Had Sunday lunch with some freinds to celebrate a birthday. It was very difficult to fault; superb food, well presented , substantial portions and piping hot, great staff, knowledgeable and friendly and could not have been more helpful. Great location, and atmosphere. This will be our pub lunch place of choice from now on.

Nice pub and location. More upmarket food, good presentation but for the money it lacked taste and quality. Took orders at the bar but then the card machine asked if I wanted to tip, cheeky. Much better options elsewhere.

Simply cannot get a nicer dining experience than The Crown. We had a large table of family for Sunday lunch and we were well catered for. Sat us promptly on arrival and quickly took a drinks order. ‘While we wait’ bread arrived freshly baked, along with a delicious Garlic Butter and enjoyed by everyone. On to the Mains which we enjoyed with something of everything off the menu! I had incredible slices of Roast Beef, other members of our party had a melt in-the-mouth Roast pork, delicious Roast Chicken and the vegetarian option of the stuffed mushroom. All served with a huge Yorkshire pudding, roast potatoes and then bowls full of delicious vegetables all along the table - with at least 3 varieties on each bowl! Extra gravy duly brought to us, along with whatever sauces we requested. Absolutely delicious and cannot be faulted at all, high class food, not some cheap microwave food. And dessert was delicious, I had a particularly tasty white chocolate and raspberry baked cheesecake which came with a very tasty raspberry sorbet, my family members chose from the chocolate tart or ice cream and some others chose a freshly prepared coffee instead. The staff were very friendly, engaged with us all, from the young children to our Aunt who’d turned 90! The waitresses were helpful without being over-the-top and we felt very looked after. Cannot recommend this fantastic High end Country pub highly enough!

We went for Sunday lunch and the Food was really good however service was all round incredibly slow - waited 15 minutes for a drinks order to be taken and then another 15 minutes for the round of drinks to actually arrive. Food took a very long time to come out as well. The room we were placed in was also very loud and crowded and so was unfortunately was difficult to have conversation until later in the afternoon when people started leaving.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️- 5 stars all round As our local pub we visit regularly but this time it was a little bit more special. Tonight was our last time dining before our table of two turns into a table of three. And the charming ambiance made it that little bit more memorable. We really love dining here. From the moment we arrived until we left, everything was impeccable. I appreciate the team for putting together such a good experience. The food was delicious as always. We are already looking forward to our next visit with the new addition.

Thank you for another really enjoyable lunch and experience today. The team are really friendly and welcoming. The pub is in a beautiful village and beautifully presented inside and out. They’ve just got it right here, incredibly good quality restaurant standard food, yet have kept the charm and relaxed atmosphere of a village pub. The detail is noticed, quality napkins, the way the cutlery is presented, branded bottles for the complimentary still/sparkling water, nicely presented menus and beautifully presented food. The food is clearly freshly prepared by experienced chefs, and always tastes superb! The real ale is made at their local Bury St. Edmonds pub and offers a good selection of quality real ale. Looking forward to coming back again very soon. Thank you for making our experience a good one.

Easy parking, Good food, friendly staff, level access, accessible toilet - all the things that matter to me. I had a risotto with some brie melted in- sensational. OK it was Wednesday lunch, not Friday or Saturday, but as booking is advised, no doubt busier times will be good too.

The food is wonderful, the atmosphere is very pleasant, good background music, excellent beer from the local Brewshed brewery, all in all, a lovely place to go for meal and a few drinks. Lucy the manager is just the perfect host. Always smiling, exceptionally helpful, loves a chat and has an excellent sense of humour. We visited The Crown for a mid-week dinner. It's a lovely, old pub with the most ridiculously enormous beer garden in beautiful Suffolk countryside. The food was divine, perfectly portioned and very tasty. The feather blade steak was particularly good. What really made the visit memorable was the staff. They were friendly and welcoming and the lady who took our food orders and served us dinner was without doubt the hostess with the mostest! She made us feel like cherished regulars. A fantastic evening.

The best Sunday roast in a decade - by far. Super friendly and helpful staff, great wine list and 'to die for' pineapple upside down cake. All in a beautiful setting - AND clean and comfortable toilets (there's always a downside and that's usually it, but not here!) We're already planning our return visit; one of my party is all the way from Colchester and has resolved to bring her friends - it's that good!

Te Crown is situated in the delightful village of Hartest where we met family for a weekday lunch. The eating area was spotless and very comfortable. We were made welcome by the staff and ordered drinks. The menu has a selection of starters and lunches for all tastes. The food is freshly home cooked, ample portions and was delicious. I chose the pork schnitzel which was delicious and full of flavour. Schnitzel means to beat until thin, however the schnitzel should be beaten till it is 2-4 mm thick so chef use the mallet for longer. Having lived in Munich and Austria for 2 years schnitzel (pork, veal or beef) we one of my staple meals, so I found the choice of accompanied items strange to say the least. The items I expected to find were sweet and sour red cabbage, bratkartoffein (fried potatoes), gurkensalat (Greek cucumber salad), baked or roasted honey carrots or as a standby sauerkraut. The polenta did not work for me!! The desserts were as delicious as the lunch course. Would I return as I did for Sunday lunch and recommend the Crown, very definately. A very pleasurable lunch experience.

Super Sunday Lunch Both the roast pork belly / loin and the roast sirloin were perfectly cooked and just melted in your mouth. The Yorkshire pudding was light and crispy and along with a great generous selection of veg meant we were pretty full. The staff were all very friendly and helpful providing an excellent service. We will definitely be returning.

The quality of the food and wine is absolutely outstanding. We knew that we were in for a treat when the flatbread arrived; it was freshly made, with just the right amount of bright green pesto and scattering of micro herbs to take it to the next level. The menu is short but perfectly formed and the same could be said about the wine list; unusual inclusions like a (delicious) Catalan white signalled that we were lucky to be in place where those making the food and wine choices knew their stuff. I am still dreaming about the kedgeree; I am lucky enough to live in London and be surrounded by amazing places to eat but this dish was the best I have ever tasted. Perfectly balanced, with peas to add pops of freshness and the most delightful “ketchup” (I don’t even like the red stuff so this is saying something). Special mention to the staff for their superb service and Jason, the magician in the kitchen. It’s also an attractive spot in a stunning village.

Staff were friendly and helpful.Menus are limited and change weekly, with a choice of really high quality options - these are always updated on their website. Portion sizes are generous, so you won't be left disappointed. Veggie options weren't so inspiring when we were there, but I've no doubt they would have been tasty. They came with mash, veg and gravy and at £12 were excellent value.

I was visiting the area for work and was recommended to this pub by the B & B owners for an evening meal. A nice friendly pub, with a pleasant ambiance, friendly service, decent choice of food which was very tasty and satisfying. The pub was so good I went back on my second night. I did not have my dogs with me but it was obviously a very dog welcoming pub with a number of locals and exceptionally well behaved pets. I was a little bit disappointed that The Crown is some 80 miles from where I live as would otherwise see it as my perfect local.

Popped in today , pub was very busy which is always nice to see and the fires where lit , nice and cosy. The ladies had a glass of wine each and we sat down , nice sandwich’s and soup all round lovely staff served us with a smile . Food was excellent as always will be back . The weather out side was beautiful and the gardens looked wet nice so in the summer a table will be had to enjoy the Suffolk countryside. Thank you

I can not recommend this Sunday lunch enough. We enjoyed a selection of light bites from the ‘while you wait’ menu which was a mistake as it meant we could not manage dessert or quite finish our mains We had white bait which was crisp and served with a small portion of mayonnaise; some bread which comes in a brown paper bag to keep it hot. Two small loaves of freshly baked, hot crispy bread served with a side of butter. We also had the pork crackling and apple sauce. These were all delicious and come recommendedThe mains of pork belly was a huge delight. Served with Yorkshire pudding, the crispiest roast potatoes; cauliflower cheese; carrots and cabbage. All deliciously cooked, served hot and large portions. One of our party had the roast beef which was served with the same accompaniments and was served pinkNone of us could manage a dessertOur compliments to the chef and the lovely waiter and waitresses who looked after us today

Recommended by friend we went today and had a great lunch at this lovely pub in a beautiful setting. Service was friendly and all staff were helpful. I had the roast pork, which was delicious and plenty of side veg, the rest had veggie options- the mushroom pie went down really well as did the curry and 'veggie roast. Then one of the best sticky toffee puddings I've had. Look forward to returning when the weather's a bit better to have a wander round the village

Quite shocked by this experience. Service was slow. i had to go to the bar to get a drink and it was obvious by my walking stick that this took some effort. I ordered the salmon dish, it was so dry, the salad was just full of broccoli and carrots. I had to as for a portion of chips to compensate. So my husband ended

We normally use sister pub, The Cadogan, for a family Christmas meal but as this was the first one without my father, we decided to change to The Crown. We booked early so had a the time and date we wanted and as we were a largish group, we pre-booked. Spot on time, we were advised our starters were ready so we made our way to the table. We had a variety of starters, Mackerel pate, crab croquettes, whitebait but all who had the Christmas scotch egg were very impressed with it. For main courses, we had a mixture of beef, pork and turkey and all were cooked perfectly. Plenty of vegetables with more offered if required along with extra gravy. There was plenty on every plate which left little room for deserts although a few did indulge. The staff were attentive and checked on us at regular intervals offering more drinks and checking everything was ok.

Very nice feel to the pub, plenty of space, good quality furnishings. Food excellent and service very much on the ball. Would love to visit again and have longer to linger and try a dessert too.

As a pool player for this pub I'm in here most days. What makes this pub the place to be is the character, the charm, the staff who make it such a cosy place to frequent. The food is amazing, my favourite by far is the roast dinners. Massive fan of then. The staff too are friendly and accommodating, even playing pool they come over and talk to you ask you about your day ect, their general attitude is very positive and it makes the experience that much better. I can't imagine going anywhere else. Keep up the great work!

Michael and Sheila have gone although the new "lady of the house" is actually Sheilas daughter. I appreciated we are in troubled times with a lot of pubs cutting back but a very limited menu will not impress previous customers, although the fish couldn't have been fresher. A big no is the owners children having the run of the pub, just imagine "grumpy" Michaels comments!!!.
