U think there are pubs out the that think of there costumers we'll there isn't the crown pub in abbot's Bromley is all about money not there costumers as long as ur paying they don't care and if ur face fits then u can go in I suffer from black outs and I have been told I can't come in cause the landlord don't like it

Ended up here after being let down by another pub. Service efficient and very friendly. Extensive menu reasonably priced. Food good and plentiful. Cannot fault, Will definitely go again.

The menu is quite extensive, so I worried a bit what the quality would be like, but I shouldn't have. We had the Duck and the Lamb's Liver and both were beautifully cooked to order. Excellent beer selection too.

Excellent meal, good value, staff were attentive. Sunday Lunch was top notch! Need to get a coffee machine or improve on what they serve, coffee was so strong, very little milk offered and disappointing. We will go back, hopefully they have a coffee machine by then!

We went to the Crown for a hearty evening meal after exploring a local national trust property on a slightly wet afternoon... It was fairly quiet in the restaurant on a week night, although the bar was busy with the locals after football practice! The welcome was warm and the food delicious, well presented and well priced. The service was attentive, informal and not over-bearing! I can recommend the Beef and Mushroom Stroganoff and the Lamb in Mint Gravy (which we tried).

Visited while in the area for a wonderful Sunday lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Realy lovely roast, beautiful mash, lamb, roasties,.plenty of veg. Staff very friendly. Great pub

Excellent food. Due to a misunderstanding we did not have a booking. The manager fitted us in a bit later and the food was very good, hot and freshly cooked. Clearly a popular place and well patronised. I would definitely recommend . A large car park at the back but it was very full and looked like it was being used as a space for car sales which was a bit disconcerting. I didnt want to come out and found my vehicle sold!

After a nice ride round the surrounding areas we decided to try The Crown for lunch. We were the only ones in there as it had just opened for lunch. We were welcomed in and could either to eat in the bar or restaurant. The menu has a decent selection of starters and mains plus a light bite menu as well as a specials board. The service was good. Hubby had belly pork with a mild mustard sauce and I chose the lamb. The veg came in separate dishes, which I personally liked, and was cooked to perfection. The lady behind the bar was very welcoming and told us a bit about Abbots Bromley. A nice place to visit and see the surrounding villages.

Definitely above average food. The food is really good. And the service welcoming and helpful. Would definitely recommend this place.

What fantastic meal and service we had at this restaurant, the chef is obviously very experienced and highly qualified everything was cooked to perfection and obviously very fresh. The price is very competitive for a pub/restaurant of this quality. I thought the choice wasn’t over powering but there was plenty of choice for all tastes. One last comment for the excellent service the young lad who served us he was polite, prompt and nothing was to much trouble. Will definitely recommend this place and the service we had 👍👍👍👍👍🥂

Went for a Saturday evening meal and the food was fantastic! I had a delicious lamb rump in the most beautiful sherry sauce and my fiance had the wonderful goulash! We finished off with a divine cheesecake! Would definitely recommend and will be returning for sure!

A friend and I visited early one evening for necessary thirst-quenching. The bar staff were friendly and chatty, so I resolved tor eturn later to eat, as I was staying locally for the night. The bar was very lively, as the local football team had finished its practice, but in contrast the restaurant side was empty. I enjoyed my meal, servedon a very hot plate (good). A couple of points that haven't detracted from the overall experience: I would have liked some fresh vegetables and - not that this was fixable - being the only person in the restarant was slightly unnerving.

After an appetising walk with dog near Blithfield Reservoir we decided to grab lunch at The Coach. Covid Safety measures were in place, and they accept dogs (bar area). Window table overlooked the village green and war memorial, the autumnal sunshine adding to the view....

Called in from our way back from Lichfield and this delightful corner of Eastern Staffordshire came up trumps.Rosie our waitress looked after us( She has a cat called Elsie) and the food was terrific and good value.Sadly as I was driving I couldn't drink any alcohol but they have several good Bitters on offer.Was even asked how I wanted my chilli which was a first and my wife loved her Steak and Ale pie.Toilets were immaculate,Safe Distancing well done and the only fault was no beer mats but otherwise great and will be back to this lovely part of England.

We stayed in the village for a short break and went to The Crown every day!Nicky is a brilliant landlady and leads her team from the front. The food was excellent and all the staff were very attentive and dilligent - especially important in these difficult times.Attention to detail and cleanliness was very apparent and nothing was too much trouble. Our (rather large!) puppy, Mason, was welcomed and fussed over, and on one occassion, looked after by Nicky so we could relax and enjoy our meal.A truly wonderful ambience with staff and locals alike creating a very welcoming and confortable atmosphere.We arrived as strangers but felt that we left as friends.

Visited yesterday. Despite it being really busy the food was lovely beautifully cooked. I had lamb and it was so tender and served in a delicious mint gravy. My friend had pork and again plentiful portions of meat hot and quality hearty food.Well spaced out tables. Would be better if menus were wipeable and condiments were wiped after use.

Friends night out 4 of us what a lovely restaurant, firstly great service from the waitresses, secondly the starters, mains and puds high quality we are pleased to say, well presented and timely. Well done The Crown.

Popped in for lunch and had the chef's speciality Goulash & I can recommend this winter warmer to anyone, please try it you will not be disappointed. My partner had the schnitzel which just melted in our mouths, I had to try some. Thank you to Jamie & the Team top service and value for your money.

We went to the Crown for dinner whilst staying in Abbots Bromley for the night. There was plenty of choice of places to eat, but we couldn't have chosen better. The staff were very friendly and professional. There was an excellent range on the menu, the meal was served in good time and was perfectly cooked and piping hot. We shared a portion of breaded mushrooms to start, which was lucky due to the portion size! For mains I had the Duck a l'orange and my husband the Hungarian Goulash.the dishes were all served with a choice of different styles of potatoes and seasonal veg or salad which came out on separate serving dishes in generous portions.I couldn't fault the meal we had, lovely surprise - thank you to all at The Crown.

Table for 7 semi-fussy people.Cannot pick a fault. It's all what it was on the menu and more. Cooked and served hot and timely.I will definitely be going back for more of the mixed grill, such value for money and a massive meal!If you havnt tried and live near it's a no brainer! Very good food and staff are very friendly. Sunday lunches are very tasty and freshly cooked. No soggy veg and lovely gravy and Yorkshire puddings!

It was a last minute decision to go out for dinner with our friends but we got a table although they were quite busy. Despite that the service was excellent. The menu is extensive and the fixed price menu is exceptional value for money. I had the steak and ale pie and because it is cooked fresh, takes at least 20 minutes to arrive. All I can say is that it is well worth the wait. It was incredible. The pastry was perfect, the steak filling cooked to perfection and the chips and vegetables just added to the experience. I was just so pleased that did not have a starter, although sorely tempted because would not have done justice to the main course. Definitely added to our hit list.

What a fabulous place.The food was out of this world, the vegans in our party also commented how good the food was.Jamie, Nicki and Amanda made our day with their friendly atmosphere.From the time we contacted them they where so friendly and professional, helping us in so many small ways.Can't recommend them highly enough.

My daughter and I returned to The Crown after a long break and enjoyed a very good evening meal. A very extensive menu included many classic steak dishes and a touch of central Europe. There is also a fixed price menu which again has a very good selection of dishes. We both had a very good meal which was served with a smile. I asked for my salad to be dress and it was. Very happy and it is now on our list to return shortly.

The Crown is in a lovely location by the small village green. I visited last night with my Mum and two friends and can honestly say it was the nicest meal I’ve had eating out in a very long time. We ate from the 2 courses for £12 menu that is served during the week and I thought that the servings may have been smaller but the meals were very generous. I had a beautiful steak with lots of vegetables that were perfect and the chips were gorgeous. Everything homemade which makes a massive difference. The Beer battered cod looked lovely as well. Fantastic choice of puddings were available, highly recommend the cheesecake with a ginger biscuit base! On glancing at the full menu there appeared to be plenty of variety. The drinks were also very reasonable in comparison to other places. Last but not least the staff who served us were delightful and made our evening special. We can’t wait to visit again, will definitely try sunday lunch. Thanks very much The Crown at Abbots Bromley, would recommend to anyone.

Drinks come quick, then harassed to order food several times until I cottoned on that they only serve to until 2pm which I then told my friends. This is something the barmaid should have pointed out. I ordered a bar meal of southern fried chicken strips and chips.

We arrived as a family with 2 young children and were made to feel very welcome. We decided to sit I the garden which was peacefulthe food was lovely.

We have been going for Sunday lunch and it’s really good . The beef is lovely along with the Yorkshire puddings and great value. The staff and Jamie as first class as always. I would book in advance though

Just took the family to The Crown for a meal and i've got to say the food was first class. I had the Wiener Schnitzel, my daughter had a steal from the set menu and my wife had the goulash. All three were sublime and great value to boot. Enjoyed the beer and the very reasonable wine too. 10/10 :-)

We had been for a drink plenty of times but gave the restaurant a go after good reports. The reports were right - the food was great. Proper chips, good range, great beer and fast and friendly service. Definitely recommended for a pub meal+.

Fantastic home cooked food. We’ve been there a few times now and they never fail to deliver. Everyone who works there are so happy and smiling and the atmosphere is opening and very welcoming. You don’t have to wait long either for a good hot wholesome meal to be brought to your table. The prices are very reasonable. I haven’t got a bad word to say about this place. Go and see for yourselves you really won’t be disappointed.

I am sorry to tell you that the food here is pretty awful. I had a dried-up, overcooked piece of plaice with soggy chips that had been cooked in unpleasant tasting oil and then left in a heater for some time. The other veg was okay except for the undercooked broccoli.

The food and service were simply excellent. I also recommend the real ale, there is always a great choice and very well kept, we will return soon thank you

It took over an hour for any food to arrive. When it did the very small piece of sea bass I was presented with, was completely dried up, a peculiar dull yellow colour and cold. The food was literally dumped on the table in a hurry and the staff turned on their heals before you could speak.

Sunday Lunch Treat - return visit, food still excellent as are the friendly staff. Busy so advised to book. Always made to feel welcome. Highly recommended.

Having been recommended we try The Crown again after many years, we popped along early doors on Saturday and enjoyed a terrific meal -albeit only main courses (as we’re trying to cut down haha!).

Really enjoyed our meal here. Lots of different Pies to choose from. Great food, great atmosphere, can’t ask for more. It’s a great Pub and we will be back again soon!

Visited one lunchtime. Had a wait of over an hour and food wasn't great when it arrived. Not sure I wasn't overcharged as there was no receipt just some adding up done at the till!!

This was a “Full house night” and the atmosphere was brilliant. Such a friendly bunch were there and that included customers at the tables outside to the drinkers in the bar as well as the staff, who I must add “know” their menu. The food was better than good in portions size presentation quality and flavour. This is definitely a “Suck it and see for yourself venue” .......... if the place is always the same as we experienced ......... you will not be disappointed.

Popped in for lunch to the Crown. Picked from the two for £12 menu . Excellent value and was well full by the end . Beautiful thick gammon , asked for two eggs which were supplied, . Wife had pork and black pudding v nice . Had a lovely bottle of Shiraz red wine at £14.95 ,was spot on . All served by the lovely Emma . Very good value , very nice and generous portions . Can’t wait to go again

Smashing little friendly and welcoming pub in a stunning village. I called in here late the other night as staying local for first time. The pub was being ran by the parents of the owners who were on holiday, but clearly left it in great hands as Mam & Dad were top craic and really friendly as were the lovely young ladies serving.

Stopped here for lunch and ordered off the two courses for £12 menu - decent selection to choose from and the food was beautiful. We had the chicken strips and pats to start with and steaks for the mains. Steaks came with onion rings, a salad bowl each and a massive bowl of homemade chips to share - everything was beautifully cooked and well presented and the barmaid was friendly, polite and a credit to the pub. Will definitely go back if in that direction.

Sunday lunches revolve around carved meat. They are good wholesome but like most roast meals lack a certain "je ne sais quo! Service is good except when you want the bill! Odd that and a fault so very common.

I am not one to complain or make a fuss but I was really disappointed with our visit on the evening of 1st May 2018 to celebrate my father’s birthday with all the family. We have previously had a number of excellent meals and I hope our latest experience was just ‘a one off’. The starters were good but I was shocked when my mixed grill came to the table. I asked for the meat to be served medium rare, but was clearly over cooked and dry. Even the egg was like rubber and I asked for a replacement. To be fair I was asked by the waitress if I wanted to send my meal back but as I was in a party of 8 and it was a birthday celebration I didn’t wish to make a scene. I just wonder if the usual Chef has a Tuesday evening off as it was clear on this occasion the quality of the food was unfortunately lacking.

Staff were very helpful. Food for us was served in the bar so the dog could lay on my feet. I had a delicious beef stroganoff with saffron rice. Tasty, plentiful and good value. My friend had a spinach creation that was large enough to defeat her.

We visited the crown after it was recommended by a friend and it certainly didn’t disappoint, on the night of our wedding as well as being my birthday we had the most amazing meal at the crown followed by top class hospitality, our waitress Leanne is a credit, couldn’t do enough for us, she even gave us a lift back to the hotel !,Jamie the landlord and his wife,very welcoming after finding out about our special day invited us into the bar for celebratory drinks with some of the locals who also made us feel welcome, absolutely top class food and a top class environment, we will definitely be returning and would recommend it to any one, as the title states the mixed grill is the best I have ever tasted

We were treated to this by my partner's brother for his 60th birthday. Bruv is local and comes here regularly. There were 8 of us and all were very happy with their meals. Lovely place with a warm welcome and great service. Thank you we will be back

A meal with friends we chose off the 2 courses for £12 menu. Superb. Generous portions tasty food and lovely and hot. Excellent value for money. Bar orders did get a little confused. The place was clean and well appointed we had a lovely table where we could chat and catch up . Despite being very busy the staff were helpful and pleasant.

We have just moved to the area and have been a couple of times recently mid week. The food has been really lovely. The service is also just right. I love the local freedom beer on tap and will definitely return soon.

Went on a Friday evening with friends. All meals were faultless, but the pie was exquisite. It was a proper short crust pastry pie with a top and a bottom with proper chips that tasted as though they had been cooked in dripping. The liver...

We only stayed a little while in Abbots Bromley, and went to the Crown for lunch first. Oh my goodness, I ordered the pie, expecting and resigning myself to one of those earthenware pots with the meat in the dish, with a lid of puff pastry, oh no not at the Crown.

Works 'doo' for Christmas - a part of nearly 20 - we piled in for the Christmas menu, 3 courses for £20! We definitely had value for money, not only did we have 3 fantastic courses of home made delicious food, but we also had tea and coffee and chocolates and additional mince piece - all home made and a feast for the tastebuds! The service was spot on, and we had not waiting times, no complaints - absolutely flawless! Thanks to all the staff and team - definitely be returning!!! Tasty tasty tasty food!!!

6 of us enjoyed a most delicious Sunday Lunch today. Arrived at 12 noon for a drink before sitting down to our lunch. The staff are great. We shall come back again.

Nice bar with an open log fire which we really enjoyed. Good selection of draught ales and lagers. Reasonably priced meals

Absolutely fantastic food. Fantastic service. A real gem of a place! There was 7 of us in total who visited here on the 25/11/17 as a last minute decision after being severely let down by another establishment (shall not name). We all had starters which consisted of breaded mushrooms, prawncoctail, the soup of the day (french onion) and the breaded camembert none of which failed to deliver and was a sensation. For our mains (and there was a wide range to choose from) we had Liver and onions (mine bloody beautiful 1 of the best ive ever had if not the best). Rump steak a mammoth of a piece of meat cooked to perfection thick and juicy. Scampi biggest pieces ive ever seen. Gammon (says it all really). Beef stroganoff rich full of flavour sauce. Sausage and mash (little mans) surprised on how much he actually ate as he doesn't eat much. THE PIE OF THE DAY!!!!! the old man loves a pie and is known to travel to get 1. He lives in London so there are plenty of good places to eat. When it arrived he was impressed straight away as it is an actual pie and not just a pie crust top. Upon cutting into it whiched oooooozzzzzzzzeeeeeddddd out he said depending on taste this could be in his top 5! After not hearing a peep out of him until his plate was cleared. His only comment was TOP 3 defo TOP 3 which believe me is an achievement! Puddings there is only 1 pudding which you should have from here and that is the honey comb cheesecake you will not be disappointed. Ive got to give it to the staff so polite professional and attentive to detail made us feel welcome even tho i did confess this was our second choice. From now on this is our NUMBER 1 choice we will not be going anywhere else.

We visited the Crown on Sunday for lunch. You do need to book, as it appears to be very popular. The dining area is sperate from the bar and is very cosy. It is not somewhere you would go for an intimate meal for two, but that’s ok, we enjoyed the atmosphere with everybody having a good time. We were greeted by very friendly waitresses. We ordered two gin and tonics to start with. My wife ordered the roast beef, and I had the lambs liver and onions. Both were very good, the beef was tender, and my lambs liver very tasty. The accompanying vegetables were very good. We did have to wait a good 40 minutes for our main course, but when a restaurant is popular it is only to be expected. We didn’t particularly mind, but some might find it to long if you are in a rush. The home made cheesecake was delicious, and the sryup sponge sweet and sticky. We finished with coffee and feeling pleasantly full. Would we go again? Most definitely. Very reasonably priced too. Well done to all the staff.

Visited here as a small family group recently - good food with well cooked vegetables (i.e. not over cooked!). However the pastry on my pie was undercooked. Friendly staff. Similar to a recent review, my husband was presented with a scrap of paper as the bill, which he found strange and not very professional. However, he did a quick tot up of the meals and drinks which did tally with the amount on the paper. This would be very difficult to do for a larger group. We did get a card receipt.

17th October 2017. Just returned from a Birthday meal @ The Crown, Market Place, Abbots Bromley, Rugeley WS15 3BS. We have been here once before and had a fantastic time, we thought it would be nice for a party of 6 of us to attend for a Birthday meal. What a shocking time we had this time.We ordered our meals that were fine other than not enough vegetables came with the meal, and when deserts were ordered the custard on 3 of them were cold, these were returned but still one came back cold? This we put up with. Our main problem came when we wanted to pay, we were presented with a scrap of paper that had been scribbled on by our waitress with a total of £98.We could not make out what was on this bill so went to the counter to pay, each couple told the staff what they had and paid in full, we left leaving a tip of about £8. Once outside we were approached by a member of staff saying we had not paid enough, so suffered the embarrassment of being taken back through the bar to the restaurant to discuss the bill. On checking over the (scrap of paper) again we noted there were two drinks on the bill that had nothing to do with us? But we had paid everything we were due to pay.The member of staff apologised and stated we should never have been presented with a bill like that in the first place, (we know it should never of happened but it did), it was obvious our waitress was out of her depth here, she did not seem comfortable in what she was doing, she even removed a glass of water off our table that I was still drinking, to say this has tarnished our evening would be an understatement, the lack of professionalism, lack of care with the bill and distress caused parading us back through the pub like criminals was unbelievable, I also note the lack of response by the management on other reviews, Needless to say, this is one place we feel should be given a miss if you are looking for a good time out.

Went as a walking group 16 of us we had a first class pub meal every one thought it was excellent and the landlady and her staff went the extra mile for us .A great meal and well presented and generous helpings. If you are in the area you will not be unhappy do try the £ 10 lunch is also good we tried it on our pub search.

The Crown obviously has a well oiled, tried and tested services and menu and the food does not disappoint and the service is quick, although on this occasion it seemed all the staff had colds and sneezes - can't be helped I suppose. The food was ok for pub grub although I expected a little more of the port loin, sauce was great but I wasn't sure what the meat was. A BIG disappointment was to for the restaurant to allow a large group of teenagers armed with phones and beer bottles in to order what appeared in the main to be Burgers - couldn't they have served in the bar. Their appearance noise and constant wandering totally spoiled the ambiance. Probably a one off, I woudl not be put off by the latter .....

The staff were very friendly when we arrived for an impromptu lunch. There was a reasonable choice of beers. We were very impressed with the extensive choice of meals, which also included a 2 course for £10 lunchtime offer. We decided to go from the normal menu and the prices were good. We were told that it was prepared to order so were expecting a long wait. However, the meals came relatively quickly and were of excellent quality and good quantity. Good food, pleasant staff and efficient service, what more could you want?A very pleasant stop and we will hopefully return.

A vibrant social village pub, with a very strong following of locals which is indicative of the quality of beers and food being served.We have now visited twice in two weeks and our friends have booked it for Sunday lunch with family. The meats and fish are generous propertions and cooked to a very good flavoursome standard, the chips are home made and the steaks perfectly cooked.We live in a next village and this pub has been added to our list of favourites. (NB there are only two other pubs on the list!)

Food is pretty standard for pub grub. Cooked fresh and service good. Owner very welcoming and kind, great place to grab something to drink and good for food (especially if looking for something which is high value for money).

Looked like a great find . Bar staff were very friendly. Waited for around 30mins for 2 sandwiches with soup. Not complaining about that as we all know things do take time when cooking freshly made food.When it came out;The soup was very thick, very unrefined.. Ok not to our taste but others may like it that way.However when it came to the sausage and caramelised onions.... The sausage was hardly cooked and the onions were warm not caramalised. Asked for baguette but it came on bread. Pity the cook didn't come and see me after we told them about the undercooking.To top it all another couple were complaining about their steak next to us.Wont be going back again.

There was a little wait at lunchtime but so worth it. Freshly prepared food, cooked perfectly and such good value at £10 for two courses. We shall be visiting again.

Tried this as a pub grub evening meal experience. The bar & waitress service was friendly. We ordered Pate & a Soup as starters followed by 1 Steak and 1 Gammon. The food seemed very basic and not that great but passable. It did not live up to the well above average reviews we had read. The dining area was also a bit dreary. Perhaps if we had been in a Party of people the atmosphere would have made it seem better. We would return, but with expectations of just basic pub grub.

Very tasty meal at a n excellent price - £10 for two courses. I had steak followed by raspberry cheesecake - scrumptuous! Very nice dining area, only one comment - we were hungry and the service was very slow! But well worth waiting for - we will return!
