chunky chips and so I ate them with my fingers. Unfortunately some had rotten bits to it. Needless to say we will never come back. however (don’t despair) there is a fantastic traditional English pub down the High Street which I would highly recommend. They have great staff, drinks, atmosphere and a very friendly manager who chatted to us about football and we even petted his dog. I suppose if you are a local and you come in you will be greeted warmly and served first. Beware the weary travelor seeking a meal and lodging (?). You will have to “bully” your way at the bar and if you sit down expect to be ignored. When you do get your food you can also expect a cursory check on how things are going. Speak up if you have an issue. No parking was apparent to us. Maybe around back. Dunno? And really don’t want to know!

We only visited this pub for diner. It is not nearly as vegan as promised on their website. Mediocre in terms of dog friendlyness, especially according to English standards. But at least, we were allowed to enter with the dog. The ribs were good but the half portion that you can choose was a lot smaller than promised. Service was OK. Prices as well.

Bar/restaurant is a very comfortable place to relax in over coffee, a drink and/or a meal. I could have chosen anything on their specials menu today. Staff always friendly although they could probably do with one extra at busy times

Without having to drive, this hotel in the city center provides easy access to all amenities.

Met friends here for breakfast.. really tasty 8 items for £9 Inc., a slice of toast.

Can't comment on the room's as never stayed here but the staff here are lovely and the food is lovely too. My oh my is the Sunday lunch DELICIOUS!!! 😋. We travel half an hour drive to this place for the Sunday roast, great prices too. Definitely give it a try!

Absolute pleasure all round.10/10

I visit Hailsham at least twice a month and have never visited here until now, but I shall certainly be making it the place I go to eat and drink from now on. We visited here for lunch on Monday, there are loads of food choices on the menu for you to choose from, as well as having a proper coffee machine. There is a nice selection of beers and spirits to choose from. We ate off the lunch menu, my step child had Bacon and Brie Baguette with a salad garnish and side order of chips. I had a Tuna Mayo Jacket Potato with Salad (salad dressing was tasty). We drank a KitKat Milkshake with Vanilla Ice-cream and I had a Oat milk, Decaf Latte. The customer service was friendly and welcoming, the restaurant area is very well decorated with various Card Frames and Clocks. I found that the ladies toilet was very clean, well stocked and there is a baby changing unit. This is now my new favourite place to eat and visit in Hailsham so I will definitely be back.

One of the best places i have stayed for a long time The manager and his staff are the best we only chose to have breakfast It was the best cooked breakfast we have had in a very long time Even the locals were friendly . Defiantly Will be back

The room was in poor condition holes in the wall,water pressure was low so showering was difficult,the room was over the main entrance and where all the users of the pub congregated to smoke and make noise.Breakfast was average and not value for money and was not priced as advertised on booking web site one of our party requested no eggs due to allergy but when the breakfast arrived it had eggs on and the waitress was rude and felt there was an attitude and we had to justify why we was allergic to eggs standard practice is that question would be asked when ordering any food also we ordered brown brown toast and was given white bread we would rate the crown hotel stay as a poor experience and some staff seemed to have an attitude problem I would not rate this as a good experience and the price of £104.00 is extortionate for the privilege of my stay

First visit to stay in. Room nice and auited our needs really well. Food was really nice.

Stayed at The Crown the night of the 23rd May, we were pleasantly impressed. All of the staff were friendly, helpful and polite. We had two meals there, the food was good quality and well presented. Our room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, the room was a little dated, but certainly not scruffy. There was room to park our car. We thought The Crown was very good value for money, and would visit again

I would like to say what a very pleasure it was staying here this last few days. My son and I found room 14 very clean and very comfy. The staff Jolly and Fraser were extremely helpful and friendly went above and beyond to help you with a cheerful attitude. Full breakfast was well cooked and filling. I would definately give 10 stars and would book again next time I'm back in the area, to The Crown (Hailsham). Thank you for everything Sarah and son.

Nice and clean with very helpful staff the one bad point is not enough allocated parking spaces as there were only 3 cars booked in for our night but all spaces were full by the time we arrived and you are only allowed 2 hours on the ASDA car park at the rear of the hotel.

Just popped in on the off chance for a bite to eat before work and to make some phone calls. Good food, friendly staff

The Crown is in the heart of Hailsham. Serves drinks and food. Accommodation is also available. Lovely decoration. Sit away from the main bar if you are offended by bad language.
