Was really looking forward to going here as we had heard some good reports about the food. But we were really disappointed pasta dish, fish and chips were over done, sea bass full of bones tried to send fish and chips back the waitress who we told just walked off not great

Always a friendly welcome here. Warm & cosy atmosphere & a lovely meal. The Stilton & broccoli soup was delicious & thoroughly enjoyed our roasts. Meat was cooked really well & the amount of veg really generous. At 2 courses for £15 or 3 for £18, this is a lovely mid week treat.

We were three ladies on a rare night out. I had pan fried sea bass with capers, roasted new potatoes and tenderstem Brocolli. It was really well cooked and delicious. The restaurant was vibrant and atmospheric and we were served by cheerful efficient and friendly staff. Thank you!

I had soup of the day which was served cold. Main course I had seabass which was swimming in oil along with 6 of the smallest potatoes. Went home and had a sandwich as I was still hungry. Wouldn't recommend.

Excellent meals for all three of us. Food was delicious and the service was top class. Katie made sure we were extremely well looked after and was super efficient. All staff were very pleasant, creating a relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Although I’ve been for drinks previously, I’d not eaten there. Will definitely be revisiting.

Can't recommend this restaurant enough! This is a very delayed review bit I've been meaning to do it ever since we visited. My partner booked here for me and my family to celebrate my 30th birthday last year and I couldn't fault the service and food it was beautiful! The service and kindness of the staff is what stood out to me as we had my newborn with us and just as my food was served our baby had woken ready for a feed, the gentleman manager at the time saw this and kindly asked if I would like my food to be kept warm whilst I fed and I happily agreed as many will know a hot meal with a newborn can be rare!! This may be a silly gesture to others but to me it meant a lot and it meant after my baby had finished that I could sit have have a nice hot meal on my birthday. And it was a gorgeous meal at that, so really it's just a thank you to that gentleman manager that was working on 17th April last year. I really appreciate your kindness 😊

Booked for party of 13 birthday celebration. Lovely staff friendly and polite. All food came out together, lovely presentation, all meals hot. Attentive staff but not over the top just kept checking we had enough drinks and what we needed. First visit will be returning thank you everyone x

Fab location to celebrate my 50th, we hired the Tipi which was a brilliant private space and great party venue. Hog roast was plentiful and tasted amazing. Staff could not do enough to serve us and ensure we had the best experience. Massive thanks to Darren and the team, highly recommend this venue and will definitely be back soon to visit the restaurant

Had a pleasant lunch, restaurant almost empty but a few couples in the garden having a drink. Service was great couldn't fault it, lovely welcome. Unfortunately the food was mediocre. The wine was nice. Would definitely go back though, it's a very nice setting and good countryside views.

Nice location, friendly staff, good menu. I have eaten here a couple of times before and had a good meal, especially the cod. But this time I was not entirely happy with everything. The garlic chicken bonbons starter is tasty but way overpriced at £9 for what was essentially three small chicken nuggets in garlic sauce. That to me is pretentious and exploitative. The price wouldn't be that high at a restaurant in the Mailbox. At least the £8.50 mushrooms starter was more wholesome and extremely tasty. My £34 ribeye steak was ok, but even though I asked for medium rare it was rare throughout most of it and was quite chewy. Unfortunately, when the waiter asked if all was ok I had only eaten the edge and it was good to that point. I will probably return as I am hoping this was a one-off but will be more selective over the menu next time.

We celebrated our 10th anniversary of our netball club here last night. The venue was really accommodating right from the start. They welcomed me in on their day off to discuss a booking, and were really easy and amicable to communicate with. Not only that but they offered us a discounted service and also went the extra mile in offering additional vegetarian options. Every single staff member over the entire time has been kind, approachable, helpful and excellent in communication. We as a club cannot thank you all enough for making our night such a huge success. Food was amazing and fairly priced - took my family for a family meal with my young nephew, they were very accommodating and we had a wonderful time - will be returning!

Add fish and chips batter overcooked no fish in it had apple crumble dessert three of us sent it back. It was terrible.

I need to share this with you all 🙏🏻we have just had my mother in laws wake there yesterday 🙏🏻🥲and the manager and all the lovely staff that looked after us all were fantastic and went above and beyond to make us welcome 👍🏻🙏🏻♥️the service smile when we arrived to the food and easy atmosphere was impeccable 👍🏻thank you so much for everything you did for this very sad but memorable wake 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻🙏🏻

My new favourite (nicer than the Lyttleton) Delicious food and a lot less tables than 'elsewhere' which meant the service was very quick. Gluten free options too.

Great restaurant, we had our christening here in the tipi! The hog roast was amazing ! Lovely location too with views of beautiful fields. Staff did everything they could to make it special :)

Absolutely lovely meal. It was our first time eating at the Crown and all of our food was exceptional. The only let down was the potatoes on the Sunday roast, some of them were a bit raw in the middle. But a tiny issue for a fabulous overall meal.

Staff were very obliging and attentive. Great food quality, reasonably priced and good choice range on Prix Fix menu and a good selection of drinks to compliment it. The visit was enjoyed by the whole party to celebrate a wedding anniversary in a pleasant and unhurried environment, We will definitely be returning.

Booked a few days in advance and requested seating in the terrace outside. On arrival was shown to a seat indoors. Then asked for an outside seat and was met with a grumpy look. Was then sat outside, and after ordering food and waiting 45 minutes was told they were very busy and there was a wait for food. Food came about 15 minutes later. 2 out of 3 of us didn’t enjoy the meals, they were overcooked and looked thrown together in a rush. Not once did anyone check on us for the rest of our visit, offer more drinks or see if wanted dessert - they didn’t even remove the plates from the table. Eventually we asked for the bill which took another 30 minutes and we eventually just had to pay at the bar. Was told they had a big party in and that’s why we had such awful service. The manager eventually gave us a discount after we complained, but our evening was ruined at that point. If you have a huge group in that you’re going to prioritise over all other guests, don’t take more bookings or our money in the first place! We won’t be returning.

The food was from the set menus which was very good value for money and presented very well. The staff were helpful and left us enough time in between the courses.

The crown is a well run pub and restaurant serving great food in a lovely setting. We sat in the outside tent to watch the England game and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere, efficient service and great quality snacks and drinks. The restaurant serves a ‘euros menu’ that did seem a little limited to the full menu and tables were not laid out for food to be served, I also felt there should of been some deserts advertised on this menu. However I must say this is a great option to watch future sports games and will be my go to for England games.

We had a couple of meals there, and the food and service were excellent. I'm probably being a little picky with this, but the one day we just popped in for a cool pint and I couldn't believe they didn't sell chrisps or peanuts of any kind which was a shame . 😕

First time there, lovely place yo eat good location, you can dine out side, staff pleasant.

Been coming to this gem for years but never left a review. Whether its a special occasion or just a weekend brunch this place never disappoints. Staff are always extremely helpful and welcoming, great atmosphere and great food. Menu often changes so you'll never get bored of what's up for offer. The food is always incredible but we always come back because of the staff and atmosphere.

The food today was not of the usual high quality. Most of it was cold and not particularly appetising. Service generally was excellent.

Gorgeous place to enjoy a cocktail with a lovely view. The food is always on point and really delicious. Service is always friendly and the staff are attentive. Cocktails are yummy. The views overlooking the fields are beautiful. Always our go to when we catch up with friends.

Food was great and so was the service. The only issue was that we were located next to a window and it was crafty. We sat there with coats on. We couldn’t move as it was a full restaurant of which we understand as the pub is lovely. Really good meals otherwise it would have been a 5 star rating

Disappointing…. Table was sticky and had not been cleaned, service was slow, set menu unavailable after 7pm which wasn’t made clear on website. Vegetable cold however pie delicious.

Went for a wedding which was held in the teepee. Very Very cold only had 2 heaters to heat it. Not enclosed so the weather was with us. My dress was soaked at the bottom as floor was wet. We were all sat in coats and wrapped in blankets would NOT recommend.

We held our wedding at the tipi, it was a wonderful day, staff especially Katie looked after us so well, the food was amazing, everyone commented on the tasty food and great venue.

The food was lovely as usual but our experience was marred because we were so cold. This has happened on two previous occasions so obviously nothing is being done to improve the situation. It’s such a shame.

A fabulous pub / restaurant with a lovely ambiance. Celebrated a surprise birthday lunch for my mum and with friends. The food was outstanding as was the attentive service and very friendly. Highly recommended and gather a dog friendly pub too as noticed a dog biscuit jar on the side. Definitely worth a visit and one we will use again. Sunday lunch is absolutely gorgeous every time. The service is great too. Not sure of her name but lady with brown straight hair and braces might be a manager as she wears a different top to the other girls. She is so good, perfect customer service always lovely can’t do enough for you.

It was a Saturday impromptu late lunch/early dinner. We felt welcomed, the food was perfect, good service from friendly attentive staff, Joss was outstanding, professional, helpful and her natural warmth shone through. We were glad we stopped by, it was well worth the visit and we will go back.

A return visit after a not so good previous experience. What a turn around! Our table was near the fire and this area was warm and cosy. Almost immediately we felt relaxed and comfortable. Our drinks arrived in good time. Staff on point and efficient and we were not disappointed when the food arrived. Beautifully cooked, hot plates and fabulous flavours. Perfect. We’re so pleased we gave The Crown a ‘second chance” to impress. We’ll definitely be back soon!

Three generations for Sunday lunch. The food , service and experience were all excellent. Our waitress Joss , was wonderfully attentive and really looked after the five children. Would highly recommend and all the family agreed it’s on our list to revisit.
