Fantastic meal for two on a Thursday evening. Very tasty and great service at a reasonable price. What more could you ask for.

Tried this restaurant for the first time yesterday, have to say was impressed. The food was piping hot and presented well, staff very pleasant. The naans were smaller than we've had at other restaurants but very nice. If you drink cola and like it cold then ask for a refrigerated one or lots of ice. Special deals on Sunday and Thursday evenings good value at £15.95 for pappadom, minted yogurt, starter, main course with rice or naan bread, followed by coffee or tea. Easy parking on car park close to restaurant.

The wife and I had a pleasant meal here a couple of Friday nights ago. It's been a very long time since we last ate here but for no reason other than we like to try new places. The staff are very friendly and helpful perhaps a little pushy but pleasant enough. There was nothing wrong with the food although it could have been a hotter in temperature, especially the onion bhaji. That said they do provide a food warmer. The main courses were OK, I would have liked mine to have been a bit more flavoursome but others might possibly disagree. Drinks were OK but my wife would have liked a small bottle of prosecco given the chance. Regardless of whatever anyone thinks, it has been around a long time and appears to have an established customer base, especially for their midweek offer.

We as a party of 6, tried to visit here on Saturday night, and was told only takeaway available. This was at 11'o clock, when it states 11.30 on the Web. We have previously called to ask what's the latest time they expect dinners, to which we were told 9.30 if they have no customers. Think it's a confusing closing times, can't plan a night out.

The madras is 10/10. All the starters are bang on. The staff are very attentive. It's been in my village before I was born and is always a place I can guarantee to impress. A wall heath tradition. Get down for the deal Sunday and Thursday you won't be disappointed 👌

I've used the Alam for more than 40 years and have never been disappointed whether it is a meal for two or a party of 12. The food is good, the service is excellent, the atmosphere is perfect and the hygiene standards are 5☆. Everyone in the current team, whether in the kitchen or front of house, is fantastic. They are polite, cheerful, knowledgeable and patient with those who can't make up their mind. They also manage to cook meals to fit in with my special dietary requirements.

I just want to know who thought this would be good idea to put curry inside nan dough and fry it! Because it’s definitely one of the worst things that has ever touched my taste bud. Where do I start the dough isn’t cooked inside and outside it’s got very strong smell of oil. I’m sorry it’s not it. I give it a 3 because it was a quick collection and it was warm. I got free papadoms and chutneys which is great.

Outstanding in every possible way, can’t fault them even if I tried! We were greeted at the door, shown to our table, made comfortable and then had our drinks order taken. Once we’d had time to settle in and look at the menu, our food order was taken. Our food arrived quickly and the waiters were very friendly, respectful and professional. We had a good chat and a laugh/joke too. You literally just sit there, enjoy yourself and they do the rest! We weren't rushed, everything was at our pace and when we were ready. Now, I’m not really much of a tipper but I did on this occasion, as they really deserved/earned it! The food was probably the best I’ve ever tasted at a curry house, by far! For reference, we had starters, mains and of course Poppadoms. Prices are fair and portion sizes are decent, for this cost of living day and age… It shows how you’ve been going for so long! So keep up the good work guys and we’ll keep returning! VERY highly recommended 👍🏻

Taste of food was great. Unfortunately starters were cold, over 90 mins wait for main meal (we did book) and extras put on bill at end. Disappointing when meal was ok but you have been over charged, clearly trying to take advantage of a larger group and an extra few £ per person being absorbed.

Very friendly staff and helpful. Even that your coats for you and hang them up. Food was so nice 👍. This was a spare of the moment date night somewhere different. We will go back, it was a lovely evening.

Fab little place! The staff couldn’t do more for you and service is with a smile. You are made to feel very welcome. The selection of food was brilliant and there were several dishes I struggled to choose from as they all sounded lovely and the food around the room smelled amazing! They have a deal on Thursdays for poppadoms, starter, main and side, and tea or coffee for only £15.95 and this was amazing value. Plus they treated us to a complimentary baileys or whiskey at the end! Highly recommend and looking forward to going back soon!

Well I don't normally give reviews But I must do one today I had a chicken tikka bhuna which was very watery with no taste no spices Awful. My wife had chicken tikka masala Awful taste like barbecue sauce. When I was asked if everything was ok? I said No. The manager said that's that's fine it's my opinion WHAT ? When I Questioned the Bill £ 45 he said everything has gone up. So two half lagers two curry's one chip one naan one rice £45 OMG I did pay and told him I would leave a bad review He responded by shrugging his shoulders . I would not recommend this Restaurant on the service I received

Haven't been to the Sunday night 4 course special for sometime so decided we would return as it was really nice and pleasant on our last visit. On this occasion went for the 4 course special again, started were very enjoyable including shish kebab, kebab rolls and the usual starting poppadoms. Mains included chicken tikka bhuna massala and chicken tikka chilli massala, boiled rice and cheese naan. Unfortunately both curries were very bland and tasteless. We had also ordered a takeaway for other family members which we discovered we wrong when we got home but was too late by this point. We have woke this morning having only what can be described as exploding diarrhoea. This has been all family members both that ate inside and from the takeaway. This has unfortunately ruined our experience and our opinion of the Alam and will not be returning.

It was lovely to go back to a good local restaurant. Food was as good as ever. Staff were attentive and helpful. Service was excellent.

I have been coming here for 34 years - absolutely amazing service. Amazing food and you can't beat this restaurant. We now travel a hour just to come to this restaurant and will continue to come back again and again. This is a pure gem of a restaurant and if you haven't tried it then your missing out!!!! This is a regular place we love to eat at, food and service is always fantastic. Our daughter loves fish pakora which isn’t on the menu but they cook it for her without any bother. We went for New Year’s Eve and have a great night. As always the food was delicious and the service was exceptional. A favorite for us 😊

Been here regularly before always been good but new years eve meal, wasn't good at all, had a table for 6, at 6pm, starters come out 40 minutes later then our mains come out at half 7, food was cold, we recommended to our family how good it was so they come with us didn't have good experience at all shame really don't think I'll be going back

Brilliant tasty food and very friendly staff. I went on a Sunday night and took advantage of their deal, any starter, any main and either a rice or naan with tea or coffee at the end all for £14.95 which in my opinion is a brilliant offer. The portion sizes were great and all the food was very tasty, the keema naan I had contained plenty of lamb aswell. Even though we didn't book a table they managed to fit us in even though the restaurant became busy later on in the night, I would definitely recommend booking a table in advance to avoid disappointment. Plenty of parking available around the back of the restaurant so no need to worry about that. 10/10 will definitely be visiting again

Called in to have table - told come back 45 minutes , called after 20 mins to confirm and told not to bother as we won’t get table ? Very poor customer service in my opinion

Collected my order which staff were very nice , but being a local and going there for years the food now was very bad . Curry watered down . One pot of mint sauce to share with 2 x tandoori chicken starters and 4 poppadoms very disappointed and will not be returning there for food any more

Staff are very respectful and friendly and Currys are packed of flavour and always the same! Reasonably priced too

New years eve meal was two and a half hours late stood in the restaurant for 90mins being fobbed off by staff its coming in a minute . Other customers waiting longer one had meal ordered for 8.30 was told 3hours was his waiting time . My order was wrong when i eventually got it home. Try Wall Heath Tandoori instead next time heard new chef is good.

6 of us went to this restaurant tonight, The food was first class, well presented and tasty. The staff were very attentive and happy to have our custom. However, we used this restaurant after reading an article in the express and star that stated the restaurant was doing the extended eat out to help out discount. Until the 16th of sept..When the bill arrived it was without a discount and they said that the offer had finished. The restaurant and our party were all embarrassed to be told the offer had finished. But the staff made a phone call and honoured the discount. We cannot praise this restaurant enough. We left there with full bellies and lots of praise for the staff and food.We will definitely return. Thank you Alum staff, much appreciated ❤️Express and star should hang their heads in shame.

Hands down, this is the best Indian restaurant I have ever visited - not only was the food amazing, but the service was genuinely nice. We will all absolutely come back again. We highly recommend this place.

I would never have found out about this hidden away epid curry house if they didn't have a website. Just down the road from me too and a good find because they really know their onions here, everything we've tried so far has been really quite special.

Nice tasty food but very small portions.It was like going back to the early eighties with the decor but the staff are excellent with the knowledge of the food and they have a genuine sense of humour.Nice tasty food but there are now better value for money places.

I love the vibe of the place but that's only a third of the story, the 2nd part is the great food! I love Indian food and this place is definitely up there. 3rd is the staff, very lovely and down to earth.

DIABOLICAL. We went here for birthday celebrations for a friend who lives in the area however we had never been as we usually go to the Wall heath tandoori, and we wont be returning as in our eyes it doesnt compare in the slightest. As you walk in, it's like an over the top indian restaurant that you would expect to see out of only fools and horses. We went as a group of 8, the only positives are:- >The younger members of staff where friendly. >Good choice of beers. My wife isnt a big fan of indian cuisine and usually has chicken omelettes if we go to an indian resteraunts, however is currently pregnant so can have eggs if they are british lion stamped. My wife asked the manager if the eggs where british lion stamped, however he didnt know what british lion stamped eggs were, we where a little puzzled that someone in the food industry didnt know what this was and as we tried to explain he got flustered and demanded she order something else, so she asked for the butterfly chicken, to which he said it uses eggs and again demanded she order something else. In the end she asked for chicken nuggets. We felt a little degraded by the way my wife was treated. When he bought the dishes out the bring the indian dishes out on a hot open flame trolley which is a nice touch, however he handed my wife her dish and it was incorrect, he gave her scampi and fries not chicken nuggets, we told him this and the changed it. My food was average at best but the portions where tiny in comparison to other Indians I had, everyone else on the table agreed and thought that the Indian was just ok, some of the dishes didnt taste how the should as the massalla was extremely sweet. When the bill came we all agreed that the sizes of the dishes didnt reflect the pricing as none of us where full and usually I am after a good indian and also there are better tasting Indians within the area that are cheaper and better quality. To summarise if you want to go to a nice Indian in wall heath, don't waste your time here go to the wall heath tandoori around the corner.

On Thursdays and Sundays the Alam offers a very reasonably priced set menu and is without a doubt one of the best Indians myself and my partner have tasted locally. They have a great range of alcoholic drinks on offer and the staff are very friendly and cant do enough to ensure your visit is great. Cant recommend enough if you live in or around wall heath and fancy trying a new indian restaurant!

Great place, food is subtle and delicious

This restaurant is quite hidden at the end of a small shopping precinct and I didn't know it was there, but visited it on a recommendation. What a pleasant surprise.! The staff were friendly and pleasant and there were obviously a number of regular customers. Service was quick in spite of being busy and with takeaway customers as well.The food offered all the usual curry house choices but what set it apart was the presentation and delicious flavours. Really well done.Will certainly visit again
