Nearly good… hotel is good, spa nice. However, staff are pretty bad. Night staff don’t want to do room service and even said “I’m not coming to your room” even though menu says until 7am night menu and made me go all the way to him to collect it. Also, another member of staff was short tempered when they ended up being in the wrong. Good hotel, poor staff

Lovely hotel. Complimented with huge, modern clean rooms. The morning views are stunning. Very competitive room rates. The bar menu is well priced but not very comprehensive. The restaurant whilst offering a wider choice is somewhat expensive for a business traveller. Shame really, otherwise I would have given 5 stars.

I recently stayed at this spa hotel and while there were many positives, several issues left me disappointed. Pros - All the staff, from reception to the spa, were kind, professional, and happy to help, which created a welcoming atmosphere - The natural environment around the hotel was peaceful and tranquil, enhancing the overall sense of relaxation. - The treatments were a highlight—I had facials, and the therapists were lovely. The spa facilities, including the pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna, and hydrotherapy areas, were clean and well-maintained. The gym was modern and spotless, and the tranquility room was a relaxing space to unwind. - Food was great and quick to come out. Cons - The bedrooms felt outdated, with visible signs of ongoing refurbishments, such as plastic-wrapped carpet strips in the corridors. - Our double bed was made of two single beds zipped together, but the zip was broken. We only discovered this at 1 a.m., which made sleeping uncomfortable, as we kept falling into the gap. The night staff member was helpful and offered to move us to another room, but after a long journey and unpacking, we chose to stay. - The next morning, I raised the issue with the front-of-house team. They apologized and suggested I speak to the manager, but I was told to finish breakfast first and then return to speak with him. When I finally did, the manager offered no resolution or compensation and only provided the general manager’s card to email.

Lovely night away with my partner on a golf and spa weekend. Hotel is clean and well kept, rooms are really nice, we got upgraded to a family room which was huge. Spa is clean and nice cushioned sunbeds around the edge. I had a 25 minute back massage and I can honestly say it was one of the best I have ever had (sorry I didn’t get my therapists name but she was fantastic). Dinner was lovely although drinks and food is very expensive. We were served by Cody who was brilliant, really good service always with a smile and made us feel really at ease. The bar staff could learn a lot from Cody about customer service as they were very miserable and borderline rude. My partner was meant to be playing golf today but unfortunately because of the weather the course was closed, because of this they gave us a voucher to come back and use the golf course again which was a lovely touch, the lady in the golf pro shop was really nice and helpful. Also the lady at the driving range was extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the course. Overall a lovely stay in a clean hotel and spa, shame about the weather for the golf but we would definitely return!

Lovely spa break. Hotel rooms and food nice. Spa treatments and facilities lovely. Quite a busy venue and bar can get a bit noisy, specially if it's raining and no golf, but not a problem to me. One let down, I wasn't advised gym was undergoing a refurbishment on booking but at least this means they now have a new up to date facility.

Me and my partner used a voucher for a night away ,Breakfast was nice and dinner was satisfactory.Service staff was really nice and professional made us feel very welcomed so as reception staff. Spa and health club on the other hand was a bit disappointing, it was around 5 pm when we arrived at the pool and there was almost 20 people in the swimming pool and 10 people in sauna,it was like a public swimming pool.It was not very hygienic around the pool either. We had treatments , treatment area was clean and relaxing.Although when we first walked in it took a while for staff to welcome us /talk to us . Treatment staff was friendly and professional .However, the treatment itself was not satisfactory and I would not recommend to have the ultra nourishing wrap.My partner had a facial and he recommends that.

I was brought a cream tea voucher for two for my big birthday as requested as I had been before a few years ago and had such a lovely time. I decided to bring a friend along but was extremely disappointed at the food quality and overall attitude of the staff. They weren’t very busy probably 4 other people in the dining room. The sweet treats were practically all the same (apple and cinnamon) so if you don’t like one of them you wouldn’t like any of them. We felt like such an inconvenience to the staff they only offered coffee or tea. No menu, no explanation of what we were eating. We had to ask for butter for the ‘mini’ scones twice as it was not provided and when asked if we could have more sandwiches as we were still hungry from not liking the cake was refused which i wouldn’t of minded but you could of offered us to purchase if not included. I’m not one to complain usually as it makes me feel uncomfortable but on leaving the staff gave a rude look and comment of ‘leaving so soon’. Felt very uncomfortable and very disappointed.

I recently booked a golf weekend for 30th to 31st of August 2025. Paid the deposit for 12 golfers for 2 rounds of golf, dinner bed and breakfast. a couple of week later I email to move the booking by 1 week to the 6th and 7th of September. To move the booking by 1 week I was told the price for our trip would have to go up by 14%. this is despite rooms being cheaper to book in August and tee times costing the same in both August and September. At this point I requested moving the trip to Saturday the 13th of September as on their website it showed hotel rooms for £139 for 1 night on this date whereas the 30th of August a room I £175. Despite the rooms being £36 cheaper on the 16th of September than the 30th of August (all other aspects of the trip are the same price if booked individually) I was told that to move this to the 13th of september the price would still increase by 14%. Initially I dealt with Isaac who then put me through the his manager Alex. Neither of them could explain the twisted logic of the price for the room being cheaper but still having to pay 14% move. At this point I told Alex i was very unhappy and would be sharing my views on a google review and that we would leave the booking on the 30th of August and that when we do stay I expect good service as the treatment I had received so far had been poor. At this point she told me not the threaten them and that the conversation was being recorded. I made Alex aware that they needed to make me aware at the start of the call if it was being recorded. I asked to speak to a Manager and was told they weren't available. out of the 10 or so golf trips I have organised this was by far this was by far the most unpleasant to organise. I have attached screenshot of the room rates for the 30th of August and the 13th of September

Stayed here for a night, two rounds of golf, dinner and breakfast. The course was nice. Not amazing, some greens on the West were diseased, but overall I enjoyed the golf. The practice facilities...shocking! A bucket of 35 crusty old balls and barely a patch of grass to hit them off. Unbelievable. The chipping strip was just a weedy, patchy miniature fairway with grass slightly shorter than the surrounding rough, and slightly longer than the "greens" you are chipping to. The only thing worse than the practice facilities was the food. I had the pork roast, and my god it was awful. The pork must've been cooking since we booked our stay the previous year. If you don't know or can't be trusted cooking pork, then take it off the menu!! And I can only assume the cook thinks that roasting a potato simply means taking it out of boiling water and viciously mocking it. The cheese platter was a sorry looking and pitifuly-portioned lump of brie and Cheddar (presumably from the Co op) and some Branston's pickle. Not to mention, one of our group was sick the following day from having the fish so had to cut his round short! These venues get by on their course's reputation, and that is simply not good enough. Raise your game East Sussex National!

We had two nights here on a golf and spa break bought for us by our daughters. The room we were given was absolutely enormous - the biggest I've ever seen in a hotel! Everything about the East Sussex reminded me of an American hotel, where you think they must have been given a challenge to use as much space as possible... It was the same on the golf course - we played on the west course, which had long and wide fairways. It was beautiful with lots of water to try and get over! I attach a photo of one of the bunkers - a beach might be a better description! I should also say that the food was very good and the service in the restaurant was excellent.

The worst spa experience I’ve ever had. I booked a Morning Hideaway package at the East Sussex National for my husbands birthday and I’ve never felt more shortchanged, or quite frankly robbed of £180 in my life. The whole place is very tired, dirty and dingy. We tried to ignore this and hoped that the spa facilities and treatment would improve things but sadly they didn’t. We were shown to the ‘Health Spa’. The sauna, aromatherapy room and steam room weren’t even switched on, so we had to wait 50 minutes before they were hot enough to use. By which time it was almost time to go to our treatments. The treatment was supposed to start at 12pm, it was 12:05 when we got called in and once we had walked to the room, had the mini consultation and got undressed, the treatment itself can’t have been more than 10 minutes long as we were both out again at 12:20- it was supposed to be a 20 minute treatment. Both our treatments we felt were of poor standard and very rushed. Feeling disappointed, we went to reception to voice our concerns, where we were told to ‘just send an email’ and to go and enjoy our afternoon tea (which was the only good thing about the day in the end). We left what should have been a relaxing and tranquil experience, feeling more stressed and actually quite upset by the whole thing. Having worked in health clubs in the past, I’m shocked this place is still in business to be honest. Not worth the money- if you are debating booking a spa day here, it’s so worth paying a bit extra and going to one of their competitors.

Really nice golf course and spa. The grounds are fantastically well kept and parking / access is good. The staff on the front desk were well organised and efficient with checking us in. We paid for an upgrade to a large room with balcony and it was huge, clean and views were 10/10. The restaurant and bar staff were great and despite a number of large groups staying for golf tournaments, etc the food was great and the breakfast especially. The downsides for us was the lack of extra towels and bottled water in the room. It cost us £7 for a large bottle of still water at the bar. The AC did not work and we had mice droppings on our balcony table. There was lots of cobweb’s along the handrails so we stayed inside and didn’t actually use the balcony space much at all. Otherwise we had a great time and the treatments in the spa are especially worth a try with a semi-private chill out space with saunas and rainfall showers to cool off after.

Aggressive host - I forgot to give my view that is from a year ago so might have changed staff now. But I will never forget the aggressiveness of the host/kitchen manager. I went there to attend a prom celebration last year. Staff host/kitchen manager was being agressive with me when I was trying to manage teenagers who were piggybacking while dancing. I understand we had the same frustration to make sure they don’t hurt each other however the staff member shouted aggressively at me asking me “if I was a member of faculty “ and that I should “control them” which I already did. I unfortunately won’t forget this unfortunate lack of self control.

Off the A22 easily found. The facility is quite intimidating to a new arrival, but you soon get the hang of it. Only point to make is that it is not always obvious, when playing either course, the direction of the next hole. They should walk around with a visitor to see where signposts might be handy. Great courses though.

I would very much like to pass on my thanks to the Spa management and staff for a wonderful day yesterday. The whole ambience of the place is one of serenity and relaxation. The reception were able very quickly to resolve the minor issues that had arisen out of the booking process. After a professional check in and guided tour of the spa we were left to get ourselves changed and provided with a complimentary coffee. The pool was delight as were the steam and sauna facilities. Siobhan was my therapist and boy does she know her stuff the massage was incredible and the luxurious pedicure left me floating. The day was complete when we had afternoon tea in the hotel. The food was dainty, delicious and plentiful, in fact whole day was wonderful. I have had THE WORSE experience with this company. DO NOT BOOK!! I was bought a voucher to attend the spa for my birthday. Firstly, despite having paid directly with the company for a year-long pass, they could not find any evidence of the voucher. They kept redirecting me to 3rd party vendors, suggesting I had bought it with them (...I hadn't) and telling me I could not book over the phone, only email. Upon finding the voucher, it had all three of our names on it. I had given all our names to the receptionist, yet they had not been able to locate the voucher on their system. It took two days to book over email with the spa. I was sadly unable to attend on the day due to bad news. I called the spa- they tried to redirect me back to email. I pleaded to just sort over the phone and take my phone number. They agreed. Once I was off the phone they explained to my friends, who were there without me, that I would not be able to have my treatment rebooked or use my voucher. Despite JUST having given my phone number, they left my friends to explain this to me rather than picking up the phone to tell me. When I tried to make a complaint, I booked in a call with the spa Manager- Olivia. She missed the call without informing me. I tried to speak to someone higher up than her and was eventually put on to Phil. Phil took over a week to come back to me. He completely misunderstood what my complaint was about deeming it to be a "promptness" issue... its not. Then as a "good-will gesture", he offered me my voucher again... That isn't a good-will gesture buddy.... its what my friends paid for.

On the website it states hotel guests under 16 years old are allowed in the pool area between 10-12. I requested this so my baby could be with me but was denied because I was not a hotel guest. So if I brought a night's stay my baby could stay with me in/around the pool area which is all i wanted. I recently had the pleasure of staying at Spa resource East Sussex National, and it was truly a remarkable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by the tranquil beauty of nature, with a herd of fawn crossing our path, creating a mesmerising and almost spiritual atmosphere. The room was spacious and immaculately clean, providing a comfortable retreat amidst the natural surroundings. The staff at the restaurant were exceptional, displaying a high level of professionalism and ensuring our dining experience was nothing short of fantastic. However, I do hope that the receptionist at the entrance can slow down her explanation of the facilities, as her fast-paced, robotic tone detracted slightly from the otherwise warm welcome. At the spa, while the young lady could have smiled more, I understand that it was the end of the day and she may have been tired. Nonetheless, the facilities were outstanding, with the spa, steam room, and swimming pool all being impeccably maintained and providing a truly relaxing experience. The highlight of our stay was undoubtedly the delicious breakfast and dinner, which exceeded our expectations in both quality and variety. Overall, despite a few minor observations, I cannot recommend Spa resource East Sussex National highly enough. We will definitely be returning for another unforgettable getaway.

After booking through golfbreaks, the course was declared closed an hour before tee time. This happens, but some of us had driven from Manchester to be here. We asked for a refund for the weekend to book another venue in the UK to which ESN refuse to refund and will only give us credit. We are now stuck to stay at their premises and get a measly credit to cover some golf at a later date instead of doing the decent, obvious and good customer service option of refunding us so we can get on with our golf weekend elsewhere. Golfbreaks found us another hotel and course we could have moved the booking to but ESN refuse to refund, we now have to stay there and drive 50 mins each way to courses to keep any of this golf weekend going. Hands have been tied by the booking team at this course.

Booked a spa and overnight stay via Spabreaks. On the day, there was an issue with the booking and despite booking the spa treatment in a week in advance, i was only told on the day there was no availability for the treatment. It was frustrating as no one took responsibility of the poor communication. Spabreaks blamed the East Sussex venue and vice versa. But Meghan from the East Sussex Hotel still secured a room with an upgrade without the spa treatment there so thank you to her there. Food was excellent, room was spacious and the bathroom was clean and tidy. My only real gripe was the dinner included, we had to pay a surplus of £15 for a steak dinner? Despite this being included on the inclusive menu, thought that was unnecessary But overall had a nice and relaxing time.

We arrived at the hotel with the sole intention of providing our daughter with a pleasant experience, centered around enjoying a clean pool. To our dismay, we discovered that children are prohibited from using the pool on any day of the week. This revelation renders our stay at this establishment devoid of purpose, resulting in immense disappointment and a feeling of wastefulness regarding our expenditure. Additionally, the spa receptionist’s behavior was completely unacceptable, as she callously made my daughter dissolve into tears without so much as a glance in our direction. This lack of empathy is a stark departure from the expected standards of hospitality. It is pertinent to note that the spa and pool facilities operate independently from the hotel, a fact which was not adequately communicated. Furthermore, the demeanor exhibited by the spa receptionists was unacceptably rude and peculiar. Regrettably, our visit culminated in disappointment for our daughter, coupled with a two-hour drive to reach this isolated location. We recommend seeking accommodation at reputable establishments such as the Holiday Inn, marriot, copthorne etc… where sincerity and family-friendly amenities are assured. This hotel, by contrast, appears to cater more towards mature individuals or business travelers seeking solitude, rather than families seeking a pleasant stay.

Really impressed. All staff including some very young were very polite and helpful. Toilets spotless and didn't smell bad. Food was great and plenty of it.

Lovely hotel and spa, stayed for a package deal that included a spa treat dinner, bed & breakfast. Rooms were a little tired but looks like they are in the process of being refreshed. Food was very nice as was all the communal areas, the views, the spa and all the staff. A nice getaway.

Visited with my family and friends as a group of 7. Such a lovely warm and inviting traditional English countryside pub! We came for Sunday lunch and had cosy table by the bar with a bench on one side which I must say was very comfortable! The pub was busy with a great Sunday afternoon vibe. Considering it was busy, the service was excellent! Our main waitress was very attentive, smiley and patient as we dithered over our choices! I had the roast lamb and shared a side of cauliflower cheese with my husband. The meat was tasty and the giant homemade Yorkshire really topped it off! It was a perfect comforting roastie. All the puddings were a very generous size and I had the crumble which was certainly the best crumble I have had in a long time! The kids enjoyed their food too and probably down to the ambient atmosphere they were well behaved and happily colouring in while the adults chatted! We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely be back again soon!

I try to see the positive in everywhere we go unfortunately that can’t always happen. My husband and I were passing yesterday and thought we’d stop for a bite to eat. It was around 11:45am. On entering the music was on, as was the fire - unfortunately we waited by the bar for a good 5-7 minutes before a member of staff (male) approached the bar area (looking at his phone). When he finally acknowledged us, I asked if they were serving food his response was not till 12 o’clock. My husband and I looked at each other and decided it was best to go somewhere that does want our custom. So unfortunately I can’t comment on food but the service and ignorance of staff member really let it down. The building looks beautiful, such a shame we didn’t get time to experience it.
